[rom][treble]phh aosp 8.1[lm-g710em] - LG G7 ThinQ ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other De

HI Guys , its me again so after a long working night of disabling encryptions and verifications i finaly was able to boot a AOSP Generic System Image on my LG G7 (EUROPEAN VARIANT ONLY) and now im here to show you how to install
How to install ?
Download the GSI from PHH AOSP thread , take a/b ones with ot without gapps as you like
Download my SecuretyOff-Vendor-image and my Permissive boot.img
Reboot to fastboot and unlock your bootloader if you havent done it yet (you can find tutorials online, same method as on g6 and previous)
flash the magisk enabled securetyoff permissive kernel with the command "fastboot flash boot_a pathtoimghere"
Reboot your G7 to LG Stock os and install magisk manager and TerminalEmulator from PlayStore
Now copy the Downloaded Vendor file to your internal sdcard and rename it to vendor.img
Open TerminalEmulator (adb shell works aswell) and type su, hit enter, then type "dd if=/sdcard/vendor.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/vendor_a" , hit enter m this will take some time pls be patient
Once youre done with flashing the new vendor reboot to fastboot again and flash the GSI with the following command "fastboot flash system_a pathtoimghere"
One last step before you can enjoy AOSP type "fastboot -w" and then "fastboot reboot"
Whats Working ?
So for me everyting works so far i just noticed 2 small bugs till now
1. the Notification LED wont stop blinking (im on that already)
2.sometimes the display turns black for about 0,5secs
3. if your headphone jack doesn't work open up a root shell and enter "setprop persist.sys.overlay.devinputjack true"

Update , Ressurection Remix Gsi and LineageOS Gsi work too , also i was able to fix the blinking led , but it doesnt work at all anymore (lights hal doesnt load will investiagte tomorrow) but RR or Los doesnt have gapps packed with them so you will need to wait for twrp to be ready (i think i will finish it in next few days)

Amazing work friend

What about the rom with the DAC? I can change this in the settings of the sound more precise. So not like the lg rom, the preset sound profiles?

Look forward to this! Many thanks +++

what about the dac? sound does not work over jack connection.

Hi.
Does the wide camera work with this rom?
And does the radio fm work?
Where can I find the last release?
Thanks.

wide angle works on aosp rom , fm radio idk but try , you can find the latest release in treble enabled device section of xda

Any word on AOSP 9? As far as I know it requires vndk 8.1 but the g7 launched with Android 8. Do we have to wait for Android 8.1/9 from LG for AOSP 9?

https://highonandroid.com/android-r...oject-treble-unlocked-bootloader-twrp-method/
I saw a video on youtube by max lee i do believe he said you could install this as long as you had twrp recover
I have the sprint verison so i cant try but if anyone with twrp can try and comment

Doesn't really matter

so the headphone jack is now fixed open up a root shell and type setprop persist.sys.overlay.devinputjack true then reboot and it will work

I've checked kallsyms, how did you get it? via terminal app, or adb (or even twrp maybe if it's possible on g7)? The prob is that functions addresses are zeros, that's not good.

[RECOVERY]TWRP 3.1.0.0 - FIsH for FLEX 2

TWRP 3.1.0.0 with FIsH for our FLEX 2
Tested on h955 and it's still a BETA
Requirements
Here are the pre-requirements you have to met!
If you can't get them: Close this page and FORGET it (until the day you met those reqs)!
Here are the 2 simple requirements you have to met:
1. root by SuperSU >=v2.76 (greater or equal v2.76)
--> to test this requirement just start the installer of FIsH with --check (see next lines) which will check for all requirements and abort if its not possible
--> for many devices - if not all - this means you HAVE TO downgrade/install LL. It also means that you have to upgrade your SuperSU to this version by e.g. FlashFire if you have a lower version installed!
--> SU by phh is NOT supported => It needs a modified /boot and this would void the boot signing chain!
--> Magisk is NOT supported => It needs a modified /boot and this would void the boot signing chain!
--> I will NOT provide downgrading guides there are plenty of them so search and read.
--> I will NOT provide any guides in rooting your device
--> Before you think about downgrading to LL read about ANTI-ROLLBACK protection some devices and may have! Anti-Rollback means you CAN NOT downgrade - it would HARD-BRICK your device (wtf thinking the vendors who we are?? Is this even legal?!)! Check that before!!
2. you have to be able to disable SELinux in your booted Android
--> You do NOT need to set SELinux permanently to permissive. Just CHECK if you COULD get it MANUALLY. If you can get it OK. If not.. you obviously have not full root access but check the forums maybe there is something you can do about this.
--> I will NOT provide any guides enabling SELinux but some lines later you will see how u can execute the very simple check
--> to test this requirement just start the installer of FIsH with --check (see next lines) which will check for all requirements and abort if its not possible
Those above are hard facts so it may NEVER work with MM. Google has changed the way on how the boot chain will be verified and that means changes in /system will void it from now on.
If MM can get fully rooted somehow/somewhen on your device with SuperSU installed and you are able to disable SELinux the method will work there as well.
If you can not meet ALL of the above 2 requirements lay down and cry.
For the others: calm down and read on!
You can simply test those both requirements by downloading the FIsH package and execute the installer with the following test parameter:
./install.sh --check
This way nothing get installed but you will see if it would work on your device or not.
Limitations!
Keep in mind what I said above: FIsH does NOT unlock your bootloader!
That means with TWRP-in-FIsH you can NOT:
Install a custom ROM like CM/Lineage (this will modify boot = SOFT-BRICK)
Install a custom Kernel (this will modify boot = SOFT-BRICK)
Install a custom recovery (this will modify recovery = may SOFT-BRICK)
In short: do nothing which modifies boot or recovery partitions. Those changes will BREAK your boot signing chain.
You can of course flash everything which is modifying /system /data only (e.g. xposed, Audio mods, etc...)
You're able to backup and restore as well of course and doing any other modifications which you may can't while the Android system is running.
Download
READ THE REQUIREMENTS above before proceeding!
Then UNDERSTAND the requirements before proceeding! <-- omg this is crucial important!!!! Ensure that you really do not skip this step!
READ THE LIMITATIONS above before proceeding!
Then UNDERSTAND the limitations before proceeding! <-- omg this is crucial important!!!! Ensure that you really do not skip this step!
... and NEVER ask for ETA's!
if you can say:
Yes! I have read and totally understood the limitations AND the requirements!
then proceed. Otherwise read again until you got it.
Keep in mind that this is a HACK. It may soft-brick your device. you have been warned!
The concept is the same for all models but again no guarantees here for anything.
There is ALWAYS a risk and you should better backup what you do not want to loose before starting downloading this.
Download
Installation (Linux)
You can just install any newer version over an old one.
boot Android and connect USB cable
download the newest version to your PC and open a terminal in that directory
tar xzf TWRP-in-FIsH*.tgz
cd android_FIsH
./install.sh
check the output of that script. you should not see any errors there (hopefully)
Installation (Windows)
use FWUL or be patient.. maybe i or someone else release an installer... maybe...
First run (no PC required)
This FIsH gets installed PERMANENTLY! That means:
You can boot up TWRP the same way as described here again without re-installing.
If you re-install your STOCK image you have to re-install TWRPinFIsH as well.
reboot Android
you should now see: LED goes from blue to GREEN
NOW directly when u see this GREEN LED press VOLUME DOWN and do NOT release
wait until the device vibrates and the LED changed to RED. Then release the Volume Down button.
Wait until FIsH completed and TWRP should be shown --> This means FIsH has done it's job well!
This is a good time to do a full backup isn't it ? Manually mount the SYSTEM partition as it gets not auto mounted atm and do a full backup
reboot from here (safely ignore the msg "no OS installed" and reboot anyways) and you should see Android booting (hopefully ... if not see bottom)
Daily Usage (no PC required)
reboot Android
you should now see: LED goes from blue to GREEN
NOW directly when u see this GREEN LED press VOLUME DOWN and do NOT release
wait until the device vibrates and the LED changed to RED. Then release the Volume Down button.
Wait until FIsH completed and TWRP should be shown --> This means FIsH is doing it's job still very well
AGAIN: keep your mind up! You HAVE to ensure that whatever you do and whatever you flash -> NEVER TOUCH BOOT/RECOVERY! If you flash a ZIP ensure first that it do not modify them! Otherwise you WILL softbrick. You have been warned (several times now)
Trouble / Bootloop fix
if you encounter a bootloop (should never happen but who knows) you have 3 choices at least:
Option 1a: (TWRP-Bootloop) Within TWRP open Advanced -> File Manager -> Goto: /system/su.d and click "select" button -> Delete
Option 1b: (TWRP-Bootloop) From your PC: adb shell rm -rf /system/su.d/
Important: Catch the fish log (see next topic)
Option 2 (this works also for a bootloop without twrp): boot into download mode and use LGLaf to get a shell
then:
setenforce 0 <-- if that doesn't work you may have to do a FULL restore to stock
mount -oremount,rw /system
rm -rf /system/su.d/
reboot. You are out of the bootloop.
Important: Catch the fish log (see next topic)
Option 3: Last resort: Reflash STOCK. sorry.. there is always a risk..
Catch the FIsH logs
when in TWRP (or other ramdisk providing adb shell):
adb shell "cat /cache/fish/fish.log"
adb shell "cat /tmp/recovery.log"
OR - when in Android:
adb shell "su -c cat /cache/fish/fish.log"
adb shell "su -c cat /cache/fish/fish.log.old"
adb shell "su -c tar cvzf recoverylogs.tgz /cache/recovery"
adb pull recoverylogs.tgz
Upload the output to https://paste.omnirom.org and paste the link in the IRC channel (see next topic)
Support / IRC Channel
IRC means Internet Relay Chat and you will get best support here only.
Choose how to get in:
PC (HexChat and Pidgin are only 2 of them! This list is not complete!)
Android (Yaaic, AndChat, HoloIRC, AndroIRC are only a few of them! This list is not complete!)
Web (KiwiIRC-Web,FreenodeWebchat])
When you have to choose a channel it is: #Carbon-user
When you will be asked for a server network choose: freenode
Known issues (may never get fixed)
Due to the fact that FIsH is a BRUTAL hijack of the booting process several things may not work as expected.
This will normally not harm anything but you have to know about.
ZIP / ROM flashing:
omg really you wanna hear that again? OK: DON'T TOUCH BOOT / RECOVERY. And you be safe.
When you try to install a ROM it will modify at least BOOT. That means soft-brick!
When you try to install a custom Kernel.. omg really? It will definitively SOFT-BRICK! Maybe you should read the limitations again??
When you try to install a ZIP like xposed, supersu, Vipermod and others ensure that those are not modifying BOOT or RECOVERY partitions. For those mentioned it would be very unlikely but who knows.
FIRMWARE partition:
cannot be mounted - even not manually. You have to live with it.
Double Tap to wakeup (in TWRP):
Unfortunately this cannot work in TWRP-in-FIsH due to the nature of this hijack. You have to live with it.
Credits (without them - no FIsH!!!)
If you feel that someone / you is missing on this list lemme know!

SteadfasterX is developing some stuff... so maybe on day we will have a possibility to use full custom roms.
But for now we have a custom recovery
If someone is willing to cook something interesting that can work with not touching the boot or recovery partitions... then well I would call it a custom rom
In theory it should work on a H950PR? So I can at least test it

How to install GSI ROMs and pass SafetyNet on them

For those who use any official MIUI release (be it Global or Chinese, Stable or Dev):
Download your GSI of preference from Treble-compatible Devices Development section of XDA to your PC. Make sure you download an ARM64 A-only version.
In TWRP on your phone, hit Wipe and then Format Data and confirm it with typing „yes”
Connect your phone in fastboot mode to your PC
Open the command prompt in the folder where your fastboot.exe is located
Type: fastboot flash system path_to_your_GSI.img (Tip: you can also type fastboot flash system and drag and drop it on the command prompt window)
Type: fastboot reboot
The device should reboot to your freshly installed GSI.
For those who use xiaomi.eu ROM: (YMMV, it worked for me so I put it here, see below if it doesn't work for you)
Download your GSI of preference from Treble-compatible Devices Development section of XDA to your PC. Make sure you download an ARM64 A-only version.
Download vendor.img from here to your PC. You can also use any official vendor.img provided in official Xiaomi fastboot firmware packages if you know what you’re doing.
Type: fastboot flash vendor path_to_your_vendor.img (you can drag and drop as well)
Type: fastboot reboot
Alternate, easier (and preferred) way:
Download and flash any official MIUI release like this one here
Follow instructions for official MIUI releases above
The device should reboot to your freshly installed GSI.
How to pass SafetyNet on GSI:
Download the latest Magisk 16.6 and flash it through TWRP
Reboot
In Magisk Manager app, open the side menu and tap Download
Download MagiskHide Props Config, install it and reboot
After reboot, go to Setting and Developer Options and enable Terminal app, right under ADB debugging option
A Terminal app should appear in your apps list. If not, you can also use any terminal emulator app from Play Store
Type „su”, hit enter and grant root permissions
Type „props” and hit enter
Type „1”, hit enter
Type „f”, hit enter
Type „11”, hit enter
Type „7”, hit enter
Type „y”, hit enter
Type „y”, hit enter and your device will reboot
If you care about auto-brightness (which i bet you do), you can also set the module manually to Mi MIX 2S fingerprint:
Follow steps 1-9 from above
Type:
Code:
Xiaomi/polaris/polaris:8.0.0/OPR1.170623.032/V9.5.19.0.ODGMIFA:user/release-keys
and hit enter (thanks @cnrd for the tip!)
Type "y", hit enter
Type "y", hit enter and your device will reboot
After booting successfully, your device will pass SafetyNet, you can check it in Magisk Manager. Tested on my Chinese (XE model) device with the latest Resurrection Remix official GSI, Google Pay is working fine.
Using the Mi 6 ctsProfile kills the background light (at least on phh-treble), use the Mi Mix 2S profile instead:
Code:
Xiaomi/polaris/polaris:8.0.0/OPR1.170623.032/V9.5.19.0.ODGMIFA:user/release-keys

Added, thanks!
Great tutorial, thank you very much!
Has anyone tried this with the latest pixel experience gsi? Resurrection Remix is running fine but pixel experience always reboots to the fastboot screen.
I used the instructions from the pixel experience thread, but without success. I read the whole thread again and again and did it step by step as mentioned to be sure not to miss any important steps. Not luck.
Can you try it with the Mix2S and confirm that it works and how you it?
Don't want to capture this thread. I'm just desperately trying to get this done to boot.
Best regards
Kleinholzinferno
Thanks for the explain.
Is the OP using this method on a different device? I don't recall seeing any ROMs for the Mix 2S.

OP is using a Treble ROM. If you go to the Treble section of XDA, there's a bunch of ROMs that will work for the 2s. Instead of flashing a device specific zip file you can flash a generic image file that will work on any phone that supports treble, like the Mi Mix 2s.
This guide walks you through flashing those images, and getting Magisk to work on the 2s.

Thanks, although I had upgraded the Beta to 8.7.10, so probably won't be flashing anything until a workaround comes along. I'm waiting for someone to confirm if it's only for Redmi Note 5.
Thank you for the tutorial, maybe you could add the fact that you have to use the fastboot.exe from miflash.
I´ve used the Minimal ADB and Fastboot Files but they make write Errors and the Rom won´t boot.
Hope I could try this method on my Mi 6X, will report back once I can unlock my Bootloader.

You can check it if you reboot to Fastboot and see if "fastboot getvar anti" returns anything. If it does, your device has anti-rollback protection enabled.
As far as I know, anti-rollback is enabled on MIX 2S from 8.7.16 onwards, so you should be safe.

If your device is Treble-compatible, it should work with no problems, however keep in mind that should you run into any issues when using the provided fingerprint, you have to look up some from a stable MIUI for your device.

Yeah, when I run "fastboot getvar anti" I get invalid variable. Which leads me to believe that I don't have any issues at the moment. I won't upgrade from 12, but I'd like to move to Treble at some point.
EDIT: Just checked the "flash_all.bat" file within the 8.7.12 file and saw the following
::set CURRENT_ANTI_VER=1
::for /f "tokens=2 delims=: " %%i in ('fastboot %* getvar anti 2^>^&1 ^| findstr /r /c:"anti:"') do (set version=%%i)

Looks like 8.7.12 for Mi Mix 2S is not screwed.
Hello fellow gsi users. I'm new to this props editing thing and wanted to ask two questions for noobs.
If I follow the terminal commands in the OP the device fingerprint shows Xiaomi Mi 6 8.0.0 right? Is this right to use for the MiMix2S? I think so otherwise it wouldn't be mentioned to use.
And i don't understand the command for the auto brightness. What exactly does this do? Enable the automatic brightness settings from the original rom?
Need advice please. Maybe there's a thread that I haven't found yet that explains this topic. I'm eager to get more information but all I found was too general and not the answers I was looking for.

Basically, setting your fingerprint to Mi6 8.0 fools Google's checks of your installed system's certification, telling them that you are currently running a certified and tested Mi6 firmware. Every firmware has to follow Google's standards and rules for it to be able to fully use Google Services.
Now, I've included Mi6 fingerprint in my guide because it's readily available in MagiskHide Props, thus making it easier to set everything up to a workable state. However, as one user mentioned, if you use Mi6 fingerprint on MIX 2S, it breaks autobrightness. So, in order to be fully certified and keep autobrightness working, you can manually enter a fingerprint provided in the first post, which comes from MIX 2S 8.0 firmware. The only downside is that you have to be careful not to make any mistake when typing, so it's a little bit harder.
If you can live without autobrightness (since, as of now, it's terribly slow), feel free to use the Mi6 preset fingerprint. If you care or if you want to do things as they should be done, go for the manual route. Both of them will make your device Google certified and both of them will allow you to pass SafetyNet checks.
I may generalized some things or not mention them due to my lack of knowledge. If anybody would like to correct something, please do so
P.S. I may completely delete the preset fingerprint guide, as I don't think it's that hard to enter the proper fingerprint manually and it would definitely make things clearer.
Thank you very much for this information, makes everything much clearer for me.
Regarding auto brightness: I don't mind if it works for now, I can live with the manual settings. Better than a laggy auto settings thingy that doesn't worm properly.
The only thing that bothers me is that the screen is much too bright at night (or with night light activated) even in the lowest setting. Is there any possibility to change the minimum value?
Could you explain how to enter the proper fingerprint manually?
Best regards
Edit: nevermind the last question, I found it. In the newer version there's an entry for the mi mix 2s. Xiaomi devices are now listed under number 12, not 11 and the mi mix 2s is listed as own device. Works perfectly fine! Safety net passed, all green now!

FAQ
Here you will find some answers to common question which could arise.
Q: How to give root access to an app or adb?
A: First install the su extra package from Lineage OS or any other su tool you like. Then go into settings and about device, click there multiple times on the build number until you unlocked the developer options. Go to developer options and look for root access.
Q: I thing I found an issue, what to do now?
A: Do a logcat or grab a dmesg while having the issue, otherwise we can't say what is happening. Report as much info as possible. Quote your stock rom your device shipped with or which device variant you possess.

Hello Kurt,
please, if you find the time to do another test. Download the attached zip extract the boot.img and copy it to your device, flash it with twrp right after installing the lineage zip through twrp. report back if something different happens.
I splited the dtb from the zImage and attached the almost stock eu dtb, so maybe we are lucky. But I have not find any big differences in analyzing the dts of EU vs AS and kernel defconfigs EU vs AS.
I can show this files too, if somebody has a better understanding of this.

Hi!
Well, i loaded the def's and config's into WinMerge and did a compare ... in the def's there are some different addresses, but i have now clue what the meaning of that all is . The config files look like beeing from different kernel versions, there are some options which don't exist in both, one is modularised, the other is not ... all in all quite strange.
Ok, i made a try with the boot_eu.img:
- Made a factory reset
- Flashed the LOS.zip
- Wiped caches
- unzipped the boot.img
- copied it to boot partition with dd if=boot_eu.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot
- reboot
... screen goes black, one buzz .... nothing. One the PC the fastboot device appears and that's it. I was looking for tombstones, but couldn't find any ... they are stored to /data/tombstones, are they? I'm not sure, the kernel i getting up high enough to mount /data.
Cheers
Kurt
P.S.: one thing i forgot to mention ... i coulnd't find the "OEM unlock" swich in the stock system anywhere and the bootloader seems to be quite dumb, many commands from fastboot just end in a "command unknown", perhaps there's something left to do on my side (tweak in build.prop etc ... googleed for it no result ).

Thanks for testing. You used the reboot system button of twrp I guess. Have you tried to reboot by pressing the power button?
I can think of two things: There is some flag in the kernel source which is called download_mode. I have seen that some devices have different default values! At the moment the value is 0, devices like the ones from bq with msm8916/msm8939 used this too, but devices from oppo with msm8939 uses a value of 1 as default. We can try this one.
Or there is a mask, which defines the restart reason so to speak says the device which mode to boot to. Here we have some differences in the meaning of the bits, a different bit shifting is used.
I can not really think that one of these causes your device to boot into download mode, because the recovery uses the same kernel on both region variants...

I'll give that one a try .

Ok, tried it ... same result. Then did a (perhaps a bit wired) test, just restored boot from my nandroid-backup. With this, the white ZTE bootscreen comes up and after some seconds it reboots to twrp.
Perhaps the dumb-bootloader refuses to boot with AS keys ... otherwise it wouldn't boot recovery. Strange puzzle.
Cheers

It is okay to do some unusual testings. I was doing this sort of things also, back then.
I'm not sure I get you, when you write about AS keys. Do you mean the fingerprint in the build.prop? I think I used the ones from the eu version. Maybe they build in some kind of kernel version check inside the bootloader, but only for the eu and other versions.
The cause is, that android needs an advanced kernel, so we can not use the stock kernel to boot newer android version like nougat, oreo or pie.
Sorry, I can not be of much help here, because I do not have a device with eu or some other region version. But we can try do some changes, if you like to do some more testing and maybe get something like a log, last_kmseg or ramoops. We should look to activate some of them.
Hello @Kurt Krummbein,
if you find the time please post the info you get by issuing this commands in the adb shell or on your phone in a terminal:
Code:
su
cat /sys/zte_board_id/board_id
cat /proc/device-tree/model
cat /proc/device-tree/compatible
Do this on your rom or stock rom you are using a the moment. Thank you.
For reference mine output is this:
Code:
Blade-S6:/ # cat /sys/zte_board_id/board_id
wrbA
Blade-S6:/ # cat /proc/device-tree/model
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. MSM 8939 MTP
Blade-S6:/ # cat /proc/device-tree/compatible
qcom,msm8939-mtp qcom,msm8939 qcom,mtp
It could be that the eu variant uses another device tree inside the kernel, because the bootloader request that, but we have only this model available.

Fantastic! Here we have an explanation. Your device reports 268 as id which equals to msm8929 and I have a device with id 239 which is msm8939. The kernel only holds a device tree blob (dtb) for the id 239. I thought that the variant were very similar, so last time I used a dtb from the eu release but only for id 239. Attached I have added a dtb for id 268. Please test this rom with that boot image.
Again, just unpack the bootASEU.img and copy it to your device, flash it after installing the lineageos zip.
Please make a backup beforehand and report back, when you have time. Happy trying out.

One step ahead ! Phone is booting with the new boot.img ... but ends with a bootloop.
Highest was one boot with start of the setup-wizard, but after setting language to "Deutsch (Deutschland)" (and several "Bluetooth is not working" messages) it went around again. Couldn't get logs yet ... well see :

Yeah! Would be best to build the dtb from source, rather than attaching just the right one to the kernel...
The bluetooth message can be made silent, by the way what build you are using? I think the first build has not the fix for the message. The build.prop should contain this line:
Code:
ro.boot.btmacaddr=00:00:00:00:00:00
and the message should not appear.
I hope there are not any preferences with could only be applied to msm8939 and not to msm8929.
@Kurt Krummbein
Here is my latest build or just grab the boot.img from the attachment. Which has a dtb for msm8929 build from source.
Maybe this will boot without any bootloop.

I've flashed stock Android 9 using SP Flash Tool, is that what you're talking about when you say 'MTK Tools'?
Step #3 - My PC doesn't recognize my device. (see #2 below)
A few other questions:
1) What build number are you coming from? I'm on OUKITEL_K9_V21_20190524
From what I've read there was some sort of 'lock' put in place at around that time so that only certain firmware could be flashed.
2) Fastboot? on a MTK device? I thought that was impossible too, even though it canbe put in to Fastboot mode by holding Vol+&PWR. I'm new to MTK devices so am very much a newb.
3) The link you provided correct? It takes me to the page for Android 11 GSI's, but the video shows Android 10
4) At bottom you have generic GSI linked—which one to flash, the one linked at top or bottom?
Also, perhaps worth mentioning, I've successfully temporary-rooted using this method from @diplomatic

Thanks again

The Trebel test app stated the my Oukitel k9 was A only I found out it is A/B this rom works.
Also after flashing Lineage 17 there is not enough space for Gapps. Solution after flash reboot recovery again go to wipe select system select repair then adjust size of partition. Then reboot to recovery again then flash Gapps. I have successfully flashed Gapps stock and works great. Note I flashed Magisk last. So far this GSI works great, better than the phones original. Xposed works! Gravity box beta 6 works. Apps now auto start properly.
Thank you.
Thanks

My Oukitel K9 is A-Only partition when I use Treble checker. Every guide seems to reference A/B for the Oukitel K9. Mine is not or at least it is being reported incorrectly.
How do I update to a custom rom when I have only A-Partition? The stock image is so buggy it's almost unusable.
Thanks!

Is the process any different? I found the following list of files:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-17.x/
It shows Treble A only image as an option. Mine supports Treble but not seamless updates due to the A-only partition.
Will the image listed above work with the normal guides? Do I need the vbmeta.img for the Oukitel K9?
I'm very new to this so I'm afraid to mess it up.

you can try both, but i think our k9 is A/B partition.
yes you need vbmeta.img

I have tried 4 different Treble checking apps and they all say Treble supported but seamless updates not supported because A-only partition exists.
This is a Oukitel K9 OUKITEL_K9_V21_20190524
Wonder why everyone else seems to have A/B and I only have A.

How do you verify you are A/B? Mine says A only on 4 different treble apps. Is there a way to verify for sure? I have a Oukitel K9.

You can try it first both partition. If not boot, try another partition. :fingers-crossed:
Everything seems to work except hotspot
The no verity, Lineage rom a/b, vbmeta, resizing system partition size, installing stock gapps all works making this one of the nicest roms I have worked with. The only issue I find so far I cannot get the mobile Hotspot to stay on. Mobile Hotspot works in safe mode. I did a fresh install and does the same. Modded buildprop, no results. Installed module tether enabler, no results.
Mobile Hotspot switches off right away. Any ideas?

It is this one a/b I have not seen any other variants. Both Global and Chinese have same partition setup. Yes I have tried a only and doesn't boot.
How do I check? I've tried the ADB SHELL commands and it returns an empty line. The article said it would show TRUE if it did. All it returns is an empty line. I have yet to find any app that shows my Oukitel K9 is A/B. All of them say it is not.

If recovering to stock is easy, I guess I can dive in and try the A/B image and see if it works.

use the lineage ab... it is ab. Make sure to do the no verity first with vbmeta line. Then flash lineage ab the file is not clear it states b. I tried them all see my post for direct download.
Same result

I have same firmware, K9 OUKITEL_K9_V21_20190524, and same results for Treble check (see screenshots for info).
Also, device not recognized using fastboot.
Code:
adb devices
OUKITELK90007961
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
success; 'FASTBOOT mode. . .' on phone
Code:
fastboot devices
blank line
From what I understand, this is because our devices' bootloaders are locked; and there is nothing we can do to change that, period. So, no flashing anything but stock. I hope I'm wrong, and someone more knowledgeable corrects me, but I'm pretty sure this is correct.
For now I'm just stuck, and using temporary root as mentioned in previous post.

[stock Rom] Blu G-90 G0310WW

Blu G90 device shipped from factory with Android 10
as with other devices from blu they do not have a public download of there roms. So here is the stock rom pulled from the device with SP-Flash tool.
Both the shipped rom build fingerprint
Code:
ro.bootimage.build.fingerprint=BLU/G90/G0310WW:10/QP1A.190711.020/1585383273:user/release-keys
And the ota update from June fingerprint
Code:
ro.system.build.fingerprint=BLU/G90/G0310WW:10/QP1A.190711.020/1592848714:user/release-keys
are in android file host flash-able with spflash tool, if needed.
I know the first thing to have before modifying android is the method to recover from bad edits. So here they are.
Other works will be stored in this same folder.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=315927
First stock rom is Dumped to github, If you need or want specific files, without needing to download whole rom.

Flashing GSI
few more steps than Pie devices, but not too complicated.
You will need recent fastboot tools as tested these steps were done with V30.0.4

I have been able to edit the stock /system and flash it back to phone.
--I have added adaway host file
--Removed the SIMO app
-- Removed the IGNITE adware app (dti.blu)
--Removed The Verizon Remote SIM lock app
--Removed Blu-Privacy app
--Removed Opera browser app
--Deodexed Rom (rom would not boot past splash screen without this)
Uploaded edited sysem.img to device folder listed in OP.
Flash with same instructions as How to flash GSI
--Attempting to add SU binary makes rom fail to boot. So still no stock rooted.
Maybe soon.

Blu released kernel source today. 8-27. The tar.hz is dated April, eh, whatever.
I added the source files to the wip twrp tree, it compiles without error. (Not my normal experience , on first time out with Blu kernel).
But as mentioned before, the twrp will not pack the image correctly. Because of the need for new dtb commands that twrp 9.0 build environment does not accept.
And when building in the twrp 10.0-wip tree, the results have not booted for me yet. (I'm on build attempt 12, or so)
I'm rambling, sorry.
When I repack the twrp using the built kernel, twrp has only blank screen, and adb is active. So kernel is slightly off.
Build did not output separate dtb or dtbo.
Well I confirmed it, the screen on this phone is not the one the kernel is building for.
I compared the defconfig from source, the one that matches the name in build prop, to the one I pulled from /proc. And they are different, and the kernel errors out during build when using right defconfig. So, waiting again for Blu to provide the files.
There does not appear to be any interest in this phone, other than my own.
Well maybe it will catch on
It's been advertised on many mm ore locations than the average BLU phone.

Ebay
Walmart
Newegg

Time will tell.

Not yet. They acknowledged my email, but as yet have not updated there posted source.
Root is half way achieved.
Factory rom was found. It included a boot-debug.img
When this image is used in boot partition, adb root is allowed.
It is only limited root. Example: blockdev command , used to allow remount / to rw, is not permitted. Bit is start.
Factory flashtool rom shared on Blu developers mediafire page.
Will add link to debug-boot.img soon
added to device folder listed in OP
google information on debug-boot.img

if you have the stock boot.img, and magisk manager, why cant you patch the boot.img and then disable dm-verity by flashing vbmeta.img/vbmeta_system.img/vbmeta_vendor.img and then flash the boot.img via sp flash tool to give you root access?

This is not entirely true.
Many Umidigi phones have been upgraded from 9 to 10. So the partitions would be very similar and considerably easy to root.
But for new phones coming with 10 the story changes. Read the last pages of your link's article. In addition, I know why and effect on Umidigi Power 3 still has limitations on root.
So this BLU G90 is not very different and depends on a lot of experimentation and tests. I believe that the OP is doing a great job mainly taking everything to github and trying to compile the kernel and firmware.
