Better Color Saturation on MotoG7Power - Moto G7 Power Themes, Apps, and Mods

I used an old app i downloaded 2 years ago called Color Changer Pro.
The Moto g7 power lcd colors are a bit dull.
This app has made me love this phone more and I'm more at ease that I traded in the US variant Samsung a205u. I did like the screen colors on that phone though.

Does that work without root?
If it does, post a link please.
Thankyou

The grainy displays are a very common characteristic of LG G Flex phones as they are Plastic OLEDs.
I dont know why this is more noticable in some phones than in other ones, but this happens to these displays.

Is my g stylo screen defective ???

Compare to my zte zmax and note 4, the color on the stylo screen is not so white, is this the default color setting or the I just happen to received a bad screen device.

Thank you so much with your help
Do you think I could try with KCAL color calibration, or should I return it

Screen issue? (uneven brightness/darkness)

My OP6 have this uneven lighting on my screen. It is visible when you have a dark grey background, in a dark room, and the brightness is on 5%-10%. It's also visible when you open up chrome app and close all the tabs until you got nothing but a dark background and a + for new tabs. Is this normal? Or should I RMA it?

Here you go
I don't think that's normal at all. At least my OP6 doesn't have that. The brightness is even across the entire screen.
Normally the issue only have Huawei and the LG OLED Panels.
OnePlus 6 have an SAMSUNG Super AMOLED Display, and there is no issue with uneveness Display in low brightness.
Can anyone else confirm this if it's normal or not? Please try again and use this image i attached. The uneveness is quite visible with it.
Go in a dark room.
Full screen it (make sure there's no other bright elements are showing).
And lastly, set your brightness to about 10%.
Please tell me it's normal :/
*edit. Funny, can't seem to upload the pic.
Welp.

@aserate: I have the same issue. I tested it yesterday and saw some lines and uneveness.
Im happy, that I bought the OP6 from Amazon. Now I give the OP back and buy the Mi Mix 2S without AMOLED.
Only Samsung build AMOLED Display without uneveness and lines. I tested the screen from Mate 10 Pro, P20 Pro, Google Pixel 2 XL, LG V30, OP 5T,...
All of these smartphones had a problem with the OLED / AMOLED Displays.
Im wondering, that the user, who test the phone for YouTube or a mobile site, dont see the bad screen.
I bought the Mate 10 Pro 3 times ans the P20 Pro 2 times from different stores. All the devices had a bad screen.
I hate the UI from Samsung, that is why I only buy now smartphones without AMOLED, only IPS or Super LCD.
I don't have this issue. I checked 5 different OP6 units and all were ok. Only one had some slight uneven brightness, but not as visible as on your picture.
Appreciate your feedback. I guess i have to rma this since it's clearly an issue. Praying the replacement won't have this. Sad to know after watching linus' op factory tour with all that quality checking and stuff, common issue such as this still exist. Welp.
There is a way to completely deactivate the top part of the display to completely hide notch. But I don't want clock on the left of the notch I want it on both. There is a way?

Rubbish? I´d tested all of the phones:
- S8 & S8+
- S9 & S9+
-Note 8
All of them don´t had any display issues.
I´d tested:
- Mate 10 Pro
- P20 Pro
All of them had uneveness and lines on the OLED Display
I´d tested now:
- OnePlus 6
THis phone has uneveness, too.
Now I have OnePlus 5T and this phone has a perfect OLED display.
If I have the chance, to get a samsung phone with OnePlus Oxygen OS, I would like to swap asap!

i rest my case as you said all are perfect this proves other wise
Got the same issue. Also on my fourth device already because of loose alert sliders. my fourth device has a loose alert slider and an uneven screen. right side is darker than the left side and its noticable in dark menus, notification shade etc on low brightness
No problems for me here in terms of uniformity.
Great panel, but I wish the calibration was better:
- calibration too cold
- oversaturated
- gamma way too high
- black crush
I had this problem in 2 Oneplus 6. I made a RMA and got a new unit, without the banding, but a defective corners (a white glow in dark images). So I got another one, finally a perfect unit.
The other one was purchased via amazon, with the same banding issue, so I got an exchange.
All of them were red Oneplus 6.
The OP customer service was very helpfull resolving the problem. I give a 10 to them.
Anyone can check the screen with this images or an app called oled tools. You need a dark enviroment and low brightness
Im kind of hestitant to replace since im on my fourth device already and dont feel like waiting anymore. Thinking about returning and waiting for the 6t. Id have to use my galaxy s5 for a few extra months though...
I just received my replacement unit 2 days ago, I was waiting for it for almost a MONTH. Unfortunately, I still have the screen issue. I can't believe I was waiting for nothing. While waiting for the replacement, I only used a f***ing keypad phone, and it was really hard for me. Have I known this issue is fairly common, I haven't RMA'd my unit just to have a big chance to have the same issue again.

Discussion: LG G7 screen - the best out there for white color

Just compared the G7 screen with: S10e, LG V40, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, P30 Pro, Iphone Xs Max, Xperia 10 and when it comes to reproduce the white color or max brightness, the G7 came up first. I would say second was the Xperia 10, but with not that much brightness.
Verry impressed, never thought that.
I also enebled comfort view on all phones and played with the adjustment bar for best results.
Also did some Hdr comparison with the V40 and I would say there is no more than 5-10% difference in color saturation in favor of the oled. It just competed very well with oleds.
One strange thing was that the black levels on the V40 seemed not that black for an oled, seemed like the G7 black. Weird.
I just think this display is maybe the best out there. Good job LG and I will miss this display on my next maybe G8 or V50.
This was my best comfort view settings.
Experiment no 2:
Today I have compared with:
S10e, S10+, P30 Pro and the results are that G7's screen is Number 1!
Next experiment with photos and maybe putting the flash on the s10+ambient sensor to trigger max brightness. But for whites and also color vibrance, G710 wins. Go and check for yourselfs.
Cheers ?!
Experiment no3: in hurry
LG G7 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro
Full brightness on all, blue filter on all. Best adjustment to match the pure white.
Photos are shot with P30pro and mate 20 pro
G7 destroys latests OLEDs from huawei.
Color temp is overkill for G7, ridicilous 9000K. Look at this graph https://www.anandtech.com/show/13039/the-lg-g7-review/4
I found best white for my eyes with this settings (other colors look fine). Expert: all in middle, night filter etc turned off

For me this is blueish. Best for me is auto color and comfort view around 75%.
But it seems that the display now is AI controlled and also color temp has been improved since Anand tech test. Also I don't trust these display tests with specialized hardware and software. Best sensor is the human eye.
I noticed that when I took photos of the display, the camera sensor cannot replicate it's original color. Also anandtech test is based on hardware. Best sensor is the human eye. Period. No other sensor can replicate accurate.

I know v40 has purple ish display panel when it's showing black, which is better than lighter grey on v30. But is it worse than competitors?

Do We have a Crap Screen or is it just mine?

I have downloaded this on my Netflix App Stranger Things 3 Ep1. I was using Xs Max prior to this. So when watching this episode I realised its too dark even in daylight scene. So I compared it to iPhone 8 Plus & Xs Max at the same scene & there was Night & Day Difference
No Matter whichever mode I selected the scene looked crap on Op7 pro ,Video Enhancer seemed to have no effect whatsoever.
No my question is ,Is That due to Hdr or screen is very much inferior? Or is it just the calibration done wrong by Oneplus.
If I root & flash custom kernel Will I be able to make it better?
Images attached are in full brightness on all the phones without any edits.
Even Lcd is better than Op7 Pro
Vs 8 plus its Nature Mode & Vs Xs Max its Srgb
I think its only yours. My colors are extremly colorful and sharp.

In general screen is vibrant & sharp but In videos when compared its not as bright as others
This is the screenshot taken of Comparison between the both from Pocket Now .See the colours, It's dull in Op7 Pro
The One Plus looks for realistic to me. The other phones seem blown out.

Can we tweak this with custom kernel or custom rom like Havoc or Lineage OS
The 7 pro should get brighter then the 8 plus. Compare hdr videos on YouTube.
I noticed the note 9 gets brighter with more clarity in direct sunlight compared to the 7 pro. But the 7 pro istill gets plenty bright and overall I prefer its larger 90hz display. It's possible there could be some variation in displays between units. Only way to test yourself is compare it with another pro.
To me it simply looks like the 7 pro is dimmer, which is normal, and the calibration is different but that mostly depends on how you set it on both. If you're going from an XS Max to a 7 pro DO NOT expect a similar quality screen, apple has way stricter QC and have the best calibrated screens, probably cherry picked as well, it's just a phone that costs nearly twice as much as the other so no surprise. I don't mean the 7 pro is bad, I think it's better than the s10 plus if we leave brightness out of the equation, you just shouldn't expect it to be on par with the more expensive iphones, which are demonstrated to be the best on the market.
For Me Brightness is not an issue, It's just that the screen in the videos seem dull or less vibrant when compared at same brightness levels. It looks like its calibrated in such a way that it suppress colours.
Is it possible to change that with a custom kernel or roms like havoc have their own calibration?
I would have bought S10+ if they launched sd variant here,Exynos is just ridiculous
I have the OP 7 Pro and a friend with an iPhone XS Max and his gets brighter but he likes the looks (color) and sharpness better on the 7 Pro. The pro is more true color and you can punch up the saturation more if you like. I think I have my 7 Pro display set on advanced>Display P3 and the slider bar about 55-60% if you used the Cold at 0% and Warm at 100% so it's slightly toward the warm side from the half way mark of the slider. This gives the 7 Pro display a bit more of a richer color.
Forget about the 90hz, the 7 Pro is just full on ridiculously better then any other phone but the one that's 120hz (Asus or ROG phone I think) especially since you can just force 90hz all apps on the fly (JOnePlus Tool app in Play store) and really see very little battery drain differences.
There is a HBM (high brightness) app you can use. Not sure if you need to be rooted or not. No issues here. Screen is beautiful.

It's a netflix HDR problem, even in 4k TVs.
Try a non HDR movie or series.
I was disappointed as well, but seems like it's got nothing to do with OnePlus.

I was watching the same show on Netflix today and I thought it was bad to. It was daylight out, but was very hard to see. Way to dark. I'm rooted so I don't think that matters. Maybe it's just that recording or stream.

You've probably already tried this but try playing around with the different picture settings (Screen calibration).
Also maybe try toggling the video enhancer option as well.

Regardless, I'll admit it's my mistake but still no need to be snarky about it.
I think with the alternative kernel is possible only to active the bright mode that push the nits at the max. I think is not possible to modify the contrast ecc... Like the s10+ video mode
