Ring Tones - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

Is there any way to copy ring tones from a Note 9 to my new Note 10 ?
I'd like to keep the ones I've been using.

Are they the stock ringtones or custom ones? I always use custom ringtone and just copied the contents of my 1Plus 6T and moved them to my Note 10+ via USB and PC.

They are the stock Note 9 tones. Are they saved as individual files somewhere on the phone?
There's a Ringtone folder but it's empty.

Sorted. I found the tones by name on line.

Custom notification sounds for EVO?

Is there an app out there or instructions on how to add custom sounds for message notification? The reason I ask is I am a HUUUGGGEEE Monty Python fan (as is the Mrs.) and I had trimmed down a bunch of sound bites from various movies and used them as ring tones and notification sounds on previous phones. So, naturally, since I now own (a fully rooted, I might add EVO4G) I'd love to put them on it.
THANKS!
Make a folder for the ring-tones and one for the notifications. Put tones in those folders then place both folders on the sd card.

Thanks! I'll try that and post my results.
The only negative thing I found about this is if you're using your sdcard as storage then you lose all your custom sounds.
Maybe not that big a deal for some since its not like you always have it as usb storage but i found it annoying.
Since you're fully rooted I like to put my ringtones etc directly with the other system ringtones to avoid that problem all together.

[Q] Custom ringtones

Hey all,
How can I set custom ringtones on a Nexus 5 (not rooted)?
There's no option just to set an MP3 file as one.
Thanks

Go to the "sdcard" folder (user storage area, where you put stuff), look for the ringtones folder, stick the mp3 in there. It'll automatically show up in your list of selectable ringtones.

If you install some sort of file explorer (like ES File Explorer) then you should be able to set one when it asks you which app to use to select the ringtone.
Aside from that, if you copy/paste files to the Nexus after plugging in the USB cable and having the Nexus set up as an MTP, that usually works as long as you put the files into the Ringtone or Notifications folder.

My Ignorant Housekeeping
Thanks for the stock ringtones. I must have ignoringly deleted them when either using the CleanMaster junk clearing or trying to reset playlists for the phone.
I have since added ringtones from my music collection via: Settings > Sound > Ringtones. Now that I have the stock ringtones, I would like to remove those that I have added but could not find where they were stored. Do you happen to know where Android could have stored ringtone or shortcut files via the Settings?
By the way, I am using the Note 4, SM-N910U.
Thanks.
all the sound are usually inside system/media folder.
you can also create the same folder inside your ext sdcard.
media/Alarms ---> alarm sound
media/Notifications ---> notification
media/Ringtones ---> for ringtone
all the sound will be shown on the settings.

Custom sounds (notifications, ringtones....)

Hi folks,
I'm just setting up my P40 Pro to see how it will perform in every day life for me So far things are looking good, but on my path to customization I stumbled across the issue of custom sounds for notifications and ringtones.
In the past and with past android phones all sounds installed in the "Ringtones", "Notifications" and "Alarms" folders in internal storage would be used by the media manager and could be selected in the corresponding menus in settings.
With the P40P in settings I get a choice of preinstalled sounds plus the option for "Music on device" - apparently this really does only check in the "Music" folders on internal and external storage, but not in the other folders.
Any idea how to set ringtones and genereal notification sounds from sounds in storage ?
A big thanks in advance,
Axel

I had a "ringtone" (note, no "s" at the end) folder at /storage/emulated/0/Music/, this is where I put my ringtone files. If the folder is not there just create one...

Facebook messenger sound.

Hi all.
I am using Messenger for Facebook chat. Problem that I have is notification sound. I can't turn it off. I have put all options into Silent, however whenever I get any message, it plays sound.
Has anyone got the same issue?
Hello,
Download the attachment and extract the mp3 from the zip file. Put the mp3 file in the notifications folder from the internal memory of the phone.
Go to facebook messenger app -> notifications and sound and select silence as a notification sound.
Good luck

There is a folder "Notifications" in root of your phone
Put it there then follow upper guide. Basically you are choosing sound this sound instead default one. This is notification without sound so it is quiet.
Unfortunately I don't have this folder. I'm using a Huawei p40 pro with latest emui. Would it work if I created a folder with that name?

You can set your notification sound on settings - sound and vibration - notification sound - music on device.
Or you want it for Messenger too ??
You can create a folder named "Notifications" without any problem. Or see the locations from which you can choose and put the sound there.
I put it in the "sounds" and it works. Thanks guys!
