Hi guys,
Is there a tweak for a clock on the lockscreen that is always on. Just like Samsung and OnePlus have.
I know it is better for Oled screens, but Max has got a huge battery, so it will last the day.

This is not true LCDs do not suffer from burn-in. I have a number of LCD phones from Nokia mostly some from Motorola which have an always-on display and never suffered burn-in.
XIAOMIS response was it would be useless as it would increase battery drain. I did say to them it should be an option anyway.

the files, even if they cost, if they are downloaded. Try it, if it doesn't let you copy the files with an app, copy it from the recovery. I hope it helps you

Increase battery life/performance by lowering screen resolution to 1080p

Here is a little tutorial I have put together for the upcoming Motorola Moto X Style (Pure Edition). The new Moto X comes with a Q-HD display. Though a higher resolution might be nice it does use more battery as well. With this simple guide you can force the GPU to render the OS and everything in it, in 1080p instead of Q-HD. The display will still be Q-HD but everything on the phone, including the full Android OS, will be displayed in 1080p. This will increase S.O.T and battery life noticeably.
Prerequisites:
1) A rooted device running stock/stock based ROM.

My point exactly...If you go the the Google developer stats website you can see on 4.7% of apps on Google Play take advantage of QHD. Also almost 89% of youtube videos are max 1080p. Knowing this I put together this guide. So at least Q-HD won't drain my battery.
Interesting to see if it makes a diference. So, could this be made also to work on a 1080P display and lower it to 720p you know to save even more battery???

Yes...I will add a guide on how to revert...Acutlly reverting requires less steps that lowering the resolution.

If this phone comes out as scheduled or somewhere near that and I buy one, I'm going to avoid any tweaks or hacks for a while but I appreciate your info. Thanks for posting it.

Currently I have the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900A) AT&T variant, but I'm running an International ROM. I would definitely like to try it and be a ginnie pig. But more than likely I would do it at the end of this week since I have a 4-day weekend coming up, giving me plenty of time in case things go bananas and have to revert back to stock. But please do let me know what the steps are for my current phone.
Would this really make a huge impact on the battery life?
I'm curious to know, does the screen actually not turn on each pixel with these options? From what I understand, with LCD screens it's either all or nothing.
If I'm correct about the all or nothing this trick would lower the batter consumption by a bit, but not much. The only thing it would do is lower the tax on the CPU.
From my understanding it will have to render less pixels therefore less power consumption as the GPU will not have to work as hard
If LCD's on cell phones work the same as on computer screens, then this will not have any affect but to change how things look on the screen. The same number of pixels will still be activated. Only some will do double duty. If you can, go ahead and lower the resolution on your computer screen and things will look larger but all the pixels are still being used. I cannot imagine this will have much, if any effect on battery life. Maybe I'm wrong??

People did this on the LG G3 and their battery life had a massive jump in SOT. Not sure how it works but it is worth trying for sure. Of anything it will make the phone faster because it isn't pushing so many pixels. Only time will tell use the phone normal for a week to let the battery set in and get a good idea. Then drop it and compare. If it is the same you have yoru answer, if it does what the G3 did and almost doubles the SOT then we will have a party.

The G3 never saw massive battery life jumps. All lowering the resolution did was boost the performance. There was a slight increase in battery life due to lower strain on the CPU/GPU, but that was it. The only way this style of mod would help battery life would be on an OLED screen and it would have to actually turn off some pixels instead of duplicating them.
If you want better battery life from the screen resolution you would have to turn your device into a frankenphone by taking a lower resolution screen from something else, which is essentially impossible at this time.

even so, not pushing that many pixels on the CPU/GPU may make a pretty noticeable difference. For those who do not mind a fuzzier screen it could be a good solution. I still think it would be worth testing but we will have to come across that bridge when the phones are here. Who knows, maybe it wont be bad to begin with
Would not like 1080p stretched out over a Qhd screen. Too fuzzy for my liking. Always stick to native resolution on amoled/lcd.

OxygenOS 9.0.2, and latest blu_spark kernel with blu_schedutil governor, i can go around 9h SOT, but in normal daily usage i get around 5h30 with 36h standby, you gotta watch what's running on your phone

One thing i saw is you start to get good battery life when you don't think about it anymore Just stock, with maybe a custom kernel (blu_spark and Franco are amazing), and you get very good results !
By the way, regarding your OP, on LG G3, is always used it at 1080p instead of 1440p. It was smoother (the S801 had trouble at this time), but battery was exactly the same ! You shouldn't worry about it, Snapdragon 625 devices drive 1080p without problems.

I agree. When you think about it too much I think you set high expectations and when they are not met, you feel as though your phone has terrible battery life. I used to think 3.5-4 hrs SOT was really bad for a modern phone but that very comfortably gets me through my normal day. So I'm happy with that kind of performance since I charge up once every 18-30 hours.

Exactly. And tweaking too much sometimes have a negative effect.
And when i forget about it, i find that the battery life is almost always better after 3-4 days on "normal use", and by that i mean not using the phone with battery in mind. Ex : Browsing Facebook for 5mn and killing the app vs using it for 10 or 15mn, answering two emails, and locking the phone ... At the end of the day, the second scenario corresponds to an average of 1h more SOT, but battery is only 3/4% less, so in fact, stats are way better ... Killing apps, underclocking, preventing background activity ... All of this gives more battery in very specific situations, but in normal usage, it kills it (taks take longer, apps refresh with 10x more work when you open them, some like Facebook freak out when restricted by things like Greenify ...).
In short : Let the device do it's thing, maybe just cut things you'll never use or don't want (Bloat, services, ect), maybe switch kernels without tweaking too much, then forget about it.

Battery needs optimization

After 7 days of with the phone in my pocket, I think battery needs some serious optimization. Compared to my previous device Redmi note 6 pro on 4000mah had a lot better battery than Mi note 10 at 5260mah. Battery is draining like too fast. I'm on xiaomi eu btw.
I sincerely hope Xiaomi fixes this battery issue with a firmware update. A 5000+mah battery with a mid tier chipset should give phenomenal life.
I think we should get together and make some noise to get Xiaomi to address this. Tech reviewers are blaming the UI
I must agree on this. The battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Thought it would be amazing, but it's only marginally better than my old Nokia 7 Plus.. And the battery in that one is 3800mah.

Yeah after rooting i did some digging. There is some kernel optimisation needed.
Example: Min freq is not set to 300mhz but to 5xx mhz. Also there is some kind of cpu boost enbled (i wasnt yet able to disable it) which is way too agressive, this also causes the min freq to get stuck at 13xx mhz. This cna only be solved by rebooting

Actually I am impressed by how long the battery lasts on my Mi note 10
Using it basically no stop, with screen on 90% if the timer and using GPS, chats and emails and more, in the evening I still have not less than 40%

Interesting discovery. While snooping around I found these posts talking about the Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6 that also idle at 576mhz. Both use the Snapdragon 845 though

Not sure if i 100% understand what you mean. But i tried to change parameters with FK and the values do not really get saved.

Yeah exactly. But thats not that big problem, if you watch your CPU Stats you can see your idle freq get stuck at 13xx for both clusters. Thats quite high for idling. Also did look into the released kernel source, but couldnt find the problem
Not the biggest fan of things like LKT, but in this case it works. Sets the cpu to 300mhz and gets rid of the 12xxmhz boost! if any one want to try it aswell

Google map for about 2.5 hours, screen during the day basically always on cause I use whatsapp for work. I also spent 1 hour playing a game. In the evening I had 41% battery.
This phone have a monster battery! Amazing!

I would like to feel the same optimism that you feel, but until now, I cannot. I got my phone 2 days ago, 2 full charges, one gave me 8h of SOT and the other 7h of SOT. There is something wrong here. I had more battery life with the Pocophone I had than with Mi note 10. Let's see if in a future update it gets better

I mean yes it has good battery life and i can get easily 2 days. But its a 5xxx mah battery. It can last longer. Its like upgraing from 1liter to 2liters but only using 1.5 Liters.

Thinking about it, 4000mah sounds right. The Oppo Reno2 has a 4000mah battery, uses the same 730G chipset and has about the same screen size.
The GSMarena endurance test gave the Oppo Reno2 a 102hr endurance rating.
The Mi Note 10 scored 95hrs endurance rating.

yes. any xiaomi device It has that. The only option is the force setting set min. 300mhz on APK like ex Kernel menager. And turning off boost Touch
Check mi room or miuimix rom based on China dev. I use mi Rom on cc9 and k20 pro. The battery is much better than xiaomi.eu

Im having performance issues along with battery drainage. Snapdragon 8gen1
All those social media apps aren't helping... I never allow any on my devices for a number of reasons including security.

Social media apps suck battery on any phone they are on... especially if using 5G rather than 4G as Jostian pointed out.
Also display brightness really matters too. 30-40% is best, use manual brightness control.

Dude im using 4g and lighy use i had the s21 ultra before and i get aroung 5 h with heavy use and 6 to 7h with light use . This is not good at all . I had the 13 pro max for days and i had 10h sot

The really funny part is my N10+ gets better SOT than both of those. I use the hell out of 4G.
You are what you load nonetheless still pertains to your current dilemma. The S22U's hardware is more optimized for gaming it seems. Ironically Samsung deliberately throttle this at first.
High refresh rates are no big deal as far as I'm concerned but doubt that 60hz would even yield a 10% power savings, but you don't know until you try. Using the highest resolution also will eat another couple percent.
Lol, I keep Google play Services disabled most times for an extra 2%@SOT.

Hello Blackhawk. I wonder if it makes a lot of difference between 30-40% manually and auto brightness. Did you compare that? Is it the sensor that makes the difference in battery usage when using auto brightness?

Auto brightness doesn't know how bright you need it to be. Many times it's too bright and that isn't beneficial for your retinas or battery life.

Themes / Apps / Mods Cool dowm your Tensor

The Tensor G2 processor on the pixel 7 series has poor energy efficiency, which will cause the phone to heat up easily.

Great, I had to test this. I have the Battery Guru, and I have set the temperature to 30 but it always prompts, even when I am using it for minimal work. Can you share some performance benchmarks, either with Battery Guru or Better Battery Stats? and the source on github?

I have not really noticed that. in fact my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra gets much warmer than the p7p.
Curious what the actual performance gain and heat reduction will be (in numbers).

Data to prove that the efficiency of G2 is poor? Sure, sir.
This shows Tensor G1, and Tensor G2 introduced an additional X1 core (2x X1 cores) and didn't improve the efficiency much apart from being slightly more efficient since it's based on 4nm.
So, long story short, G2 is somewhere between Exynos 2100 and 888 when it comes to efficiency and neither of these two mentioned is really efficient.
Pixel 4's SD855 is more efficient than both Pixel 6 and 7. lol
There is plenty of power measurement data and how the SOC behaves under load, feel free to research.

mind posting the correction of values? at what temp it starts to throttle? is something else tweaked as well? im too lazy to look at the code myself lol
Whose using this? What are you seeing in terms of battery life gain and is the phone stuttering and stalling during usage?

Installed it several days ago. Noticed that charging fell to a crawl, to the point I thought my charger or cable was bad. Uninstalled immediately.

No lag, stuttering or freezing. No issues with charging. Temperature stays lower than normally, for example while using chrome or other browser temperature used to spike up to 60-65° within few minutes but now it's down to 50-55°. I didn't notice any change in battery life.

I'm also curious to know what performance gains or battery efficiencies Pixel phones have with their 'clean' software.
5 second delay in the camera app when changing from photo to video or changing from back camera to front...

@fenibook , can you add any conditions to the module so it's inactive when the phone is charging either reorh cable or wirelessly?
For me camera works fine. Also, installed again on QPR3 and charging seems ok.

Yes my bad.. It was the one plus hide navigation bar module I used.. It was the only one that worked fine with android 13.. Does anyone know a proper one to hide that pill bar?!

AOSPmods, works fine for that. Some of the stuff is incompatible with 13 QPR3, but hiding the pill works fine.
