It's not terrible, but I don't love it. . . as a dark mode fan, it's a constant annoyance that basic things like the phone dialler app don't have dark mode, nor does the settings menu or other stuff I access frequently. Overall though, everything works like I'd expect it to, so I can't complain too much.

OEM Icons are terrible, the default launcher is just ok, default application functionality is mediocre, just download a 3rd party launcher like Evie, a custom icon pack, remove all the bloatware garbage OEM applications through ADB, download some better ones and you'll be all set.

Very clean and easy to use.
Missed some gestures, but Nova launcher has those. Very nice combo.

It's vanilla oreo with a bit of legacy cyanomthingymabob... I think we all know Lollipop was the last 'Doro' usable settings...Mm onwards is G.'s fudge because they didn't want ROOTing, so dicked about with sandboxing apps and doubling the memory so ROOT became unnecessary in their eyes.

EMUI5 is bettee than emui4 plus feauture packed, there are aome bloats but can be removed easier, ability to customise the front capacitive buttons is great, also the fingerprint gestures
I love it that everything you need is already included.
Software wise, it's good, only some refinements when it comes to notifocation shade
EMUI went a long way since I last tried it on my wifes G7. This version is excellent and I even can have the app drawer which is what I like. Plenty of features, nice colors and options... I don't even feel the need of installing anything else like in previous phones I had!
The fingerprint sensor is awesome! I have 4 fingers saved (2 in each hand) and I turn the phone ON instantly in whatever position I have it.
Great camera too. I didn't try all the features yet, but I already noticed very good features. The selfi camera background blur effect is better than I anticipated! I can see the result right on the screen and make slight changes in position to achieve the perfect result! The speed of focus is great too!
And I think I don't need to speak about how beautiful the phone is. If you think it's beautiful by looking into the online pics of it, when you grab your hands on it than you know the true beauty... I'm speechless! It's the prettiest phone I've touched!
Just love emui 5..lets ee what they do with emui 6..
Honor 9 for sure will be a priority for EMUI 8.
The stock software application is good full and free of bugs and inaccuracies.
There is everything to explain what it is.
The Honor 9 comes with plenty of bloatware and useless apps like "mirror". The included software is pretty bad.

EMUI 5.1 has little improvements over 5.
I'm actually digging EMUI now. It has grown in me.
I'm coming from a 'stock' android experience with Motorola phones then custom ROMs that still looks like stock android but with lots of extra features and customization. My first emui experience was emui 5 in the Honor 8, didn't like the launcher so I replaced it with Nova.
Honestly I think emui 5 feels like the custom ROM experience (aosp). It performs as smooth as stock android but you get extra features that enhance the usage.
Did you know that using stock gallery we can have picture in picture mode like Oreo? Open a video using gallery, tap on the window icon and you'll get to home screen with video still running and you can move the video window around.
The present iteration of EMUI is actually much better than the past versions.
Of course. It will go better and better.
i'd like it better if i could get stock icons and settings back, as no matter what they look pretty crap and even in themes they look like utter s***e.
Good experience. I'm satisfied.
Really impressed and like emui 5..haven't tried emui 8 yet.
Honor 9 runs EMUI which is no the best OEM software. It is hard to compete with the speed of the more stock OEM UIs out there.

We all have our own reasons for loving Android, ranging from our favourite OEMs design language to a great feature that can’t be found elsewhere, or perhaps just a great value price point. This is mostly thanks to some healthy competition and a sprinkling of strong product diversity. But this isn’t just true for hardware, Android software can be just as diverse, as OEMs attempt to put their own spin on things in a bid to stand out. Some more successfully than others, it has to be said.
Love them or loathe them, various OEM skins have enhanced and even innovated enough on stock Android to even become incorporated as key features in future versions. Despite the odd disaster, on the whole custom OEM skins and software have been a good thing for the broader ecosystem. Here are just some of the ways that OEM skins have benefited stock Android.

I personally holds a 8T and I'm quite a OP fan since the start. I've been very happy since. The software and its UX have always been designed with quality and thoughts.
However, since the OP8T, I've had quite my share of issues. Camera is bugging, its shortcuts are not working or forces a reboot randomly.
The camera, when it works is indeed easy to use and quite intuitive.
One remark though is the switch from 12MP to 48MP...
Hope this helps! Cheers
