Question about Canada model (A530W) vs A530F - Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hi,
I recently got the Canadian variant of this phone but I've noticed the model number is different than what all custom roms seem to be released for. I have managed to root and install TWRP successfully following a guide made for the A530F but I just wanted to verify if roms made for the A530F (specifically this one) will work for the A530W.
I've done a bit of research but I can't find any useful information. All I've found out is that the Canadian model contains a slightly older CPU (which I'm a little angry about but oh well).
Any answers or information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

i have an a530w aswell but you cannot flash that specific rom because it is an official firmware and will brick your phone unless it's an a530f
but you can flash a rom that isnt official like AOSP and other roms that can be flashable from TWRP ONLY
just that at the moment there isnt any rom flashable from twrp yet...

Oh! That's actually really interesting. I'm going to have to try that myself because the lack of the data toggle has been really annoying. I don't get why we don't get it in the first place.

ok, so basically. A530F and A530W don't have the very same hardware?
TIA

yes they do lmao they're the exact same
just different model number so it's actually Odin that makes it fail because trying to flash a full firmware from a530f on a530w won't work cuz the letters dont match

So no way to change from A530W to A530F?
What if we change the CSC while in combination firmware?

Update for SM-P905 (baseband no: P905XXUANA7 build no: P905XXUANC3) ?

Hi guys,
Am I mistaken or is this the last samsung note pro in the known universe to receive an update to lollipop? I understand it's been a long wait for all note pro users. Does anyone here have an idea when this particular model SM-P905 (baseband no: P905XXUANA7 build no: P905XXUANC3) will receive an update?

Unless I've missed something, the firmware for my specific model isn't available from sammobile, so I can't use odin to update.

I guess you don't have to flash a specific firmware since you have the international 905 model !!
Mine was from italy and i flashed UAE firmware without problems !!

Oh. I feel so newb (And I'm a tech guy...awkward....lol). Mine is running stock kitkat (4.4.2). I rooted it a while back, but so far, have not flashed it with any rom. Correct me if I'm wrong - international version means that all the LTE/radio bands are unlocked? I can't flash it with Deodex.Root.Xposed, as I'm not running stock lollipop. Which rom did u flash yours with?
Chris
You should be able to use Odin to flash any of the released 905 version lollipop updates from sammonbile. You will lose your root however.

Thanks for the link, however, I live in Australia, so according to sammobile, there's no lollipop firmware for this country:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-P905/XSA/
Since your going to flash it yourself just choose any region (pick one thats on 5.1.1) and flash that. Then just change the language and time zone settings during set up and you should be good to go. Many US customers with the 905 used this method when other countries were getting the original 5.0.1 update before them. Worked fine.

Thanks for the info. Cool. I'll keep an eye out for 5.1.1. If I'm not mistaken, most are 5.0.2 at the moment, except AT&T.

But everything very fast and smooth just want toval approve which nougat rom must be downloaded from sammobile because i don't know exactly my phone detail due to it is fake and currently rom is ok or not
Search on google market CPU identifier ..some.users says it's show the truth about hardware even if it's spoofed to show something else

If it is snapdragon, 100% it is not the G930F so no you can not flash International

Yes you need to flash stock for the G930V if you want Nougat stock (G930VVRU4BQC5)
I have no idea about your network compatibility

Your phone has been faked, it is a very common issue here on XDA
Everything can be faked apart from download mode
Label on the back, anything inside the firmware, sticker on the box, all can be faked
Download mode cannot be faked, your phone is G930V, end of story

MM or Nougat makes no difference, if you flash for G930V it will flash fine, no dm-verity, no kernel problems, it is the correct stock ROM for your model S7
The only thing I can not predict is your network compatibility
Anyway, whoever you bought the phone from lied to you and ripped you off, if you bought it as G930F, get a refund

You're not understanding me, it is not a fake S7, it has been faked to look like a different model S7
It is a Samsung Galaxy S7 model G930V
They change the model number so it looks like International version G930F and other more popular models
The US models are bootloader locked so not very popular
That is the only thing faked with it
if you flash G930V firmware, it will be 100% genuine S7 G930V

Hey dear friend
I scare to do anything by myself so i gave it to programmer and he told me i will flash F model nougat and there will be no problem but after 24 hours he told me F and V roms he downloaded from sammobile fails during flash and he must install 4 file rom and take more money and he finally installed the G930V rom but i don't think so he did anything special maybe he just flashed a official rom from sam.
However my 4G internet speed is very down but rest of mobile performance is ok and nougat is much better.

G955FXXU1AQH3 unlocked, bloatware grabage problem.

Hey fella's, and ladies. I just got my G955F, bought inside of the US off of the same person I usually go through. Turns out It's a UK model that came with Vodafone bloatware and shows 4G instead of LTE (even though it IS LTE). Is there a US variant? And if so can I flash the phone with any G955F variant software using odin? So I guess I'm asking, what is the best, and purest firmware if I am in the US. I have T-Mobile and I'm in Cali. Thanks ahead. (Sorry, but I posted this in the S8 section originally, like a dumb-dumb)
Also, could I flash with G955U unlocked firmware?
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=SM-G955F
Here you can download the US ROM and use Odin to flash - these are official ROM's so Knox will not be tripped
NO
You CANNOT flash a G955U rom to a G955F device
It will definately soft brick or even hard brick your device
You can flash this rom ( https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G955F/EUR/download/G955FXXU1AQH3/184528/ )
No bloatware, multilang and fast updates.

DON'T GIVE WRONG INFORMATION!!!
If you don't know what you talking about, then say nothing!
You CAN'T flash G955U FW to a G955F
Do you know the difference between the G955U & G955F?
If you did, than you would have known the answer!!!

Got it. Couldn't find any US firmware on that page. Part of my question about the US firmware, or multilang firmware comes from the fact that Walmart sells G955F's. I would imagine whatever firmware is on there would be what I would want. Just don't know what that is.
-Thanks for all the replies so far. If I can't figure out what firmware comes on the US Walmart G955F phone, I suppose I will go with the variant listed above.
-Also, will VoLTE work on the multilang rom? Or is there a rom that works with T-Mobile and VoLTE? And if anyone is wondering, I wanted to Exynos variant, that's why I didn't buy G955U.

G930f shows as G935f after flashing Superman Rom V3

Spent the weekend flashing Superman Rom trying to get CSC's etc right.
g930fxxu4esae is baseband
g930f kernel
but the build # is G935f (erg2)
and my phone Model number changed to G935f.
Is this how its supposed to be?
I've flashed this before, and maybe didn't notice. Will this affect how my rom works?
Does anyone know if superman rom uses the same build to flash G930f as the G935f ?

Interesting, I'm not familiar with the term Device Tree.
So regarding mobiles sharing the same device tree, does this mean complete rom, modem, bl etc, inter-compatibility?

G935F is the edge version of the G930F, it's the same device just a bigger screen and the developer decided to code it G935F. It will make no difference to how your G930F runs, all is good.
Yes most G935F will run on G930F but check the post actually says that before flash.

Question S908N KTC to KOO

Hello fellows
So my issue is a bit long so sorry for that
I got this phone 3 days ago
S908N KTC Unlocked ( I live in Middle East and the SIM is working just fine )
I didn't know that this was a branded phone from KTC, I thought it was unbranded KOO
So right now I want to change the firmware to KOO to get rid of the KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings
So how should I do that ? Just flash the KOO firmware using Odin? do I need to change csc? is that risky and may trigger Knox and block the phone ?
and after that can I just flash like the middle east firmware ?
Thank you in advance and sorry for taking too long
I'm attaching a screenshot of the CSC and software version of service provider

Yes, but some users already tried and it worked. I remember reading one or two days ago about exactly this...it says it is not supported but it works. I recall it was an Exynos device not SnapDragon but should work the same

Thanks for confirming
At least it appears possible to root it and maybe install a custom rom.
I assume that only the rom builders might be able to create a solution for the N version as an installation option in a rom.
However they might not be motivated due to the small number of people having the N versions. Unless of course a few of us agree to contribute in the form of a donation, then maybe a developer can play around and make it happen. What do you think?

Any news on changing KTC to KOO? I rooted SM-S908N, installed app Phone INFO+ Samsung, but don't see a way to change CSC. It just sees KTC region. Chimera Tool also gives info SM-S908N is not supported device. So, is there any way to get KOO or at least get rid of KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings?
