Newest Global Stable Rom: V9.5.18.0.ODGMIFA - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Guides, News, & Discussion

The global stable which is floating around is very old, so here's a newer one.
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.5.18.0.ODGMIFA/miui_MIMIX2SGlobal_V9.5.18.0.ODGMIFA_a9e31fa04c_8.0.zip
It might be possible to update to this if you are on older global stable.
Nightly builds are also updated at:
https://funkyhuawei.club/mimix2builds
We have up to May 8 builds now.
I will add stable builds there in the future as well.

Thanks a lot. Is it a fastboot rom?

Not a fastboot rom. Regular OTA zip.

Cool thx!
Could you please provide fastboot ROM version as well?

Hmm do you know if this is flashable within the updater when we have a locked bootloader on the chinese stable (8gb variant)?

It's not. It fails due to region mismatch. It might work if you have an original global phone, but not on Chinese.
For Chinese, only hope of switching to global is unlocking the bootloader.

Just FYI, you can't install it through Updater app as this update is a beta update. Flash it manually with TWRP.
Edit. At least that's what Updater app tells me, I'm on v9.5.4.0 Global.

Thanks for that insight.
I am really pissed at Xiaomi: I am a 5 year Gold user in their forum and once even was a beta tester and admin there, in the Galaxy Note 1 + MIUI days.
When I bought the Mi Mix 2S 8GB variant last Sunday, I logged in with my MI Account, which has unlock permissions since 2 years and I was able to unlock any new Xiaomi phone I ever bought immediately without waiting for confirmation SMS anymore (as the Unlocking permission is on account level, not device level).
Then I enabled Developer Mode and went into "Mi Unlock status" to press "Add account and device". After that I started the unlocker application as usual and tried to unlock, which failed. with the message "Wait 360 hours" which is over 10 days! Damn...
Later I checked the developer settings again and saw another thing "OEM unlocking" which is set to OFF.
TLDR; Do you know if we have to set this to ON as well, before starting the unlocking process?

I set it to on before trying to unlock and my device was unlocked immediately. I'm a Diamond member and was a beta tester in 2017 though so I'm not sure if that makes any difference

From my experience yes, you have to switch it on. I'm pissed off as well, got the device mid-April and got it usable only a week ago on the 3rd of May, as 360h is a heckin' 15 days. Gotta think twice before buying anything Xiaomi again, though Mix 2S is beyond amazing thus far <3

I think that would be theoretically possible:
Set your device's MI Account to an account that already has unlock permissions.
In developer options add the device for unlock permissions.
In developer options turn on OEM unlock.
Unlock.
But never tried. I'm sure xiaomi is banning accounts that unlock too many devices, because thats how they prevent resellers from buying chinese devices and flashing the global rom in big quantities.

Chinese resellers, generally, have been using EDL to flash the global rom without touching the bootloader. But it seems not possible with Mi Mix 2S. I think they're trying to prevent resellers from installing compromised custom ROMs, which is fine, but 15 days is still a long wait.
My account also allows unlocking, but not instantly it would seem, as I got the 15 day wait. I don't have any kind of special account, but I've had it for a long time.
On the Mi Mix 2, I had a 72 hour wait, which I didn't really mind. But 360 hours is a long time!
Anyway, theoretically, if someone offered me their account which can unlock the phone instantly, it would be a gamble. If it turns out it doesn't work to unlock the phone instantly, I think my wait would get reset to 360 hours again.

any news about root?it's working correctly by flash magisk from polaris recovery?

I can confirm to you, that having that option set to ON, in developer options, the result is the same...i got an "WAIT 360 Hours" too.
Got my message text last Sunday, granted me to unlock the device, then when i logged into my Mi Account to unlock it, gave me that message...so, got to wait 360 hours.

When i flash a global rom, is the bootloader still unlocked? Have the china version with unlocked bootloader and xiaomi.eu rom at the moment.

Yes, your bootloader won't relock again and if you relock it you can unlock it instantly again without waiting the 360h.

Can you find fastboot ROM version of it? That would be highly appreciated.

I'm impressed with the difficulty to release a fastboot version for the Global Rom.

For every build has fastboot version on bigota servers but more difficult to find them than the recovery version

Create a new account, where you will input all your data, including the phone number...
Achive Diamond member on MIUI forum..with that new account, otherwise you will not be able to unlock it.
Just hit that restore to factory deff. button in security and your phone will be wiped. remember to backup everything on computer.
After your phone is factory deff. then on the initial setup, input the new MI account you just created.. and you're good to go.
Application will be made by the unlock tool, once you logged with your UID (the account number on forum) and password. As soon as MI will let you unlock the bootloader, you will receive an SMS, that your account was allowed to unlock it.
Only after that, you will be able to unlock the bootloader.

yes.. just a simple wipe will do..also cache and davilk cache..
after that, you can apply for new MI acoount. The one you will own, and know everything about it.
I didn't payed too much attention, but how in the world, ibuygou to send you a new device with a prestored MI account?! I don't get it.

It came with an xiaomi.eu ROM and twrp already installed. Worryingly I've done a full system wipe and clean install of a xiaomi.eu ROM before and it hasn't reset my mi account. Or so I thought, will try again Friday or at the weekend.
Isn't locking bootloader against Mi's 'geek' spirit?
Locking bootloader is aimed to provide better user experience, which we've been trying to do the whole time. In the meantime, we've provided a unlocking tool for senior users who know their ways around flashing and tweaking their devices. (Unlocking Tutorial)
The unlocking process is really simple. After unlocking, the device can do all the things as before we locked bootloader.
The unlocking procedure will need Internet access to get the unlocking password. Also, the Mi Account logged in on the Mi phone and the unlocking tool needs to be the same. Otherwise the unlocking request will be denied. This will ensure that ill-intentioned people will not get access to your personal data.

Well, I think a *****, more coming from a company that its beginnings were a simple modified ROM, if all the phones have blocked today Xiaomi not exist. These behaviors piss me much. At least hopefully option to open it easily, like google with the nexus

excuse , as you become a diamond member?
Maybe they want to protect new costumers from bloatware installed by resellers, and the only option is locking the bootloader...
BUT
-the unlocking peocedure is only in Chinese at the moment
-you don't receive the unlock code immediately, the wait could be 15 days
-Xiaomi locked already sold phone by an update without writing it on changelog
I own a Mi4c by 2 weeks, fortunately I'm on sMiui, otherwise with this update I would have returned this phone

This move by Xiaomi will prevent other s**t from resellers...
Well I guess don't want to flash the developer rom, then
How will this affect roms like sMIUI or Xiaomi.eu?
I understand why they did it, but I don't like how they enabled it. They should have made all future phones being made/shipped out be locked, so then you know from the start you have a locked bootloader. I feel bad whoever ran into issues with updating with a custom recovery.

It might be foreboding of a move into more international markets for them. Seems like an attempt to cripple resellers that modify stock or flash the EU roms in any case.
I can't imagine any other incentive for them to make this move, since they've always been so focused on ROM development themselves, they must've realized this would not sit well with their audience. I remember people marveling at the first MIUI ROM when it came around for the Nexus One. Weird how that feels nostalgic already.
I ordered a 4c not 24 hours ago, I hope this doesn't mean I'll get treated to an unlock process exclusively in Chinese before I can get a crack at it. But no use worrying about that yet, cross that bridge when we get to it.
Does anyone has an idea on what to do with this phone now?
I just bought it today and I was going to install xiaomi.eu rom. Now I have just spent 2000 HKD on a phone full of "MI accounts" and Chinese software that is no use to me... Even the unlock method requires diamond status or whatsoever on your MI account? I don't even want to have a MI account!! This is madness.. and the unlock software is all in Chinese even on your phone!

Probably your phone will come with a old unofficial version of miui, simply don't apply 6.1.14 china dev, if you want an official rom flash the last stable, or sMiui...
I think they need to sell of the existing stock before pushing locked bootloader smartphone to resellers...

It seems to be a panic solution from XIAOMI... But I for one, have had bloatware/malware installed when I got the device. I just bought one for my girlfriend, and I'm positive that there is bloatware installed as well.
I am sure that the team at Xiaomi are reading this, and when XDA members (like me) complain about bloatware, they see a threat, as I sure as hell won't recommend a device from Xiaomi to rookie users because of the bloatware.

Flash & Unbrick Mi MIX 2S by Test Point Method!

First of all, i apologize for my bad english.
this method will help you to unbrick your Mi Mix 2s!
from :
1. The system has been destroyed
2. "This MIUI can't be installed on this device"
3. Locked Bootloader in global/ china ROM
4. Etc
how to do :
1. Remove the back panel of the phone
2. Do test point #below the rear camera
3. Flash it with MiFlash2018-5-28-0
*before you flash, go to MiFlash2018 Folder -> Mi -> account_auth.exe
login with Authorized Mi Account (thanks for redmi note 5/pro ARP cases)
4. do flash
5. wait for done
6. enjoy ur mi mix 2s again!!!
Basically everyone on the official Xiaomi Support Threads for the Mix 2S says this does not work. Not almost everybody--every single person that has tried it and left a comment about their experience. All you will do if you follow these instructions is permanently destroy your phone and if that is your intention smashing it repeatedly with a hammer is faster and easier.
Sorry, I did for my phone, and it's works
And now I am replying from my mix 2s,
It was bricked XE model with locked bootloader in global rom. Just flash with China rom, and the key is mi flash 2018 with authorized mi account which we posted in miui Russia forum to get authorized for bricked arp redmi note 5 pro

I bought this bricked phone from someone, XE model, he flashed to global rom and forgot to choose Clear All, he check Clear and Lock in Mi Flash,
Then the phone is bootloop for a month, he tried to flash, etc with any methods, flash recovery, etc
That's how his phone system destroyed
Sorry for my bad english
If your system says it got destroyed it isn't destroyed it only locked the bootloader and that means you have to unlock it again to access the rom.
@jhs39 and ryan mixed: You´re absolutely right: Due to a failed flash to Android P, my Mix2s got hardbricked -
only showing 'The system is destroyed' - the bootloader was re-locked - only Fastboot was working.
I was able to re-unlock the bootloader by using the latest MiUnlockTool ( the older ones got stuck at 50%... )
- after that, the phone was booting again and everything was OK. My experience is: forget all workarounds with
deepflash cables, testpoint aso - the possibility to damage the hardware of the phone is excessive and they won´t
lead to success. The only way to get it working again is to unlock the bootloader! And this is working not depending
if usb debugging is enabled or you got ´find my phone´ enabled in your mi.account,....

Hm, maybe we´re going to be a bit OT - I read the mentioned thread - who needs five mi accounts?
I have only one for my three registered Mi´s. I did the re-unlock of my Mix2s two weeks ago and
I checked it again before writing this - it still has permission. So, maybe there are other reasons why
Xiaomi has revoked some people´s accounts permission? Maybe depending on the age of the
account, the region, or they reglement the number? IDK. Only Xiaomi knows...

For backup, cause of hardbrick of redmi note 5 anti rollback, no fastboot, no recovery, etc, the only way is to flash in edl for ubl devices, otherwise for non ubl devices we do test point, not permission to unlock, but permission to flash in edl mode.
Try miflash 2018,go to "mi" folder, login with your account, see unauthorized or authorized.
OK, arb can be a bad trap for owners of redmi note 5, but is it also
applicable to the Mix2s? As I wrote, I used the 'old' miflash_unlock
( ver. 3.3.525.23 ) and after that I flashed from failed Android P to
global dev. and then again to Android P using XiaoMiFlash
( ver. 2017.4.25.0 ). And honestly, I´m a bit scared of trying a new

I mean the flashing method, not about ARB.
I used that method for my bricked mi mix 2s,
XE model with Locked BL in global rom,
Just fastboot and recovery,
Bootloop,
Everytime i flash with MI PC Suite 3.0 beta, it's detected as Global or XA model, when i flashed, phone bricked again.
I do try unlock BL again, and got message "this account is not bound to device or something like that" in Mi Unlock
So i downloaded MiFlash 2018 + borrow authorized mi account,
Do test point by opening rear side,
Then flashed China Stable or Developer Rom & my phone is up again
I guess your phone is XA, not XE
Sorry, but @Pfofeldix is right. I have the XE model and once I locked the bootloader while being on Global ROM. Phone went softbricked of course, but I used Mi Unlock to unlock it and it went back to life again. Then I've done the whole procedure multiple times and during every single one of them I was able to "revive" my phone.
There's no point in destroying the phone when you can achieve the same outcome with the phone intact, left alone that some people say that the testpoint method doesn't work.
I don't know why some people can't relock and unlock again, but it definitely is possible if you did everything right in the first place.

Because you can unlock it before, when it unlocked, of course you can flash to any rom.
The problem was my phone Locked in hardbrick state,
Mi account not bound to device.
that's why i do test point, i didn't suggest people to destroy their phone, i do for my phone and it back to life. It's ok, i just want to share.

That's a different situation. The person who posted that had 5 accounts. I've used the same MI Account to unlock the bootloader on all 4 of the Xiaomi devices that I've owned. If you got caught using multiple accounts to request bootloader unlock I think Xiaomi always deauthorized the accounts.

You first have to enable developer options, then go in and...
1. Enable OEM Unlocking
2. Go into "Mi Unlock Status">scroll to bottom and then "Add account and Device."
With this said however, it will still not likely work. Once you try again and it fails, you have to request an Unlock on the site, and wait 720 hours before they allow bootloader unlock (roughly a month).
How do I know all this? I started my wait just last night, since I just got my phone last night.

In redmi note 7 i solved this with going to mi account un phone, security of account and adding a telephone number .
Yes, they've gotten much better about it. This was an issue for many at first, it's been resolved on Xiaomi end of allowing unlock.

Mi Mix 3 bootloop, please Help.

Solved!
Firstly, I apologize for basic English, but it is not my first language.
I am desperate and urgently needing help.
I made the mistake of flash the Global rom 10.1.1 in a Chinese ver. and locking the bootloader through MI flash tools.
The result was a Bootloop to recovery.
Already tried:
Re-unlock the bootloader
- I get the message "Wait 30 days to unlock another device".
Install through recovery using Mi Pc suite 3.0 beta.
-With stable version 10.2.2 I receive the message "error install the latest version"
- With version Dev 9.1.14 "error to install the dev version download on the official website"
Finally in EDL mode with Miflash tools ver. 2018
- I get the message that I am not have permissions to flash any of the Roms above.
Can someone please help me, through some unknown process or through authentication my ID 1683581889.
Many thanks in advance.
Short tutorial
1- Start your device in EDL mode "test point" by : https://en.miui.com/thread-5293017-1-1.html .
2- Download TeamViewer 14.x.x, MIFlash tools 2018 and last version of the fastboot Rom "Dev or Stable".
3- get in touch with this guy " https://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=5189577 " .
the man is a legend in 3min your device will be restored.

If you flashed the Global rom on the Chinese model phone and locked the bootloader you'll have yourself a nice paper weight
I hope not,
When I did the flash, had the pc connected to a smarttv, due to high resolution the option "clean all and lock" was hidden. which led to screw up.
You need to reflash the stock Chinese firmware with Xiaomi's firmware flashing tool. If you unlocked your device through the official app, it will be able to re-unlock the bootloader to flash it.
It was my first choice. Tried with:
Miflash 3.0/3.x, Miflash pro 3.x, XiaoMiflash, XiaomoABD and always end up with same results " error install the latest version". Maybe i losing something.
With official unlock tool i get message "Wait 30 days to unlock another device".
Maybe because i unlink my account before,
the idea was return to full stock to resell the device.

At this moment, the device is disassembled in the EDL mode.
But when I try to flash a Rom I'm getting the message, that my ID does not have permissions to flash.

Unlinking your account removes your ability to re-unlock your bootloader necause that devices bootloader unlock was tied to your account.

And now because you can't boot phone to connect account to phone it's a paper weight. Not sure what else you can do.
You could try using the standard fastboot from google and running through the scripts provided by Xiaomi to try to flash, even though the BL is locked. You might be able to fix it that way. What I would do is connect the phone, hold down VOL Down + Power til you get Fastboot mode, and then try running through the fastboot lines one at a time in the Xiaomi script.
As others have mentioned, you have created a brick. Whatever you choose to do at this point is up to you, and you certainly could make your situation worse. If you live in a country that Xiaomi supports, you could get the device to a service center and they can almost certainly fix it. I am looking into Qualcomm EDL stuff on this device, and am hopeful that I can find a way to change the hardware origin flags at a hardware level. Nothing concrete yet though.
Edit: for clarity: I'm saying flash a CN STABLE version from fastboot, over the global version.

I've been talking to the S-unlocked team, and they say they support Mi MIX 3 through EDL mode. The service costs $ 25. Does anyone know someone who provides the same service cheaper?

I have to agree! You can't expect them to do it for nothing. It is a service and it will restore the device that isn't working to working condition. Definitely a bargain!

Sorry, but it's not my point of view, please understand.
So far U-Unlocker was unknown company I'm afraid to spend another 25 $ for nothing.
So far I'm losing $ 500 "device cost" I do not want to waste more money on a device that is device that is destined for resale.

That doesn't make much sense.
If you do nothing you lose $500, phone in current state has no resale value.
If you spend $25 you could potentially get your phone back to a working state with a few hundred value

Maybe the right question was.
Anyone know if they are reliable? It will work? Or someone used the service before for this device.

Question Couldn't unlock Xiaomi 13 Bootloader

As title suggests,
I have had the phone since 10th March, and since day 1 I bound the account in Mi Unlock Status in developer settings successfully, enabled OEM unlocking and USB debugging.
However, I have tried the Mi Unlock tool version 6.5.406.31 and 6.5.224.28.
I even tried XiaomiToolV2-99.9.9 (the one on github)
They all say the same message
Couldn't Unlock

I have followed what it said multiple times, and I get no error messages, just a added successful message.
I'm at a loss on what to do, I've never had this issue before on any of my previous Xiaomi phones since Xiaomi Mi 6.
For some scope, I got the phone from WondaMobile 12GB Ram 512GB Storage China model.
I even contacted Xiaomi Customer service, they said "I've passed this on to the technical team" then ended the chat haha
Can anyone advise what I can do?

Yep, tried it all. believe me, I'm good at this stuff, been doing it since 2010.
And I'm also a Software Engineer in my day job.
Just this one is being a little b.
I made sure my phone wasn't using a VPN, or a DNS as I do often use both.
But I was wondering, (I've never come across this myself) if because it's a china version that I might need to use a china vpn?
Others have CN devices and not this problem and others with Global were never able to unlock the bootloader.

Yeah I've seen.
I've already tried everything you've suggested,
Login via email on both phone and tool,
Login via phone number on both phone and tool,
Login via account number on both phone and tool,
Login via QR Code on tool from phone.
I've already used the locate tool in the browser multiple times, can confirm I can locate all my Unlocked bootloaders xiaomi phones including this one.
I haven't changed my account, but I'm unsure why I would need to do that since I've never had issues with it before since 2014.
I'm worried about doing a factory reset because it's a china rom, which has english language support. but will not have Google play installed. I know I can install it, but it's hasle. I'd rather do this as a last resort, so I may login with a new account if I still can't unlock it later.
Unless theres any other suggestions.

It seems to me that for recent phones, framework and play store are included.

I've not wiped/formated the phone, I only set up the Xiaomi 13 on the 10th March. 4 days ago.

I saw this somewhere else, but I have not seen an actual source for it. If you could find a source I'd greatly appreciate it.
This must be a new thing because I've never had this issue before. I created accounts and successfully unlocked bootloaders within 168 hours successfully.
On my main account it usually unlocks within 15 minutes. But this time, it's not taking to the binding.
