No DC Dimming in global ROM. - Nubia Red Magic 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

:crying:
I think it's the most important feature. Cannot stand the PWM flicker.

+1 same issue. Pretty disappointing to be honest.

They removed a lot on the global version.

Raise your questions in red magic fb post. If all ask to provide updates. Then they think provide this feature.

Hmmmm... I wonder why would anyone want to change to global rom if it's underdeveloped compared to the china rom which has a lot of features and an english language. Same thing was posted in another board for k20 pro, others keep yapping that the global rom has some bugs and whatnots compared to the china rom with english language.

changing to the Chinese room and having full Google support, that might be the best way to go.

Global rom is more lightweight, if it has DC dimming, I will prefer it than Chinese ROM. Chinese rom have too much nubia services, and it push ad notification automatically. And battery life is poor than global rom (Need further test)

Will this phone support Project Treble?

I assume that since the Mi Mix 2s ships with Oreo that it will support Project Treble, is this correct?
Will this make custom ROMs easier to make? Will we still need to wait for sources?
Yes, it will support Project Treble so making a custom ROM should be quite easy. Hopefully @skeleton1911 makes one for Mix 2S because his work is awesome.

Clean AOSP MIUI based ROM.
Pre-rooted with Magisk and de-bloated from Chinese apps, it was probably the first thing that interested me while looking at Mix 2's ROMs and probably the very first ROM I would instantly flash after buying Mix 2, aiming for MIUI features without useless stuff.

Not really. MIUI is not really the western tastes outside of Iphone people, but that wont matter as not many in the west will get the device.

Ahh:-
Whats the reason for the ban out of interest ?
If anything I was hoping for LineageOS or similar availability for it (at least).

I work on a military base for a nuclear missiles which requires secure devices. There are very few devices that are allowed there. Samsung and apple being the main ones. Most of the Chinese OEM are banned from use and depending on your job, you cant even own a device from some of them.
That may happen but to be honest I am not a LOS supporter. Too many issues left over from the CM days. Like random reboots, data corruption and issues with BT and WIFI.
Im sure there will be rom ports for the device.

New camera improvments form Mix 3

Hi
just want to share some info about new camera improvements that will come to our Mix 2s
https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/...-uprgades-taking-performance-closer-to-mix-3/
Gizmo China is not a reliable source of information for anything tbh. They post what gets clicks and nothing more. Like their reference to in screen fingerprint which we know isn't real....

Its officially:
Tweet from @donovansung: Mi MIX 3 uses the same rear dual camera modules as #Mi8 and #MiMIX2S. Here are some beautiful shots from photographer 陈业伟.
Our R&D team is working hard to update these two phones ASAP with the same camera software as #MiMIX3. Stay tuned for more updates!

Great news, now someone just has to "only" build a working APK and make this work without MIUI. That would be great!

What about the super slow motion? 960fps, is that implemented for the mix2s
No it's not but night mode works.
There is new version on GCam, some say that it works slowmotion , but on mi8, i try on mix2s and doesnt work.
Good news
The super slow motion (960fps) feature is now added to the mix 2s as well
at least on xiaomi.eu

Yes I think so, that's similar to how other phones implement the feature as well
Okay lets sum things up:
So far 8.11.15 from Mix 3 we received:
-960 Slow-mo
-Fixed Libs
-Night Mode
Good so far.
Any word on the global stable version? Looking forward to the new camera features ???

Wasn't there a word about improving image/video quality in general?! I am not sure but I think I read that somewhere...
Sorry but I'm new to mi mix 2s. I am on global stable miui 10. Can I go to beta from that? And if so could some one point me in the direction for the instructions.....

Lock screen / notifications, Pixel style

Hi,
I recently switched from Pixel Experience back to MIUI global because I couldn't live with the adaptive brightness problems and relative poor battery life. So far MIUI works okay, I changed the launcher to Nova, but I really liked the black notification screen / OAD on the Pixel devices. Like this: https://www.xda-developers.com/files/2017/11/Google-Pixel-Always-on-Display.png
Do you know if there's a mod / theme that can add this, or style the current notifications? Thanks in advance!
There is magisk module named Pix3lify. I haven't tested it yet...
Do you want that on a LCD screen?
I would highly recommend HavocOS, it's probably the best aosp rom for the Mix 2S. It puts pixel experience to shame lol.

Yeah why not? Worked great on PE. And the screen also activates on the stock rom, only the layout is different.

It's pure aosp
I tried to use it as a daily. It was pretty stable BUT the camera app sucks and you can't replace it with Gcam and there's no fingerprint reader. Apart from that everything i needed it for worked including android for work.

There is not much to see. Google how Android 11 looks and that's it. There are no extras.
I wish this was the Android experience Xiaomi offered for all their phones (of course with the bugs fixed), albeit some of their features are cool.
I was not able to install any apk outside Google Play Store for some reason, the Camera app is limited to the 64MPx and Front 20MPx, UI is not adjusted for the rounded corners so some text overflows behind that and I was not able to root the phone either. But still not bad and works fine even for a daily driver.

It just looks like AOSP (standard Android) as there is no MIUI or any other custom launcher/ui on top of that. And the appearance of that you can Google or find on YouTube etc.

8T appdrawer

Hi,
When i browse the internet, i often see screeshots or videos of some OnePlus 8T app drawer with alphabetical letters at the right of the screen like the one there. But i cant find that option with my OP8T (KB2003) running EU C.35 software. The option was never present for me, no matter of the OS version. I hoped that it would be added with an update but...
Is it something different from for NA, IN and EU version for example ?
The image is from OP community 8T forums but i had no luck with an answer.
What do you think ?
Thanks
