Always On Display - How to get WhatsApp notifications? - Vivo Nex Questions & Answers

Hi!
I have found that there is no way to show notifications on the Always On Display that are not from one of the built in Apps.
While the NEX has also so notification LED this is rather annoying. I have contacted vivo on that but all they say is that they will give feedback to their software department.
Therefore, I hope, someone with some 'hacking skills' has found out how to get the notifications if Gmail, IG, FB, WhatsApp... to show on my Always On Display.
Any help or hints is welcome!

Not possible. The only way is to set ur WhatsApp notification on floating. Like iPhone. So u need to press ur power button to see any new msg from WhatsApp.

Vivo need desperately improve AOD fanctionallity and customization.
Not supporting third party app notification is kind of stupidly.

Does Light Flow NotificationFunction for the LED's

I wanted to see if anyone is using Light Flow for your Led and sound notifications.
It works fine. Light notifications are turned off by default. I'm using light flow legacy
Thank you !
Just downloaded it and tried it...not impressed. The colors are a bit off. They were great on my S6, but it looks like the LED on the Pixel has some sort of filter or something over it and it dulls the colors.
Pixel has LED support by default. You don't need to use crazy hacks like lightflow to make it work.

You do if you want to actually customize it at all.
When I installed light flow. My gmail notifications sounds, lights and vibrate settings functioned as intended. I had many issues with getting full functionality with any of sms notifications. I contacted the developer about my sms notification issues and his replay with a work around works.
This can be used with any app, BUT YOU NEED TO FOLLOW EACH STEP FOR EACH CONTACT or Notification.
From the developer: 10.25.16
I'd recommend the following.
1. remove the contact specific notification you have set up and the standard text message notification.
2. get a text message from the contact you want specific notifications for and don't yet read it.
3. go into lightflow, notification settings and press "+" and select from all installed apps and select messenger.
4. Press "+" again and select from an outstanding notification and select the unread text message and select it and click add.
5. Find this notification and click on it (then press the pencil icon in the title to give it a meaningful name)
6. Enable the "notification person matches..." switch
7. Finally in notification settings click on the 3 lines with an arrow button at the top and drag the contact specific notification above the default messenger notification.
Messenger and be replaced with any app that you want notification from.

I said they have CONTROL of it.
So ditch the crappy gmail program and use k9mail instead.

Replacing apps with ones that support the control of custom LED notifications isn't a viable solution for most people. How would you replace the Phone app if you want custom notifications for missed calls and voicemails?
You don't seem to have any interest in helping the OP, so I am done here.

It certainly is viable, especially when doing so increases functionality.
And yes, you CAN replace the phone application. There are HUNDREDS of alternatives.
Do we have to use Legacy?
I am using the regular one, and it is not working for me.
Did you have to set any special config options? In the device settings page?
Edit: I realized hiding notifications for LightFlow in the settings app (to hide the persistent icon) disabled the LED, so switched to legacy.

already asked to honor support, there is no solution to disable them,
only oreo 8.1 has the option to disable them, otherwise they would have to add it...i doubt they will...
The only way is install the app: AutoNotification
->in the Notification Blocking menu,
->add a new voice with:
App: Android system
Filter Title: "displaying over other apps"
and remember to disable battery optimizations for AutoNotification

Thanks. Will try. On another note, Should i expect any future updates like security patches, or an 8.1 update for that matter, for honor 8? Just curious.

for what i know, i don't think they will update to 8.1, they would have already done so, avoiding the 8.0 version...
updates for this year 2018 surely, both bugfixes/improvements and security

actually, you can! it's just hidden between unaccessible menus.

I am having issues with my alarm after Oreo. It doesn't seem to activate while the phone is in deep sleep. Any fix for this? Already tried turning on the priority display in notification.

@ahadshah
Thank you for this hint!
I created an apk to open that hidden menu directly! :good::victory:
Anyone can now access it without installing nova launcher
OpenAppNotifications APK Download
This is the steps to disable notification "displaying over other Apps":
->Install and open: OpenAppNotifications
->Open upper options menu and select "Show system processes"
->Find and open "Android System"
->Turn OFF for each app "displaying over other Apps"
Screenshot of what it looks like when that happens? They aren't in a rush to get Oreo out in North America.
I have a problem after oreo update...while charging only 'charging' is pop up in lock screen instead of 'fast charging' & there is only one bolt symbol in battery icon instead of double bolt symbol...have u faced it?

Notification Peeking

Is there any easy way to bring back notification peeking settings on Android pie as I need to turn it off for some apps and not others but still get visual and audible feedback (no do not disturb mode). If anyone knows an app that can do this or if it is possible to directly port it from Oreo I'd appreciate it.

Notification peeking is the name for when you receive a notification and a pop-up drops down showing a preview of it. For example Snapchat "is typing" notification

I think your talking about heads-up notifications... in order to disable that on a per app basis.. just go to settings/applications and find the app you want it to stop for and choose notifications. Choose the specific notification category you want to stop and change the 'behavior' from 'make sound and pop on screen' to just 'make sound'. Hope that's what you were looking for!

Ok, mine is on intelligent control and it's fine. Are you saying that you never get any notification from Whatsapp at all? Or do the notifications come late?
If they come late, try changing from intelligent control to don't optimize.
If you don't get any at all, I suggest that you go into Whatsapp, backup in it's settings to google drive. Then go and clear data and cache for Whatsapp. Uninstall it. Reboot your phone. Go to the play store and install it again. Ask someone to send you message to test. Then restore your backup in Whatsapp.
Also turn off battery saver.

Nico... You haven't been warned about using gb whatsapp? I used it until 4 months ago when i received a warning that my account would be locked and canceled. Search for it, and you'll see.
Why whatsapp doesn't implement some of the gb settings, I don't know. A dark theme, for example.

I'm using Whatsapp mods since Whatsapp+ from Rafalense and i didn't get notifications like that, I'm currently on DeltaYowa(Base Fouad 8.12)
You will get banned if you use a mod with older Base or use some features like send more than 10 photos at once, send bigger files , and requesting many verification codes every day
