I just happen to trigger it this morning lol. Maybe it's Android representation of the Essential team? The guy in the middle looks like Andy Rubin.

New HTC Android Device

I didn't see any other thread for this so:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/16/what-new-htc-android-phone-is-this/
Wonder what it could be?
It's the HTC Zoom 2 (HTC Dragon). Spec's say maybe released Dec. 2009:
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2067&c=htc_zoom_2_htc_dragon
Looks like the Android version of the HD2 many people have been wishing for. Nice to have choices right?
Hm, I really hope it's not. Don't really like the looks of it.
Though IF it is the HTC dragon, it would be easier for me to choose the HD2 (out sooner + sexier ). It is a shame though, as I would have enjoyed trying out Android. Ah well... maybe next time.
Is it me or do the pictures look rather stretched. The screen looks way too long and narrow. It's not proportined right. The looks aren't that great either.
If this is the Android-version of the HD2, then they really screwed up the design, It looks like **** compared to the Touch HD2.
Plus its much bigger with that added chin for the trackball.
They should add the trackball between the buttons and skip that bottom chin.
What you all complaining about? I think it looks great.

It's not ugly. It just doesn't look as nice as the HD2 in my opinion.
Ok Someone else call Shananigans with me.......... This is more than a likely photoshopped Samsung Moment. Look at them both.

looks like the HTC Eris with a few slight changes:

Yeah. But the eris is supposedly the Verizon Hero. So why they are pushing the moto Droid more than that IDK. Probably cause the screen aint no 4.3 inches.
Would be cool if the Eris was the Dragon though. But IDK.
http://phonedog.com/cell-phone-rese...ee-k-i-s-s-say-android-phones-are-coming.aspx
Screen doesn't look big enough neither does the device. The phone the other guy is hodlding is the Droid.
So mebe they took the Eris/Desire and photoshoped that picture so the screen was stretched and phone look bigger? Look at how stretched the Android bot is in one of those pictures where it's in landscape mode.
That phone looks like a shopped Droid Eris which is basically a Verizon Hero. Moto Droid all the way though.
Why soooo much of hoax circulating around. Just like with Leo b4 it ws announced?
It wont be called Dragon or Passion, but Bravo and its expected to be released late Q1, early Q2 of 2010 wearing 3.7'' and not 4.3 screen and many others....

Nobody spoken about an Android-based HD2 and neither did I. I just said that the device which the topic/thread is about (and so are the photos which are circulating) will be released as i have priorly stated on end of March (Q1) start of April (Q2) of 2010, as i have seen all the devices portfolio live, on my hands, a week ago.
Any idea what CPU its running? I like the idea of an android handset, but not if its using the same old MSM as my current TD2.

Guys, the forthcoming on April 2010, Android handset which will be finally called as HTC Bravo has nothing to do with the picture which was circulation over the net for quite a while. The device looks great from any point of view and as member nizzon correctly stated before, i can confirm to all of you, that the rounded red-coloured trackball will be between the buttons at the bottom of the device. The device is slim with perfect design and with really nice specs.
Wrongly many stated that Bravo is the Android side of Leo (HD2) as the only same feature which is maintained from Leo is the Snapdragon QSD 8250 1GHz CPU and many others have been added in advanced as the HD 720p Video caprure.
Will post you shortly exclusively 1-2 pictures to have a look, along with the offcial specs known so far
That sounds awesome dude!

Shortly...? Where are the pictures, then???
Im sorry i haven't posted it so far but will do it as my work was pilled up and to be honest nobody showed interest so far, thats why i skipped it as well. To be honest what i will provide, are scanned brochured images, as these are the only ones found out there, but will open a new thread, specifically for HTC Bravo and us usual...exclusively here on xda.devs

Meego to be Open Sourced;)

As meego is to be open sourced, do you think we should get our porting hats on and bring this baby fully to the Nexus S?
JD
If it can make the device make phone calls, i'm up for that
The reason i am on android right now is because my maemo was aging, and lack of meego handsets
I'm pretty sure we can get close when the source is released, even if we have to do a HD2 esque technique by running the ROM from the SD. I think it would be great to have another option other than stock and CM7(modded stock) to play with

Yes. Yes yes yes yes YES. MeeGo is the only mobile OS (sans Android of course) I'm interested in right now. Nokia was stupid for going WP7 over it, IMO.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Pretty sure someone was on the case with this, take a look down the dev threads.
If i remember rightly they had it booting up OK but had problems with the LED colours and everything had a green tint (driver/balance issue i guess).
There are a whole load of Meego enthusiasts (me being an noob supporter ^^), so i am sure it's not too long until we see some action,
One positive of all this is that there is definately demand for meego, allthough beware i am loving this lil green robot community (apart from the fanbois who are just as bad as apple fans) and the fact it has so many people (one thing Maemo did not, i spent the last two years on that) so they best gain ground and give us hope of a third competitor (even if its an experimental one).
Look forward to the future, as long as it has MeeGo in it somewhere
btw Maemo much closer for Linux than android

Yeah, the guy tried to port it but it was before the source code was announced to be released. So basically that dude did really well because in essence he was pissing in the dark. With the source and some creativity we can get this beast fully functional

I'm another noob supporter of MeeGo. I was really let down when Nokia ditched it for WP7. Thank god that Intel is sticking with it! Really hope it has enough force behind it to push MeeGo to the top

Nokia concept, the future of phones

Check out the new nokia thought, for lack of better word, This was posted on tech crunch.
http://techcrunch.com/2011/11/10/nokias-crazy-bendy-kinetic-concept-blew-your-mind-watch-this/
thoughts? i think a bendy phone would kick arse.
seems like the engineers at Nokia have been playing too much Nintendo Wii
LOL
agreed. 8, 9, 10.
Lol I remember that episode of the office. Triangular tablet, fictional and basically useless
Lol... Symbian
Max. (From my Galaxy 2)
It looks good for the simplistic phone user but not your typical smartphone user.
>_<
natural user interface? that thing would need one heck of a manual. there's a reason babies can use android/iOS - its about as simple and natural as it gets, until it starts tapping into brainwaves. i would NEVER use this, no matter how "natural" or "futuristic" it is.
Damn that's sweet
Haha that is very nice!
This was about to happen with the Microsoft partnership.
I'm not convinced that this would replace my phone either, especially with that shape. But I do love the idea.
Ummm...looks like a "personal massager"...set it on vibrate and go to town!

Lolz....arrow up going down
Thank you ,, very much
That'll be useful for surfing!
I like the idea very much but I don't know about the shape.
One thing they need to learn fast is that the only way they can compete with world of androids and iphones is to make their operating system an open source like android. Otherwise they will stand no chance.
That is what has kept android in the game against iphones.
im still waiting for that wat-like phone kind of like what the power rangers have xD
nano-tech, yes.
This is like that Nokia Aeon project that never came true, don't this ever will.
If that comes out on the market iOS would be goin down big time LOL

webOS going Open Source, any idea about it's viability on the TF?

Now that it's going to be open-sourced, would webOS be virtually impossible to port to the transformer, or merely incredibly difficult?
And in either case, could certain portions of it be ported over to ICS? Like, launcher or gesture navigation? Or would that also be incredibly difficult? Fingers crossed!
My only question is WHY? Why would ou want to put a dead OS on your Transformer when it already has a better, currently-supported OS?
Novelty..?
webOS isnt bad. If its open source with development I can see lots of potential there. I liked it better than Android on the HP Touchpad but couldn't stand the lack of apps and things like not having a text arrow indicator to edit individuals letters in a text field. But if there's development and tweaking for it and "custom ROMs", I might consider flashing webOS.

Same here.. The only thing i really like about webos is it multitasking with card view.. hopefully someday android gets real multitasking.
**** YES
IT would be pretty damn cool to see this on our TF101's. It may be semi dead but the dev community seems to really love it an has a ton of support and activity with it.
AND the multitasking is pretty epic and cool we dont got a very effiecient multitasking system yet and webos cards and webos would be AWESOME
So if someone would like to give me a list of what we would need to do this thing I might start looking at starting a project for it....
THX HP FOR THE OPEN SOURCING
Evo 3d has a port already..
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/9/2...r-htcs-evo-3d-a-proof-of-concept-for-the-time
HOLY ****
Well I guess its possible, but we might have some trouble cause of the tegra...
This would be cool to see. WebOS is fine, it was that crappy piece of hardware they put it on.
I think the issue would be with the video drivers more than anything else.

[Q] Sony's UI or default UI

Hi! just wondering... do you like how Sony changes the look of android?
It doesn't look bad but why do some manufactures need to change the icons, apps' layout (especially the sms) and everything what Google intended to be. I know that it needs to be somehow distinct or unique but I really love how the 'default' android looks like. You may say buy another phone but Xperia's 'external' design fits me & my wallet or flash another rom but some roms are just modified stock roms. They could have just added the features & apps and followed the UI just like CyanogenMod. The only thing i love about the Xperia's stock rom is the Walkman app and the illumination bar and I haven't switched to CM10 yet because the video playback/recording doesn't work. Sorry if you think that my comment is stupid but do you like how Sony changes the look of android's GUI?
Definitely prefer sony UI! It's nice,great,simple... When I'm on CM10 i always flash xperia z style systemUI,status bar,install walkman,xperia lockscreen...
Me, too. Timescape ui FTW! It's the most beautiful and most "operational" one on android smartphones. Also, it's way better than stock google's one.
Sony ui any day, with all things colorized according to theme.

i like that feature though i hope we could choose on a wider range of color just like what windows 8 has on its start screen or on its desktop. i mean would it be great if the color theme adapts to your wallpaper or the album cover of what you're playing so that your phone could adjust to your mood. i think i'm just being silly here :cyclops: but that would be so great...

I do see that coming in the future actually.
But as for now,if your wallpaper has a green base, choose green theme and change wallpaper?
Hi,
Stock, pure, Vanilla Android will always be my preference. That's also why I love CyanogenMod! It's just... So pure and clean! My Nexus 7 with KitKat gives me the desire to taste CM11 on my E!
Ofcourse, Sony's skin is the best skin on the market! Together with Oppo, I like them the most. Compared with the stuff Samsung drops on their phone, unbelievable. Allthough I do like the new Windows 8-like skin they put on KitKat. But TouchWiz is just completely messed up! LG isn't much better. The childish icons make me want to hit the screen...
No, how Google intended it to be will always rock for me. I don't even have to install a ROM on my Nexus. It's fine as it is(rooted and TWRP installed, but still...).
That's my opinion . If Samsung would stop to hire toddlers for their UI team, that would be sweeeeeet...
Have a nice day!

  LOL!!! i can't stop laughing when you said that and i totally i agree with you but if samsung wants their device to be more child-friendly or toddler-friendly, they're probably making a good job...
Android bells, Android bells, Google all the way... CM11 is coming to town, riding on the E!
Excuse my terrible parody of Jingle Bells. Continuing...
I love Google's stock UI, and TouchWiz comes close. Sony's UI, at least in my E or my friend's J, looks unfinished. The design just isn't consistent, and that's a big ouch. Samsung, however, looks solid. Not necessarily refined, but it's cool either way.

Its not that I hate TouchWiz. It's just different from the way Google intended it to be! When I bought my SII, I used TouchWix for two months. Then I got fed up and installed Paranoid Android.
It changed my life... No more glossy, shiny icons and messy menus. Pure Android!
I absolutely agree with you when you say that Samsung is consistent. They managed to screw up all of Android . Not just one element...
But everyone can have their opinion. I can(and will) respect that!
Little off topic: I'm currently having €250. I have a nice little job and this number will increase. Should I buy a mid to high range phone(for example: Nexus 5) or a high end phone(for example: Xperia Z1)?
What would you do?

I'd get the Nexus, but that's just because I like updates and AOSP-like stock ROMs. I'd say if you need the camera, get the Z1, else get the Nexus.
