It's terrible in comparison to my S6 Edge+.
Every call so far, I have had to get people to txt me a number so I can call them back from a landline.
At this rate I'll be returning the phone.

Calls get muted sometimes. Felt it with the Exynos(G-965F) variant several times. Didn't get it in the G-9650 so far.

Coming from the Moto X PE the one speaker at the bottom sounds so sad. I also am having to train myself not to cover it up on accident. For me it is way to quiet or too loud.
Coming from a Galaxy S6, the speaker on the Pixel is significantly louder and clear. I have not been jaded by an HTC set of speakers so I might be in the minority that thinks the Pixel speaker is great.
Coming from N6, I was worried that the XL's speaker will not be as loud. I can confirm that it is as loud, if not slightly louder, but the dual speakers on the N6 has more depth. Overall, I am not as worried as before.
The quality is good, could be louder.
The sound on my end is great, the people on the other end say it's muffled at times. Since I use speaker all day for conference calls I will have to return the Pixel XL

This makes me feel better since I am coming from a N6 and absolutely love the speakers. I'm going to miss FFS, but at least a quality sound will comfort me.

Speaker is pretty bad as far as media/games is concerned. RIP stereo. It's good for normal notifications though.

You keep badmouthing the phone yet provide no information for comparison. What other phones have you had, even single speaker ones, that sound better?
This is very subjective anyway
My comparison is with the 6p. Single speaker comparison is the lg g3. The speaker is not terrible on the pixel, but just not as good as one would expect in such a high priced phone. Also, the placement is horrid since you accidentally keep blocking it while watching videos of playing games in landscape.
But otherwise, a fantastic phone which really define what great software and hardware can achieve

I typically run the phone through bluetooth when listening to music, however I must say that when watching videos I, like others have said, block the speaker. Coming from a Moto X Pure I don't think the speaker on the Pixel is quite as good. It's not bad per se, but I don't need the speaker to be spectacular when watching a video. Notification sounds are plenty loud for me. I haven't used the speaker phone option much, but when I have it has been fine.
I find the single speaker avg. I sometimes cover the speaker with a pinky or palm by accident and muffles just a slight flaw but not a deal breaker.
RIP my Nexus 6's front facing speakers. This is my only major gripe with this phone so far. So disappointing. Front facing speakers should be standard.
Max volume loudness seems about the same as my 6P. My 6P gets crackly at max volume, while the XL does not. Definitely less bass on the XL though.
Coming from the N6 it is not really a fair comparison because the stereo front firing was louder and clearer to me.
The Pixel XL speaker sounds OK and perfectly acceptable for notification. It would have been better if the earpiece was also used as a speaker and the location of the bottom firing speaker flipped with the mic for media.

It sounds deeper than my note 7 did. I like it better. The only issue I'm having is my notification tones seem to only be about 2/3 the volume they should be. Example is, if I go to Zedge and preview a notification tone, it sounds fine. Set it as notification sound, and it's only about 2/3 of the volume it was in the preview. I have everything I can find turned to the max. Idk.

Ditto to this. MXPE spoiled me in sound quality. Why doesn't every phone have front facing speakers? We certainly got the bezel for it...

Seeing I'm using the phone on MetroPCS and not Cricket, I'm not able to get the HD voice which is now on the network which I'd assume is similar to the HD voice calling on T-Mobile and MetroPCS. So maybe it sounds a bit louder on Cricket in HD and in sure more clarity of course. I do wish the volume could be louder (if anyone knows the mixer paths edit for the call volume to go louder I'll all ears) the boom key is supposed to make the calls louder, but for me it just makes the incall speaker sound like it's going to blow and distorts it. even in a lowered volume setting with the boom key on. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

I don't know which topic to put this in but I have some complainings about the vibrations of the device especially for notifications.
I found that the vibrations on my Honor 9 are quite weak and are unnoticable if I carry my phone in my pocket, I always use my phone in silent mode so vibrations are quite important to me.
The duration of the vibrations in the general messenger app are OK, but the duration of vibrations of facebook messenger isn't even 0,5s and at a weak intensity.
My old device (Samsung galaxy j5 2015) had much better vibrations intensity and vibrates 2x (bzz bzz..) at every notification and my Honor 9 only vibrates once which makes it unnoticable when you have you're phone in the pocket.
I downloaded an app called "good vibrations" which makes you able to costumize vibrations for every single app on your phone. It does the job quite well and it does improve the use a little bit but it's still unnoticable in my pocket.
I wish Huawei had some settings where you can costumize your vibrations by standard, or had a stonger motor inside.

I don't know but it is weak compared to all my old samsung devices. But the app "good vibrations" helps alot.

It could be due to the fact that it is placed in a bad spot.
A little better than honor 8 but just the same volume.

Sound quality (Headphones output) is really good, i recommend using some players like AIMP...But thing that disappoint me is the output power! With 3D audio off, equ flat, it outputs like ~0.130v rms haha, so lame for a phone in this price range ( my old lumia 630 was giving 0.5v at 1khz,)
If you are lover of louder music, you should get some 16ohm HP with >100db/mw sensitivity or HP amp for pushing higher impedance...

Went into the T-Mobile Store and saw the display unit.
I played YouTube videos comparing the sound next to my iPhone X. The introduction of stereo speakers is finally here for Galaxy users!!!
But quickly, I realized the X was louder , BUT! the Galaxy sounded more RICH and tuned correctly.
The iPhone X speakers were so loud that it shakes the device like bass.
I just think is a huge improvement, and moreover, speakers sound really nice.
I never buy any phone with no dual speakers, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with these ones.
I'm coming from Axon 7, Mate 9 Pro, Pixel 2 XL and last one was U11+, and I can say these speakers are in pair with all of those phones, because this will be my first Samsung ever.
I wasn't too confident at first when I found out that it will use the ear speaker as the second audio source but indeed a very good job made by Samsung here. Loud and clear. No distortions and a nice active bass effect.

Flip your phone upside down in your pocket. The top speaker faces toward you, but the bottom speaker faces out the bottom.
If you put your phone in your pocket upside-down, it'll have a clear shot to your ear.
Factory sound quality is great and yes once its enhanced with Dolby Atmos it is very stunning. I am enjoying My T-Mobile S9+ on Metro PCS

Hello . I have a problem with my galaxy s22 ultra Snapdragon , the videos I record at rave or shows that have a very strong sound The recording comes out with the horrible sound, totally blown up.
While cell phones( S10+ and S21 Ultra) of friends who recorded videos at the same party, the sound is perfect. I would like to know if this problem is on my cell phone or is the microphone of the s22 ultra that is really bad?
Anyone who has made videos in strong sound like a show? noticed the same problem?
I put a video on youtube that I recorded, all the videos had the same audio.
It's clipping like hell... the mic gain is way too high or the mics themselves can't physically handle that decibel level.
I don't know... I wouldn't expect my N10+ to do much better in the same conditions. Never tested it though.

Cam shake, multiple high contrast targets... normal. An AF lock can avoid that.
Not what I'd consider normal but then again my S21 Ultra is pretty bad in a hailstorm. 13 Pro Max kills it!
This is a well known issue already being discussed in a thread here. I'm assuming it's software related since my U.S t-mobile snapdragon S22 Ultra doesn't exhibit this. Hopefully Samsung will address it in an update in the near future.
