FM Radio on AOSP ROMS - Samsung Galaxy J7 NXT ( J701F Core NXT Exynos 7870

G'day XDA.
I have found out that AOSP ROMs (Lineage OS, Cosmic OS etc.) doesn't have the built in FM radio app when flashing the firmware. However the stock Samsung Touchwiz ROMs have the FM and works flawlessly.
So what exactly is the reason why AOSP has this issue? Is it possible to get it working?
My Chipset:
Exynos 7870
Mali GPU
Cheers!

I have managed to obtain a copy of the Motorolla FM Radio and it launches. It gives the error: currently not available.
I believe it need the libraries ported from the stock ROM to the AOSP ROM.

It looks like this may not be developed an longer, not sure because I didn't give it that detailed of a read, but you might try:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/spirit-fm/app-spirit2-free-source-real-fm-radio-t2951455
or
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/fm.a2d.sf/
In both cases, I'd try to use the F-Droid repo in case they are getting updated. The play store links no longer work and when I searched for them there was a result suggesting that the original developer has died, so hopefully they work for AOSP in its current state.

He was a patient dude when I had troubles with an app permission. Most developers don't even bother to address emails, I found out when I was gapps free for a while and was asking people to switch me from Google verification to Paypal.
Also know that he was, for a long time, the only dude in Android development that was working on FM receivers and transmitters on Android, as far as I know, so I hope the apps are still available and work out for you.

Also found this just now. Says its incompatible and I can't see if its free, but you can still try it from Yalp store, installable from F-droid, and see if it works. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextradioapp.nextradio&hl=en

[Q] 7 Little Words?

So, I have a Samsung Captivate, and I've been enjoying the game/puzzle 7 Little Words. My mom (the X10 owner) always plays it on my phone and would love to have it on her X10. Unfortunately, she cannot find it in her market, the app does not support App2SD (as far as I can tell), and my attempts at sideloading have failed. If it changes things, she is running unofficial Froyo.
Is there any way I can get her this game?
Thanks in advance.
You might have to modify the fingerprint in the build prop.
one sec I'll find a good link

Here you go!
www.slatedroid.com/topic/13152-modifying-buildprop-to-enable-protected-apps/
Or, just upgrade her phone to official 2.3.3 and it will now be compatable
Use SEUS or PCCompanion to upgrade, both are free downloads from SE website

DarkSide 4.5.9. musicplayer is missing

DarkSide 4.5.9. musicplayer is missing, was the same on 4.5.5. I hope, that newer builds can be installed as update (without formatting)
Did you try posting in the actual thread containing said rom? Did you download the lite version?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
...I only posted it here, because I'm an new member and are not allowed to post in dev's. Yes I chose the lite-version, because I only want my hardware running. I don't need other blur-stuff, but I thought, that a music-player is an essential part of lite-blur.
Do you know, if there is a version, that can be installed as an update (without formatting with ext4, if ext4 already exists)? In CM it was possible to install a newer version over an older without wiping, so all data, apps, and settings were kept.
For better "support" you could post it in the Atrix general forum, instead of "General" general Anyways, if the said player is in previous version of rom, just download this older version on your computer, and extract musicplayer apk from rom zip archive (it's probably going to be somewhere in /system/apk ), and load it into your phone.
cheers

BTW... I have the same version of DS (4.5.9 lite) installed right now, and I see that the music player is included (the one from moto blur).
cheers
I installed the full blur now and now the player is installed. No chance with the lite version. I posted this here, because I didn't knew that it was Atrix specific.
Anyway, thank you for your answer and quick reaction...

Nextbook 7P Google Play Store Install

I have a Nextbook 7P, running on Gingerbread 2.3.1, which my father (the original owner of this account) has put some custom ROM or something on it. I'm not a hundred percent certain what all he did on there and I cannot ask him as he passed away in 2012.
Anyways, I found that the tablet does not have Google Play installed, which means I have virtually no way to install any apps. I've already tried checking to see if it was disabled.
I understand some terminology and the basics of ROM flashing, but I am by no means very tech savvy. Back when my dad was alive (I was 11 at the time) he was the major techie and I was sort of his protégé, but all I really did was develop some simple apps, so any simple and easy to do solutions would be very appreciated, thank you.
On google search for the stock rom of your device and flash it.

If you mean restore the original ROM, as in reverting it back to the factory settings, I don't necessarily want to lose any customizations that my dad put on there (for sentimental reasons), especially because I wouldn't know how to reflash said customizations.
Ok then do it with flashify

Incompatible Apps on different ROM's.

Hey I have a Samsung S4 International, jfltexx.
Different ROM's are sometimes incompatible with some apps.
For example on Euphoria OS 1.1 I cannot install Vainglory from the store, but on Albe95 Lollirom I can install Vainglory from the store.
The app I'm talking about, Vainglory, is a game that's frequently updated and has lots of events that are time limited, waiting for a 3rd party site to upload the apk takes too long and some events might be missed which is a huge loss for me.
My questions are : What causes this?, How can this be fixed?
Thanks.
are Euphoria OS 1.1 and Albe95 Lollirom have same android versions
Yes, 5.1.1 Lollipop, except albe95 is a touchwiz rom and euphoria is aosp.
ok
---------- Post added at 08:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:24 PM ----------
so the app must be compavtable with one of the varient either touchwiz or aosp.
they do have different user interface in frameworks

Is there a ROM for Nexus 5 with security updates AND works with Google apps?

I would be happy to run ResurrectionRemix (Pie) but even the smallest GApps package from Open GApps fails to install because there's not enough space once RR is installed. TWRP reports around 48 MB available in the system partition.
Do AOSP pie rom

Been using it since October 2018 as a daily driver for an old Nexus 5 phone n it's been serving me great
Regular security patches too (last was April 2019 for Pie)
Also takes GAPPs
Do repartition before.
Follow this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79928889&postcount=190
Then flash RR and gapps.
chmbrnl: Thanks for the suggestion. I would have loved to try AOSP but couldn't find any site that actually provides AOSP ROM builds. I did see AOSPExtended - is that the one you mean? If not, can you tell me where the AOSP ROMs are available?
srepole: Thanks for your suggestion. I was hesitant to follow the procedure you referenced, which calls for installing somebody's modified TWRP recovery from an unknown (at least to me) Mega account and then running a script whose author is also unknown to me. But since I knew of no other option for getting a system that met my requirements, I took your advice and followed the procedure. And as far as I can tell it worked perfectly and my durable ol' Nexus 5 is up and running RR Pie and GApps like a champ!
Thanks to both of your for your input and help!

AOSP (#1) not AOSP Extended (#2)
That's (#2) something different
For AOSP (#1) by Unlegacy Android Project, download it at https://notredame.app.box.com/s/26a4bygh9vbaw7jjq08xr5evomvaw5ww
Open with a desktop browser or enable desktop mode if on mobile
The CAF version works smoother than the non-CAF version
