Daydream support - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Has anyone been able to test if you can load Daydream now that the display is QHD?

So I got mine today and it loads. Have to wait till I get home to see if it works fully.

I was able to sideload the app as well, but when I tried to place it in the headset, I got this pop-up:

Dang. I didn't get to try it yet. Guess we have to root to get it to work.

Forcing Full Screen

I have a couple of apps that I want to force full screen, because they are not showing full screen, only about 2/3.
The first Sensation I had I was able to do it with spare parts, however, I had to get a new one because that one had issues.
I tried the Spare parts compatibility trick on the new one, and that isn't working anymore.
Anyone know of another way, or maybe why this doesn't work anymore?

after turning off compatibility mode. You have to reboot with out fast boot on.
To do that go to settings ---> power -----> then uncheck "Fast Boot"
now reboot your phone. you can turn fast boot back on after if you want.
I thought it wasn't working also then i did this.
i love you. Worked perfectly

Looks like some security updates and others report performance enhancements shaving off up to 2 seconds on opening apps from cold.
Looks like the firmware update fixed the issue with playing music stored from sd card with the screen off.
Firmware update failed to install for me...
Under Control Panel / View Update History:
Failed
Error code: 800F020B
Not able to find the update to try again either.
I got all the updates in little bits... the firmware was last but it looks like it improved performance!!
Update failed for me also, same error, can't find a way to reinstall it, Windows Update states that no updates are available.

I found a way to fix this:
Open Control Panel on the desktop, go to System, and Device Manager.
In Device Manger, find Firmware, and double-click Surface RT System Aggregator Firmware
Go to Driver, and Roll Back Driver.
When this is done, restart Windows, then run Windows Update again.

I take it back. It only made it a little better. Instead of stopping the music after 10 sec with the screen off, it stops after the song is over. You still have to manually turn on the screen for the next song to play. Lame.
how long does the updating take? im stuck on first update out of 11 (firmware) for like 20 minutes allready .. what should i do?
edit : working... dont mind me

You need to talk to the app developer for that one, they need to properly implement Connected Standby for it to work right.
Unless you're talking about the MS music apps, in which case I don't know what your issue is, they work for me in standby.

Music stored on the SSD works fine. Music on the SD does not.

OK Google Only Works In App

Just started having this issue today. Previously I was able to say OK Google anytime the device was on. Now it seems that I have to actually open up the Google app to get OK Google to work. Anyone else have this issue? Resolutions?
Same issue

I can't use OK Google, and OTA doesn't work because the OTA process detects that I'm rooted, and tells it tells me No Update for you. Why does Samsung always have to make things more difficult than they should be?

The same thing happened to me. Though my situation was a bit weirder. I got it to work this morning (about an hour ago), then 5 minutes later, it wouldn't and the setting to use it from any screen disappeared.
I'm having the same issue.
My "OK Google" detection from any screen option disappeared.
same here
option is gone
only work if i have the widget on home screen
Weird, I keep seeing this issue pop up in several threads. Mine works just fine. For what it's worth, I'm on the latest OTA and rooted, using Nova Launcher.
Same here. I have even tried it the first time with the lock screen, but now I can only use it with the screen on. Options for screen off have dissapeared
I just updated my google play services to this one
http://www.talkandroid.com/245692-go...d/#more-245692
installed the apk, now my google detection from any screen is gone now to , might have to do with this version of the play services.

Phone freezes up

Has anyone experienced your U11+ freezing up.
It has happened to me about 3 times.
It generally happens over night while it's charging. I get up one of those mornings and the green light is on, remove the charging cable and I can't wake up the phone. I can't even turn off the phone by pressing and holding the power button to kill the device. The only way is to put it into download mode by simultaneously holding down the vol down key and power key, and then when the menu comes up to select the reboot option to get the phone back to normal.
Has anyone else experienced this or know what could be causing this to happen?
The problem is that I use my phone as my alarm clock, and when it freezes up, my alarm doesn't work.
Any suggestions anyone?
No problem like that until now.
However, noticed sometimes that the my alarm, which is setup for vibration only, only vibrates once and then continues silently alarming until I turn it off.
Happens randomly but still strange. I've to try with another clock app.
That's really odd.
I'm going to turn off the always - on feature and see if I get anymore freezes. I had another one this afternoon.
I'll report back after some time and let you know if there has been no more freezes.
I'm just updating to the latest update 1.23.709.3 and see also how it performs.
I'm a bit concerned about this random freezing that I have experienced since I got this device.
If it persists I may ask for a new one.

I'm still on the October security patch so I'm expecting one for the December period soon I hope.
In regards to your freezes I've not encountered anything like that so far been working flawlessly so far if there is anything I can test let me know
I have the Taiwan version.
If you could try the always-on feature for a couple of days and nights and report back, that would be awesome. However, I selected the option, for always-on to only come on when I moved the phone. (good for night time use especially)
I had my phone in the pocket yesterday afternoon and it froze.
As I stated earlier, I can only restart the phone only by putting it into download mode and reboot from there.

Thanks for letting me know.
I guess I can rule that feature out as a probable cause.
It must be some other app that's causing this issue. But it's a pain to go through the process of finding out which one.

Yeah trial and error isn't fun. I'd probably factory reset though and see if it happens with barely any third party apps installed.

I have the HK model I think and I had the AOD when I first got it, set to motion and nothing has happened to my phone in regards to freezing fingers crossed. I have disabled it for the moment as I noticed a greater battery usage overall, I believe between 9-10% overnight and only 2% when I had it disabled.
Hopefully you find the problem otherwise see if you can get it replaced...
Since not using the always-on feature, I don't have any more freezes. Must be some conflict with the alarms and always-on. Can't see what else could be causing those freeze ups.
My phone surprisingly just froze up yesterday. But at least it's been a long while since not having the always-on feature enabled. With always-on enabled, it seems to have happened every day.
The issue I have most about this, is missing that important call when I haven't realised that the phone is frozen, because sometimes I don't pick up the phone for hours.
I had to do a complete fresh install from scratch and I have no more issues. I believe all my issues came from using HTC's transfer tool when going from u11 to u11+. Importing all the settings features using the Transfer Tool has caused issues. I'll never use this tool again.
All good now.

Question Can't add dock to Home app

Keeps giving me errors that if they keep happening, to factory reset the device. Really? I just set it up.
All my stuff I have on Google Home on my phone is on the tablet, but the tablet dock itself just can't be added. Any advice?
you trying to add it to itself? or you are trying to add the dock to your phone? Is that even possible since the dock is an "extension" of the tablet?
I am getting the message that something went wrong try factory resetting your device when I try to add mine. Seems to be a problem many are having. I haven't seen a solution yet.

It actually suggests for you to add the dock to your Home app as it gives you more features when it is.

interesting. Well that means hopefully it gets patched. I am not doing a factory reset that is for sure
Should be fixed. annoying though.
I did a factory reset and setting it up while on the dock it all went smoothly. Seems the setup app can do it but the Google home app has issues. It's not as full featured as a nest hub max unfortunately.

Thanks for the good info. What benefits do you get from pairing the dock to the tablet exactly?

I was in the Google Home Preview programme. I left the programme and uninstalled Google Home. It then shows update in Google Play because you can't actually uninstall. Then without doing an update I tried again and it worked.
If I was you I would first just try the uninstall and then retry. If that doesn't work leave the preview programma and try again.

I was not in the beta program but I did uninstall and reinstall home anyway, but unfortunately it did not work. appreciate the suggestion.
here I thought it was a rooted tablet issue. got issue with the home app adding the charging dock. Benefit including dock acting like remote speaker when casting speak audio or playing song. You can group remote speakers, like 2 google home mini and dock, together to make them synchronize and play music. Like mini stereo system with extra bass (dock) for your kitchen.
Well...that was the thing I was trying add the dock to the home app =(
