Doom 3 runs great on our phone :) - OnePlus 5T Themes, Apps, and Mods

There's plenty of info on Doom 3 here on XDA but I just wanted to let you all know that it runs very well on our device.
I've just finished playing the whole way through using a Moga Pro, with graphics set to 'ultra' using the in-game menu, plus a few tweaks in the config file. A lot of the time the frame rate sits at 60, and on a few occasions slows down into the 40s. I'm guessing it gets lower than that at times as there is a little stuttering here and there but it's over very quickly and then recovers to maximum again.
I'm using the game data from an installation on my PC that I made using a CD ROM purchased for £5 years ago from the 'sold out' range of PC titles, but you can still download it from Steam I believe.
You need to have the game patched to version 1.3.1 on your PC before copying the 'base' folder over to your device. Place it inside a folder called 'diii4a' in internal storage, then download the free Diii4a app from the Play Store.
See below for screenshots showing what options I have checked/unchecked in the launcher app. I'll attach a couple of in-game screenshots and also my config file that sits in the base folder.
There are a few glitches in the game. In some places glass textures do not load. In some areas the teleportation lighting effects look blocky. I didn't bother trying any further tweaks as it didn't spoil the experience.
If you get choppy or distorted sound, just come out of the game and launch the diii4a app again.
Finally, note that in the diii4a launcher app you can configure the on screen controls in the game. You need to find somewhere to put the keyboard icon if you want to have access to the console in game. You can also adjust the opacity of the on screen controls so that they don't get in the way.

Oops, config file....
Also, there's a glitch where the ammo counter doesn't show on the mini-gun.

really want to play this but I don't have doom 3 so eh

Well, the app is free so you just need the game data. If you don't have a Steam account, you could buy a PC CD ROM of the game from eBay or somewhere like that. There will secondhand ones kicking around....
Edit. There are loads on eBay UK for under £4. Not sure where you are, but there will be some about if you want to keep things legit.

Please assist on Oneplus 5
hi guys!
Can you please help me? I'm trying to make it run on my OP5.
The diii4a launches and all that, but when I touch on New Game, I get stuck on the loading screen foreer.
the bar fills up, but nothing else happens... the screen just freezes.
I'm currently on Android Pie using Open Beta 35, non rooted device.

GTA III works flaswlessy on Tablet

All you have to do is purchase on phone and sideload it, it will let you download data directly from tablet, at 1mb per second, it took about 7 mins for the whole process, 400mb download and data install. Go buy now, best 5 bucks ever spent.
Ps. I bought using my evo 3d, which also runs the game perfectly.
Edit: before you start asking, how to sideload it:
Dropbox, gmail, titanium backup, blue-tooth, etc. It also verifys market, so make sure you buy it.
excellent news, I did download the app, but got error parsing package message. Also says incompatible with my p6200, lets hope for the best for us 3g guys.

Try downloading with phone, then sideload it. It should work since it works for dell streak, even though it is android 2.3, it is a 7 inch tablet. It worked on my SGT7+ wifi, it should work on Tmobile. Just make sure you purchase it.
Downloaded but seeing quite a bit of lagg. Replacing user data files with GSII files now hoping that they will fix it
Which version do you have? Wifi or 3g? Also did you just sideload apk, and download data from tab, or copy both. Mine has no lag whatsoever with the data download directly to tab. I also have no lag with the data downloaded from my evo 3d. They both work perfectly. I also recommend using the analog steering and driving controls.
I sideloaded the .apk and let it download, had lag, so I replaced the data files with ones for the GSII from a site I found. No lagg now, just had to reset the controls as it aligned them for the S2's resolution. I don't have another Android device so I had to go the less legal route to get the APK, but I have bought the game on the iPad so I don't feel bad about it. Thumbs down to Rockstar for not having the compatibility in order

Come one bro, dont include those details, as it can get you booted.
Also what type of lag were you referring to?
FPS issues in the entire game, basically. Driving around was very laggy and basically unplayable
The game is great and works better on 7 inches than the 10 inch iPad imho... just hope rockstar gets a grip and fixes compatibility settings. As a new Android user I can't even begin to express how utterly idiotic this issue with erroneous compatibility blocks is

Oh ok, mine still seems very responsive, Ill try other data file from other phones i have. Ill post results later. Yup, thats the problem with android fragmentation, but either way any android phone beats an iphone.
No...it doesn't. Believing that is just pure bias as there is no, and probably never will be, an OS that beats the other on everything. That's why I have one of each.
Youre still very new to this community, give it some time, to the infite modifications and freedom android gives you.
Customizing something all the way to Mars is nice, but still doesn't make up for lack of apps. I've been using the iPad in ways that physically aren't possible on Android because of the lack of certain apps and types of apps
give me an example and Ill try to tell which apps are available. I have over 400 apps installed. I go thru the apple catalog and I only see nonsense apps, or social apps, how many of those do you need. But its true there are more apps, but almost all are already in android. Maybe not the market but getjar, amazon market, appbrain and more.
Ok, here's a challenge for you, and if you do manage to find an app, you will be my hero:
One of my most used apps on the iPad is a certain type of note taking app. I say a certain type rather than a specific app as there are quite literally dozens of these available on iOS now. This type of app will let me import documents - minimum requirement is PDF, but more types is better - and write on top of them. So far Android has alternative. Then you get to the most important feature, magnification mode. The way this works in all of said dozen apps is that you have a window at the bottom of the screen that shows a small portion of the screen magnified. This allows you to write big letters and have it be shrunk down. These boxes are resizable and can be set for various zoom levels. They also have auto-advance, meaning that when you get to the end of the box it automatically moves it so you just write from the beginning again. This way you can write sentence upon sentence just as you would on paper, and just as accurately, even with a normal capacitive stylus. Other features that are often in these apps include the ability to insert images, machine text, web clips, audio recordings etc. You will also need to have the ability to export PDF. There are apps on android that can annotate PDF, but not at that level. All semester I've been using the iPad and nothing but the iPad both in lectures and outside, scanning paper documents using Scanner Pro and an external camera, annotating them (this is why just text editing is useless - I need to be able to have 100% control over size, placement, angle etc of the text on a page, underline and make arrows and drawings all over the place, not just write some text down) and storing them for reading. Just had an exam with 900 pages worth of curriculum and notes, all read on the iPad, and created on the iPad to begin with in the case of notes.
That kind of app in particular is crucial, and it has to be able to do exactly what I mention here, no "almost" with missing the magnification mode etc. They even provided all the lecturers with iPads this fall, and they've been using the same types of apps connected to projectors via VGA (try finding a VGA adapter for the galaxy tab, btw ).
This is just the ultimate example though, as it's not only the type of app I've used the most, but it's an app that is 100% productivity. No widgets, games or anything like that - it's a productivity issue, and an issue for Android's usability in settings outside of people who like to watch videos and play with ADWlauncher (which also includes me in my spare time, hence why I have an Android tablet).
Other examples off the top of my head: Splashtop's secondary product, xDisplay. It doesnt exist on Android (yet), and it's an example of an app where I don't care if there are "similar products" - it's the system I'm invested in and missing apps from major services like that is an issue. I could also bring up apps that have some sort of equivalent, but far from anything that works as good. Goodreader on the iPad -> ezPDF on Android, much less powerful app. Scanner Pro -> CamScanner, same thing, and they even broke 7.0 plus compatibility in the last update. There's no direct access app for the educational system my school uses, Classfronter, which isn't really an issue due to browser access but still an issue as it's slower. No good alternative to Reeder either, not that I've found anyways.
Education in itself is an interesting field. There are so many apps that make the iPad a powerful tool for both teachers and students on iOS. How about the ability to annotate documents wirelessly using Syncpad, an app that streams the image on screen to any HTML5 browser that's connected to the internet (not just local wifi)? Used that one a lot. Replaynote, letting you do notes and commentary and have it automatically turned into a video that you can send off to help people. Dictionary apps; when you study ENglish like I do, "a dictionary" isn't enough. You need as many as possible. That's iOS, not android.
Enough productivity. Fun apps. BBE's app has brought a music enhancement technology, that so far has only been licensed to Cowon for portable use, to iOS. There's no comparison to EQs in apps like Poweramp. Flipboard, awesome RSS reader that I use instead of Reeder when I want to relax, not read feeds for work. Tried Pulse, not the same, or even close. Neither is Currents. Zinio is luckily on both OSes though there are several magazines that are only available through Newsstand. Connecting the iPad to a synthesizer via USB and playing around with it on an amateur level is always fun.
Enough examples.
I love my 7.0 Plus. I love how personal the homescreen is after tweaking it, Google Talk on it is awesome, it's the device I reach for to check email in the morning, I love using a Wiimote for games, i use it as a mouse and keyboard for my PC in bed, remote control utorrent, browse the web, as a flashlight at night (LOVE that), video support makes me weep tears of joy, read books that aren't scanned A4 documents (and hence possible to reformat for 7 inches) etc. It's a great device, which is why I have it. However it isn't perfect. There's plenty of room for both OSes in my life, for the exact reason that neither is perfect.
Repligo reader for first, lets you write on top of pdf files (shapes, text, highlight, selections,w/e), I use it in class alot, but also lean to quick office since I just use camera to copy what i dont feel like typing.
Currents instead of pulse, much better. Also with repligo everything should be capable to be done, what ios app are you refering to which can do all that.
splashtop is on android also.
I think I answered what you needed, to long to read over again, while trying to study for nueuro final.
How did you get the GTA apk to your Tab? I tried AppInstaller, but I get an "access denied" error when I try to export it?
*edit* Nevermind. I was able to get the apk using Root Explorer. Can't wait to fire it up!

you need root, and you can use root explorer to copy, to sd card. Make sure you click on r/w to be able to write and copy.

GTA3 Arms Shortage crashing and other problems

I'm having a bit of a problem with GTA3. On the Arms Shortage mission given by the cop on the second island every time I drive into the marker in the army base the game crashes straight to my home screen, no force close or anything. If I get out and walk into the marker the game takes control and makes the player do a stupid lap around the base, resulting in death.
The game also takes control of the player every time I complete a casino mission and makes him walk into a wall continuously, the only way to regain control is to quit and resume.
Anyone have similar problems or know what to do?
gta 3 crash
i got the exact same problem, i think its the 1.3 update that causes it, i have not found any fix for this yet, i hope Rockstar makes an update for FC and crashes :S
I hadnt any problems with this mission.
If u want i can upload my sd files and u try it with your saves.

I haven't had a single problem with my GTA III game and I've had it since release but have only started playing it since the 1.3 patch.
The 1.3 Update is great. The only problem i´ve had so far is that when i press the aim button when i have the M16 rifle equipped nothing happens. I can´t aim manually with it. This didn´t occur in Version 1.0. Anyone else having this problem?

Could you please? It's driving me mad, I can't advance anymore lol.
Also which button is to aim? I thought it was auto aim only :/.
It´s the menu button on the gamepad. Under the d pad. Just works with the sniper rifle, the rocket launcher and the M16 which obviously doesn´t in 1.3 with this button. You´ll need to use the onscreen keys to get into manual aim with the M16.
Anyone else having these problems?

This is happening due to the High Cpu & Ram demand on the game as soon as you drive into the position, if you check the Xperia Play Themes & Apps section, my CAR MODV2 is available which was designed for people which there game crashes like yours, word of advice though, anytime you drive a police car it will be slow (speed)

Nah lad thats not it, thanks though. Don't really see how editing the handling.cfg is going to affect ram/cpu usage?
ATM I'm redownloading the sd card files as I believe some of the mission scripting is corrupted, the only reason I haven't tried this before is that my wifi connection is terrible, going to take a while lol.
If anyone could upload or send me their SD card files it would be a great help, when my wifi craps out at over 23% GTA3 won't boot and I have to delete and start over again, never ending cycle lol.
Sry guys, I just tried the 1.3 update, and I was wondering if I can can set the movement controls to the touchpads. I read that on xperiagamer, but I can't find anything in the game options, I can only move with the dpad. Maybe you just can't move with the touchpads?

When you enter the location, aload of police cars start chasing you & you have to escape, due to this your CPU usage is quite high & ram & probably cant cope
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
It has nothing to do with cpu or ram usage, it's just a glitch in the game. There are no more people or cars than in any other mission.
The way I got around the glitch, though, is by first walking into the trigger area (the blue circle of light thing), instead of driving into it. Then, as he jogs around the area ignoring user input, he will get close enough to the tank for the "door" on-screen button to appear, which you can press to break his jogging cycle.
He'll run over to the tank, try to get in, but it's locked, and you can then help the one-armed man kill the Columbian Cartel attackers.
Hope this helps others! Sure was a hassle for me lol.
Edit: I'm playing this on a Droid Bionic, btw, not the xperia
When i had this mission i take ol and use them as barricade and than destroy cartel using granades. Try it maybe it helps...
Of course i did it on r800i

modern combat no gyro?

I recently baught modern combat 4 on my s2 and it had gyro option and it was great' then i got it for my tab 7 2, but it didnt have any gyro option, and then i tried moern combat 2 (original tab version ) and it had a gyro option but it doesnt do any thing, and i also tried nova 3 and the gyro isnt working either, and i really want the gyro cause gyro +touch = perfect play, so if there is any soliion i hope u can help.
Thanks in advance
I have Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour on my tab2 and didn't know there was ever a gyro option lol. What is it supposed to do? Change ammo or weapon mode like in Dead Space? I'll check on mine and see if there is any gyro. By the way, I found the game absolutely horrible... and I usually love all combat games :/
EDIT: I'm in OPTIONS > CONTROLS and the three control options I see are "classic controls" (slide it to the left for the other two), "screen tap" and "virtual sticks".
No gyro here.
Loaded the game and tried all kinds of things, shaking, gyro rotate left/right, up/down, and nothing happened.
Keep in mind that, if you got it from legit Google Play, the store will send the correct app for your device. Tablet versions of the game simply may not have gyro enabled by the developer, whereas your S2 version of the app will be correctly designed to make better use of the phone design. I've run into this a hundred times while testing non-legit sourced app versions, for example: Plants vs Zombies, the Galaxy S2 version is a totally different file size than the tablet version and won't load on my tab2... but it works great on my Droid 2!
You could try something, sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't... It isn't supposed to work so just be surprised if it does lol:
On your S2, find the .apk file for the game. It should be in /data/app/ folder and titled something like "com.gameloft.android.anmp.GloftM4HM-1.apk" or something close.
On your tab2, find the same .apk file and rename it, simply adding a ".bak" to the end of the name.
This is so you can rename it back to the original .apk easily if this doesn't work.
Copy the game .apk file from the S2 to the tab2 into the /data/app/ folder.
You usually do NOT need to actually install the app, just paste it in there.
Reboot and look in your app drawer for the game and run it.
It might run, it might not, but you may be able to have gyro this way. The graphics will probably be all kinds of jacked up, it will probably ask you to download more sd card data (cuz of the different version), and it probably won't be worth the trouble. But I like trying new things, to see what works and doesn't, so I would try it just for fun. Can't hurt anything. If it's a fail, just go into the data/app/ folder on the tab2 and delete the .apk you copied over and then rename the proper original .apk back to the stock.

thanks for the fast reply and i tried what u told me to and it didnt work, so it looks like the game doesnt support gyro on tabs
edit: aw i just saw videos of ppl playing it on tabs with gyro like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Irp7zQt54gU
The answer is easy.
The tab 2 doesnt have a gyroscope
Check the specs if u want

what if, it still has accelerometer which i played black ops zombies with, unless the game doesnt support it and it only suorts gyrocope.
and f so sn't there any way to ........like simulate it?
It doesnt support accelerometer
They are both completely different technologies and impossible to simulate

Monopoly Deal

I converted a .jar file of the game. It was a good trial and error with the different kinds of Monopoly Deal java games out there. This is not prefect, but playable on my Lenovo S890. Just had to fix some settings. After you install it, launch it. It will ask you to download App Runner. Choose download from netmite because you won't find it anymore on the Play Store. But I also uploaded the .apk file of App Runner and the QR Code. After everything is installed, run the app, then click your menu button and click settings menu, go to settings option and click Auto detect Game Canvas, then click back. If it's too small, you can go to the systems menu and play around with the zoom display. Try playing around with the settings to suit your taste. The display is set to 240x320. To me, that is the best option I can do (I am not a programmer, just a die hard Monopoly Deal fan who wants the program on his phone). If anyone can make a better one to fit 16:9 (540x960 on my phone) I would deeply appreciate it. I used the site netmite (just google it), to convert the java game. I also included the java game for the Nokia 5800 (which has a touch screen). But when I convert it, the ratio is all screwed up. Maybe some good soul can figure this out. Have fun.:fingers-crossed:

Funny you say this, I keep googling "Monopoly Deal Android" just to make sure no one has made it yet
I'm working on a University project which had me make a team to make the game and release it on the Play Store, so Hope we finish it so you can play it! (I think we'll have a different name & design due to copyright issues but It'll be the same game )
I managed to run it, but it was decentralized screen

How is your experience so far with the Quest ?

Hello!
As you know it is one of the futuristic technologies, Please share your experience so far!
Games - Screen resolution - Sound - ergonomically...etc
Thanks!
The best thing I think I have ever bought! Has a few software quirks but is solid . Especially the tracking(hand, head and your physical location in space). Side loading any APK via Oculas Screen is a god send. My brain has a hard time remembering it not reality. And there a lot of games and apps already via oculas and third-parties. Can't recommend it more. Got to be seen to be believed.
Absolutely love it. I got to test it a while before it was released, and I absolutely knew I needed to have one. Beat Saber is amazing, and everyone that I've shown it to was really impressed.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get robo recall to load, so there seem to be a few bugs waiting to be ironed out (might be because I'm traveling between Europe and the US, and the store had some issues with the location?)
I Must say iv loving the quest so far. coming from a psvr the freedom of no wires is amazing. somebody has already mentioned the sidequest pc app, the helps you upload and download software from your quest, also gives you access to the full android on the quest, so you can link Bluetooth joypads and head phones. my quest also had 5 hidden demos of which 2 still worked this was taking up about 2Gb of storage and i could remove them via the full settings app which i now have access to. i have also loaded on some 3D Movies and find that skybox was the best app to view them, with it, its easy to select SBS or Under/Over and the soundtrack. As for Games Beatsaber already allows for custom tracks using the Questsonginstaller, iv not get over 100 tracks on my quest. and as for emulation, i really like the Virual Boy Emulator of Oculus Go which works perfect on quest in full 3D, but you do need to pair a Bluetooth controller to use it. but its great. As for the normal quest games, Vader Immortal, Face Your Fears 2 and Robo Recall are the main ones iv tried. they are all great, the tracking was great and now been able to do full room scale was a game changer for me. the games make visual compromises to get them working, but still looked good and ran great for me. if a new games was coming to both PSVR and QUEST i would get the quest version not just for the ease of setup and the visual hit was`t that much of a deal for me.
Thats about it, iv loving it so far, there are still a few more quest games i want come payday. If you want to try any of the above things above like me, i recommend looking up a tutorial on youtube and they tend to have all the links you need in the description.
cheers

A fair number of them can actually be pulled via adb and sideloaded on the quest
I was in 2 minds about the quest or the rift s.
so glad i went with this - as if you sideload ALVR its basically a wireless Rift as well. And i have essentially a mobile VR gaming console - i can take it to a field and simply go mad!!
simply love it! jsut need to know how to pair bluetooth gamepads ?
i have created a seperate thread asking this question.

just search for the APK file and OBB if needed
sideload the apk and copy over the OBB (if needed)
I have a very annoying issue. Probably anybody faced it and found a solution.
Sometimes Moss and Robo Recall which I bought in the store ceasing to launch and shows the three dots loader infinitely. It fixes only after reinstalling. So I lost saves every time.

Try using the patched apk and obb files - they work fine for me on robocall
so ironic how the pirate versions work better than the versions you pay for in many cases lol
Memorable experiences?
Exercise.
Eye contact in a porn video. Kind of frightening.
RecRoom paintball.
Chatting to what sounds like a 4 year old in BigScreen.
The pirating warning thread. We don't know this device well and I worry about the messiness of sideloading with a company like Facebook and Oculus. What data do they really have? I'm really looking forward to seeing how this thing is pulled apart.

you bring up a very interesting point with regards to piracy and FB.
You almost think....by making this thing on Android, and making it so easy to register as a developer and sideload apps - they have made it almost too easy to simply sideload games rather than pay some of the exageratingly overpriced tags!
Some of the games are extremely good IMO - namely:
Superhot
Creed
Sairento
Vadar Immortal.
there are many more which are very good also.
Yes the porn is scarey - i have stopped using it for fear of developing expectations in real life which are unattainable looool
So far I am pretty impressed with this headset. One thing I do not like is the head strap that comes with it. Totally ruins the whole experience for me. My HTC Vive is pretty much obsolete compared to the headsets I have now, so I used my 3D printer to print some adapters and put my Vive headstrap with the integrated headphones on my Oculus Quest and it is so much more comfortable. I wish the library for apps and games available were a little more robust, but overall they have some really good games that showcase this headset. Last night I just realized I could turn guardian completely off, so I was able to enjoy playing Red Matter while sitting comfortably in my recliner without my legs activating guardian because I was out of the play area. I did not think I would be enjoying this headset as much as I have been. It's not perfect, but definitely worth what I paid, for what it is.

Hey buddy - if you use sidequest you can sideload all sorts of developer apps.
as you had a Vive i would recommend you use ALVR - this will enable you to use the quest as if it was a Vive or a Rift and play all your PC games with it - and the best thing is it works wirelessly!
Enjoy!!
I have used sidequest to load Root Explorer, Virtual Desktop, and a settings.apk I found for android online, to access some of the extra settings that are initially hidden. Not that there is much you can actually do, with out rooting and/or installing TWRP or something. I tried using Virtual Desktop to use the Quest wirelessly like a Vive or a Rift, but I was not really pleased with the performance, and I had my PC wired directly to the router. I also have a fairly decent PC so I think its more of the app performance than an issue with my PC, which can probably be improved with updates overtime. I was thinking about trying ALVR in the next day or so to see how it is. Virtual Desktop was not bad, but I was hoping to have a little bit better graphics fidelity. I really hope we will get root eventually.

I wouldn't recommend VD to do what you want to do.
ALVR works seemlessly and i can play all my VR PC games on my quest perfectly.
ALVR is not intended as a VD solution - it is specifiacally to use with Steam VR/Oculus and in a sense simply tricks your pc into thinking you have connected a Rift or Vive headset and then displays and lets you play accordingly.
Remember to set the height offset to 15 otherwise it will look like you are on the floor....lol
