[APP] Notch/Cut out battery bar - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Themes, Apps, and Mods

Testing is closed as I have enough data for this update. Thanks to everyone who tested
This is one of my little apps that add a battery bar around the notch of a phone. I have ported the feature to the S10 and S10+. Please try it out
The trial version link.
The pro version link

The graphic is off the right hand side of the screen. I can only see it when the width is increased all the way.
---------- Post added at 08:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 AM ----------
Switching resolution to 3040x1440 brought it out to where it should be. But the alignment is off. Is just a few pixels low. The top starts a few pixels below the cutout.
I'll find a phone to take a photo for you

How does it supposted to work on S10's? It creates the notch in place without the notch and afais I can't even make it flat, narrow bar/line because it's crashing the app.
Would be nice to have it around the camera holes

As mentioned in the OP, it's still not ready for the S10s.

Here's a screenshot of the options

But why

I would like to see some kind of option that allows for a charging LED as well.
A simple pulsing animation added to it while it is charging would help too.
If you could also add the ability to use the mod regardless of background (this could even be a premium feature), that would be awesome!
The "bubble" seems to fit well around the S10+, I can't tell if it needs adjusted just a tad more to the right or not though, I downloaded the app when some battery was already used so I will have to wait until I charge again to make sure that the 100% fits the notch well.

S10+ here i will be able to do testing for you

LOL, i left a review asking for S10+ compatibility on the 14th and you opened this thread the day after! Good work!
I'm trying it right now, it work, the only "serious bug" seems to be when you change the height, it increase only under the cut out, i think it should increase above and under it (Like when you change width, it change both sides).
Also, the bubble it's not really centered to the cut out, it look like a pixel or two under the exact position (i attach a really bad photo, i took it with the front camera of an iMac, sorry!)
+1 for custom wallpaper (also as a paid feature), i really love the wall-e and eve's one!

I'll test if you need a tester

Ok, now it's almost perfect, i think the last touch to reach the perfection would be the corners a little bit more rounded.
I attached a better quality picture.

Thank you so much, Will try to match the edges.

So I've been messing around with it a little and it's nice, but if I set the width or height to the lowest the app crashes.

When will the pro version include S10

Would you mind uploading a picture of your settings within the app. Your result looks perfect

Hi Dev, great job! One request is to make width/height movable with arrows too, just like with the positioning. The sliders are very sensitive and it takes quite a while to position the cutout perfectly.

Edit: the cutout looks good in the app, but when I apply the changes it gets cut off. Anyone knows why?

Display doesn't take up the FULL screen?

Question to all of you Infinity owners. I don't have any major issues, light bleed, etc. However, i do have a concern about the 1mm or so black bar around the edge of the display between the black bezel and the actual displayed image (even on the main homescreens). Does your Infinity have this issue? It's not very noticeable, however, I am curious as to if I should exchange mine for a new one or if they are designed this way to not utilize the full display.
It's stock, not rooted, and not unlocked *yet If someone has the issue, please post PICS. I am at work and can't exactly do that with mine at the moment.
But, basically, it looks as if there is a 1mm or .5mm black "frame" around the display between the black bezel and the actual display imaged. Kinda reminds me of a double picture frame.
Can someone post a pic of there homescreen in as highest resolution possible, whether you have the issue or not so I can make a determination.
Thanks in advance
Mines got this, infact my phone and nook color has it too. Never noticed it before, probably will never notice after I hit enter. I imagine perhaps this is too keep light from the screen from bouncing off the framed bezel and creating a blur effect, just me guessing here.

Okay, thanks. I really appreciate it. I didn't notice it on the Prime I had....
Anyone else? Can you post PICS if you don't or do please??
Trying to determine if I should return it for a new one or leave as is....as said in the OP, I don't have any other issue other than this...if it is truly an issue or if it is designed that way...

It seems everything has this, there's even this slight boarder on mon monitors I'm looking at now (all 5 of them!)
Thanks....kinda what I thought, but what is odd is that I didn't notice it on my Prime or my EVO 4G LTE. I guess it makes sense cause if you view it from different angles WO this border, it would cut off a mm or so of the screen (not a big deal), but it may be for some people.
Alright, thanks....Will keep mine then...

Try an alternate launcher such as Apex or Nova. You'll find that you can change the margin setting which allows you to use the entire screen using these launchers. I don't understand why the stock launcher wastes so much screen!

Photosphere just not looking good

Anyone have a trick to get photosphere images to actually look good?
I stood STILL and took one and it sucks... mind you i did a complete image up and down.
When i only did a 360 degree circle, it looks great!
It's when you start trying to add in the above and below that it all just starts overlapping.

Photosphere is 100% not meant for inside so if you are doing this and expecting good results, don't. That being said on 4.4.1 I noticed excellent photosphere photos. It is optimized for outside (when the distance to the objects around you is like 20 feet (Google's recommendation) and lighting is the same. If the lighting is uneven it is difficult to both get a good focus and blend images together. There is also a making sure yo go slowly, it seems dumb but really works. Also make sure you are rotating the phone not your body.
All in all I am really happy with my photosphere photos on the nexus 5. Much better than my sgs3. I would recommend upgrading to 4.4.1 if you haven't just for the camera improvements.

interesting!!
I'm on 4.4.2, I didn't know it was designed for outdoor use.
When you say move the phone, not your body... what do you mean by that? Don't I have to move my body in order to get the full 360 degree?

Rather than rotating your body which makes the phone rotate in a circle around you, rotate the phone

We can hide the notch.

Per Google they are adding the option.

well, technically, they arent adding it, the option is already available in Pie.

I really do hope they refine its implementation though. Moving icons down below is less than ideal.
I hope there's an option to half-hide it too. I could deal with half of that ridiculous notch.

so I went to best buy this evening to check it out.
unfortunately is was pretty crippled and I could not enable developer options (needed a password), so I couldnt get a full idea of how it looks hidden.
having said that, it really doesnt look as bad as it does in pictures online. however, it is still big.
It is not so visible on home screen if you use a dark wallpaper. Some apps hide it automagically, which keeps the status icons on the top, which is exactly how I wish it would be when hidden. I will probably make a photoshop overlay for wallpapers that will hide the notch with status up high, as I dont really use the live walls or anything like that, though I think devs will figure out a way to do that as well.
Viewing pics and video full screen it (the notch) will bother me very much.
Unfortunately the phone had no internet or cell signal, and of course connectivity settings were not available.
The screen to me is a HUGE improvement over the 2XL it looks fantastic. Even the non-XL was very impressive screen wise. Speakers do indeed sound louder, though I could only play the on-board ringtones etc, which still only preview out of one speaker.
Sadly hard to get a full hands on with it being crippled, but I do feel better about pre-ordering it than I did before I checked it out.

That's what I will be doing when I get mine and at least then I can pick and choose between notch/notchless (not crotchless that's something altogether different lol)
Been using Nacho Notch on my 3xl since I got it on Wednesday. Just turned it off to see if there was any difference in color on a white background. Didn't see a thing. Maybe it will the longer it is used, but my phone screen is pretty much on all night because I leave Netflix running when I fall asleep. I'll learn real quick if it does in fact have burn-in or image retention (OLED screen problem).

I usually watch a show when I go to bed. Half the time I fall asleep and wake up realizing I am a few episodes into a series.
Honestly doesn't bother me much (Well, at least it will until I can get root and install an xposed module that cuts charging off and starts charging again when the battery gets slow, or allow you to change the rate at which the phone charges). I used the module on my Pixel 2 XL and the battery was just as good as it was when I first got it 9 months later. Sadly, can't remember the module name, but it makes the chance of reducing your phones battery charge much smaller and livable with.

Pop-up camera moves dangerously

Hello,
When the pop-up camera is out, without forcing I can easily shift it by almost 1mm on each side
I'd like to know if it's the same on your device or if mine is too loose
Otherwise it works perfectly, and comes out straight, but it worries me to have a greater lag in the long term, I have only had the phone for a month and do not go out regularly the pop up
Thanks !
no shift on my device ..
Same
Mine is the same, but I don't think it's important
Yes, it moves a bit. But this is normal, as that little camera is fixed over a huge spring to protect it in case of a fall . The up-down motor acts against this spring.
You can see that on any YouTube video of F2 Pro disassembly.

Yes I saw Jerry's video, but I also saw videos where the tester was pulling or mistreating the camera and it didn't seem to move..
I don't think that it poses a particular concern on my device but the finish must be random and sometimes less "fixed"

Fortunately I hardly ever use the selfie, only a few video calls and unlocking when my finger is dirty (mechanical ?)
I can confirm there's no movement on mine. Had it for 4 months
Hi, my popup cam is shifting too.
My phone is 1 week old and there's no movement. But i have problem, it's accidentally pop up when my friend video call me. Is there any setting so it's only pop up if i receive the call?
You should be worry about that before buying this device mate. Why so; its a moving mechanic part. But beautiful, isn't it.? Full display without holes

Question Are these jagged punch-hole edges normal on all Pixel 6a units ?

The punch-hole's circumference is noticeably jagged. Please zoom in on the image attached. You'll see that the boundary of the punch-hole circle is not smooth. Apologies if the image does not convey my point. You may check you own device's punch-hole on full brightness, on a white background to get the idea.
I'd like to know if this is the case with every unit of Pixel 6a or if this is normal.
There's also some very tiny amount of green-tint/rainbow-ish effect around some part of the circumference of the punch-hole, although it is barely visible and is probably just my eyes' fault.
Thanks in advance.
Are you talking about the pixels themselves on the display?
Pixels are square. The punch hole is a circle, so it's going to look like that if you zoom in enough.
We don't need no stinking laser...
Lol it does look a bit crude but then again I never scrutinize my Samsung's stupid hole that closely.
Mine looks fine and so does yours. Yeah if blow up your macro shot to 3x can see maybe not laser perfect but the circle is also cutting over pixels, so that's to be expected. I don't notice any rainbowing on mine

Thanks for the reply. I was referring to the boundary/border/circumference of the black punch-hole. I suppose I was being too critical. From a normal distance it all seems fine.

Run Screen Test to determine the color integrity of the pixels around the hole. Colors should be uniform. I always test the display on a new phone and as it ages.
Thanks for the response. I might run a screen test, although the screen seems perfectly fine as it is from average working distances. I was probably being way too ocd about the whole issue.

An interesting thread. The flashing proximity sensor threads were common a while back. One or two flashing pixels on phone calls drove some Samsung users mad. Never even notice it before
Always a good idea to run Screen Test to help spot display issues especially on a new device or one that's under warranty.
I test my 3yo N10+ every month or two. It's bright so don't linger too long when doing it.
Any display pixel anomalies are easy to spot.
Any wrong color pixels at the hole would confirm you suspicions. With 20/10 vision and no magnification though the hole should seem smooth, at least on a N10+.
