Does the P30 have root available? - Huawei P30 Questions & Answers

I'm asking because I am planning to buy the P30 instead of the Pro. I also heard that the Pro won't have root available. Thanks in advance. :good: :good:

huawei no longer allows you to unlock the bootloader, save yourself the nightmare that is EMUI and get the xiaomi mi 9, which you can unlock the booloader on.

So huawei is as limited as an iphone, they didn't understand the meaning of android, they can have the best cameras but not even an unlockable bootloader is a huge no for me

Mine was just delivered today. All of Huawei products are much more difficult to root, but I expect that will be eventually. After they stopped providing bootloader unlock codes I was able to root two other devices, one of them fairly new, but i had to pay for the unlock code.

XDA and Honor

Does anyone have a list of XDA developers participating in the Honor/XDA partnership? I would love to know that the project has been taken up. It's a huge deal to see another OEM have development.
I don't think there is any yet.
There is a slow way to do this:
1. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/Honor , this link will display all Honor devices fourms
2. Check one by one in ROM section to find out...
But this will not include those without a dedicated forum, like Honor 4x.

Honor 8 is a decent phone, actually all HUAWEI 2015 and later phones are good ones. But the only issue now with HUAWEI is its own Kirin processer which has no open source/proper documentation. This closes doors to most developers and cut users from future upgrades if HUAWEI ceases to provde system update.

The new Honor + XDA partnership is exactly to address that limitation that other brands have - So developers can have full support to create ROMs

Mate 20X/Install Update/Unbrick - Official FunkyHuawei Thread for Mate 20X

This is the official FunkyHuawei thread for the Mate 20X.
What FunkyHuawei Supports Currently:
1. Firmware Installation / Unbricking
FunkyHuawei supports the Mate 20X for unbricking and firmware installation, but support has not yet been made public. This will be updated when it is.
2. Rebranding
Rebranding is currently not possible on the Mate 20X, even with root or unlocked bootloader. If this changes in the future, it will be updated.
Those who need to install updates and so on are welcome to contact FunkyHuawei support for help while the release of support for this model is still private.
Any other questions, feel free to ask them here.
Can you unlock the bootloader so it can be rooted?
Also, is there any difference in hardware between the 6/128 China version and the 6/128 Global version?
I see people mention google support, but how can it be impossible to install google stuff on a rooted china model?
Thanks
Hi, would these apps work on this version of the phone?
- Gboard, Google Pay(I usually use it for contactless payment), UK banking apps(HSBC, Barclays, etc)

I dont believe there is any hardware difference just maybe 1 let band difference. Chinese model will get updates quicker as the main base is in China so there update that model first . Google pay etc worked fine on my Honor note 10 which came out in August, call it the smaller brother which has no global ROM .
I personally prefer Chinese model , can delete most Chinese apps fine , yes some will remain and some Chinese characters in certain parts but still prefer Chinese model

Huawei have become strict in unlocking so maybe not but Honor who is apart of Huawei did offer users of honour note 10 codes .
@duraaraa,
I haven't been around here much since back when we goofed around with the Mi Mix (recall I sent you one I got so you could work on it since you didn't have one). Anyways, really glad to see what you have done with FunkyHuawei and all - impressive you turned your hobby in to a business so congrats.
I am curious about buying the global from your site. I am very likely to pull the trigger for one of these soon, haven't had a Chinese phone since my Mi Mix and Mate 9 (sold the Mi Mix ultimately for being to rough around the edges in terms of software and the mid range camera but kept the Mate 9 and was pretty happy with it for a while with no real issues once setup properly). Can you give us a summary of the finer points you see as advantages to getting a global from FunkyHuawei verse just getting a Chinese version with Play store already installed?
P.S. Anyone looking for a great unlocked Note 9 with bunch of accessories and whatnot send me PM.

I think you might have mistaken me for someone else about the Mi Mix, but I did work on the Mi Mix 2. I've never actually seen a Mi Mix 1 in person
The Chinese version uses various Chinese services instead of Google Services, and some of those can't be changed. For example, for location services. For the default voice assistant. And so on.
I've heard that OK Google doesn't work on the Chinese version, while you can use it to unlock the phone on the international version, and so on.
I had thought that Chinese version wouldn't pass Safetynet, but I'm not sure. I've also heard that the Chinese version doesn't allow you to change the default launcher. The dual app feature supports whatsapp and facebook on the global version, but wechat and chinese apps on the Chinese version, and so on.
If you don't live in China, getting the global version will work out better for most people.

Certain google things can be installed on the Chinese model. But google is baked into the non-Chinese model. So things like OK Google (to wake up the phone), google assistant as default, Google used as location provider, and so on, will be available only on the international model.

As far as I know you can't unlock the bootloader or root these at present.
If 'Enable OEM Unlock' becomes select-able in developer options it would be possible.

Have not heard anything for the Mate 20 X. The Pro has the screen supplied by LG and BOE, and most of the green-color bleeding issues are from LG. The screen of Mate 20 X is supplied by Samsung.
Hi @duraaraa. I think I'm ok sticking with Chinese version. But was wondering, in the event I'd like to change it to L29, if progress has been made on rebranding. Do you think it will be possible in the coming months. Thanks!

Bootloader unlock Huawei

Hello
All websites who offears code for unlocking bootloader are now stopped or not working services ( like funkyhuawei or ministry )

Hi, Since the begening of this post, is anybody success to unlock a Huawei (P30) bootloader on PIE ?
/Regards
The bigger question now is, what's next for Huawei given that Google wants to stop some parts with Huawei.
It's a shame really, the p30 pro looks great but with all the bootloader unlock issues and warranty becoming invalid and now this Google thing it's a no for me.
P30 would be a great phone for me, looking for a phone that can emulate gamecube games, has headphone jack, sd slot, ability to mirror with HDMI cable and of course ability to install custom ROMs. Why is this such a hard thing to find? Every phone I look into has something missing
Like it look funky Huawei sell codes again, but 124 USD for the code.. Are they crazy?

Huawei Mate 40 PRO Custom ROM

Hi everyone, I recently bought the Huawei Mate 40 PRO, it is beautiful and perfect but here is the black point of this phone is in the software part. Indeed the EMUI 11 overlay as well as the store of applications is not at the top, google services cannot be installed on this overlay, as well as the downgrade of the OS.
I would like to know if someone was able to unlock the phone's booloader, root it, or even install a custom rom (PixelExperience, LineageOS ...).
Thank you for your answers and happy holidays to all.

Hi there,
Huawei has strict no tampering policy that block everything from unlocking bootloader to rooting (including ROMs, kernels,...).
There are some website that advertise rooting your Huawei device for $xx.xx, but those are sketchy, do not fall in that trap (even though it's sometimes tempting).
Have a nice day

Honor WM2 to Huawei Watch GT2

Hi fellows,
Since the seperated from Huawei, Honor Watch Magic 2 didn't get any update. As I know Huawei Watch GT2s got updates around 10 times but Honor did not, and I am not happy for this situation.
As you know, these smartwatches are almost completely same and I was wondering, can I change my Honor smartwatch's rom to Huawei GT2's rom.
Is it possible?
Thanks.
Would be interesting to know. Any news about this?
It will be very nice if we can install the huawei watch gt 2 rom on honor magic watch 2 and benefit from the updates. All the features of the devices are the same anyway.
Same here, I have a HMW2 and I would like to get the updates. It's not fair to abandone the support for the devices. We should still get support for the device because when it got to the market Honor was still part of Huawei
It would be nice to do it, but for now the bootloader is locked i think.
I hope huawei will solve it.
Hi, have you guys any solution for this? HMW hadn't had any update for such a long time I don't believe it will get any in the future.
Up !
yeah...really regretting not adding those 10bucks extra to get the GT2. will not buy anything from Honor from now on.
no idea if it possible, but have you guys found out a way to move to GT2 firmware?
