SMS

Hoping someone has a solution to my scenario.
Right now, I have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. I use my Verizon number for all calls and SMS. I'm test driving my Nexus 5 on GoPhone (AT&T) until my Verizon plan is up (at which point, I'll either stick with GoPhone if I like it, or find something else).
Is there a way for me right now to get my Verizon number's SMS to show up on my Nexus 5? Is there any app, etc.? I don't want to fart around with porting my Verizon number to Google Voice right now - I will do that when my contract is up, and that will be my solution. But I need a solution for until that point.
If there is no way to do this, that's okay. Thanks for reading. (For calls, I'm just going to forward my Verizon number to my AT&T number through Verizon's webpage).

Thank you for the suggestion. When I downloaded it on my Nexus 5, it told me "Integrated messages is only available for Verizon customers," so I think it's not gonna work. I think I'm just SOL until I port my Verizon number to Google Voice.

I have seen those. I'll probably set one of those up. I was really hoping for an app that would allow me to receive SMS on my Verizon phone, and send as my Verizon number from my Nexus 5. Guess we're not there yet, without the Google Voice port. Again, thanks for your responses!

Google voice is great. Just do it.
Only issue is you can't currently receive MMS through it.
I use GV + straight talk prepaid
It's cool too because you will be able to keep your old number and receive all your calls to it too

[Q] Using a SCh-1535 Verizon S3 on AT&T

Hi all, I am using a Verizon samsung galaxy s3 as stated in my title and the question I have is about using this cell phone on AT&T service. I have already added the AT&T apn and changed my network settings to GSM but when I recieve phone calls I no longer have a voicemail box. I downloaded the AT&T voicemail app and it says my number/acccount is invalid. I also reset my voicemailbox pin and tried again and still recieved the same message. I want to know if it is possible for me to get voicemail or if i should just give up on it?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Verizon's HD Calling Feature for M9 on my M8: what happens

I switch between an M8 and M9 on my HD Calling-enabled Verizon line.
Noticed that when the M8 had the SIM, it did not any longer give voicemail notification
sound or icon in upper left corner. After a kind Verizon tech went thru every conceivable
scenario, he discovered that if the M8 is used on an HD Calling enabled number, voicemail
notifications won't happen. Switch off the HD feature, and like magic, voicemail notifications will again appear.
Just wanted to share this in case there are any of you that run into the same thing. I hope the Android M
software will cure this........

That's because when you upgrade to advanced calling it also changes your voicemail to Verizon visual mail basic. Did you install that app on your m8 and see if your voicemail arrive?

It's not. When the op activated it on his m9 OT activated more than just volte/HD calling. It tacks in basic visual voicemail as well. No more calling to get voicemail.
Going back to the m8 you would likely need to install their vvm app to get voicemail. On the same note when you activate advanced calling on the m9 it also clears any voicemail call forwarding that a google voice voicemail user would have setup.

Thanks for reply. Did a clean install of M8 stock 5.0.1, activated VVM free edition, then called from another phone and left voicemail.
Phone does not give alert or place a voicemail waiting icon in top left of phone. I don't want to cancel HD Calling
on my lines, but I would like to continue to use the M8 and get notifications. Any thoughts?

If that's cancelled, how to get M8 voicemail notifications?
Wanting to alternate M9 and M8 on my lines, so don't want to
cancel HD Calling unless I have to.

Samsung visual voicemail for unlocked?

Am I wrong for believing there is a Samsung version of visual voicemail that can be used on the unlocked phones?
I would like to give it a spin but cannot find it.
use T-Moible voicemail if you're using on T-Mobile Network, or use YouMail app or Google Voice if you have one.

That was one of the problems I ran into using an unlocked phone on Verizon network a couple of years ago. Also, I was not able to get notifications for text, etc. After that, I swore off unlocked phones. But things may have changed since then, or you may find a work around. Good luck.

I just uninstalled TVV and will look to give YouMail a try.
However my question still remains, am I wrong to assume that there is a Samsung Visual Voicemail app that can be used. I swear I read something about how people hated the Tmobile version because they make you pay to transcribe the voicemail to text but the Samsung version did not.
Yes it has the Samsung one installed. It comes up as voicemail in the finder...it's not baked in to the dialer though which is super annoying.
If you want the at&t visual voicemail or other branded version the apk is out there and I can confirm does work on our phone the same issue is still present though regarding the missing icon from the dialer...
Xda hates my phone at the moment so I can't upload a picture but the image for the Samsung one looks just like the voicemail notification symbol.

It's available from the galaxy app store according to the app info. I definitely didn't download it and it wasn't on my last device.
was there ever a solution to this? on s20 G9880 and G9810 no visual voicemail apk, using on t-mo and att respectively

Visual Voicemail for unlocked U1

I've always downloaded Samsung Visual voicemal from APK mirror for all unlocked samsung devices, even my note 10. I installed it fine on the note 20 but when i try to open it it says not supported. Any idea for a visual VM program? Voicemail is practically useless without VVM.
I can't find the Verizon VVM that is compatible either. I'm looking for the APK if anyone figures it out.
Transferred Tmo VVM app via Smart Switch from previous S10+. Working fine on unlocked N20+
I downloaded version 12.1.00.35 from the Galaxy store on my US unlocked Ultra and it works just fine. I am AT&T for cell service , just moved sim from note 9 to this phone.

not sure if this is applicable for your situation but, i have a note 20 ultra unlocked (US Version) using google fi.
I downloaded the google phone app from APKMirror then installed (one of the newer apk's), set as default, then i installed an "android go" version of the phone app from APKMIrror as well, and now i have visual voicemail, it stuck after a reboot and is working for visual voicemail (transcript appears and seems accurate). It is a bit funky as it hangs when i try to play voicemails over the earpiece but it seems like playing it via speaker phone is fine. There is also a toast notification that pops up every time i open the phone app that says the device is not compatible and phone calls may not work properly, but it seems fine. YMMV!

Is volte working on yours?
Have you tried downloading carrier service from the play store? I have an unlock version with Verizon sim and visual voice-mail works. Thats the only thing I can think of that I added

Thanks. AT&T is going to turn off 3G in 2/21, and so I am worried about buying a phone without volte support -- on their network.

How did you get it to work?
I didn't do anything, I mean, I put my sim card in the phone, turned it on, logged in with my google account, did the software update they pushed, rebooted. etc..... I did dial into my voice mail and checked everything and it was working, then I opened visual voice mail and it worked, I didn't do anything to make it work.
