Jumping from the V30 to the V50. - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Anyone who has it already, do you like it? how does it feel?
Buying one that's unlocked and has the dual screen cover. Excited!

I got one and my last phone is also V30.
Compared with V30, V50 has a much better and larger screen, better cameras, better speakers but is a little heavier.

G Flex 2 Vs. OnePlus X?

Hi guys,
I need a new phone and deciding between the GF2 and the 1+X is incredibly hard. I got an invite, but I'm not sure I should go for it. I need to know soon since I have until tomorrow to decide as the deal on NewEgg for the GF2 ends tomorrow. I love the specs, but do you guys see this device getting support in the future from devs? TWRP would be great.
The model in question is the H950. I was going to flash it to an H950PR though. Thanks.
Oneplus will have more support, LG G Flex 2 bootloader is still locked which makes it almost impossible to make roms/kernels. I went with flex 2 and i like it, snapdragon 810 is beast compared to 801. And i heard the 801 in Oneplus underpreforms in games, but i guess it will be fixed with updates. LG G Flex 2 weakest point in my opinion is screen. In theory it's very good, perfect blacks due to Plastic OLED, nice intensive colors, a little bit too high brightness. But practically a lot of people has some color tints on screen, brightness difference on screen and ,the worst in my opinion, grain, which occur mostly on greyish colors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9pYswQitiU
Some are better, some are worse. I think of sending my phone to LG for display replace, because i have some grainess and little blue tints on left side of my screen.
Thanks for the input. That's what I was thinking, but my worry is after Marshmellow LG is going to leave this device in the dust. Besides that, I'm leaning toward in every way. I love what OnePlus did with the X though so I'm kinda on a fence. In all honesty, a SD 400 is still plenty fast in my eyes which is why I'm a little skeptic. Does the overhearing issue still exist, and do you see this device ever getting an unlocked boot loader? When it does, can we expect ROMs such as CM 13? I just don't know what to do
I think it will get unlocked in future, and people will start to make roms, mods and kernels for Flex 2. It is still most powerful LG device to date, and it has power for atleast few more years, because they didn't go with QHD display like in LG G4 or G3 for example, which is stupid move for me, 1080p denisty on 5.5' Flex 2 is more than necessary, iphone 6s has "only" 326 pixel per inch, but screen is still sharp and less pixels makes its performance one of the best in smartphones. And, LG G4 is "only" SD808 + QHD while Flex 2 is SD810 + FHD. Flex 2 does not overheat in my opinion. It gets pretty warm, and system slows down hardware a little, but the device isn't too hot and performance is still top shelf. I have little blue tint on my screen and some grainess, i'm going to send it back to LG for replace, will see if things get better or worse
//Edit: And wow, this phone is super handy and comfortable. I was worried, because my previous LG Optimus G was 4.7', i tried to use my friend's 5,5' lenovo and i was sceptical about big displays. But the curve and design makes huge difference for Flex I don't know really why LG acts like they forgot about Flex 2. It is one of the best phones i had and it is pretty cheap if we look at other flagships. I guess they moved on to LG G4 is POLED, which is great, but there is a lot problems with grain, tints, etc.

Totally agree with you. 2k or above resolution is superfluous on 5.5" or smaller screen as we can hardly see the differences with naked eyes and it just weakens the performance and battery of the phone.

V10 or GS7

Which do you guys honestly think is better? I currently have a GS7 but was possibly trading it for a v10 today but can't seem to make up my mind.
There's really no "better." Only what better meets your needs and desires. If audio quality and flexible video recording is really important, the LG is probably the better choice. If water and dust resistance is important, the Samsung. The LG's secondary screen is more useful, I think, than Samsung's Always On Display. But the Samsung phone is much more compact. The Samsung camera is certainly better in low light. I could probably go on listing differences like this for a long time.
I'd suggest making a list of what features are really important to you, what things about your past and current phones you like and don't like. Then go back and reread reviews for both phones, and make notes of which on best ticks the boxes of what's important and what you like, while ticking the fewest boxes of what you don't like.
I prefer the S7 Edge, but what's best for me may not be best for you.

You should check out youtube for some comparison videos. There's not a lot for the GS7 vs the V10 because the V10 is huge. There's more of the GS7 Edge vs V10.
This is a speed & camera test.

There's probably more but these stuck out to me.
I prefer the S7. Feels amazing in the hand.
Thanks to you all. Really wanted a v10 first as the s7 I have was unexpected but now that I have it I don't think I would do it. Thanks again
I would say the S7 is better. I sold my V10 a few days ago after upgrading to the S7. The back buttons on LG phones are a neat idea, but not useful if you are used to having your phone face up on a table. Also the size difference is huge. I'm personally a fan of smaller phones, and I go through a lot of phones. The only cool feature I'd say the v10 has over the S7 is the wide angle front camera and removeable battery.
For me its a winner thanks to the ip68 rating, SD slot, quick processor, better camera, ergonomic button placement and size.
Definitely the S7. I had the V10 and it's an awesome phone, the best phone LG has ever produced in fact. But the S7 is better in pretty much every category except for a removable battery obviously.

Could this be the new X???

Sure looks familiar.

Looks an awful lot like the Style/Pure with slightly smaller bezel. Not getting any hopes up yet as this could simply be a pic overlay.
Please let it be a new Moto X! I was excited for the new Moto, but then the Moto Z was weak, no front facing speakers, and ugly finger print scanner on front, when it so obviously belongs on the back. I liked the ZTE Axon 7, but then it had the software issues and small, unmarked, unbacklit capacitive buttons. I was excited for the Pixel, but then it didnt have front facing speakers, has an uninspired deign with thick bezels and was priced absurdly expensively.
Is a stock android phone with front facing speakers too much to ask for? This phone looks great, even managed to shrink the already crazy thin bezels on the Moto X Pure. Look Moto, just give me the Moto X Pure again, with finger print scanner on back, Snapdragon 821, slightly better camera, and a decent battery life. I'll instantly buy it, even priced at $500.
That being said Motorola has already released a bunch of devices this year, and leak just looks like the Moto X pure with smaller bezels. I'd say it was fake if I had to guess. How would a new Moto X fit into their lineup? Would be a high end device? How would they market it differently than the Moto Z?

Agree with the above. I even ordered a OnePlus 3 on payg via O2 in UK. But then I had a good look at one in the shop and decided it was not an upgrade for the X Style. I cancelled the order. To be honest the X Style isn't all that bad and would consider a new model. So long as it had better battery life, a bright display like the current model and at least the 820.
Not convinced it's real but hope there is something in the pipeline. I'll happily stick with the current Moto x as nothing else really appeals at the moment.

Who thinks the S8 looks better or worse than the G6?

So far all the leak photos make the s8 look quite cheap and plasticky IMHO. I also think the G6 looks a lot like the Note 5.
How does glass looks cheap and plastic?
I like actually like the G6 better, and because it actually has flat screen, I use S7 edge now and it pain the the ass sometimes with my big meat paws, and the S8 looks too tall and skinny. doesn`t look right. lol
after today its not clear which is better
I agree, Samsung is forcing high price Curved only model, millions of people might be stay away when they know S8 available only with curved screen
Nothing wow'd me about the S8 so I'll stick with my S7 Edge.
I am S7 user and I loved flat screen front and curved back, I don't see any technical advantage of having curved screen, also as always UK and maybe Europe version is NOT available with Snapdragon 835, another bad piece of design is position of fingerprint scanner, iris is ok but not a huge advantage, I have doubt that 3000 mAh battery will be not be class leading or better than S7, Bixby is completely gimmicks, Camera review is not out yet but on specs wise it's same apparatus & pixel size and I doubt that Samsung will try to make same old hardware better by optimising and twining software only, No sound DAC, PC attachment is also nothing new as we seen it already, I will wait for full review and see how S8's camera and battery perform, compare with £689 price range Huawei P10 plus, LG G6 or Oneplus 3T 128GB, Dual SIM Midnight black 'limited addition' is also a looker, Best of luck guys
I was on the fence of getting either the G6 or S8. I'm not a big fan of the edge screen. I had the S7 edge and my big hands always touched the screen. With that said, I'm going to order the S8 over the G6. For the simple reason is price and newer specs. If I don't like the curved screen I'll just sell it or return it if Verizon offers the free restocking when our based online.

It clearly looks better than the G6 to me

Neither is great tbh. But the S8 has then "edge" for now. I'll wait and see the weeklong ownership reviews before I decide. Who knows, the note 8 might be the phone to get when it drops this year, but when?

The S8's could win beauty contests including Victoria's Secret! : cool:
I prefer the one that doesn't have curved screen.
Currently have the G6 and it is a fantastic phone. Never used a phone with an 835 SOC as have neither of you so I cant say which is Faster. But the G6 is certainly smooth, and that flat screen is Awesome for glass screen protectors. But, IMO the LCD panel (which looks good) is nothing compared to the Oled samsung panel (subjective, yes). It seems im turning the brightness up to 60%+ just to feel comfortable using it, Its too dim otherwise. Previous phones Ive been able to keep the brightness on 30-40% and been happy (inside of course) Having had the 6P, S7 and OnePlus 3T with the amoled panels, this LCD on the G6 just doesnt do it for me. I personally even think the LCD on the iPhone 7+ looks better and Im not an iPhone fan. Also, and maybe this is over critical, I feel like the edges of the G6 display all leak a bit of light, especially the top. For some reason it just drives me crazy (OCD? ) So Im giving the G6 to one of my kids and getting the S8+

Same thing here the G6 might look nice compare to older models but is not doing for me.
I've been to my local VZW store and they are both on display. While I like them both, I feel the S8 is the better of the two. The sleekness of the S8 is amazing. It feels better than my pixel in my hand. The display is awesome. I'm ordering mine tonight from Verizon. There is not a restocking fee when you order on line. So if I don't like it back it will go. I'm pretty confident I'll love it. The only thing that will ruin it is poor battery life.

I went from a S7E to a V20 and the first thing I noticed was the huge downgrade in screen quality. I'm happy to go back to Samsung.
I've only seen the G6 online and in videos, so I can't comment on the hands-on take, just yet anyway. I was honestly a lil concerned when I saw that the S8 was ONLY going to have a curved display, as I'm used to my flat display on my S6. Feeling the S8 firsthand, it honestly doesn't feel bad at all to me. Feels very similar to what holding my S6 feels like. Unlike the older Edge models, the sides aren't pronounced, like they don't feel as thin. For instance, the S6 Edge was too thin and not that comfortable to hold, and while the S7 Edge improved on it, the flat variant felt better.
From what I've seen with the G6, it doesn't look like a bad phone and it probably doesn't feel bad in the hand, but Samsung pushing the curved displays on both their regular and plus variants this time around, seems a bit more innovative and honestly, look way more sleek and futuristic. Flat displays are the standard as we know it since the first smartphones hit the market, so they all start to look the same -- I mean, how much can you really innovate on a flat display?
If your frame of reference for feel and usefulness of curved screens is the S7 Edge you are in for a welcome surprise. I have big hands and was frustrated from day one by the occasional (several times a day) false edge screen touch on the S7 Edge. Luckily (and unluckily) I broke my S7 Screen. When I took it in for replacement, they offered me the Note7 for the same cost as a S7 Edge. So I got the Note 7. Night and day difference in the feel and false touch rejection with the Note7. In the month or two I had a Note7 i think I got accidental edge activation a couple times. On the S7 it was multiple times per day. The phone also feels better in the hand, curved front and back feels so much better than curved front and flat back. My guess is that the S8 will be even better than the Note7 in feel and false touch rejection. And that will be a great thing.
Sold my G6. It's not that great of a device imo. Ready for the S8+. Device of the year until the Note 8 comes out.

The LCD is specifically the reason why I went with the S8. I don't think I can go back after having 2 back to back phones with OLED.

Has anyone went from the t-mobile LG V60 thinQ

To the t-mobile one plus 8? If yes what camera do you think is better? I'm thinking about changing from the t-mobile LG V60 thinQ to the t-mobile one plus 8.any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks In advance!!!

Hi,
Tbh that would be a downgrade. Seeing the spec sheet, the experience would be pretty less pleasant on OP side (expect for that sweet 90Hz, I like it, but it's not amazing, don't buy a phone just to try the 90Hz)
If you still wanna get the OP8, here are pros:
- Lots of ROMs and Kernels
- Long lasting phones due to the support from the devs
- 90Hz display
Here's one con if you care about that : OnePlus is a Chinese brand, more and more people have (justified or unjustified, not getting political here) trust issues with Chinese devices.
Other cons:
- Smaller battery (4200 vs 5000)
- no headphone jack
- camera setup is very very bad compared to LG
- Lower screen res
- No OLED screen
- No IP rating (but it seems to be a bit water resistant, you can dip it into water, but if you hit lower than 1 m deep, your phone is most likely dead)
I personally think the v60 might be better, especially if you get the dual screen case. I personally had a V20 and loved it. You might lose some software updates and longevity though.
LG is much better. Especially with the camera. Lgs cams are really good and OnePlus cameras are incredibly "meh" with the stupidest damn camera software you could imagine . But it works for point and shoot, just enough.
However, unless I'm missing something new, the v60 you cannot root, which is the only reason I've been running the OnePlus devices since the v30 to the 6T
I owed the v60... Actually just sold it last week and I regret selling it. Camera's better, screen is better and has better battery life.
OnePlus 8 wins in software and 90 Hertz refresh rate... Which is very noticeable.
