You are right, it is pretty hard to be sure you are receiving an actual Xiaomi original battery based on just a web page description. Even given multiple batteries that look identical, and then opting for the one with a higher price on the assumption that it really is original, well, that is absolutely not definitive (at least not in my experience--I have been burned a bunch of times like this...). I think the only way is maybe to buy it directly from Xiaomi because I think even bigger China-based retailers (Banggood, DX, Gearbest, etc.) buy merchandise to resell thinking it is actually authentic only to find out it is just a good fake job. I'm not sure how to get around this. Because this is the case, nowadays, I usually just look on Aliexpress, find a vendor with a good rating and a high number of orders, and go with it. This is based on the assumption that actual experiences and word of mouth have led to a high rating and high number of orders, but neither is this a guarantee.
I did recently purchase a second battery for my RN2 on Aliexpress, and it cost a bit less than US$6 including shipping. It seems to perform as well as the original battery. Although you might see BM45 replacement batteries which offer up to 4000 mAh of capacity, the only way to be really sure about this is to use a USB voltage/amperage tracker during charging that also tallies mAh, and then account for nominal USB vs Li-ion voltage, i.e. 5V vs. 3.7V, and an efficiency factor.
Anyway, in the long run, I have probably not answered your question about a source for an original Xioami battery. But I can say my <US$6 one bought on Aliexpress seems to work as well as the original. Good luck with the search!
It's difficult to find a genuine battery and I beware who claim his battery have more mAh than the original one.
So I bought a Nohon battery from AliExpress and I'd say it's a good replacement.

My ORIGINAL Battery (came with the original sealed Phone) blowed up like a ballon after 20 Months...so far for "ORIGINAL QUALITY"...

LOL. Yeah my ORIGINAL battery looks like a balloon and it's now hard to close the back cover so I did order the Nohon battery. :silly:
I don't think that you can find the real original battery any more. In general, Dragon TT is a good source for parts, but they haven't had them in stock for a while. I ended up getting a Nohon battery (from what's supposed to be their factory store on Ali) and it seems pretty good. The capacity seems to be on par with the original, back when it was new, and it doesn't drop from 100 to 90% as soon as you start using the phone, like the original did. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, though.

I write just to warn about Nohon battery and their supposed 6 month warranty.
I had a bad experience asking support about a new battery bought through Aliexpress on 2018/09/09. The battery was a BM35 model designed for Mi 4C phone and has a loosen connector as shown in the photo attached. I had some experience with different brand spare batteries, because as we all know it is almost impossible to find original xiaomi batteries and rarely the replaced battery has a capacity similar to the original so it wears out faster, but this is the first time I see such a poor designed connector. I had the original one and other two third-brand BM35 batteries and usually the ribbon connector is a whole part fixed under the battery shoulder, instead the Nohon ribbon wire seems to be a different kind of plastic less flexible and more easy to cut, or simply not well fixed under the battery shoulder and easy to detach. I think this could lead to a potentially dangerous short-circuit of the battery itself and damage the phone too.
Obviously I reported this issue through Aliexpress dispute system directly to Nohon store and even if my battery should have been replaced inside the 6 month warranty, I received a joking reply telling me they would have let me know in a hypothetical future and they never replied anymore to the next message.

Does the quick charge work with this Nohon battery?
It does, the battery charges as quickly as the original one did, at around 2A.

Found one while browsing around for a replacement for my DHD too.
Can't post links yet, but if you go to a site called evertop ending in a .co.uk and search for 35H00141-02M, you will find one with 1550mAH rating.
There are a few of these replacement ones claiming higher capacity, but one has to be cautious about these things mate.
Would love to find a genuinely reliable replacement one, although I must admit, if you haven't tried it already, there is a thread around which has a tip to charge the DHD in a certain way - seems to have worked for me upto certain extent - have managed to go over 24h without the need to charge with moderate use.

Take extra precaution to this company. They will send you counterfeit goods no matter what if they think you are incapable of fighting back (say, living too far away).
My friend has been scammed once, and he went through all the complain channel in UK online in vain. It seems that UK's Government has no intention to stop online scammers that are active in their own countries. That was really an awkward discovery.
So be very careful.

They arent too expensive, ($3 on ebay for a 1600 mah fake, $15 for a genuine 1230) and its not exactly that hard to keep a few on you.

I would definitely recommend an external powerpack. I have a New Trent 5500mah pack, and it indeed gives 2-3 recharges, in a form factor slightly smaller than the DHD.
The only battery which is not fake, is the Mugen, coming in at 1500mah. It's not a huge improvement, but many say it's the difference between running out of juice mid-evening, and making it through to the night and the power cord.
Search for Mugen in this forum, all the details are there.
Or look for NewTrent on Amazon for example. The price varies (and they have bigger models too).
Avoid ALL OTHER "high capacity" batteries

You are right, batteries aren't expensive nowaday.
I recommend using genuine where possible. Fake/replacement/counterfeit batteries return bogus charging level to the devices, and that would result in pre-mature shutdown which would damage mobile devices.

evertop co uk is a well-known scammer. You should have looked up uk's ripoff list (forgot the full name of this website, you could search) and you can find it listed top 10 or something.
UK is hoarded with scammers like that, because their government just don't give a dime of what their people do on the internet.

2430MAH? i don't think it is even possible to fit that much cell into the DHD battery size, i'm currently on the mugen 1500MAH battery, it is slightly better then the stock battery, would recommend that

- Ive been a little worried about this as I have a cheap one from China which came in an accessory pack, which by the way sucked. everything has just fallen apart. but the battery, which I rely on heavily as a backup, seems to have a better life than the original odly enough, dunno what's up with that. afraid it may leak or output higher charges and fry my phone?

I never tried, but look at the cell type Li-Ion Polymer IMHO it's somehow realistic. Maybe not as their ads 2430mAh but somewhere between 1230 and that value. Then 20 bucks is worth to try, any one brave enough to try and report?
You can check the seller's recent feedback and see if anyone bought any from them.
I mean there shouldn't be any harm, its just a battery. Its not like buying an adapter charger, in case of wrong voltage which will fry ur phone.
now, I'm no expert (and there is no end of websites run by battery experts), but there is a limitation as to how many mah can fit into a certain space.
That is, the OEM battery size gives a certain output, and you can probably get a bit more in the same form factor.

Older teminal designs allowed manufacturers to market physically bigger batteries with a custom cover, of course that is not an option here.

Its quite likely that most manufacturing overstate the specification, which is a common thing really, not just battery, broadband, harddrive, etc. They always claim it has more then what it actually has.
But on the other hand, I wouldn't go so far calling it a fake, since japs does always paint something gold or silver to suggest higher quality stuff. Because when I was a kid living in asia, I buy a lot of radio control cars from japan and their expensive parts like battery, motors, always has something gold or silver attach to it

I have been looking and I see a lot of 1500 mah ... but then if you read the fine print they say 1500 mah (+/- 200 mah) which admits that it is just another 1300 mah knock off. How can a legitimate battery be + or - 200 mah...

Precisely. tbh, I understand we'd all like to believe there are miracle solutions to this, but equally we should understand that this miracle is not going to come from an ebay seller
However few dollars a cheap battery costs you, it ain't much use if it's going to fail after a few hours. And the hassle linked with keeping replacement batteries charged is not worth it either. I had a spare OEM battery for my previous phone, and I got fed up of keeping it ready.
3 solutions:
1) strategies to minimise power consumption (loads of suggestions in this sub-forum)
2) keep it topped up during the day if you're at home/office
3) get an external power pack as I mentioned above, 5000mah variants are (were) GBP23 on Amazon.
My wife and I have both had t-mobile g2's for almost 2 years now. I had wanted to get addition batteries or replacement higher capacity batteries for a while. There were plenty of cheap batteries on ebay that claimed 1500 or 1600 mAh that would theoretically be an upgrade over a stock battery but it would be a relatively small upgrade and might not even really be an upgrade if they didn't actually live up to their advertised capacity so I had been procrastinating doing anything. Two things changed and I finally stopped procrastinating. First we decided we were going to keep our g2's for about another year. Second I noticed a number of Gold Business Batteries showing up on ebay at a relatively cheap price. They claimed a really high 2450mAh which I figured was not realistic but even if it fell well short of that it should still be a good upgrade. You can find them on ebay with a search for Desire Z gold battery. Can't post a link yet =)
Ordering and shipping was pretty much what you'd expect for cheap ebay purchases from china. The description was poor and communication with the seller was in broken English but I had no major issues. I just selected the cheapest seller at the time and I'm not even sure if that seller is still selling the batteries now. Shipping was predictably slow and packaging was minimal but everything arrived undamaged and is working fine.
The batteries seem to be a little tighter fit than the OEM batteries which seems to be a common complaint about these replacement batteries. I suspect that they would fit better if you removed the "gold" label as it seems to be somewhat stiff and thick for a label but I haven't tried that yet.
No surprise but the batteries don't seem to live up to their claimed capacity. I installed a battery monitor app and ran several full cycles on my battery and it came up with a measured capacity of ~1850mAh. I haven't tried to do the same on my wife's battery but it is enough of an improvement over our original OEM batteries that it is easily noticeable and she has commented on it and prefers the new battery. We got a charger with one of the batteries so she could easily swap batteries rather than charging the battery in the phone but she prefers to charge the gold battery and not swap back to the OEM battery unless she has to. My impression is the same. The new battery definitely lasts longer and was a nice improvement.
I no longer have the battery monitor installed (flashed to a CM9 Mod now) but after a couple months of use I subjectively haven't noticed a large drop in performance for the batteries.
Short review-
Good capacity cheap battery that doesn't require a replacement battery cover and I'd recommend them or by another in the future.

I agree with OP's assessment. Definitely better than stock. I also notice that they get a lot less HOT than stock battery, which often felt like it would burn a hole in my pants. This battery produces no significant heat. Key word is "significant" since it is obviously impossible to produce NO heat. I suspect that the increased capacity compared to stock is due to much less energy lost as heat.
Just ordered a 2680mah one. Will report back when tested. With any luck it'll come before the weekend as my trip to London will be a good test.

Hi there, I bought a used XT1225 a couple months ago and the battery is worn (dying at ~35%). Did anyone here do a battery swap? I'm used to fixing my devices by myself, so I only need guidance on where to get a genuine battery (trustworthy eBay/amazon sellers or other online shops), or recommendations on third-party brands that make decent batteries for the quark (saw some listings of this "x-longer" brand on eBay but I've never heard of it before - I would rather get something like Mugen Power or Zerolemon).

If it's really OEM, they are good quality. OEM is an acronym that means "original equipment manufacturer" -- it means the ORIGINAL part the phone was manufactured with. "Replacement" part (in this case, battery) is what you don't want, or "OEM-equivalent" -- which means they are saying it's "as good as" OEM. Sometimes it's not.
I did list some replacement batteries just because sometimes sellers may call it that for people who don't know what to look for.
But if it's truly OEM, then it's exactly what was put in the phone by the manufacturer.
Now if you are saying they are lying and it's not truly an OEM part, I understand your hesitation.
The thing to generally look out for is listings which state a capacity higher than the original battery.
The Quark has a "non-removable" battery and a "sealed" back cover. The only battery ever produced for it (to the best of my knowledge) was the 3900mAh EQ40 battery --- no official high-capacity batteries/extended backplates. Li-Ion and Li-Po have remained largely the same for at least a decade, never mind the last couple years; any seller claiming a larger capacity in the same form-factor is full of it.
It looks like the batteries were originally manufactured by Hanrim Postech Electric Co. LTD. Just looking real quick, there's at least one being sold on eBay that's labeled by "Pro-Power Communications Co. LTD".
Personally, I'd buy one that's from the company who originally made them, but that's just me...it's entirely possible that Pro-Power took over manufacture of replacements for Motorola at some point, and make a perfectly adequate battery. I dunno, pop your back cover off and see who manufactured your current battery.
Buy from sellers with high feedback, avoid high-capacity/gold-labeled/non-OEM-labeled batteries, and you'll be fine. Batteries with fancy labels are generally just plain old OEM batteries with the label replaced; effectively mystery batteries. Don't pay extra for them unless you know it's from a reputable brand who's known to use good cells (e.g. Mugen).
If you want to get a battery that might last a tad bit longer, try asking a seller if they would be willing to send you one of the latest-dated cells in their inventory, so you get one that's "fresher". Batteries have a limited shelf life, after all, and the clock's always ticking.
Another question: I just saw a refurb unit listing, this battery was took from a phone, which includes the wireless charging coil, but most listings for the battery don't include the coil. Is the coil easy to move from one battery to another just by heating?

Thing is, internet is FULL of scam sellers and even more products.
I mean yeah, it's easy to avoid Chinese crap with 18569303mah but there are batteries claim to be the "original" with the yellow sticker and everything but they're actually just fake copies.

I absolutely love my G5 SE H840, but the battery is shot. I can barely get half a day out of the thing. Open a game and I can sit and watch the battery drain at 3/4% per second. No I am in the market for a bettery and am also having a hard time finding an OEM battery anywhere around here (South Africa)

Well..
I found (and purchased, waiting for delivery) this one few days ago.
It seems to be less fake than usual. Hope it won't result to another PayPal claim by me. I'm getting sick of this game.

Normally the fakes come in horrible printed packaging And compared to a genuine one you can tell all kinds of misprints and such defects in the manufacturing process.
Where did all the spare batteries and charging cradles that lg gave away go? lol
I got 3 batteries and a cradle for mine still
Well I've got the battery and it seem fine.
It'll be the last battery for my G5.
By the time new battery will be needed G7 will be out and well... xD
Why not buy the charging cradle that already comes with an additional battery? Most of these cradles are legit and cheap, my most recent purchase was from last year and I only payed 18$ for a charging cradle (the battery included, same capacity) through Amazon
I would never pay for it $40 for this battery, I have two batteries and both of them drain horribly bad and most likely are already dying, and since i spent an entire year daily switching each battery due to lacking a charging cable, that only means that it used each battery for the length of an half a year.
These batteries are so so so so worthless it's not worth the sacrifice spending ton on money on a single unit
Edit: checked Amazon, cradles aren't cheap anymore, i guess lg dropped support for the lg g5 so their are not restocking their older replacement parts, unless I'm wrong.
You CAN find like 9$ lg g5 batteries on Amazon, by LG LG (not considering they are not the supplier, be careful with whichever store supplier you're buying, refunds are guaranteed either one way or another so it's nothing to worry about)
But yeah enjoy ur new fresh battery, hope this info helps others
Just ordered the 2-pack of AEXPower along with the external charger off Amazon. I have a Disney trip this weekend so I'll definitely make use of testing them out. I'll update this post Sunday night or Monday.
Update on the AEXPower batteries. Are they OEM quality? Close. I can almost get a full days of use out of it...taking pictures and posting to social media and such. But, the joy of this phone is having the ability to swap out batteries quickly. Battery Stats rated the battery right at 2800mAh after a few 100% discharges so I highly doubt that it's actually the 3000mAh that they rate it at. However, it's still a good battery and would definitely recommend it since you're getting 2 batteries and an external charger for sub $30.
Is it better to get OEM battery which was manufactured in 2016 or non OEM manufactured in 2017? Also does non OEM support Quick Charge 3?

Just ordered the two pack with charger..... will post sometime in May after they get down here to me in S.A.
I have been using two LG batteries with the LG charger dock but they now shut off the phone when they get down to 15% very fast.
Was just going to get a newer phone but now with 15.1 (Oreo) coming soon I think I will stick with the phone another year!
I think we will be the last with a swappable battery in our phones
