[Help] Shutdown boot into BL - Honor View 10 Questions & Answers

My device is a BKL-L09
Previously running cr6.1 (8.1)
When I tried flashing a new Kernel(Radioactive) thinking it might fix the safetynet CTS profile mismatch, it (or actually I) broke something so that now I can't boot into the custom recovery or the system. eRecovery seems to work just fine (except that it, well ... doesn't since I have the international version where restoring is a non-working option).
That being said I can't really boot anything and I've already been looking everywhere on how to boot(not unlock) into the BL from shutdown. But all didn't work.
Does somebody have a working BKL-L09 and can look into booting it?
Edit:
eRecovery boots everytime after 3 times of bootlooping.
The phone will restart on it's own after having it shutdown after 15!! seconds of pressing the power button (is this behaviour normal?) and the only way to shut it down for good is selecting "shutdown" in eRecovery.
No matter the other buttons, pressing VOL UP will always boot the update installer, which will always output "Software install failed! (get help from...)"

Sorry, I must've missed the L04(too thrilled :cyclops.
But I don't really care about the data (of course I would like it back, but... priorities), and right now I have a broken phone that won't boot into BL nmw.
List i tried:
Vol down; 3s; cable
Vol down; cable
Same with vol up and vol up/down
just power on loads erecovery after a bit
Vol up gives installing update
I think I somehow broke my BL.
Is a kernel pre or past BL on boot? (Pre, isn't it..?)

bricked my A9

dottech.org/189086/how-to-install-twrp-recovery-on-htc-one-a9-guide/
I was following the guide at the above link trying to install TWRP on my A9. I had already successfully unlocked the bootloader through the HTCDev website. When I attempted to install TWRP , it failed due to S-ON error. Now it is stuck on the initial boot-up screen that says HTC, has a white background, and says powered by android at the bottom. Additionally, now that screen displays "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permission. Failure to comply may result in legal action." in red letters. I have tried every combination of button pushes that I can think of in an attempt to power it down or restart it. It is stuck on that screen and will not respond. At this point I am just waiting for the battery to die.
Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions. Thanks
don't understand why this guide makes you flash a boot image if you just want TWRP...
Once you're unlock, the only thing you need to do is flash TWRP from the official thread you'll find on this forum (i suggest the 2.8.8.0 version, seems to be the most stable).
You don't need to be S-OFF either...
You should still be able to boot on download mode to flash the recovery again. I've already been on that situation and I managed to get to the download mode by pressing at the same time power + volume down and holding after having restarted the phone with the power + volume up pushing and holding.

Probably because most of these 'How-to' pages are copying from each other and most of them describe not only the installation of TWRP, but also root (su). It is a simple catastrophy how many 'half cooked' and wrong descriptions are out there. I was roaming the net for 3 days now and I'm more confused than before ...
Actually I have my A9 only a week and experienced the opposite . I wanted it to be TWRP AND ROOT and found a page, that didn't mention the modified boot.img. Now I have NO root and wonder, whether I still can flash the altered boot.img (and which! Are all boot.img for unlocked A9s equal? There seems to be only one version). BTW, after flashing TWRP I also though I can enter it with Vol+ & Power but that leads in my case to also a seemingly dead phone with not even the chance to power it down, no matter how long I press that power button (have 2.8.8.0 TWRP). My only reliable way to enter TWRP is to boot into the standard bootloader and from there to reboot 'custom recovery'. Anyway ... on topic :
@TO: while the phone is showing that HTC-logo and is 'dead' for any buttons, is it still listening to the USB-port? I could reboot mine with 'fastboot' (or was it 'adb'). Something like 'fastboot reboot recovery' (or 'adb reboot recovery') helped to get me out of that dead lock. Did you try that?
P.S.: Did I mention how much I miss my removable battery (though, the A9 is beauty because of that built-in battery!)? But actually I don't understand, why that 'universal' 10+ sec. power-button press doesn't switch off the phone! Normally this trick (also on PCs) works with a kind of software independent hardware timer ... well because, to work also in the worst case of software failure. No idea what HTC did there (the A9 is my first HTC).
Try to flash a RUU related to your phone, it should fix it
You have to Press both Volume Buttons and the Powerbutton at the same time for ten Seconds. This have worked for me every Time.

[Completed] [Fixed]Bricked Huawei P8

I was running a lollipop bootloader and since i wanted to upgrade to marshmallow i had to update the bloodloader too, so i flashed a new stock boot.img obtained from a stock rom and soon after that i also flashed twrp, i think i somehow bypassed the new (locked?) bootloader with a custom recovery and now i'm stuck in "Rescue Mode".
Device is now stuck into that mode, i cannot turn it off or enter recovery, as soon as i restart my phone it goes into rescue mode, i have already tried all key combinations and also tried to force install from sdcard, my computer is not recognizing my device either so i can't use adb, i had no idea bricking a device like this was even possible, i'm quite desperate.. please help.
[How i fixed it] I somehow managed to get out of Rescue Mode, what i did wrong was not holding vol down + power long enough, you have to hold them down until phone restarts, that takes about 10 seconds, after that you will feel a vibration and huawei logo will appear, keep holding buttons down for 4-5 more seconds before taking your fingers off, it should then go into fastboot, once you're there adb should work and you will be able to unlock the bootloader if it is not unlocked already, after that you should be able push data to device or flash recovery again. If adb still doesn't work check usb drivers, your best bet is probably downloading HiSuite.
Awesome! :good:
Glad you got it going! I'll close this thread now! But here is your device section for future use, http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/huawei-p8
Cheers!

Bootlop / cannot enter TWRP from Bootloader Menu / Power button stuck

Hi guys,
I currently have some issues with my beloved N5. I try to be as specific as I can (therefore the text will be a bit longer)
First things first: My device is experiencing the well known "stuck power button problem".
But I also do have problems which are not related to that one (at least thats what I believe).
Overview:
CM 13.1
ElementalX Kernel
TWRP on 3.0.20
Main issue: I can not start my phone regularly. When not plugged in, it just does not respond at all.
If it is plugged in I can get into the bootloader with only pressing Volume down (because the power button is stuck inside). Weird fact #1: in bootloader the power button should work to confirm a specific task like Start, or boot into recovery but it doesnt. Also: the phone is steady in the bootloader and does not keep rebooting.
Therefore I wanted to perform a backup (nandroid or at least all media) and reflash my ROM to see whether it is more of a software issue. I tried booting into TRWP which is not working (device shuts down after Google logo (might be because of the power button issue?).
I know that I can flash the recovery again through adb or the Nexus ToolKit but obviously I want to save my data first.
As far as I know there is no option as adb pull or through the recovery to save those only being in bootloader mode, am I right?
Question: Can I dirty flash without losing data? If thats not the cure, what else could help?
Other facts to know: while running
Code:
adb devices
I get that the
Code:
"adb server version (36) doesnt match this client (35): killing...
but then:
Code:
*daemon started successfully*
(same in Nexus Toolkit).
If I continue with
Code:
adb backup
it says: no devices / emulators found. Altough the nexus toolkit (and fastboot devices) say:
Code:
FASTBOOT: 03181238e07723e0 fastboot
If you made it until here thank you for reading :good: and I would be even more pleased if someone could help.
Best,
McRacoon
I have this problem to , i cant use my volume and power button in ROM / TWRP ,
I got lost, which data you want to save ?
fastboot flash boot recovery.img | fastboot reboot than gets you to recovery from where you can save data.
@Redchi: not really exactly my problem but if you can get into recovery you can use your touchscreen in TRWP?!
@icrunchbanger thanks for your reply.
I want to save all my data like videos, pictures, whatsapp chats etc.
I know how to flash the recovery (again). The question was whether I can save any data without a working recovery (just from the bootloader). Imo it is not possible but maybe you guys know how to do so.
If I reflash the recovery I still can not enter it as the phone reboots itself every 5 seconds due to the stuck power button. The reflashing operation is not finished (Nexus Toolkit says: "Waiting for your device" and times out after a while) and the battery icon pops up every 3 seconds.
Edit: and yes I tried several workarounds to unstuck the power button like flicking against the button, tapping on table, cleaning etc. The only thing I haven't done is tearing the motherboard apart and replacing the whole button itself.
I recommend removing the motherboard, applying pure alcohol around the area, and then quickly pressing and releasing the power button? If this doesn't work, I suggest replacing the power button.
i can use button to get bootloader + TWRP , but my Button volume up down and power cant use in Rom or TWRP, i do no this software or hardware ,? my nexus normaly use but not have button , I use mikey or double tab to wake get screen on , i use apk to get volume , sorry bad english

Problem accessing the twrp 3.1.1.0

Hi everyone. I have an honor 6x emui 5, android 7 Nougat, and I unlocked the bootloader but I have a problem (I followed this guide) after running the command C:\ adb> adb reboot recovery, it says:
"Your device has been unlocked and can not be trusted.
To learn more, visit:
...
your device is booting now "
but it stays stuck on this screen and does not let me access the twrp.
Do you have a solution?
I looked around for something but there is nothing concrete and clear. Thanks a lot.
Luigi (i'm not Mario's brother)
Hi Luigi (ouch, thought it was Mario's bro :silly: ), once you flash TWRP through fastboot, you boot directly to it in way to don't let Huawei Recovery overwrite it immediately after?
To do this, as you finish to flash the image you'll need to boot to TWRP using hardware keys (at least that's what i did to make it works). When you're still in fastboot mode and TWRP is flashed, keep pressed power button and wait until your phone's display becomes black.
Be ready to hold down power button and Vol+ together as soon as you feel the phone vibrating while restarting (pay many attention to this step because it's the trickiest part - power button should be released while phone it's on black screen, but you'll for have to re-hold down power button again shortly after! Basically just hold the two keys and release them immediately as you see the Honor logo) and if everything went well, you'll finally be in TWRP.
Lemme know if you'll be able to win the game or if you need a Power-Up mushroom.

but then this operation I have to execute it before or even after visualizing the screen that I have told you before?
The point is that the twrp does not flash ...:crying:
I tried several times to execute the sequence, and now it is stuck on the screen of the 3 options, ie it does not start anymore
he did not want to. How do I do now? I've tried any combination of buttons but it remains locked :crying:

Immediately after that you've flashed TWRP and you get "success" message, when you're still on fastboot mode. Just type "fastboot reboot" and prepare to hold the keys once phone vibrates.

That's weird. But until I'll know more about the steps you did, helping becomes harder. Tell me something because just flashing stuff to recovery partition could not mess system that much, unless that you've flashed a wrong TWRP or the correct TWRP but in a wrong partition.

Question Phone bootloop at recovery mode.

Hi. After installing ROM from TWRP and restart, i got this as a bootloop. The problem is, it cannot boot into recovery despite the recovery word at the bottom left. So it looped on this page over and over. I tried all the known buttons and i cannot find anything similiar to my problem elsewhere. Anyone can help?

A bit more information , like phone model , how and which version you flashed.
otherwise pull battery (or wait to drain) charge and reboot back to download mode and reflash recovery.
this time making sure you do it right.
atleast ths is my procedure on samsung phones

Hi. Phone model Realme C2. TWRP flashing Realme UI. I think i made the mistake of formatting first or something before installing the ROM. I did took off the battery cable. Just that when the phone is powered on thru the cable, it also powered into the pic shown, which is a bootloop but can't boot into recovery. I believe this is an extremely rare situation. I'd be happy if it can boot into adb, then i can at least install back the original phone ROM.
Sometimes i managed to press and hold (vold down power) at the right time. on samsung phones
(right after it screen goes black i think) to get in to download mode during some bootloops.
But i am unfamiliar with fastboot mode i think your phone uses.
Try holding the physical buttons needed for you phones downloadmode/fastbootmode
while it is off and then plug the cable in ? just a guess though.

Hi. Nope. It will still boot into the screen on the pic, and it will loop over and over again. I took off the battery cable but when i plug the USB cable, it will also reboot into the pic with bootloop.
I felt that this is a very rare case of the phone screwing up. My initial intention was to install a light rom so i can use the extra space (even after root, App2SD doesnt work). Sigh.
if you remove the cable and let it drain , when it is off and you hold correct buttons for download/fastboot mode
and then plug the cable in it goes it to recovery mode ?
and keep trying press and hold different time in the loop , around the point of black screen/reboot point,
just before/at/and after.

Sorry, nope. It will boot into the Realme Logo and the recovery mode word on bottom left as shown in the pic. And then bootloop into the same thing again. It cannot enter recovery mode. I tried every combination of buttons with the battery attached and without. I believe the recovery section is erased, or it might be in another part of the memory but inaccessible.

are you sure you are trying button combinations for download/fastboot mode (not recovery).
we know recovery is fubared. so is system most probably.
you need to get in to download/fastboot to reflash recovery or stock firmware .
(hold buttons till you see download/fastboot , not just push and let go)
try correct button combination at all the different times in the loop.
and i had a siimmular problem once with a phone turning itself on and looping,
(turned out to be a glitchy power button , try fiddling with that , excersize it to get to unbind if it is)

Yes sir, i did. Tried all button combination at different times. The only thing that worked is the on/off button. When it is on, i press and hold a long time, and let go when the screen is off to turn off. And to turn it on, i press and hold a long time until the screen is on to turn on.
As noted, i might have screw up the installing 3rd party ROM process. I screwed up many times earlier, but i managed to reinstall back the original ROM because it was in adb. And now it isn't. Phones in my country aren't cheap, so if possible, i'd like to save this phone. My initial purpose to install a 3rd part ROM is to make use of the extra internal memory space (i rooted initially but i wasn't able to use App2SD).
so when you hold the power button and it turns off. then you need to use the
combination of buttons for fast boot to turn it on , not just power button .
make sure you have the correct buttons , double , tripple check with the correct buttons
and when to let them go.
