FAQ:
Can we install the OTA file without unlocking bootloader?
Nope. Maaaaaybe trough EDL if you are adventurous and know more than me.
How to install the OTA with unlocked bootloader then?

That ROM was compiled on 24 July, so no August security patch. Probably near the end of August the ROM with the August security patch will be released.
This ROM is only for Mi A2 Lite, named "daisy".
It's not for Mi A2 "jasmine".

Yes, rooting (i.e. installing Magisk) must be done properly to let the OTA updates working.
The guide to install Magisk written here in this forum works but no OTA.
Probably I will rewrite one to do it properly (that is the same guide as Mi A1).
In your case, flash the original boot.img taken from fastboot ROM zip, then you can apply OTA (except if you tampered directly with system partition).
After the OTA, install Magisk again but following the right method.

Does for me not work. I got the same Errormessage as with patched_boot.img. After that I flashed the whole Rom with Miflash and the Device runs after that smoother and the little stuttering on Homescreen are blown away.

Any chance this could be ported to run on Redmi 6 Pro? They're the same device except for Android One and A/B layout.

This is not the OTA, it can't be sideloaded. You have to flash this through fastboot (and you need a unlocked bootloader to do so)

In the Netherlands finally the Android pie update arrived. My xt1929-8 was rooted and did not reboot after uninstall magisk. In a way it messed up the partitions. I had to reinstall Android 8.1 and then the Android pie installed without problems. After that reroot with magisk and everything works perfectly.

Why not, I plan on doing it tomorrow, then taking the OTA through the phone update. :good:
got OTA on 8.1 working again.
after flashing XT1929-8_BECKHAM_RETEU_DS_8.1.0_OPWS28.70-47-8_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-XT1929-8_CFC.xml (DOWNLOAD) using fastboot i had to restore TWRP backup of Firmware partition to get modem and wifi working.
i've had it on SD card and i have no idea if it's a backup of 8.1 or 9.0 modem firmware.
after booting it i have received 9.0 update notification.
i'll let you know if OTA will work after installing 9.0.
also verity was set to disabled before, now it's logging again.
i flashed that 8.1 to both a and b:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin

Fastboot GUIDE flashing Stock Properly for OMNI

Before flashing OMNI make sure you have done this:
Click to collapse
1. Unlock Bootloader
2. boot to twrp
3. If you just unlocked bootloader, you are currently booted to SLOT A.
Now from twrp reboot menu, reboot to SLOT B.
4. Reboot to system. Most probably you already booted to stock ROM with slot B also.
IF
Click to collapse
You are unable to reboot to stock ROM after booting to slot B, that means the stock ROM is not there.
A error message will come (Your device is corrupt probably)
5. Boot to fastboot again
6. Now please do the procedure to flash the STOCK ROM once again.
(NOTE : Motorola has channels, like brazil, indian and other) Please check which channel your stock ROMs belong to.
If you tried to flash OMNI and it causes device corrupt please follow this guide.
The very purpose of making this thread is a Lot of people including me are facing issues with flashing OMNI. There was this issue where OMNI ROM was not booting properly and showing device corrupt after flashing it. For some it was booting and for some it wasn't. There was nothing clear. A user named @edsoi had done some testing and @vache comes to the conclusion that the commands lying on internet weren't correct that people are using to flash the Stock ROM.
So to streamline the flashing process for all of us, this thread comes to life here. On behalf of @vache i am writing this here. Hope this will be beneficial to all the community, and we can flash OMNI on our devices.
NOTE : Hope you have adb and fastboot working for this guide.
This is manual guide. You need to put each and every command one by one in the Terminal.

Hi, what bluetooth codecs are enabled and available for use with this ROM?
Thanks
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but where do I find the files that are needed when flashing the lines manually?
I managed to flash Omni Rom eventually and it runs real smooth. However BT does not work at all, it only keeps crashing
Is this a known issue? is there some sort of quick fix for this?
Everything else works great though so thanks for all the work!
cheers

If you have converted to international for all intents and purposes you now have a GSM1917 international. You can install Derpfest and all the other "regular roms". If you do the "manual method" where you flash each partition you should be good to go.

Would it be possible for you to link me to the source of that TWRP build? I would like to get it on my phone.
Also, that would allow me to build a flashable zip of this firmware.

I found nebrassy's twrp image, but it still does not support decryption.
Also, when I booted to it, it messed up my entire system. The phone was no longer able to boot to android and when I reflashed my boot image it started crashing on boot.
I am looking into how to get this working properly.

If you didn't find the post where he specifically says "here is the fbev2 version" then you didn't install the right one. He has SEVERAL versions of twrp.

Both Derpfest and Yaap work well with fbev2 and are Android 11 based on AOSP. I'm sorry that happened to you. In future you should use "Fastboot BOOT twrp.img" to boot recovery without replacing the existing recovery...then if it didn't work all you'd need to do if force the phone to power off via holding down vol up and power for several seconds. Still not sure how you soft bricked because I tried installing it in recovery on a non compatible rom and all it did was startup and show available storage as 0. It showed no files...once i upgraded the rom then it worked fine.
If you pay attention to with slot you are booting to and flashing to ,it will help out slot. This will always leave you a option to repair. By just switching to the opposite slot to boot to recovery. If you don't know the command then you should really learn fastboot --help. It's all the same as Python.

I have the extracted payload, but im not sure if it's actually usable on the GM1915. I can upload it if you need it, but there are several partitions you cant flash and the system image is not in the proper sparse format.
