Desire S on it's way , a couple of questions

Hi all ,
As the title says I have a Desire S on it's way and should be here tomorrow and I have a couple of questions .
1,
What's the best way to transfer the contacts and calendar from my current phone to the Desire S ?
Is it best to set up Google Sync on my Windows Mobile and use that to sync between both phones ? or is there a better way ?
I am currently using a HTC HD Mini .
2,
What's the best SatNav program for the Desire S , using offline maps ( Saved to memory card )
I am using TomTom at the moment on my HD Mini and it works perfectly .
It's my first Android phone and any guides / tips are most welcome.
My last few phones werea all Windows Mobile .
Thanks in advance .
Hi!
1.) Congrats
2.)The easiest way is certainly through google, Going from asus P750 I remember some programs to transfer data across platforms, but it was not very reliable (national characters lost etc...)
3.) I'm currently using iGo which I used on WM too, but sadly iGo can not be purchased normally for Android, it's a company solution only... so unless you want to .... iGo, I'd recommend Sygic or something similar...
4.) Wait for the phone to arrive to raize questions, I'm sure you'll have many
Thanks for the reply ,
It turned out to be easy to get my contacts and calendar from my HD Mini to the Desire S .
I set up a gmail account , and used ActiveSync on the HD Mini to sync to the gmail account .
When I turned on the Desire S for the first time and entered the gmail account details , it downloaded all my contacts .
Love the phone so far , I'm still finding my way around Android...
Same with me, i'll get my Desire S this Sunday. Before i use Samsung Galaxy Ace.
i've several question
1. If i get s-on, may be it not possible to root it atm. so my question how i can remove advertisement in some app? (last time i used adfree but i know it only work for rooted phone)
2. Where i can found flashing tools and firmware for this device? (last time samfirmware give me all of this for samsung)
Thanks before
1. u can't
2. look at the desire s android development forum, there is a thread with the OEM roms
For the of-line Navigation, I don't know which is best, just to avoid the included HTC Locations. I paid for a full perpetual licence, it refused to work and Route 66 refused to refund me.
However, I can certainly help you with some tips! I have done a beginner's guide on this thread...

Here you can download my tips and suggestions in .pdf format. I updated it yesterday.
There should be at least a couple of helpful bits in there for you!

Duo Mobile (multi factor authentication) issue on Nougat

Hi, sorry if I am posting in the wrong place.
I have the OnePlus 2, recently installed the latest build of Resurrection Remix after the update of Oxygen OS 3.5.5. I did a full wipe, data partition included.
There is one app that doesn't work right anymore and I can't tell if it is because of the update to Nougat or if there is an issue in how it works with the rom.
The app name is Duo Mobile, support Android 4.0 and up. I am not able to add the different services by scanning QR code or links by SMS. This was working fine on Oxygen 3.0.2.
The official answer from Duo support is that they can't guarantee support for custom roms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone having the same issues with this app?
Any logs I could gather to troubleshoot?
I am also having an issue with my new phone and Duo Mobile. Not sure if it is related to yours, but would love to see if somebody knows how to help
My details:
Phone: HTC U11 Unlocked
Android: 7.1.1
Issue is that Duo mobile checks for certain security "requirements" including a secure startup (i.e. requirement for the PIN before android boots after restart), but apparently this feature was removed in Android 7 (Google apparently has something now called direct boot).

Update, I got everything working. It was actually a relatively simple fix, DUO mobile requires a 6 digit PIN (i had a 4 digit PIN). Once I changed my PIN to 6 digits, my phone would now encrypt itself and it met all of DUO mobile's security requirements.

Security Certificates & Root Access

Hey anybody reading,
Upon getting super bored & frustrated trying to root a Motorola Moto xt830c, I started searching thru System security settings, specifically the Certificatates preinstalled onto the device.
Im curious as to how some of these (sketchy sounding) certificates work & what exactly they grant referring to permissions & all that? Any help would be appreciated xD.

They are there to allow your device to confirm it's connected to a secure server so that your connection is private & secure. (in theory at least) They don't have any permissions. You can go to trusted credentials in security settings and deactivate any you don't trust in recent Android ver, which I've done with about half of mine, especially those with bad records like wosign.

wifi data sync with google

Hey community,
I have a special question and I am hoping to get it answered. I am on android since 9 years, I had HTC devices, SONY, Huawei, and now I am on OnePlus, but I never had such an issue before.
I moved from a Mate 9 to OnePlus 6 on 28 of May. Both devices were stock - no root - no custom rom.
My app´s, general settings, website / log In / passwords and contacts were synced with my google account, but my known wifi networks / SSID´s / and the pasword for those, were not synced.
I had accepted all function related to the data sync, but the OP6 do NOT get the data.
Does anyone knows the reason ?? Is it related to OxygenOS in general, or is it just a bug ??
I have no dount to re-enter all the passwords, but some wifi´s are related to companys i visited, and I need to get in touch with the admin to get the password. That is nasty.
Hi i dont know the answer for the question but i would suggest a way to get wifi password but you should root your device which has wifi passwords i mean your previous device then use the app from play store there are many apps available to show your wifi password stored but root is required i know its pretty hard solution but this is what I know
@ Manivannan9444
Thanks for your reply about a work around, but I do not have the Mate 9 available, i sold it already.
As I am using the OP6 for mobile payment, I can´t unlock the bootlader - this will stop the App´s for payment from working.

I recently switched from a Pixel XL to OP6. The wifi settings were transferred correctly. It could be a bug, it could be a problem with your old phone too. Sorry, don't have the actual answer.

Bumble (dating app) install issue / possible hack?

Hey guys,
so I lately had a bunch of issues with my Samsung and had to restore several backups etc after failed firmware updates.
Sometimes I lost a few apps, had to reinstall it, etc - it was a HUGE mess. I'm fairly certain at some point bumble downgraded me because I had so many reinstalls/reactivations/etc.
Here's the issue - I'm trying to create a new account and its easy to get around geo-location, IP and new phone-number and verification but I'm fairly certain they also track my device-ID or device-IDs if that changed with the backup/restores/reactivations.
I downloaded device-ID-changer and all the apps show up, ASIDE bumble... I'm wondering if I screwed up something like the registry (if android has something like this) with all the re-installs... the app opens, works, all good, but I can't sign up on this device because of the ID.
I'm on Pie so every app has a separate ID but Device ID changer cant find app.bumble.com.
I can sign up just fine from my tablet (on Nougat) - set geo-location/proxy/verification, easy - works every time, but as soon as I log in on phone I'm getting kicked off.
Where could the issue be? Why can't Device ID changer not find the app? Is there a way to find out if something went wrong with the install? I HIGHLY doubt they hardcoded all my device IPs in the installer (tried offline installs as well, so 0 change they send data down)
Could someone check if Device ID Changer 2019 can find com.bumble.app in the list on their phone?
thanks
