* Attempts to fix Always on Display, should be better now
* Complete device tree rework
29.07.19
* Aspect ratio fix for pre-O apps
* Sync with crDroid repo
* bring up some build.props from MIUI
* some minor fixes..

Can I use Okita Kernel or rom is not ready for it? Is it usable for daily use or is it an "alpha" version?

@faust93,
I would be glad about a lineage version of you

Hi @faust93! Thanks for your great work!
Is it a different version from the Havoc post?
I tried this one and and no 4g and no keyboard... Can you tell me if those bugs are fixed (just reinstalled Havoc...)?
Thanks!

Please would you be able to use some stable mirror to download rom? svr4.ru is often down.

It's different version. Keyboard is here. To fix 4g check your APN settings (if it's empty 3dots->Reset to default should help).

Hello dear developer,
First of all big thanks for your very early development effort!
Regarding the installation steps you mention:
Do you mean "erase internal storage completely" with format data? Because that would also erase the vendor partitition...
So I guess you mean to wipe system, data and cache and then Flash crDroid, right? So the steps are
Install recent MIUI
Wipe System, data, Cache, dalvik
Install crDroid
... And so on... (like you say from point 3) on)
Am I right in my assumption?

No, you are not right. He means: press "Format data". No problem.

@shisaya24: Vendor partition is separate and you can update vendor / firmware via: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com without flash miui global, dev, xiaomi.eu, etc.

@faust93
Thanks for developing the ROM.
I'm really sorry for asking, but when can we expect the ROM to be stable enough to use as a daily driver? I really hate MIUI at the point of it's RAM management and I can't wait for changing it to something stock-like.
Kind regards.

I think it is difficult to answer that. It is relative what means stable. Havoc was also possible used as a daily driver just after a few builds. You can try do full backup via TWRP ... flash crDroid and answer for yourself if you want him like daily driver.

Testing right now:
FP ok
Face unlock ok
4G ok
Phone ok
It seems way faster than Havoc in particular FP and FaceUnlock.
So far so good!

Awesome! I feel like a kid in a shop full of candy... CRDroid and Havoc, the two best os for a smartphone! Thank you @faust93

Installing, I will post my opinion
edit: so far so good! Everything seem to work, I didn't test Google Pay yet. I'm not sure but it feels slower than xiaomi.eu tho...
edit2: my journey with this ROM just began, I'm staying My lags have stopped, and everything works as expected. I'm happy to say its first stable rom for Grus.
Thanks dev, keep on great work!

Thanks for pointing out - so I simply download one of the recent Firmware zips from that side, then completely wipe my phone incl internal storage (Format data option) and then install firmware zip + crdroid?
Did I get it right this time?

@shisaya24
Yes you can do complete wipe + flash vendor / firmware via: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com and after that flash crDroid.

Sorry about the noob questions, but I really like more stock android look, but I also like some MIUI features as well.
So if I install this rom(since I'm not familiar with it), would I be able to install the stock MiUI Camera app?
And does this rom have MIUI like gestures for navigation?
Am I going to be able to use onscreen fingerprint sensor?

Yes, you can install stock miui camera but its not recommended, i would say install gcam instead.
Miui Gestures can be obtained by this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.le.miui10gestures&hl=en_US
I'm using it now and it feels great!
Fingerprint is 100% functional.

If you already got a custom recovery (TWRP for example) installed, you can skip this step.
1. Download the vendor file from here and the Evolution ROM from here.
2. Boot into TWRP Recovery.
3. Flash the vendor file.
4. Wipe cache and dalvik
5. Flash the Evolution ROM.
6. Format Data, be sure you format data and not just wipe.
7. Reboot to recovery.
The step to Format Data is necessary in some cases where you come from a different ROM which does have a different file system.

However when I try to install the update, it fails everytime. Also installing the apk fails everytime.

disable the google camera system app and install a modded version from here. most of them work but i find BSG to be the best. if you want an open source camera there are some on the play store and maybe on fdroid. i will try to include a working camera like snap cam on a future build.
After clean ROM, recovery and firmware flash, fingerprint unlock is not working, it's saying "Hold a little longer" even though I holding it all the time. Rest looks smooth and stable, SafetyNet, L1, all cameras (BSG version here) too.

I came from ArrowOS 11.0 and did a dirty flash; without wiping cache/dalvik. I installed ArrowOS with Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_11.02.2020.zip and did that again on this Rom. The only thing I would like is to get rid off that horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. You can see it at the picture. Anyone an idea? Thanks!

it's been over 1.5 months and no updates.... the ROM seems stable and responsive for now but a monthly security update is much needed.

That's a shame. I'm using Nova Launcher. I tried to switch to the native launcher, lock the apps and switch back to nova but it had no effect (makes sense, since it's a launcher thing)
Great ROM!
Though I am currently facing two issues, one is that if I use a different launcher like the provided crdroid launcher the home glitches, and also the sensors like accelerometer GPS compass, etc. aren't working. Is anyone else facing these problems and if so any solutions?

1. The launcher may be incompactable or needs module support like quickswitch.
2. This can be occur to serveral reasons.
-did you flash gapps after first boot?. try deleteing /data/misc_de/*/apexdata/com.android.permission/runtime_permissions.xml
or clean flash rom , dont forget flash gapps before first boot.
2nd cause is this may occur if you are coming from a pie based rom
check your sensors using sensorbox app in play.google.com

I was using MIUI stock before this and while in the stock I had all the sensors available in the sensor box app.
And I did flash gapps, but not after first boot but rather after flashing the crdroid Rom itself.
I will reflash the Rom and will update you shortly!

Fixed Update!
I had to revert back to my stock MIUI with the official fastboot Rom to regain sensor functionality, and after flashing crDroid again, it's working fine, and the launcher issue is gone too.
Hi, great ROM, thanks!
Some minor issue: the apps are not quite sorted; regardless of launcher (even default one), the list is sorted until the last ones:
...
SatStat
Telegram
Waze
Contacts
Files
Settings
What are "Contacts", "Files" and "Settings" doing there and how do I get them to their proper places?
Is anyone else facing stability issues? I have had frequent crashes of the system UI forcing a restart.
after upgrading from 8.2 to 8.5, the mobile network signal became very weak
Is Violet still supported?
Thank you so much for continuing supporting this phone with a google-less option!
Thank you
Can someone help me out: I'm trying to wipe my phone after installing this ROM (messed up some things so basically reinstalling).
However if I try to wipe the data in Orange Fox, I get a TON of errors
Here's the last one in an incredibly long list (takes two minutes to scroll through): Error opening: '/data/ssh/OFJF8xpsY7U8SodJ9qcy6B' (Operation not permitted)
There are a ton of files in the sdcard that I can't open or access or do anything with.
I've never encountered this type of problem before, how do I fix it exactly?
Edit: To clarify, I can't wipe the data partition and I don't know why that is.
Is there anyway to disable the auto app suggestion in the dock at the bottom of your screen?
I like having only 4 apps in there and like the gap for the visual break it gives me. But its quite annoying that the last used app is automatically going in there.
Solved: Click on the home screen - settings - misc - last option (I think its called suggestions)

Yeah even crdroid is working for me after a reset of settings in system.. One thing I notice is display color bug. Whatever I chose, the colors dont seem to change. Can I manually change them? Nameless had a slider for RGB

I flashed Gapps and still had same issue with touchscreen. Used the buttons to force boot it into fastboot mode then start it and touchscreen was still not responding. Forced it into fastboot again and reflashed rom and now it's working but have no Gapps. Wondering if the Gapps is what did it or ??? Still playing around yet but holy cats I don't have to wait for Evolution X now anymore because this has just as much if not more customization options... THANK YOU!!!

Don't use full gapps or if you do, don't install pixel launcher as it replaced core crDroid home stuff resulting in crashes
Also do try crDroid home
Imo is a good launcher

It might work, but stick with OP steps, those 110% WORK, but up to you. I gave up on TWRP when A/B partitions came out and chose to just stick with and use stock ROM recovery. That will always work, TWRP, maybe not so much, IDK, it might, but you wont get the same type of help if you choose your own path (TWRP).
Also, just an FYI on nomenclature, this isn't firmware, but ROM, firmware contains all partitions, drivers, ETC., this is just the OS (ROM).
Thank good bro. Please you can create a version same this version V9, but face id use camera, same same this version 7.2 so you made ( https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=333516). Because i not enough money to buy the normal 4xl, i just enough to buy one no face id. Thank you for your time

Interesting, this is new to me (unable to scan face for a PX4), what type of pixel 4 XL is it then? Or are there hardware issues I missed? I cant comment on this fix (I am not the dev here) but I might be able to help you once I know the scope of work.
@putzwon, I have used this OS (ROM) since Friday, and thoroughly testing EVERYTHING! WOW, I am literally floored at how well EVERYTHING works!!
I have NO ISSUES, NO BUGS, NO SHOWSTOPPERS, nada. Even Now Playing works, I am floored by all of this! It is amazing, and I rarely say that about a ROM (with no bugs also being reported - at the same time), and as I noted earlier, in the past, cRdroid wasn't great for me (random bugs, and/or missing features I rely on). NOT this version, this version IS GREAT FOR ME, I have EVERY SINGLE possible tweak I want/need/use, PLUS functional services / RIL (Radio Interface Layer) I.E. CALLs/TXT/MMS, PLUS no bugs, or FCs, or anything that would keep me away!
Normally, I use LOS, and LOS only (while testing all other ROMs for users and myself), but always landing back with LOS, not this time! I am STICKING WITH cRdroid for the foreseeable future, it is my DailyDriver and will remain so until something changes (but doubtful at this point)!! I have everything I need, baked right into the ROM, so I don't even need my LSPosed modules (other than SafetyNetFix once ROOT'ng)!
EXTREMELY WELL DONE and THANK YOU FOR THIS ROM!!!! For the rest of XDA users, this ROM WORKS! It works EXTREMELY WELL, is bug-free (from my extensive testing and standpoint). I haven't found any bugs yet (not a single one)!

Yes, this is a type of 4XL, it's cheaper to 20% .
Installed it yesterday and almost everything is working perfectly. The only feature that seems to be missing Soli which is a shame since it's a fun novelty.
best rom ever love you

Thanks for the rom. Perhaps anyone could advice me if there is an easy switch from LOS 20 to this rom? If possible I'd like to avoid installing all apps again ... including the "security" features for a couple of sensitiv apps like bank apps.
Perhaps someone knows if restoring a swiftbackup would work.
Thanks

it is easy
i do it everytime I flash a custom rom
you need to root your phone using magisk
then instal
Migrate - ROM backup 5.0.1from play store
open it and take a full backup of your installed apps
copie this backup to your laptop
and after flashing this perfect rom
copie the backup from the laptop to the phone
and root the phone again
and instal
Migrate flasherfrom play store
open it
and flash the file you backed up
this way you will have allll your apps including your banking apps with all your data
you will not have to instal anything twise...
good luck
it is easy
don't worry..
