Help needed to remove SMS limit for Android - Xiaomi Redmi 6 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Am facing an issue when doing mass SMS to people. Due to the SMS limit set by android, I am not able to mass sms people without having to continuously having to click on "send".
Thus, would like to seek advice from all on how do you managed to overdrive / bypass the limit.
The guide given here (https://www.xda-developers.com/change-sms-limit-android/#disqus_thread) does not work for my XIAOMI REDMI 6.
It keeps showing: java.lang.securityexception permission denial: writing to settings requires:android.permission.write_secure_settings.
Appreciate all advice!
Thanks and regard.

What about third party SMS apps?

3rd part app is the same. It will still prompt for approval to send mass messages.

[Q] NFC tag to auto send email

*** I tried posting this in the NFC section but wouldn't allow it as a Q & A***
Hi All!
This is one of my first posts so please bare with me.
Is there any application that will allow an email to be sent automatically from an NFC tag?
NFC Task Launcher sets it up with recipient, subject and body but you have to choose your email application (I have 3) then hit send yourself...
If anyone has any insight into this I'd be very grateful, thanks!

You can try tasker along with task launcher maybe, I've been trying to do stuff like this too, as well as auto-delete text messages.

[Q] A few questions about rooting my Edge

Hi Everyone,
I have owned the T-Mobile Edge for about a month now. So far I am loving the device, but coming from a Blackberry there are a few minor things that bug me. I have found workarounds by installing third party apps but would like to know if I root my device if it is possible to do without these workarounds. Please note these are all my personal preferences.
1. On whatsapp save media to my SD card instead of phone memory.
2. When sending a text message press enter to send instead of the send button.
3. I had one more issue with the phone dialer but tospace2006 has offered a suggestion about that already.
Thank you for any responses.

I know there's an app that requires root where you can change default save locations for things, I'll try to find that. And I believe there's a setting in the messaging app that allows you to press enter to send. At least there used to be in older Samsung phones.

Hi there
I don't have a fix but I was able to get rid of the malware by installing a app that deletes vendor apps. Do a scan with avg and it will tell you what apps are malware.
But for the issue with the what's app it's still not working for me.
Where did you buy from ?
I got mine from chinavasion and the are stalling on giving my money back.
Thanks
phicomm ex780L full tutorial
Two Phicomm ex780L arrived last week to a colleague, and after being out all weekend battling malware coming default (easy thing to remove), we have sought English, Spanish and Russian forums, but nobody had the whatsapp solution... but we have after being struggling with error adding contacts to google account and error whatsapp, we finally have found solutions.
The error of the contacts was somewhat easier to solve, also yesterday, the user "stas30" published a rom which already solved that error, but WhatsApp has given us more war .. but finally is solved!
We have written a tutorial in Spanish and English on our web forum, which you can see at:
androidparatorpes [dot] com/foro/dispositivos/42-buenos-y-potentes-moviles-por-menos-de-150#130
We hope you look easy steps to take, enjoy it as much or more as we look for a solution and at the end you may enjoy 100% of this device as we are doing now!
hello, excuse my English, I'm Italian.
I installed your good rom and followed your guide to getting whatsapp but unfortunately does not work. I created the "DO NOT OPEN" group and a friend of mine sent the message in the group but I have not read the message, then he sent me a message out of the group and whtasapp crashed! I tried several times but nothing. How can I do? it is possible that an application so used is not supported by the phone?

Hey there, I was just about to buy this phone from chinavasion, I've returned 2 phones to them so far and they do take a while to sort it out but they've refunded me each time thankfully! Can you explain to me about the malware issue as this is the first I've heard about it in all the reviews and that as in what kind of malware and are they system apps which need to be deleted after being rooted? I hope you dont mind me asking too but howcome you are getting a refund on the phone, did it break or something? Im just trying to weigh up my options before i invest in a relatively expensive bit of tech. I'd really appreciate a quick response as I need to get a phone off chinavasion soon (I have credit on their site because of the last refund),
Thank you

You can follow our tutorial to install a new rom without malware and to be able to run whatsapp without problems.
The tutorial is in the page number 1 of this topic.

Used to flash custom firmware with gapps from stas.
Ok, so recently I've scanned the phone with CM Security, and there were 2 malware threats found.
Used whatsapp workaround from above post. Works, but trying to call crashes the app. Trying to use autocorrect text also crashes the app. Important! Do not setup band to LTE only, otherwise you will not be able to call! 4G is only internet. You still need 3G to make calls!
another phone to avoid.
Excuse me, I would like to know whether this official firmware is multilanguage which includes Vietnamese or not. And would you showing me how to flash it? If By using stock recovery, then do I need to rename it to update.zip or something?!
Thank you
Android 5.0
Hi, Any news about android 5.0 or 6 for this phone? Can somebody transform a rom from another device and probe it in this device? Mi device has the same problems (whatsapp and malwares) but i Install the rom from Stas30 and it works nice. i solve the problem of whatsapp with the unread message. But it still turned off whenever it wanted. I had a oneplus one before that has almost the same characteristics and same processor and it happened too. I think that it is a problem of the processor that gets heated.
But please I think that a newer version of android will work very good with this phone and could solve a lot of bugs
try porting yourself,
No one can port another rom for this phone?
Fix whatsapp problem
FIX WHATSAPP PROBLEM
- What steps should I take?
The problem of forced close for whatsapp appears when we receive a new message, appearing to number of unread messages in the contact that sent us the message, if we are quick enough, once entered whatsapp and in that conversation, it clears the unread message icon and whatsapp works again, but when we receive another message, whatsapp fails again, so we have found this solution:
1. Create a group called "DO NOT OPEN" and invite a friend or family inside.
2. As group picture, we can put the sign "NO ENTRY"
3. We go back, where whatsapp show us active chats.
4. We asked our friend / family to send us a message to the group saying: Do not open or delete this group
5. Now, whatsapp we will give us a "force close".
6. We asked our friend / family to send us a private message to our whatsapp (but not in the group)
7. Open whatsapp, it will fail, but when you close the error no longer give us more "force close" and finally Notifications will work again, because we will always have an unread message (inside the group called "DO NOT OPEN"), and with these simple steps we will be able to use whatsapp without errors.

Thanks for the suggestion. Great idea!
It would also be nice to be able to monitor a remote phone (opening up the app to for parental monitoring for example).
This could be achieved by either allowing to :
- send a daily report by mail
- having a client app with data synced whenever a connection is avaialable
- sending data to a central server
...
anyway to export the data as .csv ?
Hello, thanks for app!
Any chance to remove "full network access" from permissions in future ?
Heya! Congrats on making the portal. Good stuff you got there.
Here's some suggestions for the intro texts:
Part 1 - Current
"Do you want to know how do you use your smartphone?
You have installed this app, so the answer will surely be affirmative.
With this app you can know with what apps you lose your time; time which you could lose living your real life..."
Part 1 - Suggested
"Would you like to know how you use your smartphone?
Well, as you've already installed this app, that'll be an affirmative!
By gathering statistics about your apps with Phone Usage Monitor, you'll know where your precious time is creeping off to. Time you might want to spend on living your real life..."
Part 1 - Motivation
The second "do" doesn't really have a function in the first sentence and I made it a bit softer to make a more friendly first impression. I mentioned the app's name to remind the user what's going to help them (branding, be proud of your creation). I stayed true to your intention, the reference to 'real life', but made that a bit softer as well by using "might" and not mentioning a negative word like "lose". We're all winners here!
Part 2 - Current
"To let us know this information we will run a service in the background to monitor the use you make of your smartphone.
Quiet!, it will not consume more than a little bit of the precious battery of your mobile..."
Part 2 - Suggested
"You're probably wondering how much battery this app will consume. Don't worry, just a tiny bit.
Think about the time you will save after gaining all this usage intel. You won't even need as much battery anymore."
Part 2 - Motivation
Shouting "Quiet!" doesn't come across very friendly. There's also never a comma after an exclamation mark. I wrote the text to match the battery icon better. I'm also pushing the major goal of the app forward.
Part 3 - Current
"We will give you more information if you let us see how do you use the apps in your device..."
Part 3 - Suggested
"Sorry to bother you but I will need some usage access in order to provide you with all these awesome statistics. Is that okay with you?"
Part 3 - Motivation
"let us see" gives the impression multiple people or a company will be watching along, which totally isn't the case. I wrote it a bit more personal, fun and friendly.
Part 4 - Current
"Do not worry!
The data we collect is NOT sent anywhere."
Part 4 - Suggested
"Do not worry!
The data I collect is NOT sent anywhere."
Part 4 - Motivation
As in part 3, It's better to speak from a first person point of view, "I" instead of "we". It's just the app and the user, "you and me", which is a more comforting thought.
Instead of "START APP" I'd use something more vivid like "Lets go!" or "Show me some numbers!" or "Start saving time!"
The UDPA looks good, people are used to not reading these disclaimers and accepting them anyway. It's also a nice reminder that even if there is a "we", it's literally stating no personal data will be collected on any server. Kudos! :highfive:
I personally don't like the last paragraph but ah well, one has to make a living, right?
Looking forward to those stats...

Random email notification since A13

I'm a Typeapp user for my mailaccounts. Since the latest upgrade to Android 13 it does not always show a notification. Randomly.
Typeapp suggested to alter the Battery Manager to allow the app running in the background. Did not help.
Then I tried a few other email apps for a week or so, but the same issue occured: not always a notification in time.
My idea is that this issue does not belong to the mailapp, but possibly Android 13 does something in the background that prevents a notification. Sometimes (and that's the irritating part!).
Somebody recognizes this?

This sounds somewhat familiar to me already since Android 11 where several people had the same issue regarding SMS/text messages arriving in time in Android (according to the logcat) but the notification message was often triggered few minutes or much later.
For a workaround for the SMS/text messages notification delay problem, effective at least for the default SMS/text/messaging app com.android.messaging, see the following GitLab issue (for klte) which even lead to one of the LineageOS developers reporting the bug to Google with the corresponding issue still being unresolved/open.
[Update 23.10.2022 for the sake of completeness]:
Other users reported the same problem for different phones No SMS while screen off and Notifications for incoming messages are delayed after device has been sleeping for a long time
It seems to me that this is a typical SMS-issue. I think my issue is a more general thing and I will try a hard reset and start with a clean Android 13 setup.
I'll give feedback afterwards... (when time and availability let me fix it)

The reception of the SMS was/is not the problem in this case since it appears immediately after sending in the log but the notification triggers with a large delay/late.
Therefore I can imagine, that this is a general notification bug which also appears in other apps.
Simply trying out the command takes a few seconds and observing the behavior also only takes very little time.
Personally I would invest this little time before doing a hard rest ... but perhaps I am the only one who enjoys doing other things in his spare time much more rather than hard resetting his phone and going through the following tedious installation and setup of all apps from scratch.
I know, it is no fun doing those things like install and setup your phone
But what if I really cannot find the com.android.messaging app amongst all system apps? Or does it have a different name since A13??

I wrote my sentence in a "teasing" way but with the winking smiley because you seemed very determined reinstalling everything from scratch without trying the suggested workaround.
And since different people have different interests, there was still a small chance that you prefer having a clean Android installation anyway from time to time and simply want to make sure that the problem arose from a "dirty" upgrade from A12 to A13.
Anyway, I am now confused by your following statement:
Mauvan said:

The way I understood you is, that your issue did (at the moment) only affect email apps.
1.
Did you also observe the notification delay with the stock SMS/text messaging app?
2.
If not, what is the reason why you now want to identify the stock SMS/text messaging app?
Mauvan said:

This I don't know.
3.
If 1. == yes, is the app name displayed in the app info options menu (the place of the other settings like permissions, storage & cache, etc.) when you scroll all the way to the bottom (as it is the case in A12)?
4.
If 3. == no, then you can possibly identify it using the output of
Code:
adb shell pm list packages
or paste the result here so we can have a guess.

Well, if it only occurs in the mail apps, then let's stick with those.
So, instead of whitelisting the SMS/text app, I suggest to try the battery optimization whitelisting procedure with those.
As a first step, please execute the current content of the battery optimization whitelist by calling
Code:
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle whitelist
and paste the result (list of apps) in this thread.
This should help us in better understanding whether the whitelisting step via ADB (which was either already done by you via the Android UI, or if not, which we'll do once we have the result from the above call) actually changes the whitelist content.

Since we are now ignoring the SMS/text ab, you can forget about the adb shell pm list packages command but need to execute the other (ADB) command mentioned above.
There are many tutorials on how to use ADB - I am only (randomly) posting the official instructions:
https://developer.android.com/studio/command-line/adb
So you mainly need 2 things:
PC: ADB executable - downloadable from https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Android: Settings > System > Developer Options > USB debugging
There's not even an option in Settings > System for USB debugging and Developer Options in my Pixel.
In another life I was a programmer but this goes beyond my capabilities (and patience to figure it out).
I give up.
Thanks for all your efforts, but it's all abacadabra for me. A hard reset is almost faster

I am sure you would manage that. But since my suggestions only have a small chance but no guarantee that they solve the problem, I understand that you are not eager trying it out.
