Camera issue or sd card issue fix - Sony Xperia 5 Questions & Answers

Does anybody experience the same issue where the save location for the camera is on the sd card and after taking pictures it doesn't show up in the album app. Also if taking selfie on the same sd card location it doesn't show up in the album app. Sidenote: I never experienced it on my Xperia XZ2.
Update: I have fixed the issue with the camera regarding sd card save location.
Steps: 1. Connect your device to a computer and allow the computer to access your storage on the device pop up.
2. Copy the sd card contents over the computer.
3. Once finished, disconnect your device from the computer.
4. Perfom the format option for the sd card under storage setting.
5. Choose the sd card as the save location for the camera and then test if it solved the issue.

I have had this issue on all my Xperia phones... especially when i start the camera when the phone is locked with the camera button...
The photos are not visible in the Google photos app but are visible in the Sony's Album app

probably an issue within the google photo app because i never had that issue with any of my xperias. I guess its case to case scenario then.

Android Sd card problem

I have a Droid and I want to use my Sd card in my camera then put it in to my phone to send the pictures. When I put the sd card into my phone after taking pictures it always says i need to reformat because the sd card is damaged. Is there anyway i can use it in both my both and my camera.
Hi,
Following are the solutions:
- First eject the card and reinsert it properly. Then switch off the phone and then turn it on again. I’m sure the problem will be solved.
- If the problem is still there, then check the card on the Camera again and take some new pictures. Some camera pictures didn’t show in phone, due to the resolution. Camera resolution is different than the phone resolution.
The card works fine it just makes me erase everything when i put in back in from the camera
No one can help me with this problem
i had a very similar issue... i turned on my phone one day, and it had at LEAST 1000 photos missing! i got some Photo Recovery Software to address the issue, only to find out that they somehow were corrupted from the phone start?? Either way, there is no known way to deal with this issue, other than formatting the SD card, and partitioning it; and even THEN you still have that stupid issue being a possibility! -__-
what kind of partition would you need to make

[Q] How to change camera save location - CM7

When I purchased this phone it saved all new photos to the internal memory, this is what I wanted. The phone did not come with an external sd card and the camera worked just fine without one.
Now that I have installed CM7 (which I really like) my phone only wants to save to the sd card and gives the message "Please insert an SD card before using the camera" when I go to take a photo - preventing me from taking any photos at all. I want the photos to be saved internally. I do not want to have to have an sd card in the device for the camera to work. How do I change it back to save to internal memory? I cannot find a setting for storage preference anywhere.
If this has been answered elsewhere I apologize. Please point me in the right direction.

Camera Zoom FX error (light blue screen)

So does anybody has had this error on their phone? Sometimes when I want to take a pic it shows a light blue/cyan screen error, and the picture doesn't get taken. The error says:
Failed to save photo to SD card (error code=2)
The following are fixes for this error:
- make sure your SD card is inserted
- remove the SD card and re-insert, then launch Camera ZOOM FX again
- reboot and try again
If this problem continues, please mail [email protected]
Somebody knows what is going on?
Thanks.
I'm using the same app, but haven't had any problems since switching to a Class 4 SD card (due to the known issue w/Class 10 cards on this device). Can't seem to use video with it though, every time I try to switch to video it force closes.

The weird thing is that if I do a factory reset, then it works fine, but as soon as I begin to install some apps and play around, then it happens again.
Somebody else has another input?
I was having the same issue I also did a Factory Reset then pulled the battery over night and have not had the issue since not sure if it was just a glitch or what.
I just downloaded Camera Zoom FX and got the same thin I took out my sd card and tried the app again, same response. I bought a 16mb class 6 sd card at the suggestion from here on what would work. The camera is a disappointment with the stock app, hope I can get FX working.
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
So far no problems with Camera Zoom FX.
OS versions 2.3.5 or 2.3.6.
SDcard is a Sandisk 16G class 6
Any news nahuelarg86 on your situation
I had the same problem with this app. The standard camera app would appear to save the pictures but when you would go into MyGallery, no picture would be there although you wouldn't get an error message like CameraFX. I found this information somewhere else, but if I went and looked at the dcim directory on the sdcard there would be corrupt files in the Camera subdirectory. Deleting these files would then allow pictures to be saved. I was using a class 10 sd card, but switching to class 4 didn't fix the issue. I did the OTA update to 2.3.6 hoping this would correct the issue. This made things worse regarding the camera apps. Every picture file for news pics appeared to be corrupt. I then did a factory reset to 2.3.6 and I haven't had a problem with the camera apps since.
Well, I did a factory reset and I didn't have the problem again. But, I began to download some apps and play around and then I got it again... I deleted all the apps that I installed last time in hope that it would help, and it did. For me it's a pain in the a$$ to do factory resets because of the setting up, re installing of thing, etc.
I still don't know where the problem might be. Seems like it's related to space or the resources an app uses, but I know of the problems of SD cards and everything is stored in the phone's memory. So I have no idea...
I know this thread is old, but it was the first hit on google, so maybe someone else will need the solution: Most of the times the save feature on external sd card is corrupted because of rom change. Backup your data of your external sd on your PC. Then go in android under settings < "space" (Speicher auf deutsch) and format the external sd card. Afterwards you should be able again to save your pictures on your external sd card, because the card is now perfectly formatted to your rom....

G+ auto-backup not working - can't manually upload either

If this is the wrong forum please direct me to the correct one.
I recently did a fresh install of SlimKat 5.4 on my I9100, and Google+'s Auto-Backup isn't working.
Even if I manually select photos in the Gallery and 'share' to 'Photos' (whereupon it attempts to upload them to my G+ account) it simply does nothing.
What is going on here? Does anybody have any suggestions? Additionally, when I open the Photos app, it lists all the images on my device and they can be opened, but they are completely black, as if it's having trouble reading them properly.
Ok, I know partially why now - I'm also having a problem whereby I can't see any SD Card image folders when I open Gallery. They exist and I can navigate to them via Explorer, but Gallery can't access them - nor can Photos. I've tried clearing Gallery's cache but that won't fix it.
What could be causing this? I also tried re-seating the SD Card in case it was physically loose.
Whan can I do??

Ok, so I've also tried: formatting the SD card, tried a new SD card, and neither of those things made any difference.
There must be a simple reason for this?
Has nobody had this happen before?
Additionally, Google Music doesn't display any music files, and sometimes when I navigate to the SD card in Root Explorer, the rom freezes.
So it sounds like it's a problem with the SD card port, or perhaps the ROM itself has problems. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the SD card port though, it was fine before I upgraded to Slimkat 5.4.....

Can't open some photos on microSD in gallery

I have an odd issue with my phone:
Some of my photos cannot be opened in Gallery, displaying a gray thumbnail with an exclamation mark.
I was concerned that my SD card was faulty or corrupt so I put it in my computer ... no problem.
I ran error check on the SD card, not errors.
Put it back in my phone... and the same photos can't be opened in gallery. I try to use another app on my phone ... no problems.
Now I'm really confused, as I can open the photos with other apps on my phone.
I would prefer to not redo my phone. Any suggestions?
SD card: Samsung Memory 64 GB PRO Micro SDXC
Phone: SM-G930F
Android: 7.0 stock rom
Is your camera app also crashing? I'm having a sudden gallery issue myself that is causing the native camera app to crash.

I just tried this and unfortunately it didn't fix my problem. Some sites have suggested that it could be an issue with my micro SD card, but I don't know how to test this.

Sometimes I get this problem with downloaded images (device storage) so I can confirm that it's not memory card related atleast not in my case.

Other times the images will open and just display a thumbnail of the Grey background and exclamation mark in the images view due to failure in generation of thumbnails.

My camera app works fine. Try setting the camera to local storage or removing the SD card and seeing if that corrects the issue.
If it does, remove the files from the card, format (in the phone) and put them back, see if that helps.
If none of this helps, RMA the SD card.
