great cam, wish it had OIS.
great dynamic range, details are top notch

Rather disappointing
I upgraded from Honor 7, just for the camera of Honor 9 and must say I am disappointed. Human skin is not captured realistically, with great details, but rather as if it always has the beauty effect on..
The front camera is worse than the one of Honor 7. But it could be fixed via a firmware update.

Hey guys, here are some pictures of me, which I made with the Honor 9.

The quality of the shots taken with the Honor 9 are pretty good. Just wished that it had OIS.

The hghlight of this phone is the low light capabilities of the camera. And Honor stood to its promise.

Perfect quality!!!

I didn't try that.. but I discovered that if I use the Pro Camera mode with Manual Focus, the "skin issue" is solved. I'm hoping for an update that will improve the camera's potential.
Can you recommend me a good camera app?
Thanks

got my honor 9 today. tested taking a closeup picture and compared with a colleague's s7 edge and he was impressed. honor has better color representation of the real thing.

Some samples from my H9
the camera is great

On 5th picture, I know that you`re from Serbia.
Nice pics.

with tripod and some knowledge on photography, the camera is capable to capture stunning pictures.

Has anyone tried the night mode with a tripod? Is it really that great as advertised??

I think that the Honor 9's camera is pretty good! This is a photo taken with the 2x hybrid zoom in low lights conditions

I'm personally really liking the camera. Camera is always my top priority and I've gone through five phones in the past year trying to find the complete package. I'm coming directly from a S7. While I wish the main camera has a few more tricks up its sleeve it is quick and I love how it animates and names collages etc from the app instead of having to upload the photos to google photos and do the processing there.
I'll be putting up random shots over the next few days in my Google Photos folder: https://goo.gl/photos/vYAoiyxMw5VGSGPHA I tried attaching many of the shots but XDA yells at me for going over the size limit!

Cute kid!
Those low light shots are a bit worrisome...
I agree...the low light shots aren't too great ....the dog pix have good detail in them. Does the camera shoot 1080p video at 60fps?

I'm going to be crying on the inside until my phone gets here in a month.
Well, I may continue to cry cuz the low-light capabilities won't miraculously get better.
I've been using this for a couple days and my thought are the LOW light shots aren't bad. It's the NO lights shots that it gets really grainy. And I'm ok with that. There aren't many times I'm taking pictures in almost absolutely no light. For LOW light like at a restaurant, bar, concert, on a street at night, etc. They are great

low light
An f/2.0 aperture is not really a low light sensor. And considering how tiny is the sensor, the Pixel XL does a great job.
A low light aperture is under 2, and each stop, or portion of stop like f/1.8, makes a huge difference.
My intention is not be be a pedant. I think many hope f/2.0 means far, far better low light capability than it actually imparts.
It needs some light.
patrick
I personally am sold on the camera!! Took it on a Sunday afternoon hike this wknd and tried it out... https://goo.gl/photos/XF32nTcwKbDXW37H9 Really happy with it! Note that it was VERY VERY bright and sunny.
I just notice the stupid Halo effect somebody was complaining about on one of my pictures.
Does anyone else have a problem withe front camera focusing properly? It seems to be unable to focus on things in the foreground for some reason and only focuses on the background, which makes everything in the front (like people's faces) seem soft and out of focus. Tested out some self portraits and at first, I thought maybe I was too close but no matter how far I stretched out my hand to take a pic, the background always seems to stay in focus.
Something might definitely be wrong with my front camera. I see pics of other people's front camera pics and they are very crispy, even in low light. Not only that, but the front camera pics I take seem to be shaky and blurry about half the time, like there is absolutely no image stabilization being used. I'm forced to do burst shots to compensate for this. Maybe my hands are too shaky? I never had a problem with this coming from an S6 though.
very good comparison videos vs popular phones

it's very interesting that how hdr+ improves photo quality
look at the colors and details of 10 pounds money
pixel only lacks a good ois
ois + hdr+ = incredible
I like the image quality under certain conditions, but I'm getting super crazy haloing when there is even the least bit of light behind or off to the side of my photo target. It makes for some really crappy looking pictures when there is a huge opaque ring in my picture. Kinda disappointing.
I hear that this is supposed to be remedied with a software update. I hope this is true and I sure am looking forward to it.
Could someone test if it´s possible to shoot a clear picture of the moon with this device? Since there are no manual controls I would be interested in that. Shutterspeed in FV5 isn´t working, it doesn´t take a shot. And in my area there´s currently no moon to test it... Thanks!
I have made 9 galleries of photos taken with the Pixel XL in varying conditions (dawn to dusk) and the Honor 8.

In video form if you prefer (21 minutes!);
I should probably create a curated list of Pixel XL photos for a Google Photos gallery soon, as I realise not everyone will want to look through that many photos!
I took a few quick point and shoot pictures with the White Pixel XL 32gb at the Best Buy Verizon display. Albeit very nice pictures, I was left a bit unimpressed, comparing to my LG v10 (didn't think of taking the same shots at the time to compare)

what i found interesting is the rear camera takes pics @ 4:3 12 megapixels yet 16:9 are only at 8 megapixels ,where as my S7 Edge takes 16:9 12megapixels.....is there a setting im not using???

HTC U11 front (selfie) camera is awful!

Photos have no details and are slightly out of focus. Seems like the depth of field start at about 3 feet so when you take a selfie you're slightly out.
I do have makeup feature off and I cleaned the lens.
Anybody noticing the same?

Hi, i had the same issue with mine so i sent it back to the store in order to get a new one . If you can do the same do it. If you cannot... Wait for a camera module availability on a parts vendor webstore then you will replace it yourself.

Unlike the HTC 10, the U11's selfie camera DOES NOT have a focusing capability. The object needs to be at least 12 inches from the camera to be in focus.
Admittedly I only take the occasional selfie with my kids. It's not the greatest FF lens, but it isn't awful. The LG G6 is awful. I think the u11 is average or slightly better than average. The s8 has a nice selfie cam if you take a lot of those photos.
maybe HTC expect us to all be carrying around a Selfie Stick to when taking Selfies

I have to disagree that it's awful, based on my (admittedly limited) experience with it so far.
Awful is maybe a little too strong of an adjective but it's definitely poor. Both my Nexus 5X and Moto G5+ take better photos.

I tried taking a pic at an 18" distance, but I'm getting sharp and focused results. HDR Auto and makeup off, at the 16MP setting. Have you tried going to Settings and Reset To Default?
I haven't got the u11 but when I tested front cam in the shop I was really impressed. I have lg g5 and front camera disappoints me all the time, I really liked the U11 front cam pictures I saw in the shop
HTC has always had issues with the Cameras for the first month, then they release an update that tends to fix everything.
UPDATE: This has nothing to do with software, since the front camera has no focus abilities. I did receive my replacement U11 and indeed the camera is less blurr, a.k.a, the focus point is closer to the camera. Not perfect though, but acceptable.
This is absolutely a software issue. Evidence of this lies in snapchat. A selfie taken in snapchat is immensely clearer, and much sharper. It seems that the default camera app on the phone has some skin smoothing effect that reduces clarity.
Update: I downloaded a third party camera app entitled "open camera". I can confirm that the overall picture is much sharper. There is, however, still a small issue with the camera not focusing at certain distances. It is a notable improvement. I don't know why HTC has this skin smoothing effect. It persists even when turning off makeup.
Yes it is ****

I was about to post the same thing when I saw your post. I'm sure the lack of focus isn't helping, but this seems to be primarily a software issue. Pictures taken with Open Camera are significantly sharper and clearer than the HTC default app. It seems like the HTC app is overprocessing the pictures because they come out soft and blurry regardless of whether makeup is turned on or off.

Did not get much time to capture some shots with my new 7X. Here is some images that i took with 7X. All shots are from Auto mods. Nothing edited. Not get a chance to take Potrait shots. I know Potrait shot in 7X is just a joke only.. Its really sucks...

Looking to get this for my mom, but with all the photos I've seen, they're all just... INCREDIBLY DARK...
Dual rear cameras of Huawei Honor 7X works
After seeing these photos, I can only say rear cameras with 16MP f/2.2 and 2-mp works together. Though sometimes the supported light is not enough. But most of the time, it works fabulously.
Try using the front camera in normal lighting condition and than cry in a corner because it just sucks...?
Photos are really bad in lower light conditions. The Pixel Camera port is not available for this chipset
The screen is nice but camera plain sucks

I'm confused why previous comments were saying the camera sucks. I'm coming from a Galaxy S7 and wasn't expecting much but honestly this thing takes great pictures. Very detailed and crisp in the right predicaments.

Yeah it's still not good as the S7 but it's definitely on par with or better than the S6. What more can I ask for. I was totally not expec much out of this camera and was pleasantly surprised. I don't have the lag most people complain about except soentimes opening the camera app. Can't wait til my Oreo OTA finally comes so that's gone.
Pretty decent. This was shot with the aperture function and set to f/1
It´s a cheap phone, so I didn´t expect too much. But after the camera of my Note 4, this phone´s camera is just poor. Very poor. I´m gonna get rid of it , and get my Note 4 fixed.
I really dislike the camera, and I wish that I had read a review about it before I bought the phone. There are two problems. 1) The resulting images are WAY to contrasty. Anything in shadow is pretty much black. Outdoor shots will have a well exposed sky and very dark to black ground. If someone's face has shadow on it, they will be unrecognizable. Which brings me to the second point... 2) The camera does not remember any of your settings when you open it again, except for the flash setting. For example, you can set HDR mode, but it will always revert back to standard mode, sorry! Other manufactures have their cameras remember HDR mode. Or, you can put it in "pro" mode and wade through the menu and move the contrast slider to help the "too much contrast" problem, but the camera won't remember that if you close it and you will have to do that every time you open the application again. I'm experimenting with other camera apps, but you will lose the special features that the phone camera has like the depth of field simulation with the second lens., and you can't use it with features like the "press volume twice to wake up and take a quick picture". I'm really disappointed with it.
Have anybody tried to shoot with custom rom? Can i see sample images? I just want to make sure before i buy it

Low light

At the club, at the bar, or just in your mom's basement, nighttime is when you come out to play. Rate this thread to express how the OnePlus 6T's camera performs when no or low light is present. A higher rating indicates that the camera sensor "sees" lots of light in dim conditions, and that the resulting photos have minimal noise. A higher rating also indicates that when the flash fires, the resulting photo is evenly-lit without any bright spots.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
OnePlus stock camera app has extreme processing limitations and causes the camera to under perform. I would give this section 5 stars simply if using Google Camera to take pictures and video, but I know most users will not do this, so the stock camera performance gets a 3 star.
Very beautiful photos. I use GCam and the pictures are partially better than from Note 9.
It is strange to me that people complain about the native camera app of 6t. This is one of the few bright point of the phone.
Look at the two photos below, I took last night from Sagrada Familia, Barcelona. One without the night mode, and one with the night mode.
The GCam does not produce any better result in any situation for me. It maybe because I am using an older version of the GCam? I don't know. But I bought the phone with the hope of having close to Pixel Camera experience, while it is not close except for the low light situations.
I expect others to publish their photos here, when they claim GCam works amazingly or when they say the night mode of 6t cam doesn't work well.

Flying back to Oahu from Maui tonight.
Ruby falls ( chatanooga Tennessee) , stock cam night mode
Rated it at 3 stars - average - as that's about where it stands. Nothing to get excited about. If you need a decent low light image, use a real camera.
Awesome photos in low light
I went for a party last weekend and have taken a lot of photos in a night club and all the photos came perfectly fine. I felt I don't need DSLR anymore when you get classy pics in your mobile then who would need a DSLR.
I got it for a very discounted price. If anyone is looking to purchase one, then you can visit an online site called S World Electronics
This is an innovative device
Great pictures in low light
Previously I used to have One Plus 3, then I have upgraded to 6T. The low light pictures taken from One Plus 6T is lit
Last week we had a house party and we had a low light setup. The photos we took from my phone was far better than the photos taken from other Android phones at the party.
One doesn't need a DSLR now, unless he is a professional though.
Not very good camera app ...like for the most apps!!
With gcam and night sight the night photos are awesome!
No need for Gcam the OP6T stock is fine for me.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 vs Huawei Mate 20 Pro

So I did a test between the cameras on these phone, CURRENTLY there is no night mode available, I've seen it on some youtube videos for the same phone in a different region, so I'm sure it'l be included in a future software update. But as things stand now, there's no completion during the night, the image taken with the Mate 20 Pro is clearer, sharper, it's got more detail and less noise than the image taken with the PocoPhone F1.
Anyone know when night mode update will be available in the UK?
Video stabilization is good on both phones although the Mate 20 Pro's is slightly better because it remains sharp during stabilization other than that there isn't much difference in detail, of course the color temperatures are different but everything else is pretty comparable and both phones do well at changing focus between foreground and background objects.
For the price the Pocophone is going for, the photos are great, in daylight the images are sharp and clear, there's good contrast in the images, not overly over-saturated and very true to life. High Dynamic Range is pretty good too, I was pretty surprised at how well it took pictures in very bright conditions. The Mate 20 Pro is still unsurprisingly better in every scenario, it's more flexible with its additional wide angle and zoom lens, it has better High Dynamic Range, pictures are sharper, more detailed and the colors are more true to life. It's not even a contest, but the Pocophone is still a winner if it's bang for your buck that you're looking for.
I also did a video which you can have a look at if you want, otherwise the above covers what's mentioned in the video.

Xiaomi released a nightmode in the beta updates but it's way worse than Google camera.
Poco and the pixel 3 have the same sensor on the back a imx 363, idk if the ois makes a difference tho here.
Apparently the Google night sight and the mate 20 pro are on par with each other during night shots.
