bought a mi mix 3 - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Questions & Answers

To answer a few questions. I have in my possession a mi mix 3. It takes 720 hours to unlock the bootloader. So in 30 days from today I should be able to unlock the bootloader.
If anyone has questions please ask. At the moment I am on TMobile and volte does not work... Maybe when we get global firmware it will work. I will try to put a Verizon Sim in later today and see if it works.

After binding the device, the login unlock tool does take 72 hours to wait

Did you try the new unlock program, I helped someone unlock mi mix 1, he had been on vendor ROM for 18 months and had no updates, he SS and the device was locked. He used the unlock program and instantly was unlocked. How do they decide which device can instantly unlock.

I had a mi mix 1 and was instantly able to unlock, got a mi mix 2 and it was a 3 day wait so 72 hours. Mi mix 3 is a 720 hour wait, so 30 days. The unlock application knows what phone you have and determines the amount of time to unlock.

You're right it did. I go through a lot of phones. Can't remember everything.

1. does the phone have an LED notification light?
2. Even though the phone is has MIUI were you able to install Google Play and all other Google apps, if so, how did you do that?

Mine comes tomorrow. Thanks for the update. Hope that changes to 72 hours... I thought I read somewhere that a lot of people thought it was 720 hours but then it changes to 72

Nevermind.

Yo buddy, can you download an app called 'drm info' from the Google play store and send a screen shot here?
I want to know the widevine security level.
Until now, no xiaomi phone has security L1, only L3, meaning the device can't play HD content on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Google Movies etc..
Those are all encrypted to protect from piracy or whatever. I would appreciate your help

Maybe the L1 will come with the global rom like on the mi8.

If there's one thing I can say about this phone, it's easily that it has the best cell reception of any recent device bar none. Seriously, I'm a good 10+dBm stronger than my prior devices: Pixel XL, Axon 7, and more..

For sure. The only thing really bugging me right now is Huawei's lockscreen. I don't have lock screen controls for any of my music apps and actionable notifications are super finicky. I'd be super happy with it if those things were addressed.

Could you let me know the full build number of the firmware on the phone?
From settings -> about phone
For example, maybe it's MHA-L29CXXXBXXX
I was on vacation in America a week ago with a T-Mobile SIM, with the Mate 9 branded to Asia C636 and Europe C432, but neither did VoLTE, so I guess it's a unique feature of the American firmware.
If you're interested in helping to bring the American model's firmware to other people and helping out the community, please get in touch with me by PM, as there are many tests I want to run with your model.

I don't really think they did. They did, however, promise to look into it at some unspecified time while making clear it's not a top priority: Twitter thread. It's probably even less of a priority for them now.
I'm not worried about ARCore and face unlock :cyclops:
lol, ARCore on this phone won't have any devs. You know why?
Because the majority of devs ditched this phone because of no official bootloader unlock.
Ironic, isn't it.

Phone has been out for 10 months, receives regular updates on time so who cares about unlocked bootloader..? And if it's so important to you why did you even buy it without making sure it can be unlocked at first. Typical XDA whine...

Firstly, How long do you thing you'll recieve regular updates? HMD almost have started abandoning their first flagship.
Secondly, when the phone was released, who knew that hmd will not be providing support for unlocking bootloader. Everyone bought it with a hope and love for Nokia brand
But the face unlock is already in the security settings. Just active the trust factor for Google Smart Lock and you've got the last option on Smart Lock list which is face unlock.

The time limit is to stop resellers taking the Chinese variant and putting global ROM then selling it as the global variant without the proper bands. Not sure why it's so long though a bit of a joke.

Standard MI ROM is fine for me.
What you mean Xiaomi is blocking rom changing - people here seem to change ROM all the time? Well, it's not an issue for me as long as the ROM is global already.
Yes , xiaomi will begin to block rom changing , if you are global , you stay global , if you have china , you stay china...

The move from china to global is a non-issue as long as you check the rollback index of your current build.

Question Way to unlock Poco X3 without mi account

Hi,
I never created a mi account for my phone and the mi account app doesn´t work on my Poco X3 Pro (could probably get it to work with a factory reset), but I also see that Xiaomi are generally not letting people unblock the bootloader, presenting them with various errors, delays, rejections and total lack of customer support in this regard.
I found that Mediatek devices could be unlocked with a MTK bootloader tool, but the Poco X3 Pro has a Snapdragon chipset.
Anybody aware of a way to do this without a mi account?
Best regards,
Frederik

Now I got the mi account to work on my phone by uninstalling and re-installing a lot of mi software with ADB.
But now I can´t connect to fastboot. I have installed the drivers coming with the Mi Unlock and they appear as "Poco X3 Pro" in device manager after reboot of the phone, if I reconnect the phone and select file transfer, then it appears as "ADB Interface" in device manager.
I can´t get it to apper as Android Bootloader, which I understand is requiered?

There is no verification sms for Mi Unlock since you are supposed to have an account.
Reset your phone and create an account.

Actually, the first time you run Mi Unlock on the computer, there is SMS verification or QR code. You can read about other people who have issues with the SMS verification.

You are confusing sign up and sign in.
"The process is simplified and permission is granted automatically. You don't have to fill in any application form or wait for the SMS anymore"

Ok, whatever. Now I got to the waiting part and I´m trying to get through to their hotline to get the waiting time cancelled.
The US helpdesk can´t help.
So now I´m trying China and global helpdesk.
I got these numbers of which the first refers to the second for helpdesk.
+86-10-60606666 .
+86 400-100-5678

The waiting time is 168 hours in general, sometimes more sometimes less.
keep us informed if you manage to cancel the waiting time, it will be a scoop.

What's the point of bugging the hotline staff? They will only reply according to their work protocol anyway. Just wait and be happy that you can unlock the bootloader at all.
Pls delete

I´m not interacting with hotline staff, I´m interacting with an organization and I don´t understand why this organization is bugging me.

What's wrong if they set the waiting time? Some companies does not even let you unlock bootloader. I felt bugged if they don't let me unlock bootloader or similar cases, so can you help me complain to them? eg. Huawei & Apple
They can always say for security and confidential reasons.
They deal with unlock request on their server. Worst case, your waiting time can be 720~1440 hours.
It was already shorten
reduce the unlock time from 720 hours to less
Well, I had other unlocking hours 553 almost every day I ran the unlock. Today before doing this I went into the mi cloud and I clicked on find device device while I opened the unlock tool and waited to go into fastboot running so see other...

It´s absolutely wrong that we don´t own what we buy, no matter who puts the limitations. I can understand it in terms of warranty, that they can´t provide warranty if I knowingly decide to use the phone against the terms of the warranty, great, that´s how it has to be. We have to be able to own what we buy and prevent others from using our stuff.

Xiaomi actually still has warranty coverage even if you unlock bootloader. Exclusion is that after bootloader unlocked, if you do something to the phone whether hardware or software, and the phone hard bricked.
We are actually using Xiaomi's server to unlock bootloader.
According to your logic, while the server belongs to Xiaomi (they paid for the server and designers), Xiaomi has to be able to own what they bought (the server) and prevent (or control) others from using our stuff.
Do you own Xiaomi's unlock bootloader server ?
