Are you rooted? Substratum works with our Oreo. Some themes don't.

I think you'll end up with Andromeda anyway as that's needed on Oreo if you're not rooted.

You need both on Oreo. Andromeda allows Substratum to work on Oreo without root. Yes you'll need to purchase Andromeda.

Substratum is free but it will only work with root. Without root you do need Andromeda.

I manually updated my note 8 to oreo..i have purchased sungstratum when i was in naugat..why the heck am i still need to purchase andromeda? I thought when i updated to oreo the purchased sungstratum would also be updated to andromeda. Does sungstratum and andromeda made by different devs?

Same devs. You need Andromeda if you don't have root. If you had root before on nugat, maybe it was lost in the upgrade to Oreo.

I download substratum and then purchased the samsunng addon for substratum (sorry if i forgot the actual name) when I was on nougat.

I sent an email to the developer for refund of previous purchase of addon for samsung as its no longer under usage but no reply.

I was reading up on this whole Substratum thing as I bought and downloaded. I did get a nice black theme going with one error / big. Once I changed my Samsung theme to a some black it went away (I had overlapping numbers in different fonts in my dialer ).

In my opinion an app named as theme galaxy (by project VIVID) is more usable and convenient than substratum as it has many more options and settings than substratum which just lets theme colors, nav buttons and status bar.

I believe this isn't just some flash able zip tweak. I think framework-res.apk needs to be decompiled and patched with this animation, and every ROM has a different framework-res. But I too am interested in this tweak.

Haha I've been trying to port us an LG ROM like a mofo!! I love their UI.
I'm really impressed with OEM skins these days. Just imagine one day where these firmwares will be desirable and stock android will be more of a guideline and less of "I must have stock just to live" situations. Until this device it was always
1. Get device
2. Root
3. Figure out how to get AOSP(cm10/aokp) running.
But I dream of when we can choose.. where every device ships with AOSP and on first boot you are greeted with an option of downloading a skin. After you log into Google play you can go to skin section and download any OEM skin (after paying the $19.99 one time fee of course ) then anyone could "develop" for whatever "skin" they want.
If you could pay 3.99 for HTC widgets on aosp with Sony walkman for .99 and the LG launcher for 1.99 wouldn't you? I mean Jesus the list goes on..
I say an .apk should work on an Android device... period. The only limitation should android version (can't be backwards compatible forever)
We get to do this for free kinda with custom roms but I think these companies should monetize their UIs and allow the user to choose with their money.

Thanks. I'm glad somebody here wanted it and got to use it, rather than have it just go to waste.
It's been running great for me. It's really a surprisingly awesome phone, especially for the price. I can understand why "Android purists" may not like EMUI, but you can really mask a good chunk of that between using both a theme and a third party launcher.
And no, I didn't root mine. Don't really have a need for root anymore these days, thanks to Adguard. (Previously, AdAway was the only thing left that kept me rooting my phones).

It blocks ads in Web browsers and apps on Android. And it works just as well as AdAway, from my experience.

How is a theme, that takes someone hundreds of hours to put together and has to be updated every time a new version of any of the apps themed is released, overpriced at less than the cost of a small coffee?

Magisk module may not be installed. It isn't compatible yet.
Needs to wait till I got my device.
If you go to settings-edge sense and select to start an application for short and longpress and choose the appropriate edge sense plus shortcuts, all should work.
What isn't actually not working. More details needed to.

I only installed the u12+ edge senese apk to U11+ but edge sense worked but the one - side tap not.

yeah, well those features will be only available on the U12+.
The hardware of the U11 does not support the tap gestures.

After all that bad reviews I'm not that hyped. Seems the the touch sensitive frame triggers a lot of false squeezes/taps.

Depends actually. Had none of those false squeezes. Neither of the frame, not of the buttons. My translucent blue actually rocks it this far. Only thing that should be addressed is battery life. But I know it will in the upcoming update, as well as some Edge Sense fine tuning, and camera optimizations as always.

There will be a firmware update in the summer that adds more responsiveness to the buttons..( info from customer support)
...not sure how that will resolve the false triggering, but maybe it will also address that.
