Welcome to Team OpenKirin AOSP Project. Our goal is to provide
a overall stable AOSP experience across all Huawei/Honor phones
utilizing a Kirin SoC and EMUI 8.0 - either updated or shipped.
So far most of the bugs have been fixed and the ROMs are fully usable
as daily driver - and fully Kirin optimized.
This is the device support section for: Honor 8.
Any bugs found on this device(s) can be reported here, please include proper logs if you encounter any issues.
We support 3 ROMs in total as of now - LineageOS (Unofficial), ResurrectionRemix OS (Official from Beta 2+), OmniRom
You can find all needed guides/roms on our official website: https://openkirin.net
Requirements: basically full stock EMUI 8.0, with stock recovery/ramdisk

Awesome, finally xD

Guys, last time I checked, you said that Openkirin ROMs are not working with the Chinese dual-sim models (AL10, AL00 etc.) due to the difference in cellular network or something like that. Is that fixed yet?

i've been throwing this in the telegram chat but so far no nice.
i've been having camera connect issues after the first reboot, tried RROS and LOS (latest betas) and so far no dice
here's my logcat from earlier with RROS, idk why this works only one time. btw, honor 8 FRD-L04, should be in the logcat if that matters.

:good:

No volte no custom rom for me ! Throwing this honor 8 after my exams ! Bye open kirin !

Yup. As i understand it none of the devs have a Chinese model so they do what they can with what they have.

Will you support FRD-L09 build when it receives Oreo update?

FRD-L09 is not in the devices list yet but FRD-L19 which is similar - just more space (64 GB). I will try RROS 6 by OpenKirin today.

Just making sure, camera working? Also there is no brightness bug like on stock? Interested to try RR if camera working

Device list? On the OK website? Or FF? Either way, Oreo has been available for the L09 since the beginning of July and it's well known if you search the forum here that OK supports the h8. Update via hurupdater to Oreo then follow the instructions on the OK website. I'm on omni with my L04

Stock camera works. I believe it has a few hiccups, but since being on Omni I've experienced no issues. Not sure what brightness bug you speak of (never had it on stock personally) but the screen all the way tuned down is brighter than what stock would be.

Yes, I meant OK site. I didn't say anything about the availability or something else.
I installed RROS today. Working fine so far. :good:

RR working good on L09. There is two camera apps installed one is LA version and another one is Stock based camera app. Good news is stock camera app working for both lenses. Finally I can move from boring EMUI and brightness bug for some apps like Chrome, Solid Explorer and Gmail. For root access, install Magisk Manager and the root access. Thank you OK <3

Installed Magisk, follow steps using RAMDISK.img (from the stock Oreo I flashed before RRos), got a patched boot.img.
But when I try to flash with adb, it doesn't. It gives an error:
fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'boot' (9282 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.308s]
writing 'boot'...
FAILED (remote: partition length get error)
finished. total time: 0.325s

Got it, thank you.
Do you know by any chance, what system apps to hide in Magisk? I know what user apps I want to hide...
I also get "The response is invalid" for Safetynet check.

Everyone gets invalid response currently. Google changed their servers, you can read about it online, just search safetynet issue in google.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/safetynet-fails-matter-response-ins-t3829115
I don't know what apps you would like to hide in magisk, I personally only hidden one (netbank app).

For the deep sleep issue...Please use this lib fixes. lib and lib64: lib64
Delete 2 libsurfaceflinger libs from /system/lib and system/lib64 then copy the new libs and add 644 permission for the pasted libs, then reboot.
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
For working fingerprint, nfc, and many more you need to install the LAST STOCK ROM for your Honor 8 variant because it pulls your device infos, and drivers. Then flash surdu's TWRP,format data, and flash my RR rom and Gapps.
Frequently Asked Questions + Useful info:
- The first boot will always be slow. This is because once you enter your google account details it starts updating the google apps and your personal details, while downloading your own applications as well
- The rom does not include Huawei's own services and user interface
- The rom is rooted by default
- After first boot, turn off NFC (or at least try to remove the check from the checkbox, it will not be possible due to a bug), then reboot the phone. After this you will be able to turn it on/off as per usual.
- The rom contains TWRP recovery (power+volume up=TWRP)
- To enable "Developer Tools" menu options, navigate to "Settings->About Phone" and tap "Build number" 4-5 times
- It is not possible to update a rom OTA, only from recovery. The method of updating the rom is the same as installing it from step the only difference is that the " wipe data/factory reset" part needs to be skipped
- You can make the Google search bar disappear from the home screen by opening the settings menu of the Trebuchet launcher via long press. Then expand the advanced settings by swiping up the grey bar of Wallpapers Modules Themes. Here look for the Search bar and switch it off.

This is just brilliant to see you releasing this RR N ROM.
It may have some bugs but that is to be expected as cm14.1 still ain't finished.
Things will get better once Honor release the official N for this phone.
In the mean time thank you so much for putting the effort in.

Download the updated TWRP 3.1.0-0 for this weeks release here: https://www.nextgen-networks.de/downloads/category/7-xiaomi-mi-mix.html
Works ONLY with Android 7.0 Nougat based weekly ROMs provided by:

With this release screen keeps unusual dark.-> Workaround: Set brightness to max in TWRP.
Final fix would be to build TWRP from the scratch based not yet released Android 7 / Nougat kernel.

Sorry for the probably stupid comment, I ask this out of utter lack of knowledge and in good faith: why is it funny and, as I understand, foolish for xiaomi to look for beta testers for a Nougat based rom? Is it because xiaomi.eu has been doing that already? Am I missing everything out?

I believe the context here is that it is that it is simply of interest that an official Nougat release is announced / ready for beta test.

Yes thats correct.
You don't need the updated TWRP for Updating via the updater app because the app cripts the Update process.
The updated TWRP is needed right after first boot of the new ROM, because it uses an new kernel and touchscreen driver.
To make the touchscreen working in TWRP again this driver das to be integrated in TWRP.
Cheers!

The context is ment a little different:
To understand it you should know, that xiaomi.eu is not directly connected to the official xiaomi company.
Therefore It would be interesting to know where the sources for the Android 7 / Nougat ROM that can be downloaded on xiaomi.eu come from.
Because on the official server on http://en.miui.com you can download the Android 6 / Marshmallow based weekly rom only and in the official forum there is an announcment for an upcoming closed beta test for an Android 7 / Nougat ROM that will start next week only.

Disclaimer:
Altough we are working hard to deliver a bug-free rom, things may break and we are not responsible if something goes wrong and your hardware becomes damaged or if you have any problem, you are taking a risk flashing roms.
Hi, so you might wonder why the other thread got closed and what's all of this about. Well, the answer is that now I'll be maintaining this rom while Surdu will take care of Resurrection Remix, the rom is the same and you can flash this builds without wiping if you had the 'older' rom.

If you come from stock EMUI 5.0:
Install TWRP (Available in this subforum)
Format data
Flash vendor.zip
Flash LineageOS's zip
If you already have LineageOS:
Flash LineageOS's zip

Sorry about that, there must be a problem with XDA servers, it's taking more than an hour to upload! And unfortunately I couldn't upload it without posting the DevDB thread, if it keeps working like that I'll find a more reliable storage solution.
I am really sorry! Check back in 5 minutes or so
Very nice job, and happy you fixed the issue. I'll set it as my daily driver once everything's OK
So what exactly caused the issues ? I'm curious as to whether it could have been solved on our own (i do say without Huawei's kind but forced operations).
And what do we do with that vendor.zip ? Flash it on top of Lineage's original Vendor package ?
(EDIT : Check post on top, the joys of cross-posting )
Still, thank you immensely on behalf of all the community

Hi, the problem was that a driver introduced by Huawei checked the time that it takes to boot (running in a kthread), if it takes more than three minutes it reboots to eRecovery, but it looks like it waits for a signal from userspace to check if it booted (like, write 1 to /sys/.... Whenever it boots).
We were actually aware of this being the issue, and tried to avoid it by editing the function's code (ARM64 instructions because we had no source (By filling the function with NOP or returning 0)) but we didn't succeed at first and thought that the kernel release was near so it made no sense to keep wasting time on it, if you want to see more details just go to github and check what we did, I hope that you understood the explanation.
Thanks for your kind words!
EDIT: The rom is up, you can download it now.
The Lineage zip file has uploaded! Thanks again for all your guys work.
Thx for your job. I'll now have to unlock the bootloader and start flashing. Two questions: can I lock the bootloader again once I installed LOS? Do i need to install twrp or is it enough to just boot it for installation?

Not at all, you need to be on EMUI in order to relock it. (You can if you go back to EMUI but I think that you asked if you could do that while you are on LineageOS).

TWRP is just needed to format data and install the ROM, there's no need to keep it after installing the ROM.

I do not want to be rude, but if you want a personalized rom, based LOS or AOSP with fully dual camera support and FPS gesture, you better stay on stock EMUI
does the rom supports volte?if no please add that feature..this is the one con to make it as my daily driver

Where can I download this?

TWRP is just needed to format data and install the ROM, there's no need to keep it after installing the ROM.

What about updates? Do I need TWRP for (OTA-LOS) updates?

Quick question, if I go back to stock and update to Oreo, will that relock the bootloader?
I forgot to get my unlock code before Huawei stopped providing them and I didn't back up the one I've generated when I originally unlocked it.

you can grab your unlock code through DC-Unlocker, never used it, but users say it works - approx. 4 bucks.

How do you expect Open Sourxe ROM to be updated/pushed by OTA?
Ressurcertion Remix beta 2 is working great! Just the SIM on my EVA-AL10 isn´t working. On SIM slot 1 it´s saying no SIM card and it seems that i don´t have a IMEI. Only SIM slot 2 is working and having an IMEI. Does anybody know a fix?

Tried the fix. Now I have at least two IMEIs but now I have no service on both SIM cards. Do you guys need any logs (and if so can you explain how to get them)?
Hi @OldDroid, after all I want to say thank you for the time and effort spent in this kind of developments!!
I am wondering if you are working along phhusson in the treble project. I want to know this because in one hand in phhusson treble project are a lot a different ROMs that would be great to have in the P9 and in the other hand I read that this ROMs have some problems with P9 (I haven't tested myself) and lack of the stock camera for example. If I didn't missunderstood yours treble ROMs works perfect and also have the stock camera. Would be great to combine both of the advantages of each other.
Regards!

no VoLTE support on any of our roms.
These are GSIs specifically made for kirin platform, not snapdragon, exynos, mediatek.

Is the USSD problem fixed in Beta 5? If not, is it a priority?

The fastboot method worked. I didn't have to factory reset and I didn't lose anything.
Why does everything show as unknown in About Phone?
Soo i can't use it on my bll-l21 with android 7.0 and emui 5.0.1?

Debrand to BLN-L22, update to the latest build and check how to install Indian Beta. From there unlock your bootloader and flash using ADB.

If frp is locked, use firmware finder to set your dns to firmware finder's IP address and download the latest official firmware from Huawei using erecovery. This will set your phone back to nougat but you will unlock frp.
Front camera cannot save pictures (GR52017 Pro) but 3rd Camera can work perfectly.

There's detailed instruction within the firmware finder for the dns setting. Basically, if you're using a router, set your router's dns to firmware finder's dns setting and use erecovery to download the official firmware.
Can we use it in my Honor 6x BLL-L22 variant?
