Rooted Fire HD 10 7th Generation Running Fire OS 5.6.0.0 - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 General

I was able to get rooted and switch to SuperSU on Fire OS 5.6.0.0 by following this guide. I used the google mirror for kingoroot pc since the link on their website is dead. After installing and opening kingoroot pc, it asked me if I wanted to update. I did that and it updated to 1.5.6. I followed the guide for everything else. I don't know if it works on any other fire tablets since I only have the Fire 10 7th Gen. Hopefully it works for y'all.
E: Based on the replies, it seems like it works on HD 10's only.

This could be good... have to try it.

Not working.
Edit: Seems to work for many HD 10. Unfortunately not for mine.

Should have guessed that .If that doesn't work for 5.3.2.0 why would it work for 5.6.0.0? :crying:

Everytime i goto remove root from kingroot, it reboots.

If we can get to that point, can't we use the root accessed ADB shell to push su and BusyBox to system/bin and push SuperSU.apk to system/app for getting root?

Rooting works as in OP
Device: HD 10 (2017) that came with 5.4.1.0 (updates blocked on router)
Like the OP, I was able to root using KingoRoot. Next, I followed the guide to unroot, install SuperSU, and remove KingoRoot. The only "challenge" I encountered was with the unrooting using KingoRoot. After a couple of reboots and rerooting, I realized the instructions call for unrooting using the PC app (not the unrooting option within the Android app).

Just as you did to root with KingoRoot, run the KingoRoot app on your PC and connect the tablet when prompted. Once recognized, you will be presented with an "unroot" option (don't remember the exact title of the option, but it should be obvious). Click on it and wait for it to complete (you will see a confirmation dialog on the tablet as well).
Make sure you have an active shell prompt with su before you unroot.

Just tried a couple of times for the hell of it on Fire HD 8 7th gen on 5.4.0.1 (or 5.4.1.0 cant remember) but it failed.

Tried on HD 8 (2016) 5.4.0.0 and failed.

kingoroot gave "root failed" on HD 8 Generation 7 5.6.0.0

What do you mean by 'failed'?

Root failed for me too for a Fire 8 HD 7th gen

Based on the replies, it seems like it works on HD 10's only, which would make sense cause they have different SOCs this gen and firmware is probably a bit different.

Would be cool if this works on other 5.6 devices.

Working
Root is working for my Amazon Fire HD 10 2017 as well.

[Q] Rooting Hisense Sero 7 LT

Okay i recently picked up a Hisense Sero 7 LT and i know there is a rooting method for the Pro version of the sero 7 but i haven't seen any work done with the LT model so i'm going to be working on a method to root it but i need a little help from the people with a Pro model, so if you have a Sero 7 Pro and would like to help that would be great. What i need is for the rooted Pro users to do is to upload the init.rc file in the root of the device as on the LT model / is read-only and the init.rc file isn't set to read in its permissions, next i need you to run 'ls -lR /data' in a root terminal so i can see if any files are vulnerable to the symbolic link root method. Thank you and i hope we can root this device.

yeah that method wont work with executing 'su' from /data/local/tmp because /data is mounted as nosuid which sucks..
I know one-clicks aren't the best way...
...but this seemed kind of interesting:
http www dot srsroot dot com (sorry, too new to post links )
They actually list the E270BSA in their "Tested models" page - but then they also say they have an average 48% success in rooting phones :/ From another forum I saw that their program tries 5 different root exploits.
The program is free - can anyone with a Sero 7 Lite give it a go and see what it says/does?
Hey guys - Klown80 hooked me up. SRSRoot didn't work - don't bother with it - but the new "end-to-end" Android vulnerability exploiter does (if your version of Android doesn't have both bugs patched already.)
On your device, get the app "SRS AppScanner", run it, and see if it says either of the two bugs are still "Vulnerable."
If either of them still is, go to http cydiaimpactor dot com and get the Impactor (which runs on your PC). Extract it (no install needed) and try the default exploit "# drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su". If it works, presto! You've got a working su binary and are rooted! Install e.g. SuperSU afterwards to give root access to other programs that need it. It's worked for me on two tablets so far (Sero 7 Pro and Sero 7 Lite) and I'm interested to try it on others!
(Oh, you'll need to have your device good to go for adb already too, for this to work. Seems like a pretty obvious thing to expect on XDA )

So I have rooted the sero 7 lt. This was achieved using cydia impactor - GOOGLE IT.
(see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340693 for instructions)
Its loading the custom recovery I can't figure out. Something to do with signature verification. The Cut and dry recovery included (hold volume down and power from power off till logo appears, then release power only. At android belly open screen hold power and press volume up to access menu.) Won't matter can't toggle signature verification. Nothing will install. SuperSU and BusyBox installed from within. There is half the battle... time to win the war.

And that is the stock recovery you are talking about, all android devices have it. It is not possible to turn off signature verification within the stock recovery, hence the need for a custom recovery. The only thing you can flash within the stock recovery are OFFICIALLY signed zips made by your device manufacturer.

[Q] Wanting to root LG K3

I just went from an older than dirt LG optimus slider (android 2.3.5...hence older than dirt!...But I still miss the slide out keyboard! ) to an LG K3, running Android 6.0.1. I'd like to root it so I can remove some of the bloatware, and to get Link2SD running so I can move stuff to the SD card. However, Kingroot shows "No exploit available." and there isn't a TWRP recovery for it yet either. Anyone got any ideas as to how to root this thing? I've tried kingroot, oneclickroot, and even poot (which made me giggle like a 5 year old, once I found a clean version anyway.) to no avail.
Still searching for some hope.. so far very very little.. ran all the app root which all fail dramatically.
I have went on offensive trying to find a version of twrp that is also a negative.. any seniors want to give us some light?
Well, since there are at least three threads concerning this phone, maybe someone will give us a hand in one of them! I actually have a spare one with a shattered but still functional (due to the skinomi holding it together!) screen that I'd be willing to let someone use for research purposes.
I am in the same boat about this phone. I currently have about 8 of them for Perk and Check points and I would love to be able to root for them. I can make a small donation ($50) to whoever can get a root developed to this device so I can do my own will with it. Very serious about my offer =) Subscribed!
I can offer a small donation as well ($25). I have the Virgin Mobile version of the K3, if that makes a difference. I'm not too tech-oriented, so the easier the root method is to follow, the better

I'm not sure if I need the SuperSU binaries or not. I'm looking to both remove manufacturer-installed bloatware and to install link2sd so that I can use the SD card. I've read a little bit about custom recoveries and I don't think I want to go down that road.
The two previous phones that I had - the LG Tribute and the LG Optimus - were fine once I rooted them and removed stuff and then installed link2sd. I liked the fact that I had more control over the phone, but I didn't feel the need to install any custom recovery. I remember the root process for the other two phones did include installing SuperSu, but I don't know if that is required for what I want to do.
Thanks!
Sure. The root that I've achieved will give you full root privilege over the /system partition. You can debloat, deodex, edit build.prop, install BusyBox, etc etc. As we speak I'm putting together a brief tutorial on rooting the LG K3, with links to needed files.
Guide - Rooting the LG K3
Disclaimer: As with any rooting procedure, you are doing this at your own risk. I am not responsible for bricked or inoperable devices. However, I will provide support in the event of such a travesty.
1. On your Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 PC or laptop, download and install the LG United Driver v4.1.1 from this link.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByS9qDHT607jTVFBbVEwUi1vVjg/view?usp=drivesdk
2. On your LG K3, go to SETTINGS, ABOUT PHONE, and find BUILD NUMBER. Tap approximately 8 times until DEVELOPER OPTIONS is enabled.
3. Enable USB DEBUGGING and OEM UNLOCKING.
4. On your PC or laptop, download and install the latest iRoot version for Windows from this link:
http://www.iroot.com
5. Connect your LG K3 to your PC or laptop using a proper micro USB syncing cable.
6. Launch iRoot on your PC or laptop and ensure your phone is connected as a media device.
7. Follow any on-screen prompts that may appear on your device's screen during the process.
8. Your device may reboot one or more times during the process. This is normal.
9. Upon completion, iRoot should indicate that your device is rooted and a super user app will be installed on your device. If the procedure fails, simply try again. It will achieve root.

MotoJunkie, I installed the LG United drivers to my PC using the link you provided. I then downloaded iRoot and when I tried to install it I received this message:
"The program can't start because libaapt.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem."
It went on to list these other dll's as missing: Common.dll, PhoneManageru.dll, and DuiLib_u.dll.
A Google search turned up the possibility of a virus or corruption as the culprit, among other things, so I'm running some scans now. Any thoughts?

Go to the iRoot official website and download the most recent version of iRoot. Install it from your download. It is very possible that the file I provided is devoid of the required .dll files for installation. I will correct that in my post. Thank you for pointing it out.
SO far, I have tried this on one of the 8 phones I have. I have restarted, rebooted, basically followed the steps in order. Downloaded new direct from the iroot - i have had 8 attempts, nothing, all i Get is root failed. Does it matter if it's a Boost Mobile device prepaid?

It is possible that there is a difference, possibly in the firmware build, or in some type of carrier specific protected or encrypted partition. To clarify I used this exact method on a LGLS450 Virgin Mobile branded. The method worked first time. You should perhaps try Kingoroot, the PC version. Also, RootGenius and KingRoot, PC versions, have proven effective in the past on some of these budget LG devices. Please keep me posted on your progress.

FireOS 5.4.0.1

As of August 25 or 26, 2017, the current updated FireOS version is 5.4.0.1. Last build date prior to this was on May 31, 2017. As of this post, the updated OS is not yet available on Amazon's site.
Please comment if you receive any errors when attempting to 'uninstall' Amazon Apps, whether automatically or manually. Some users report errors.
Please download Droid Examiner or Droid Hardware Info or a like minded app (these types of apps vary from developer to developer. I use these two primarily).

Yes, 5.4.0.1 broke the junkware uninstall process referenced in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/general/root-required-remove-amazon-bloatware-t3636796
As the "pm uninstall --user 0 xxx.yyyyy.zzzzzz" command runs, you get
Failure [DELETE_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR]
after every line.

What a shame. I wonder why it took them so long?
Is it possible to downgrade a 2017 model back to 5.4.0.0 and disable the OTA updates? I never understood that needed to be done and now it's probably too late.

5.4.0.0 CAN be downgraded to 5.3.2.1, but NOTHING lower or you will brick. i am not sure if the model matters or not.
How about 5.4.0.1? I want to downgrade so I can install Play Store and Titanium Backup to uninstall all the crap.

I was able to install Play Store and have it working but still not satisfied with all the other restrictions!!! I returned it yesterday! I suggest you get a normal Android tablet and not this crappy locked up Fire tablet!
Let me know if you still need to know how to install Play Store...
Titanium backup will not work on 5.4.0.1 because it doesn't have root and you need root access to run TB. *SIGH*

Please clarify.
Did you mean to say that you have succeeded in downgrading to Fire OS 5.4.0.0 "FROM" Fire OS 5.4.0.1 ?
Thank you.

If it works, put the file linked above into your ADB folder. Then you would power off device, reboot to recovery, press and hold volume down first then press power button (hold both at the same time) until you see the Amazon logo. On the recovery screen, select ADB update. From an ADB window, type:
adb sideload name.of.file
A few users said they hard bricked their tablet trying to downgrade. So be careful. Not sure if true or not, but just warning you.

Thanks for the response, and the warning. I am definitely curious if this would work, but perhaps I will hold off until someone braver can confirm that this works or doesn't.
If anyone out there has tried downgrading 5.4.0.1 to 5.4.0.0 successfully, by side-loading 5.4.0.0, please let me know.
Thanks!

I just tried to downgrade my Fire HD8 (7th Gen) from 5.4.0.1 to 5.4.0.0 by sideloading it and it just said that the signature verification failed. I then rebooted. It did not brick my device.

Users are reporting that a Fire 7 (current generation) running FireOS 5.4.0.1, CAN be downgraded to 5.4.0.0. It appears the HD 8 CANNOT be. However I am not sure how this is possible. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge about the specifics can chime in.

The Fire 7, 7th generation apparently can be downgraded yes.

Fire HD8 8th Gen gets OS update to 6.3.1.2

I just now received the 6.3.1.2 OS on my 8th gen Fire HD 8. The build number is 1852.
It's still loading the update, so I don't know if it messes with my launcher hijack or not. Should know soon.
I think the main OS version is the same one that came on the recent 9th gen Fire 7 tablets.
Just thought I'd share. We'll see what happens.
What's new/working on Fire OS 6.3.1.2
On another Fire HD 8 we updated.
Does mtk-su still works? I didn't unlock my tablet yet, waiting to know if it still works for upgrading.

Not with latest FireOS build(s); vulnerability apparently blocked/patched. Can still unlock and root, just no temp root via mtk-su.
Can anyone catch this OTA Update and post the link?
Can someone test out if it's possible to downgrade to 6.3.0.1 via recovery without bricking? If it ends up not booting, you can recover it through the amonet+hardware method.
Can you block the internet access from OTA updates using NoRoot Firewall from Google Play Store
Can you also downgrade it the Fire OS 6.3.1.2 to 6.3.0.1 via ADB sideload without bricking (Wipe all the cache and data first, before downgrade it). If your Fire tablet gets boot-loop or bricking, Get solution: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd...d-8-2018-downgrade-unlock-root-t3894256/page1

Typically VPN based firewalls (VPNs in general) do not function well on FireOS. Are you stating NoRoot Firewall operates correctly on FireOS v6 ... or simply speculating based on feature set?
How can install CH play on this update? Thank you

Yea, he's posted the same thing in several threads w/o substantiation. I challenged the assertion in one thread but have yet to receive a response.
Might work, just need some evidence it doesn't yield a (soft) brick. Seems strange Amazon would tweak the bootloader given changes baked into 6.3.1.2 and above.

Just to confirm, downgrade to 6.3.0.1 is NOT POSSIBLE using stock recovery (It will result in a brick).
Code:
[4646] [ANTI-ROLLBACK] Processing anti-rollback data
[4650] mmc_rpmb_send_command -> req_type=0x1, type=0x4, blks=0x1
[4654] mmc_rpmb_send_command -> req_type=0x2, type=0x4, blks=0x1
[4657] [ANTI-ROLLBACK] PL: 6 TEE: 103 LK: 2
[4658] [ANTI-ROLLBACK] Checksum validated
[4658] [ANTI-ROLLBACK] LK version mismatch!
[4659] [ANTI-ROLLBACK] L: 2 R: 1
LK-Version has been updated from 1 to 2. (TZ and PL remain at the same version)
Yeah, that makes sense, @k4y0z, because someone else reported getting a brick. This AmznUser guy, I suspect if he did try it, it was using TWRP. That's why I emphasized stock recovery...

I suspect he didn't try at all, since 6.3.1.2 can still be rooted fine using Magisk when unlocked, no downgrade necessary.
To be honest I don't understand most of what this guy is posting
