[BETA] [OTA] Upgrade to Android 9 Beta PIE through a VPN - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Guides, News, & Discussion

MI A2 LITE: ANDROID PIE 9 BETA
Hello friends, here is a way to get the Android Beta 9 for our Mi A2 Lite. I succeeded the first attempt.
First of all, remove the SIM card and leave it only in the WI-FI.
STEP 1: Go to Settings -> Apps and Notifications -> See All apps -> "Show System"
STEP 2: Clear the data and cache in the apps below:
*
- GOOGLE SERVICES FRAMEWORK
- GOOGLE
- GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES
- FUSED LOCATION
- LOCATION SERVICES
- GOOGLE BACKUP TRANSPORT
STEP 3: Download a VPN (I've used EXPRESSVPN). (feel free to use one of your choice)
STEP 4: Go to the VPN and select the location INDONESIA or POLAND
STEP 5: Go back to Settings and look for Update!

Thanks a lot work for my at second attempt, I don't have... GOOGLE SERVICES Structure and COMBINED LOCATION

[Guide][6.0.1/7.0] 10 Hours of Screen On Time + Extreme Privacy

**Root access required**
This guide will enhance your privacy and take your battery life to the next level.
We will be replacing Google Cloud Messaging and Play Services with microG which is an open-source alternative. It strips identifying data and only sends basic info such as account name to Google while anonymizing the rest. Privacy-caring users can reduce or monitor data that is sent to Google and users can expect some battery life improvements. Find more about it here.
1. Uninstall all Google apps from system except GooglePackageInstaller, GoogleExtServices & GoogleExtShare. Reboot. Make sure these apps have been removed:
Code:
Phonesky/Play Store
Google Services Framework
Gsmcore/Play Services
Velvet, Chrome, Youtube, Sync Adaptors, Backup Transport
All other pre-installed/downloaded Google Apps
2. Uninstall all Google Apps installed as user apps in Settings/Applications. At this point you should not have any Google applications installed.
3. Download microG Services Core & GsfProxy. Install them as user apps.
4. Now we need a Play Store. Install Fake Store from here to fulfill this requirement and use Yalp Store [ open-source Play Store ] for downloading applications.
5. You also need Signature Spoofing. Use either method below and reboot:
(a) If you have Xposed, use this module.
(b) If you are on Nougat and have a deodexed rom then use this guide to enable signature spoofing.
6. Go to Settings and grant all permissions to microG. Open microG and enable Google device registration & Cloud Messaging respectively. Use Self-Check to make sure everything looks good.
7. For location services to work with high accuracy, download an open-source location backend e.g Mozilla and enable it in microG Settings. Reboot.
8. Add a Google account through device settings.
9. Done! You can now install any applications [Google/Non-Google]
FAQs
Q. Why is it not working?
A. Are you sure you rebooted? Did you remove GAPPS? OK. Now, ask!

Le 2 X620 Google Integration ROM - by mwarner

I have spent a few days putting together a Custom ROM for my LeEco Le 2 Pro X620, with the idea to provide a more Stock Android experience.
Features:
- Updated the integrated Google Services
- Replaced the EUI Launcher with the Google Now launcher
- Added in a set of base Google Applications (Gmail, Maps, YouTube, Photos, Music, Calendar etc)
- Added Multi-language support
- Removed unwanted Chinese apps
NOTE: Both the initial flash and first boot can take a long time - please be patient!
The ROM is not rooted - if you wish to root the ROM, download and flash SuperSU from Chainfire. Open the SuperSU app before initialising any application that requires root access granted.
Version 2.2b
- Replaced the boot animation with that from the Google Pixel
- Included all the additional 20S firmware files so flashing from 18S or below will be successful
- Update the initial boot screen to remove the 'orange state' warning
- Include TWRP 3.0.2-0
Le2_X620_GoogleIntegration_V2-2b_020S.zip
Version 2.1
- Added Multi-language support
- Removed additional unwanted LeEco apps
Le2_X620_GoogleIntegration_V2-1_020S.zip
Version 2.0
- Based around Stock 020S
Le2_X620_GoogleIntegration_V2_020S.zip
Version 1.0
- Based around Stock 018S
Le2_X620_GoogleIntegration_V1_018S.zip
Notifications
LeEco ROMs are very aggressive in closing down applications in the background, which can lead to missed notifications. I have written up a guide to setting up this (and all other custom ROMs) to ensure that notifications are always received for your apps
Fixing notification issues on LeEco devices
Tutorial
I have also written up a tutorial which explains how I created this ROM and hence how you too could create something similar yourself!

How to install Google Play Store and services to Xiaomi Mi 5X with MIUI 9

This is the only way i managed to install Google Play Store and services without beeing stuck on "Checking info" message. This worked for me so i decided to upload a youtube video so that i can share it and help other users of the Mi 5X and similar Xiaomi devices.
I am on latest official China developer ROM with MIUI 9 and with this method, all Google services worked perfectly without beeing stuck on "Checking info" message.
This is a step by step video for beginners about how it can be done in less than 10 minutes

netflix seems not to be working, it says it isn't compatible with the device and links an older apk that does work, but it is an olld version missing some features. If anyone could figure out whats going on here, i think it won't work because the google services are sideloaded, not system apps

I think there is like some kind of new special DRM licence missing on MIUI (8 or 9 is the same I think). Same think for another french TV App (MyCanal) I couldn't make it work until I flashed Mi A1 Android One Rom. Now it works without problem (except I couldn't find Netflix on the play store and had to get last apk from the web).

i dont think so ...as it's still in developement stage they might not have implemented languages other than English (US)
what should i change in redmi3s build prompt , product model =Pixel 2XL or product devices =Pixel 2 XL
This worked but ok google detection no longer works and the option in settings is grayed out and says "not supported in current language". I'm on US English.

By "Clear Google Apps data", do you mean clearing data and cache for the Google app? I did just that and no lens button for me.
it's not working
Didn't get what you mean with clearing Google apps data, what apps? Do you mean only the "Google" app? Because I tried and it didn't worked for me.

Mmh, weird. Don't know what build your ROM is based but I think Google fixed the trick with the latest build of January.
It works. You just need to wait until a kind of "server switch" automatically enables your google lens. But, at exactly the same time you'll loose the "anytime OK Google hotword detection" feature.
So, it's a difficult choice for me
Any workaround to fix this?

Did it worked immediately after rebooting or did you had to wait some time until Google "pulled the switch"?
I did everything as mentioned and flashed the zip, but only habe lens in Google Photos now. Maybe i need to set my language to English? (It's German now, but I'll read that lens is also available in Germany)
Peace ✌

I had to wait a few moments after reboot. Recently flashed a new ROM and had to do it again. Took a bit longer second time round (like half an hour).
I think it will only work for English language currently (US, UK, Australia, Canada etc.).

I'm not sure if it's a system level language change or just per app. I would try the app to begin with just to be safe.

Were you able to add credit cards?
I think you can only add Master Card and get it to work in Google pay with chinese version rom.
Not 100% sure, but you can try with Master card.
(Visa doesn't work from my pass experience)
i added VISA (on global ROM) with e-banking app
I use the beta weekly builds from xiaomi.eu (based on the chinese beta) and Google Pay works well with Magisk installed, I tried both MasterCard and Visa without any problem
