OnePlus 7 charger - works with 6? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hello guys,
Got my wife a OP7 the other day. Is it safe to use her charger with my OP6? Asking because it'd save us space on the power strip, but also I want to buy a new car charger and was wondering if I could go for a OP7 one...
I tried googling but the answers I found were confusing.
Thanks!

Yes, you can. But it would only charge on dash speeds, not warp.

Yeah, I understand that, goes without saying. I was just wondering if it would fry my phone! I tried reading the specs on the charger to answer my own question but it has to be the smallest font I've ever seen
Thanks for the reply

Whatever rating you read on the label, your phone only pulls the current it needs from the brick. So no, it won't fry your phone. Just make sure you are using only original accessories.

Yeah, but that applies to Ah, right? Does the voltage remain the same?

It applies to A, not Ah. You don't need to worry much about voltage because both dash and warp are 5V.

Yes, sorry, that was an obvious mistake. Thanks for the voltage clarification!

I know that's cheap. But I would still rather buy a quality 5000mah one for 10x the price.

aestetically speaking, they all looks horrible as a battery solution
i much prefer taking off the back cover to swap in another pack of 1500 than hooking up one of those listed above
it's not simply the looks, it also affects usability.

Well, with an external charger you can just connect it while not using the phone, and have it top up the battery. I don't see any aesthetic issues doing it that way. It's a great deal easier than opening up the phone and replace the battery. The ultimate would be charger/battery case for i9000 that allows charging from mains, charging to to mini-usb, and use standard i9000 batteries.

I bought one, and it doesnt seem to work at all. Phone changes to 'Charging (AC)' and then immediately flips to 'Not Charging' when you look in battery status.

You have to get the "Charging" Micro-USB cable. The one that comes with the phone is a data + charging.
Mine works fine with the samsung eneloop 5000mah.

[Q] Cordless Charging Pad

Anyone here use one of those cordless charging pads where you can simply place your phone on the pad for a charge? I am looking into purchasing one and would like to hear about anyone's experience with them.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

So far as I know, no one makes one that is specifically compatible with the HTC G2/Desire-Z...
You can still use most of them, but they will require to device to be plugged into the G2/Desire-Z and then for that to be placed onto the charging pad, which kind of defeats the purpose of "wireless charging"
Oh i didnt even know they were made for specific phones, that sucks. Well, thanks for the heads-up.

Ok well let me re-phrase that... The charging pads or mats are not made for specific phones. But the accessories you must buy to make them charge wireless are. For example, to wireless charge a Droid X on the PowerMat, you have to purchase a special battery cover/door for the Droid X. For the true "no wires" effect on any of the wireless charging mats out there, it requires buying a special battery and/or battery cover, if they make one for your device. No one has made one for the HTC Desire-Z/G2 yet that I'm aware of.
It's bleeping charging
sent from t-mobile g2 using HTC sense
i have one
I have one(Power Mat), use it for my HD2. Works very well. Seems to help with battery life, as it seems to charge better a little bit slower. takes about 45 minutes longer the charge my hd2, but lasts hours longer since i got it. Still waiting for a powermat battery cover for my g2, but havent seen one yet. Got mine at walmart for 80 bucks, i think it was well worth it. very easy to charge, dont have to worry about plugging it in all the time, as you just set it down, and it charges.
Does anyone know if the HD2 battery could fit inside the G2...if that's the case, you could mod it to fit. Like the Evo battery for the G2

no, its different. Besides, its isnt the battery that make the powermat work. Its an aftermarket battery cover. You still use your stock battery. The battery cover could not be modded to fit either, as it is completely different in size.
Ah that sucks...thanks...was hoping it was an all in one cover battery.

"Wireless" yet there's a wire into the wall.
How do you charge your phone when you're talking on it?
Hold the mat up to your head?
When they have the ability to use EMF to wirelessly charge your phone,
All you'll need to do is be within the vicinity of the charger.
That's wireless.
I know this kind of defeats the objective but for the time being you could use one of these

Not sure if that works with the Vision, if not get the one with 7 tips

headphones / aux cable disables mic

ive searched for a few hours and have noticed that this is a problem that other devices have as well....
for me this makes my car dock that i bought pointless....i saw there was a work around for the EVO that required bending a connector inside...id rather not do that for the TB but willing to try if last resort and if anyone knows how to
has there been any other work around for this?
the car dock instructions even tell you to plug audio cable in! i dont get it.....and this is only while making calls....the Voice search works fine
any help is very appreciated thanks guys...
anyone? i really dont want to have to buy an adapter with mic on it...
Actually, what you need to do, just buy this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...49206&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2654wt_1139
I just ordered it. It says that is for iphone. However, it works same way to Thunderbolt. It is worth to try.
If you doubt, you can find other things, similar like that.
That sucks considering the mic setup on the TB isn't too shabby. Maybe it can be fixed in a firmware update?

Convert non-removable battery to use on phone with removable battery?

I had been thinking about this. Is there any way to use or convert or transform those non-removable/embedded/built-in/internal batteries as external/removable batteries? Does the built-in batteries also have the 3-pins like removable batteries inside? Is it possible?
Probably with some soldering and electrical know how, sure. Not sure it would be worth it, but yeah.

Possible? Yes
But....
Very impractical for more reasons than I can list due to the fact that you're talking about doing it with lithium batteries which are unstable to begin with, in part, it's that instability that make them a good energy source. Controllably unstable like the engines on a rocket ship, in control but just barely enough to get it to do what you want as long as you don't deviate from its design/function and can go wrong at any moment with the slightest change in variables.
In my opinion, you're more likely to start a fire or at least burn a device up than have any kind of sensible long term success.
I'm sure we all have heard about the note 7 and the hover board incedents, right? That's all I could picture when I read this OP.
Yikes!!!

Please explain your nonsensical post
Please explain why the connection between the phone and a non-removable battery differs so much from a built - in battery that it would be dangerous. They're virtually identical. I have to consider your post propaganda from the phone companies that benefit from the planned obsolescence unless you reply. I'm considering converting a note 10 so I can upgrade from a note 4 finally. Would like to do so safely. Hope you get this and respond because you sound like you know what you're talking about, but I'm old enough to have encountered good liars, and I simply can't see why this would be as dangerous as you're trying to make it seem. The note 7 was a problem with the battery itself, not the fact that it was built-in or removable. Thanks.

If the battery is the same form factor, same dimensions, has the contacts in the correct location to make a connection, has the contact points in the correct order/configuration(+ in the correct position and - in the correct position) and is rated with the same specs as the original battery, it might work.
But, I think it is a shot in the dark, I doubt you'll find a battery that will actually fit and connect at the right points. If you are considering trying to use wire to connect the battery to the contact points in the phone, I'll go ahead and tell you that is a bad idea.

Adding the wire between the battery and the contact pins changes the amount of resistance between the battery and the contact pins, this difference will probably, at some point, lead to some kind of hardware damage/failure.

Turbo charging gone on pie

The issue has been noted on a Reddit thread. Myself and numerous other users have noticed turbo charging has gone bye bye when updating to pie. It's logged as unfixable. Is there anything we can do?
I have 3 USB-c chargers from Google. One that came with the phone, a car charger and another home charger for my travel bag. Only the charger that came with the phone charges rapidly. Previously they all worked fine. It's not unfixable, it's a bug. I haven't found anything to fix the problem. Guess we will have to wait for an update once they realize they messed it up.

They know and they marked it as unfixable ! I don't think I'll be getting another pixel of Google continues with this **** Akon to planned obsolescence
So I am confused,,,and I dont mean any sarcasm here,,if the charger that came with the phone works and charges rapidly why doesnt people just use the charger that came with the phone? If you dont have one buy one off of Google?

All 3 of my chargers are directly from Google. One came with the phone and 2 I bought from the Play Store. I wanted to keep a charger in my travel bag and one for the car. They worked fine before the update. I don't see why they would disable 2 of their own chargers. The chargers I bought from the Google store are not the exact model as the one that came with the phone. You would think they would still work.
I've noticed as well. I just bought this pixel on eBay after many years without turbo charge some I'm still used to charging my phone slower, battery life to me has improved with the update. I guess I'll buy a charger from Google
That would be a reason for me to not upgrade my phone. Are there people where the original charger doesnt work?

I am using g it and it is not charging rapidly. Took 30 minutes just to get me 15 percent whereas on Oreo that would only take me ten minutes.
I guess my question is,,,why would Google say this problem is not fixable,,,usually meaning there is something the end user is doing, or has done, that is causing the problem. But then again, Google has been known to say it is not a problem until enough people say something.

Are you using a custom kernel or kernel editing software such as ex kernel manager? The reason I'm asking is because I installed ex kernel manager and fast charging went bye-bye.... when I uninstalled it the fast charging returned. I am rooted with twrp and magsik which neither seem to have an effect on the fast charging.

I think the issue was marked as "unfixable" by the AOSP team as it's not a problem with Android, it's a problem with Pixel.
Well so far I am good,,,I plugged my Pixel into my Moto stock fast charger line and it fast charges fine. So who knows what is going on.
