51.1.A.4.225 Update - Sony Xperia XZ2 Guides, News, & Discussion

I don't know what are the changelogs. Did you all get the update yet?
There's also an Updated Support app with New UI, Improved Dashboard, and Improved Battery Stats.

Edit: This update only brought June Security Patch. I see nothing else.
Edit 2: maybe just a placebo effect, but I feel like the speed and battery performance is improved.

I got it today. H8266.

I got too

Update is not good, Sony change governor of kernel and clock stay at 1,7 MHz more time, at 0,5 MHz none. Now XZ2 its more battery drained in normal usage and throttling ?

And what is it that RCS services, before updating i don't have this in battery stats, and now is with the high usage %

If anyone on T-Mobile US has received this update, can you verify whether is enables VoLTE and WIFI calling like https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76628797&postcount=79 suggested it might?

I have been seeing RCS in my battery stats since day one of my XZ2. Maybe you don't pay attention to your battery stats at all.
Before wildly pointing fingers at Sony, please question your telco provider 1st, as it might be a problem on their side that RCS is misbehaving.

No, before RCS Service never been in use and stated on battery usage

RCS appeared all the time in my battery stats.
I just opened the stats to check and it's probably the first time that RCS is not one of the top 3 items (it's not even in the list right now). I upgraded to 51.1.A.4.225 yesterday don't know if thats related or just random.

Now I see RCS, too.
Never had this before this update in my battery stats.
I even don't use a RCS client.

I have fw 173 do i get also 225 ? I life in the netherlands and didn't get a new update yet to 225.

Wait or check xperifirm.com

I have RCS in my battery stats since day one but it doesn't matter, since it doesn't mess with the battery life, I think. The battery performance is oddly improved with this update, for me. The keyboard also works faster for some reason (I'm using Xperia Keyboard).

I agree battery life has improved. Rcs doesn't mess with my battery at all.
Sent from my H8266 using XDA Premium HD app

Yeah, in fact, the overall speed is improved, too.
Again, maybe just placebo.
I got about 8h15m sot with about 20 hr up time now, it was just about 7h before.

Got my update today on a unbranded H8226 ..
Did not encounter any problem so for but neither did I see an improvement ...
Overall I'm satisfied that we got the newest security patch so fast.

Pergormsnce a little bit improved because Sony has changed kernel governor. I think RCS is service of superstamina and all the time works in background in ram.

RCS is a Messages related process.

They fixed touch problems, that for sure, no any wierd actions with chrome or other apps and games, at least on my device.

Still no update here on my xz2, still use fw 173 anyone knows when i get the june patch in the Netherlands ? No pc so cant check xperifirm

[HELP] Battery Use App has gone mad!?!

Hi folks!
I tried to search the topic before starting a new thread but I couldn't find any.
So, here's my problem. I noticed that since I flashed the stock JQ1 Gingerbread from chainfire's thread apart from everything else being fantastic, the battery use statistics in Settings -> Status -> Battery Use I can see are stranger and stranger.
First I have noticed that my the battery usage of Display had frozen to 2%. It is completely impossible, comparing it to the Froyo before, where it often went beyond 50 or even 60% of total battery usage.
Then, I saw that the Android System was taking about 90% of the stats. At first I thought it may be the infamous Gingerbread battery drain. It is not that, however, because I do not feel the battery draining any faster than before.
Then came the realization that no matter what application I am running, it does not get reflected in the Battery Use - only Android System percentage grows bigger. The funny part is that from time to time the total of all percentage goes beyond 100%
And, finally, today I unchecked the background update of the PULSE application, because I do not really use it and checking the Battery Use again what did I see. See attachment:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Not only the display category had gone away totally, but half of the battery usage is now transferred to PULSE, which I don't use.
Please, do you have any ideas how to repair that?
I am on a European Galaxy Tab, JQ1 2.3.3 Android + CF-Root v3.3 for JQ1
Not anyone experiencing the same problem? Just a little update from me. I read half the cloud already, strange but it is the first time that I cannot really find my topic in Google.
I tried what not - no result. I wiped battery stats, which only helped to the extent that the PULSE has gone from battery use stats, and display is back but the readings are stuck at 2% no matter how much I am actually using the display.
I read somewhere that it could be the kernel, where some thing may have not been allowed or switched on??? But if that was the case I would not be the only one with the same problem, but all the people that have flashed the ROM + CF Root 3.3 from chainfire's thread????
Still no ideas?
Hey guy,
Once ago I had the same problem. I don't think that pulse realy eats your battery. But we all know that the battery statistics is incorrect. So don't worry. Do use "AntTek App Manager ☆ root" (its free) to remove the puls app and wipe the cach. Or just install the overcome rom. It's much better then the Sock Rom. Trust me Because after removing of puls, there are other false statuses. I don't remember but i think it will show you that the battery is eaten by the core apps for more then 70%.
Sorry guy... I know about my terrible english
Hey odysseus84,
don't worry about your English. I am glad that you tried to be helpful. It is not that bad. After all I understood what you mean. You are right, even without Pulse in battery stats, I am still missing statistics for practically everything.
It is interesting that the Battery Use fails to record third party apps. As you can see below, the usage for all main system processes like Idle, Standby, Bluetooth, Wi-fi, Voice Calls are there. The statistics for display usage is stuck at 2% as already mentioned, which is the most annoying part.
Another interesting thing is that everything seems to be put into Android System usage, because normally it wouldn't get more than 10% of the overall battery usage share.
May I ask for other people running Gingerbread 2.3.3 to post their battery stats here?
Look. It's just a Bug. There is "Android System"written but it means the % of the Display. There is "Display" written but it means something else. As you can see on the attached pic we have almost the same "Display" usage.
And the other thing is that the statistics nothing shows with less then 2% usage.
Finally you can just accept it or flash something else.

Poor battery life on cyanogenmod 11

Hi,
I have a nexus 5 running cyanogenmod 11 ,and for a while now I have been experiencing
some very poor battery life performance.
yesterday it went from 50% to 1% at night because of com.android.systemui and android system.
I tried installing different nightlies versions but the battery was still unstable and drained completely. :/
So today I re-installed everything and did a complete factory reset and cache partition format installing nightly 20140731 and Gapps, hoping that would help.
I charged my phone to 100% ,and then unplugged it and let Gsam battery monitor run in background with no apps working ,almost everything greenified, with WiFi off, location off and sync on.
Google now is off, brightness on low settings (no auto brightness),good data signal strength and very low usage (mostly checking whatsapp, couple of minutes of gaming, checking some stuff on chrome, but most of the time I didn't even touch the phone).
Normally this kind of usage should not make my nexus run under 90%-95%. this time it dropped to 20% ,in 4 hours...
I followed the battery troubleshooting sticky thread , and did everything I could to make the battery last.
I've uploaded the pictures of my battery usage in a rar (it doesn't let me upload all 5 pictures,so rar it is...) and I'm really hoping someone could help me solve this..
I don't want to go back to stock android, but this battery drain is intolerable.
If you need more information please ask..
Theres a sticky thread for this:

It hardly tells us anything until you tap on something that has somewhat high usage/what type of wakelock is keeping your device awake. In your case it would be "System..." and "Combined App Wakelocks", you tap on those.

Well ,then I'll update the screenshots after the battery is drained again ...
Considering it's a nightly, it could just be bugs. I've never actually tried nightlies because I like stability, but I suppose it is possible that there's wakelocks bugs.

I just mean in general a nightly might be unstable. Not saying you should switch to a stable CM. Just saying some bugs are expected. But regardless, I agree with the previous posters. You should click on the individual apps in that list to get more information.

Z3 D6603 - Battery life is not good

Hello,
So recently i've noticed the Battery performance on my Sony Xperia Z3 has become poor, I mainly use my device for socialising etc, I don't game alot. I'm currently Running Android 4.4 Kitkat (UK)
(I'm usually at home and connected to Wi-Fi)
See the results for yourself:

Check if the device is constantly awake at the detailed battery information if you click on the graph.
If that's the case, search xda for "wakelock" and how to get rid of it.
An easier attempt is, to think if it's a certain app you installed recently or a change you made to your system.

Thank you for your response,
I'll Go ahead and download a Wakelock Detector By someone who works here at XDA, and i'll see if it finds anything; But as of now my battery died again; So i left it dead for 15 minutes, and now i'm charging it back to 100% with no interruptions

You could also install the ota update for lollipop and see if that automatically solves your issue. (new versions are being created to be better)
Another option is to flash the lollipop stock rom and try if that solves it. (but that's a bit more advance)
I suddenly got a similar issue - not as bad as yours but a drop in battery life. I turned off scanning even when wifi is off and turned on location based wifi and my battery life went back to normal. I'd just had a Google Play Services update and have had this issue with various play services updates in the past on other devices which is why that was one of the first solutions I tried.
Might be worth a shot if you haven't already tried it :good:
There's always Greenify.
Repair it or flash another ftf file.
Same thing here. Since I've had this when I purchased it new I've not had any good battery life. My old z2 had way better battery life and stamina mode works.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk 2
Was there any update to this matter, OP?
What brightness options are you using? (% and adaptive or not?)
Also, did you actually update it to Lollipop? Was there any problem with wakelock?
Best regards.
Network & Wake Lock
The last screenshot you posted clearly shows that the battery drain is because of your Mobile Network and a Wake Lock.
Network Signal:
As signal strength decreases, the device requires additional power resulting in battery drain.
The cost of 1 hour’s worth of calls is 150mA, assuming a strong signal
So, on a 2000mA battery, it takes 8% of total capacity (8% =150 / 2000)
This means the same 1 hour of calls could cost as much as 23% of battery life (23% = 450 / 2000)
Wake Lock:
WakeLocks are a Power Manager system Service feature, available to your applications to control the power state of the host device.
Wake Locks can be used to keep the CPU running, prevent the screen from dimming, prevent the screen from turning off, and prevent the keyboard backlight from turning off.

Something is messing my battery up.

While using Twitter or any app, my battery goes down at least 4-5%. I can't get decent battery on this.
I have the Verizon edition.

It is pretty new. I didn't think that would effect anything. I guess I will let it have some cycles then.
I have some ideas that might be able to get the problem solved. I would first try turning off your phone for 5-10 minutes since it might be overheating. Then I would uninstall any new apps that you might have installed since you can remember the battery drain starting. There is a small chance you might be experiencing some battery drain issues from a third party app that caused a virus. Its also a good idea to get a security app like avg since its free. Other then that you might also want to check that your phone is not completely full on storage, and also consider turning off the facebook app since it can cause some serious battery drain issues as well. I think thats pretty much it if you want to get rid of facebook on your galaxy s7 here is how to do it. and it will really help with your battery life
I had the same kind of battery drain on my Sprint variant. A factory reset quickly fixed that issue for me.

So I used it up for a day and let it die completely. Charged it right back up and now its pretty bad today. These are screenshots from when I made it die.
I did disable Facebook. The Android System and Screen are using the most up right now. It went down about 7% for being almost idle. I used Twitter once.
Possible Solution to the DRAIN!
Ok, so I've had the same issues as you. My findings are as per Gsam Battery Monitor:
1. High Android OS and Android System usage~ 20-30%
2. High Phone Radio ~ 40% at times
3. Overnight drain of at least 4% (stanbby drain)
4. Screen usage 'while off' higher than 'while on'
This was frustrating and is as mentioned by other users to be a bug from updates and related to charging.
SOLUTION:
Today Gsam reports my Android OS and Android System usage and Phone Radio at 10% and below.
All i did was...
1. Let it drain to about 90% after charge.
2. Restart the phone.
3. Then plug in the micro USB to USB connector (the one that comes with the phone) with a flash drive attached and play a song/short video.
4. Unplug and enjoy great battery life.
This worked for me so it's worth a try. Will test a full charge soon and hopefully it doesn't require the steps above every time to stop the drain.
btw I'm NOT rooted, using LTE.........wifi,bluetooth, AOD and locations all off.

How To Guide You get +10 Hours SOT

The phone itself barely gets more than 5/6 hours of SOT, it's due to cellular, and newer 5G technology NOT BEING AVAILABLE IN SOME AREAS, AND NOT WITH THE SAME IMPLEMENTATION (Europe/EEUU MOSTLY)
So, for getting everything that is spected for 6000mah battery and a 5NM processor (better sot than a rog 3, around 20% better) you MUST do the following:
1 # Disable: "Phone data always active" on developer settings, search on GOOGLE how to access to developer options.
2 # Install latest WW rom from the zip on ASUS website >than .49 and do FULL WIPE.
3 # IF YOU DON'T HAVE 100% SIGNAL ON 5G, DISABLE IT, cause don't work and drain battery.
With this you SHOULD get more than 10 hours of SOT, even with 144 hz fixed.
and a lot of gaming sot also without any heat.
Just did it. Let's see if it helps. Thought I was the only one experiencing this issue
lets go try

Couple of hours of crossy road but nothing too demanding. I'm not really a mobile gamer.
About 12 hours sot on fixed 120hz. Confirmed.

Find build number in settings-about phone-software information and tap it 7 times to enable dev options.
Now developer options will be there in setting-system. There you will find it
What we need is a custom kernel that allows undervolting and underclocking, we could easily pull a few mV and lock the CPU to 2,2Ghz max to save MASSIVE amounts of energy.
Where is the issue? 5g always on even if Not avaiable. Mobile data always on and also double WiFi always on, localisation always on, Bluetooth always on.
