LG Developer Boot Loader unlock for the TIM (Itallian version of this phone) - LG G7 ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

The T-Mobile version of the LG G7 can legally have it's bootloader unlocked.
http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/IssueDeviceInfo.dev
I just though I'd put this here. This should open the door for TWRP recovery.
If you use the legal way to unlock your bootloader, you will not be able to use Google Pay or other payment systems. While these systems are convenient, the less places my money can be accessed, the better.
I want to get the LG G7 PLUS when I finally save up money as it has 128 GB internal storage. If I can help development in anyway, I will.

wrong section buddy

Well I actually tried yesterday when I found out, and after putting all the info of the phone the website gave me an error saying that the actual model of the T-Mobile variant is LMG710TMP...."P"... I was frustrated cuz the phone model in the settings is LMG710TM not LMG710TMP, Jesus..

Anybody tried it and get it to work?

@bigjohnman
Your assumption/information is totally wrong. LMG710TM means LG G7 for italian carrier TIM. It has nothing to do with T-mobile.

Well both this website, and my T-mobile phone "in settings > device model" says that it is the LMG710TM, I can confirm it but there is a problem with their unlocking website because when I try to unlock it gives an error.
https://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-LMG710TM-g7-thinq-tmobile

There's no problem with LG unlocking site at all. Your phone isn't eligible for unlocking because it isn't an European LGM710TM mentioned on dev site. For the list of supported devices see screenshot.
Your phone is LGM710TM variant for T-mobile US = LGM710TMP.
T-mobile site states clearly (s. screenshot) that their G7 has a model number LGM710TMP.
As simply as that.

I understand that , my point is that LG website where I go this phone from and also my phone itself say to be the 710TM model not TMP . which is weird and annoying after you were told it was a different model

Hmmm, sorry to get some T-Mobile users hopes up... Telecom Italia Mobile users, You're welcome, or "Prego" as they say in Italy.

May as well delete this thread.

That's really pity for T-mobile customers. So far I know all recent T-mobile phones have a locked bootloader with no possibility to official unlock them. It's T-mobile requirement to manufactures.
Anyway the thread title is misleading and has to be changed.

Well, that sucks! Can't wait to get rid of LG's horrendous version of Android and flash LineageOS.

I brought an LG G7 here in Australia at a bargain a couple of months back. It shows T-mobile during bootup. But the model number is LM-G710TM while the software version is G710TM10p and build OPR.170623.032. I am now worried if LG-G710TM is the Italian model, not T-mobile, I got some Frankenstein phone. It does not have the manufacturer warranty anymore, but a 1 year seller warranty.

Hello and welcome to XDA
The European/Global model number is LMG710EM, I live in Italy and own a G7 with such model number bought new.

Isn't there a way to load EM firmware on the T-mobile version? Would love to get rid of that startup logo anyway

Verizon Moto G Unlock Bootloader / Root?

Does anyone know if the Verizon version of the Moto G can be easily unlocked and rooted like the GSM version? Knowing Verizon's track record with locked down devices I wouldn't be surprised if it can't be unlocked. I'm thinking about buying one as a wifi/media device for my car, but I'd also like to play around with dev on it so a non-unlockable bootloader would be a deal breaker.

Just to be clear, *all* Moto Gs (GSM) ship with locked bootloaders, even if you buy one that is factory SIM-unlocked, but Motorola offers a way to unlock the bootloader on the phone (for free) via their web site after you register it and request an unlock code. In the U.S., doing so voids your hardware warranty.
So the question isn't whether or not the Verizon model will have a locked bootloader or not. It surely will, as they all do. The question is whether Motorola's on-line bootloader unlocker will work with Verizon-branded CDMA model or not. And at this point, given that it hasn't been released yet and nobody has one, how is anybody supposed to answer that question?

I was able to purchase one last night at my local Best Buy after proving to them that they were in fact somewhere in the store, and waiting for them to call their Verizon rep, I just attempted the bootloader unlock on the Motorola Developer (official bootloader unlock) and I can confirm that it is not eligible for unlock at this time. Huge letdown for me as I was gonna get one for myself soon, but the wife won't really care about it being unlocked so for her it's still a good deal.
I purchased the moto G today and it says it is not eligible for bootloader unlock.
I was able to get past the activation screen and not activate it.
Every time I turn the phone on it does ask for activation. Wish I could get rid of this...
Anybody have a way to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon version?
I am waiting for unlock and root for VZW version too before I get it
Moto-G bootloader...
I was fat and happy to buy a pair of these when they became available in my area, but not being able to unlock the bootloader, and also not able to obtain the code from Circle-M, has forced us to begin looking at other devices, and forget the 'G'.
Too bad, I was really looking forward to expanding its horizons, but not if the game is to maintain a lock on my own device, no thank you!

I believe you can't flash a Boost CDMA phone and use it on Verizon (and vice versa): CDMA phones don't have SIM card to identify carriers; instead the carriers keep a database of admissable IMEI. Boost IMEI obviously not on Verizon's database, in which case you are stuck.
(Feel free to correct me, but please hold your flame )

You have to activate it and get a phone number to get past that screen. You dont have to pay anything, just select "pay later" both time it asks you. It'll give you a number and then you can connect to wifi to do the rest of the steps.
Altering the setup app in any way thereafter reboots the phone, so you'll always have the activate app in your drawer. Thanks, Verizon.
Verizon is ONE BIG PILE Horse-Chit.. I hate that company with a passion...
So I moved my Family to T-Mo and bought 2 Nexus 5's and 2 Moto G's!
I will NEVER-EVER go back to Verizon... EVER!
They are the most archaic, backward and Xpensive carrier in North America
Pleas do yourself a favor and leave that - HORRIBLE effin COMPANY
P.S. I REPEAT - I will NEVER-EVER go back to Verizon... EVER

What is an att variant?

Hello. I'm new to XDA and have a question about ATT variants. I have a Moto G7 Power and am interested in rooting it, etc. Over at the Lineage OS 16.0 page it says "we can't support the Verizon and AT&T variants." I'm not sure what this means. I'm using Consumer Cellular for a service which uses the att network. So, am I using an att variant? If so, then it appears I'm SOL for using Lineage OS, but maybe there are possibilities I've yet to find. Thanks for reading this.
What's the full model number?
What is the software channel (settings—>about phone)?
Is it branded or purchased from a carrier?

Thanks for the reply, and sorry for the delay. The model number is XT1995-5 bought from Consumer Cellular. As for branded, I don't know. More, I have no idea if the phone is locked or not.
So you have the CC variant.
Not AT&T (Cricket) or Verizon.
Not sure about unlocking the bootloader. I don't recall anyone saying one way or the other. All you can do is try.

CC had a different software channel.
The phone is the same, supports all US carriers, just different software with different bundled apps.
But there are in Motorola's database based on that so CC determines whether the bootloader can be unlocked.
We know AT&T and Verizon block that on their devices (AT&T channel devices sold by Cricket).
But I doubt CC support will help. Just have to try it. Submit the code from the phone on Motorola's page and see what they say.

Help, Tmobile carrier lock, "invalid imei"

Hello,.
I bought a phone, 8t plus (tmobile version). when i try to check imei status it says invalid imei... it came with a deactivated sim card.
i tried paying three different unlock site services for the t-mobile unlock app. but they keep returning to me saying that they could not find the imei or its invalid.
I'm in a real pinch here, I love this phone, what are my options? is there some way to force unlock it with a different firmware or something like this? maybe you've got a clue why my imei doesn't show up anywhere?
many thanks
If it's bought from eBay, you're SOL - invalid IMEI is invalid IMEI. You will want to refund it and buy the virgin OnePlus 8T to ensure you don't run into problem.
It will be tough to remove the IMEI from the blacklist, as it's usually death sentence for that ID number, not to mention it's illegal to mess with it.
Especially for this reason, I don't buy used phone anymore unless it won't see network service (usually as a Linux hacking plaything), and I mainly buy new phones ever since to guarantee that I don't run into any problems.
Sent from my OnePlus 8T using Tapatalk
it doesnt give any error, through the tmobile unlock app it says "not eligible" which all unlock sites say that's what you want to get..
THEY say that they cant find the imei anywhere and that maybe I gave them invalid imei, but I'm sure I did not... this happened with more than 1 service site. any clues? i don't want to return it unless absolutely neccessary
Alright, double check your IMEI to ensure you don't make any mistake. There are three ways to check the IMEI, of course; 1. dial *#06#, browse into Settings, and go through "About phone", and 2. touch "Network Status" if the IMEI is not shown or 3. reboot your phone into Fastboot and scroll the UEFI Fastboot bootloader option down to "Show barcodes". It's easy to make mistakes with long numbers like IMEI - had to triple check mine before submitting the application for the bootloader unlock token.

I checked, the imei i gave them was the correct one, I wish that was the problem. how can an imei be invalid (not blocked/blacklisted)?isn't there any way to flash something on the phone to sim ulock it? thanks
even services that CHECK if its blacklisted doesnt work with phones IMEI. what is going on here?! thanks
This phone is not blocked—it’s ready to use on the T-Mobile network.
Device Name Not Available

that's what the unlock service site sent me, they said that is the reply they received..
Alright, if you have Straight Talk or maybe a T-Mobile SIM, test it to make sure it's alive.

You have to have it so long before T-Mo will unlock the device.
Three days minimum if I recall. I had mine unlocked in a week after the purchase, and only have unlocked its UEFI bootloader a few days ago once the LineageOS 18 ROM matured just enough for my liking. Otherwise it's a 40 days wait.

I have found a rather expensive service provider that has full confidence that he can unlock my phone. Will update you further when I have more details.

Then use it on TMobile for minimum 3days then unlock it via tforce on facebook or twitter T-Mobile help. But this requires you to have TMobile service. That's the only way you will unlock that phone those unlocking site aren't connected to get the 8t from T-Mobile unlocked that's mainly for samsung devices trust me I run a repair shop and use the unlocking sites. If you can't get TMobile service then you best bet is to return the device if you can't return your SOL until a simunlock bypass come
I'm not from the USA . Anyone got suggestion how to get it activated ? Thanks
Hey friends!
i've promised to update as it unfolds, day before I was supposed to return phone I got it unlocked by a vendor claiming he is working with T-Mobile directly or something like this, and said he can do it although not cheaply.
That guy had a handful of troubles to deal with me as I put him on a timeline, and not only that, bombarded him with conflicting messages before I decided to actually use his service. he was extremely polite and understanding.
may I recommend an ebay vendor here? if yes I will put a link to his store.

Sounds like you purposely bought a phone that was either lost or stolen in the US and was sold to an overseas buyer because the blacklist on devices from US and Canadian carriers does not extend outside of the US and Canada.

Any way to carrier unlock the Sprint version?

Hello all,
I'm looking to buy a V50 on eBay since it looks like we're getting some good development here, but I am unsure if I should buy one that specifically states it's carrier unlocked or just the Sprint version. Is there a way to carrier unlock this phone?
Thanks in advance.

On ebay, there are a few sellers that selling Sprint unlocked V50.
Mine is from one of them, unlocked, seemed to be all new,as the seller advertised it as new, open box.
It came with original box and all the original stuff inside.
The box was not sealed of course, because as he stated, these boxes were opened in order to carrier unlock them.
After more than 6 months, mine is working without any issue, just without the ability to connect to 5g because i live in Europe, and Sprint's firmware support different 5g bands.
If you want pm me and i can give you the name of the seller i bought mine from.
Also i forgot to mention, that despite the fact that there is the Sprint firmware, you can get every single update from LG.
I bought it with android 9,and right away after i set it up,it started downloading all the follow updates and android 10 of course.

Question App says unlocked, phone stays locked

Had a hell of a time speaking with T-Mobile representatives these last couple of days. Everyone has a different opinion on what I need to do to unlock my S22 Ultra. Just today a guy recommended I download the T-Mobile Device Unlock app off the Play store and it said the following:
"Your device is currently permantently unlocked and allowed to be used with any carrier. Restart your device to apply these changes if your device was previously locked." Yet I do that and it remains locked.
Anyone else had this experience? Not sure what I can do short of returning it.

If you're talking about OEM Unlocking, that is completely separate from carrier lock, and there's little the carrier can do about it.
The device is networked locked to T-Mobile.

No, I'm not. There was apparently someone before me. The phone is paid off and I do believe there isn't any custom firmware on it and I went through a series of updates since getting the phone.
If this indeed is a T-Mobile phone, you shouldn't need the T-Mobile unlock app. Just look around in Settings > Connections & look around for SIM unlock, network unlock or something along those lines (I'm running US unlocked firmware XAA, so, I don't have the unlock in my settings, otherwise, I'd be able to give you the exact terminology).
Anyway, once you've found it, you should be able to check for the SIM Unlock. If it says you're unlocked & you're still having issues, I'd call customer service.

I know that. I've been on the phone with them for over two hours already. I asked them to put in a request to unlock it given the previous owner's contract and filed a complaint with the FCC. The phone SHOULD be eligibile for unlocking but the carrier is just being stubborn.
The "T" in Mobile stands for "Trouble"

No, I'm not. There was apparently someone before me. The phone is paid off and I do believe there isn't any custom firmware on it and I went through a series of updates since getting the phone.
