Improve headphone jack? - OnePlus 6 Accessories

Hi!
I find that the original port jack delivers a sound of poor quality. The power of output is very low.
My question is: Do you think that using the USB type C port with an adaptator could improve the sound quality in my headphones?
Thank you

Buy a external dac or LG product

Did you try the v4a module in magisk with the profile given in this section of xda?

I was wondering if using an extarnal DAC (adaptator usb C to jack) could improve the quality
What is V4a module? is it necessary to be rooted?

Yea, magisk/root is needed for the viper4android module to get the sound tweaks. I dont know what type of headset you got but it its bluetooth then make sure its APT X supported to get the best sound out of the non rooted phone.
These usb c to 3.5 with biuld in DAC are nice but you need to have a premium headset to enjoy from those.... these adapters are like 15 bucks and can do 16 and 24bit output.

I really want to improve the quality on the headphone jack.
Do you think that if I use an adaptator on the usb C port it will work?

yup ofcourse it will and it will be the same as the pixel 2 dongle. Just make sure you buy the correct one with a high res DAC in the cable and not these 2 dollar cheap one's that only convert digital to analog.

You will need a dongle that has a decent amplifier in order to get louder sound than stock without crazy distortion. Decent amplifiers are not cheap. Finding a dongle with a good dac/amp combo is probably the best way to accomplish this

Stick in something into the headphone jack, go to settings, audio and vibration, audio tuner
Play around till it fits your taste.

Inside the JBL motomod

Has anyone taken this thing apart? I cannot really find a lot of information on it online.
I am curious to know if it has its own dac/amp to run the speakers and what the connectors are made of.
If it does have a dac/amp is there a way to wire a 3.5mm headphone jack to it...or make the usb c port use the dac and amp to push headphones.
Please do not get into a debate trying to sell me on bluetooth headphones I have no desire to use a bluetooth adapter with a record player, and don't even like wireless gaming headsets, I prefer my audio wired...part of why I love this mod, not too many wired speakers as convenient and as portable as this one.

Back cover is a sticker. Its pretty compact inside. Can you add a jack to it? Yes. Will it look good? No. If you have to ask if it can be done its going to be to large of a project for you.

Amp yes. DAC not sure never looked at the ic's close. I would Assume there is one to to do the digital to analog conversion.
Personally i would just make a mod. Order the parts have a case 3d printed. Making the mod is pretty simple. Few ways you can do it through a mod. If you do this you can set up something nice made for headphones. Adjust the gain from that so you can use higher impedance speakers.
Lenovo is going to announce more mods soon. I bet one of them will be a hi-fi mod. I would just wait for that.
I am hoping for something from ifa, but still want to keep my options open since I refuse to buy a walkman for close to a grand...although replacing speakers with a headphone jack seems a little easier to me than building a mod from scratch

If you do that then just use the USB c conversation. That moto mod is not going to be set up for the impedance of some headphones. So the amazing audio quality you think you will be getting will not be there.
Stock JBL speakers are I think 3 ohms. My high-end headphones are around 70-200. It just won't have the power needed to drive high end headphones to the upper levels
Can the connection pins for the mods duplicate a usb otg connection?
What Im thinking is making something of a case for the drangonfly red dac/amp should have room in there for a small battery pack as well...for the dac not the phone.

Gonna need a dev kit if you wanna go through the moto mod and not a USB OTG.
Moto mod will give you USB 3.1 host and slave 2.0 host.
MuC is basically the brain for a Moto mod.
The moto mod it's self is not hard to make. You can get a dev kit. Plug into the USB type c on it and call it a day. Or build something.

The dev kit has a usb port on it? Is there a forum dedicated to mod developing?

Can V4A control the 3.5mm adapter?

So it looks like the bundled 3.5mm adapter is not as good as the 10 not M9, it will need the help of V4A or Arise, though given it's a USB C port, can you use V4A with this adapter??
Yes you can. I use it this way before I get my Bluetooth headphones.
Cool! Can you improve the 3.5mm output with it?
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Yes, v4a will detect your headphones on the headphones profile, just like it normally does.

Moto G6 Better (WOW) Sound (found by mistake)

Hi. The audio is okay on the phone. Good with earphones but okay when I use the headphone jack to my car stereo input. Why not bluetooth? Its because direct connect provides the best sound. NOW HEAR THIS. I plugged in my essential phones usb head jack adapter (essential phone has no headphone jack but they do provide a USB C headphone jack dongle) and its like a WOW. I couldn't believe how much the quality of the audio improved. I am talking about tremendous improvement. Like a different phone WOW. Now whether it was due to essential having a dac chip in the dongle (I think it does) I have no clue. I was shocked because normally the question would be why does a dac chip USB C headphone cable work on a phone with a headphone jack? Did Moto decide at the last design phase was to include a built in jack? The dac cables only supposed to work on phone like the essential or the google pixel 2 etc if I am correct.. Well i am da.... sure glad it works on the Moto G6. How you proceed with what you get/prefer to purchase is up to you. I don't know what the end result will be because I truly don't know. The one I have from essential worked miracle wonders. I only suspect it will work with other USB C dongles with a dac chip. Man, i am digging this phones audio improvement. I am like WOW.
Check it out with something like Viper installed and disable Dolby for a little while to see if that also improves the sound. I use an aux cord to play music in my car as well the Viper HiFi Magisk module on top of tweaking some of my head unit settings, and it puts out some of the best sound for music. Can get my old 2004 Carolla to sound like it has a 10-11" sub in it just from the stock stereos and a Pioneer head unit ;p
Not really that big of a surprise, considering that my old Moto E4 would use a pair of USB-A headphones plugged into a OTG adapter. Feel free to call me out, but isn't the USB-C headphone dongle just getting talked to by the phone like a USB sound card?
Most newer (and some older) phones are all capable of USB audio routing. Just take a look in developer options to see some settings.

USB DAC/Soundcard

My J5's 3.5mm jack is broken.
Can I utilize the USB port as an alternative for Audio output with the help of any USB Soundcard/DACs?

Tried some USB audio hardware with OTG and they work, although very low volume and when you want cheap option, it's a lottery to get a stereo one, as it tend to get mono output the time it gets lower volume. Consumes more battery too than using Bluetooth.
Better to get Bluetooth modules like from KZ's or TRN's and mod the module yourself. Or get a universal 3.5mm Bluetooth module.
I have mod my BT earphones and converted it to universal module that can power with 3 AA batteries years ago when I still have my J500H with broken jack.
Take note that both BT and USB will make FM never work if you still listen to FM.

audio quality

Hye guys, I'd like to ask. How's audio quality with a type c earphones? Or how's audio when connected to an adaptor? I have a few iems and i'd like to know more about the audio quality through the usb port before upgrading. Thanks!

I used both, I think it depends more on the earphones than just the type of connection. I'll advice more a Type C one because adapters are a mess, you have two thing in your pocket and it's really uncomfortable. Is use the OnePlus Type C earphone and I can say it's great !
