camera updates? horrible! - HTC U11 Life Questions & Answers

Anyone else having trouble with their camera. I can't take anything with the front camera anymore. It doesn't work in any app, including stock camera app. I've tried third party camera apps. No luck. I even tried some Google camera ports. All that works is selfie camera.
Am I the only one? Any suggestions?

Hello, I have no problem with the camera. I'm on android one 1.10.401.4

I'm running the Bad Seeds build with no issues; what os are you on?

Have you tried any of those?
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
I am using the Arnova8G2 from 2018-02-13 and it works.
Had issues with another version.
One thing though, as it is a pixel App, you can't save pictures on the SD-Card.
Making better pictures than the built in Cam.
Supposedly it says that the max MP Setting for the front (Selfie) Cam is only 5MP instead the U11 Life is capable of 16MP.
Still the Arnova seems the make better pictures, but might be subjective. Didn't make an exact test yet.
Try one of them, hopefully it works.
Good luck!

So you returned/sold the U11 Life, because of Cam Issues and such?
Moto5gs should do a good job.
How's the cam? Will probably work better.

Try using Pro Capture, in time I've seen Camera 360 take better shots, but I hate it burst the flash even when I'm not taking pictures.

Using Camera Zoom Fx...... seems good.
Stock seems fine to me, used ProCapture before.
Stock just keeps getting better for me.

+1 to snap, simple and lovely app..
Really the only thing I'd like is a burst mode. I like that when taking pics of the kids playing. Otherwise I used very few features of my old sammy cameras so the stock app is fine for me. I don't suppose there's any way to add a burst mode to it - any mods or anything?

Same here. I've purchased quite a few and none beat this combo for IQ. We really are at the mercy of the hardware.
Just got Lollipop, retried FV5, and definitely love its manual iso and exposure time control, as well as raw dng support. Processing the dng files with PS express, I get great results in low light, noticeably better than stock hdr+. You can browse thru the dngs with slingshot and share/ send them to PS express
Camera FV-5 only support PNG (for now), not DNG.
I hace FV5 v2.23, not sure whether it is beta still, but it does support everything I said in full resolution on lollipop nexus5.
Check their website or Facebook:

I turned on manual focus via google camera and all has been good for me. Stock 5.0.

[Q] Camera on CM12.1, stock, or OxygenOS

Apologies if this is answered in a FAQ somewhere. I have a G3 on CM 12.1 but the camera quality is not great. I know tha camera on the OPO is not world class but on stock it genereally is considered "good". Is it still good on CM12.1 or are you forced to revert to google camera or sometning worse? What about on OxygenOS? I'm assuming it works good on Oxygen as that is the current stock firmware.
I'm not concerned about 4k but would like good quality 1080P along with nice stills. Slow motion and good pan-ams would be nice.
Thanks!
I have both OPO and Google camera installed. I used them interchangeably. If I need a landscape shot, I will use OPO camera, if portrait, I tried to experiment. For quick shots with my son, I used the Google camera.

You can still use CameraNext (the stock camera) on CM12.1 and it'll perform as well as on the stock firmware, even recording video in 4K if you want to. I believe you can use CameraNext on Oxygen but you won't have 4K video.
ok, thanks for the replies. To make sure I understand, CameraNext is the camera that ships on the OPO as stock and you are saying that it works just as well on CM12.1. So, given that many sites indicate that the camera on the OPO is good (not great) the camera really shouldn't let me down.
Trying to decide if I should sell the G3 and get a OPO.
Thanks for the feedback

How can the camera app take 50MP if our phone's hardware can't support it?
The idol 3 can only take 13MP, even if someone ported the app that's all it will take

Working GCam apks (normal/wide). Be proud of having the best camera ever.

https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...efcomg-fix_OP6v0.3_MGC_5.1.018_FINAL_3.4A.apk
For those who were unsuccessful in trying those GCam by cstark, at https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-cstark27/ , the above 2 links, you have to install both of seperately, It's worth using the stunning LG G7 camera! We should thank the developer for working for the OP6 being working on the LG G7. My settings in both cameras were.
1) Pixels auto HDR+ enabled.
2)Final JPG quality HDR+ 100%.
The issue I got was if changed to HDR+ Auto, it becomes unusable. So keep HDR+ On always. If you have better settings, share them below. .
Both wide and normal results in stunning images. Definitely better than Stock Camera. I hope the future updates will improve our beasts. Enjoy.
Portrait is broken in both I think.
I can't get slowmotion recording to work. Either app just closes.

because too many of these GCams do not work with the LG G7, now I found a new apk with both modes working as included in single apk.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/cstark27_GCam_5.1.018_24_v4.2t2.apk
Wow thanks! What are the recommended advanced settings?
In case you're like me and glanced over the OP, it will not work until you change HDR to always on instead of auto - as mentioned by the OP. I'm going to check it out. I've been disappointed with the low light photo quality on the stock camera. Hoping this helps!

Hi. Does gcam have the same shutter lag as original camera app?
If it does, so how to fix that? Any tips is appreciated.
Sorry if it is not right place to ask. I am just frustrated and do not find any solution for that.
Thanks!
IMO gcam sucks compared to stock... This is why I have uninstalled it.
I have oneplus 7t pro mclaren.
Will it work with oneplus 7t pro mclaren?

GCam for HTC u12+

Hello crew!
I started this thread, to track on one place best working Gcam for HTCU12+.
UPDATE #1
Just found version from developer @potter of gcam for Moto G5+ that works nice on U12+
it's MGC_6.1.021 version with NIGHT SHIFT!
UPDATE#2
MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2.apk
aux switch setting (if enabled it works like switching front/rear camera) - THIS ENABLES TELEPHOTO CAM ON U12+
Turn on BUFFER FIX for Viewfinder fix.
try gcam versions from this link https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-san1ty/
Working versions:
Best in my oppinion:
BSG: MGC_5.1.018_MI8_V1b.apk
Arnova's v7.9.9: GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V7.9.9.apk ( Portrait mode front camera is slow)
BSG: MGC_6.1.009_MI8_V1a.apk ( Portrait mode front camera is slow and blurry )
In my testing latest versions are slow (low frame rate in camera viewer) and i' think the reason is ZSL turned on by default (when HDR+ is turned off - frame rate is normal).
My question for @Arnova8G2 or @cstark27 @Tolyan009 can you devs check this for us U12+ users... because we have great camera and full working GCam will bring us even better one.
Also when we get update to 9.0 things will be more compatible ( i hope somewhere around new year )
Put your expiriences, findings, test here, and let's all try to get better Gcam for our beloved U12+.
Regards!
I confirm, on U12 + the MGC_6.1.009_MI8_V1b.apk version works properly, selfi pictures are very green and fuzzy.
The MGC_6.1.013 version does not work with HDR +, it is very stablina, sometimes you can not take pictures.

Hey guys, what's the latest stable version with all the features?
Especially @5m4r7ph0n36uru I saw you posted informations about our smartphone on arnova thread, have you got a good app iteration?
I have tried one which gave me great Night Sight capture but the viewfinder is green so it's pretty unuseful when you don't have the time to switch between options to get the shot you want.

And now? Doesn't mean HTC is worse than OnePlus. Actually if you look at their software, it's quite bad. Like one of the worst RAM management (exists since nougat or Oreo on their devices and few others things. So who cares if OP5/t has Pie already. We better wait for a properly working and bugfree system, then having bugs on pie which many other OEM have too and which google doesn't fix and let it do others ?

The viewfinder I got, but it is buggy. The aux doesn't work at all. The zoom is just based off the wide angle.
You were fast to snap for me to read, but not so fast to answer that the mod actually doesn't use the telephoto camera at all, simply relying on digital zoom with the wideangle.

Hopefully, and I hope for more control over the telephoto mode. I say "mode" because it appears to have been omitted in all reviews and discussions here:
-when in 2x/telephoto mode, even in sometimes moderate light, like on a shadowy street during a bright day, the camera will automatically revert to using digital zoom on the wideangle lens to sort of approximate the telephoto. I think it's BS. I was shooting in Malta last week where it's super bright, went into a shadowy street that was still bright and the telephoto went to wideangle crop. So I lose pixels and the noise looks worse.

You know this isn't a MUST HAVE, but it's nice that there's development, but not necessary at all. It's not like I can't shoot with the stock software, or use my u11 with zero issues, or buy an S9+ or a Pixel 2.
I tried different versions and so night sight laggy. does anyone know the solution? i have buffer fix enabled etc. Pocco f1 have fix for this, i not install this because not have twrp(warranty)..
Ps. Sorry for my bad english
If you're in Europe, you don't loose warranty by unlocking Bootloader, TWRP, root etc...
