Has it come on yet? Is the back button working now?

This happened to my wife's Nokia 3 too where the back button is not functioning properly and the home button is not working at all even though already tried rebooting...

you need root to use this method
you can use use onscreen navigation buttons by editing build.prop.
Open any file explorer that supports root (es file explorer), go to /system and you'll find build.prop. Now open build.prop with text editor and add this line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot your phone.
Profit.

I don't know what it is with the Nokia 3 and the back button . Anyway if you can root the phone, there are apps that you can use to get onscreen navigation buttons, so you don't have to use the default one, which you can't see in the dark anyway. But if you don't want to root, there are other navbar button apps on the play store, only thing is they will probably cover some part of the screen

[Q] Has anyone else had the touch screen stop working after the new update (UK)

My TF has done this three times now since yesterday's FOTA. The device hasn't crashed as I can still use ADB and the notification bar relects the true battery status, time etc. I can also turn the screen on and off with the power button but I can't unlock it due to the screen not accepting touch input.
This happens regardless if use a custom rom or not.
Has anyone else had this experience?

My device had this issue, but with the 3/25(?) firmware (it came from overseas -- Taiwan). I basically thought I had a brick, but yesterday I used not-quite-pristine US system.img via a nandroid backup, and it brought it back to life. Still working, 18 hours later (and with the latest OTA update).
If you still have cwm / nandroid access, PM me and I'll post up the system.img that I used to fix my issue, yesterday. It was basically an image I found on Android Central, and I yaff2'd it and added my own md5sum so that nandroid could recognize it. My ongoing concern is that the permissions could be all screwy and softlinks could be broken. But, given the choice of that versus a bricked tablet, I could live with broken softlinks.
mine has done it 3 time while playing fruit ninja but only while playing that and not whit normal use as browsing and all that

Same here. Touchscreen stopped responding while playing that game, but that happened even before the OTA.
How can you get it to start responding again or force a reboot? I just got mine in the mail, pushed the lock button, and now it won't respond to any of my touches. Stuck at the lock screen.

Hold the power button for 10-12 seconds to force power it off. Release button. Wait a couple seconds. Power on as normal (a 5-6 second hold down of the power button). If still no joy... you're screwed perhaps.
ok thanks a lot holding the power button down for a long time did force it to turn off, now it's working again.

727r, "home" and "search" no longer working ...

Using stock ROM. New phone working OK for a few weeks. Just yesterday the "home" and "search" buttons no longer function properly. If I quickly double tap the home button, the lock screen will flash. Hitting the search button does nothing. When I tap the buttons, they light up but do not respond. Rebooted system, no change. I miss the home button. Any ideas?
Take it in and get a new one

I power off every night and restart in the morning. While this problem was occurring, I did power cycle a number of times.

I see, just trying to analyze variables.
If it keeps doing it root and install cwm..
reboot to recovery and I believe there is a keymap test in the advanced options that would rule that they are indeed physically broken. Odin back to stock and warranty that bad boy if the problem happens again

[Q] Pantech Flex phone Soft Keys And Status Bar are gone

Ok so i was using my Android Pantech Flex and the only reason i rooted it was to get rid of the soft keys and completly use my fullscreen, so i found this application called "Full!screen+" and also i downloaded this app called "LMT" which lets you use pie, i think its called like that to be able to just do gestures to go to home and back buttons etc. Unfortunately the Full!screen+ app got rid of the soft keys and status bar but it was no problem because i had the LMT application installed as well. The whole BIG PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I looked up a video on youtube to just remove the soft keys and be able to enable the status bar and what happened was that i got this app called ES FILE EXPLORER and went to "/system/build.prop" and at the very bottom i had to type this code "qcmu.hw.mainkeys=1" and i saved it, then i rebooted my phone. Then After the Reboot, My phone was showing this message every second saying"systemui has stopped working, i Looked it up in here and i saw a thread were it said to factory reset the phone to fix it and i did but everything got deleted no more root apps were installed But The FULL!SCREEN+ App was still activated but no longer installed? and thats when my soft keys dissapear and i still kept on getting the systemui. has stopped working, so now i cant navigate my phone to go back or press home button to go back unless i keep on rebooting. Even a font that i had installed still is actvated aswell. But Please Help ME! This has stressed me out because i just got my phone like 2 weeks ago and now i want to completly remove the root and keep it on stock rom Like a regular phone before it was rooted please Help Me i want my regular phone to be back to normal

[Q] Power Button broken, how to take screenshots now?

Alright so I gave my One S to my girlfriend a few months ago after she dropped her Nexus 4 in the toilet. Fast forward to now, and the power button is not working anymore. The plunger thing that presses into the microswitch broke off somehow. I got an app that can shut the screen off and another app that lets me use the volume buttons to wake up the phone (this one seems to have impacted battery life a little bit as its a persistent service that runs). Anyways, she asks me what to do now about screenshots and I figure a software method might work. Wrong. Nothing I can find in the play store worked, complaining of no root or invalid method or something like that. Ok, I figure i'll root it. Nope, cant do the power button + volume button combos to get into recovery mode or any of that.
So now what? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Using xposed modules can resolve this issue (need root).
If the phone run a sense 5 rom, sense 5 toolbox give you the possibility to remap your keys by several methods (longs press home, long press back, swipe up on homescreen, etc).
If you're not using sense 5, gravitybox can do the job aswell on any JB/KK rom.
Its all stock up to date 4.1 I think tmo USA one s. Can't really root it now without a working power button no? Not sense 5 either does gravitybox need root?

You can root, I've rooted my One S without a working power button. Just install one of the toolkits, such as the WinDroid Universal HTC Toolkit. It carries out all the commands such as booting into bootloader/recovery automatically via adb/fastboot commands.
Once you've rooted, you should install the Xposed Framework and install the Xposed Additions and Xblast Tools modules. I use X.Additions to remap the keys so that my volume key can act as a power key, and xblast tools to add extra shortcuts to the power menu including a 'Screenshot' button, which should help you with your original request

"Force touch" home button stopped working?

An hour or so ago everything worked fine, and then I updated my playstores pending apps (only Fleksy was pending) and the "force touch" feature of the phones seems to have completely stopped working, no matter what setting I turned on or off it didn't work...
Anyone has a clue as to what can cause this?
General notes:
1. Using stock Exynos unlocked variant
2. I am using package disabler (which btw didn't improve much my battery life, but that might be just me using the phone too much ) so maybe one of the packages decided that it depends on a disabled one?
I noticed mine stops working after a reboot and takes about a minute or two to get back up and running. Try a restart after clearing caches, if nothing still, reboot in safe mode. If it works, then its an app you installed interfering.

Mine also stop working after I restart my S8 Plus, it will again work if I wait around 20 minutes. Is this software or hardware problem? Any solutions?
Wish mine would stop working permanently! can't stand that feature forever brushing across it and waking the phone up!

How does it act up on your part? Mine would just stop working if I restart the phone & I should wait sometimes hours before it would work again.
Every time i'm installing my phone in my car mount I need to hold the phone from the bottom to install it correctly and brushing my fingers across the bottom is constantly waking the phone up, I've lowered the sensitivity to it's minimum.

I see, problem is not the same. On my part the tactile home button simply doesn't work when you press on it. I have to double tap to wake the phone when on lockscreen.

Unless your phone is unlocked no pins etc the phone will just go to the lockscreen, it's a useless feature, most people have the phones locked and thus it's a complete waste of time, it sounds to me the capacitive home button part of the screen was an afterthought because they couldn't install the fingerprint reader under the screen, just had a software update yesterday and still can't turn it off, basic stuff Samsung should enable an ON/OFF toggle switch for this.
Had the same problem with my S8 Plus India Variant(SM-G955 FD), I got my screen replaced from service center, Device was not rooted back then, so was under warranty.
But it is an hardware issue, as since then it has never gone off.
I mean when I press the home button hard it doesn't wake the phone up & no vibration. It happens when I restart the device then it would stop working for few minutes to a few hours sometimes, then it would start working again normally until I restart the phone again. I think this is just a software issue.
