[Guide] [Root] Optimize Ram and Increase Performance of Your Device - Samsung Galaxy Core Prime Guides, News, & Discussi

Our beloved Core Prime comes with only 1GB of ram and you know that it's a bit insufficient for our daily needs.
But I found an app which optimizes ram and thus can increases the device's performance by 25% (on stock rom) (personal opinion ).
I found it very useful specially for our device so I want to share it with you.
Here is the playstore link of the app:
RAM Manager | Memory boost
Just give it a try
This app just doesn't free ram like other apps, it optimizes it.
If you're not sure about the setting then select the 'Balance' mode as it'll do just fine for most of the users.
And one more thing. 'Busybox' is required for proper functioning of this app.

Bro kindly provide its best settings too....

Just use the balanced mode. It'll be enough for regular use.

Hello everybody, please give me some use feeling that i can improve my software.
It is my understanding that this is not useful for Android 2.2 and above, since it includes its own memory management.
Android will usually keep its memory full on purpose so recently used apps are responsive.
When you load a new app, others get swapped out of memory if there is not enough room.
So is this app useful for 2.2 and above?
Useful to be able to help you more quickly free memory when you reset oom value ,the system will speed up Significantly
hi nice working so far! looking good and quick boost is really a nice touch!
my mob is running fine without any problems so far.
like whitelist, a blacklist would be helpful! and the memory is not going beyond 120! when using other memory tools such auto killer memory or minfreemanager I can tweak upto 250! I think you can give option like save as custom preset and then use it.

This isn't like a typical task killer. This looks the same as the very popular AutoKiller. It tweaks Android's built-in memory management. You can read technical details here http://andrs.w3pla.net/autokiller/details

If you can get root, and setting successfully, the system will help you free memory. the system will kill some empty applications when you run many applications.
auto launcher is working for me!
but everytime I open I have to click request root permission! is there a way to remember my selection! once I press request root permission it should remember.

"topspeed" need root, "quick free memory" does not need root, topspeed can completely free the memory and kill some empty app. "quick free memory" only kill some empty app.

[Q] Info about RAM

HI
Yesterday I bought my Asus TF300T ... awesome but there is one thing I do not understand.
The tablet have 1 GB of ram... but if I go in settings -> application -> Ram in use show 680m occupied, and only 290 free.... strange cause happens at every boot!
So I begin search in this forum for some help, but I was not able to find any specific info about ram consumption....
Now I tried to install a custom Rom based on 4.1.1 (Clean ROM 2.1 ), but nothing has change, the ram consumption is the same as the stock JB version.
Just now i've try to remove some bloatware with TitaniumBackup, reboot but... 650m in use is too hight.
Can I have some information on the consumption of ram? Can I do something to increase the free space? I ask because I saw that some users have more than 600 mb of free space at boot
Thanks for any replies
Mirko
PS sorry for bad english! I hope you undestand
You can leave it alone for the most. You won't gain anything by having more ram that isn't being used.
This is how Android is meant to work. It caches process and stuff in the background so apps boot quicker. If an app needs more ram, the system will close processes to free some up for you.

Hi mozy!
Uhm ok but if I want to disable at startup one or more applications/services how can I do that? I undestand that android caches process but I wanna be able to know "what's inside" my ram and exactly how much it take. There's an app for this?

If you want to disable apps at startup you can download the app: "Autostarts"
from the Android market and for your second question check out the app "AutoKiller Memory Optimizer", also from the google play market

how to improve performance??

hello guys...
I am new user of android os...
so i dont know which kind of apps are useful for improving performance.. for that i have installed task killer.. cach cleaner.. antivirus..game booster. etc.. but i have not noticed so much improvement..
so pls tell me which kind off apps i should installed.. so i can maintain mobile performance good..
and also one problem there is so many apps for only one performance (exa task killing) and all have good rating so among them how can we find good one...
nd also pls guide any setting which can also improve performance..
Thanks in advance...
Antivirus can slow down the phone a little. I'm not sure the task killer is good idea. Best way to increase overall speed of the phone is unlock the bootloader and install Vengeance kernel from Android Development forum .
Use clean master to clean cache and junk files
It also can clean ram

Most of the task managers are useless!
Disable some apps which you are not using Play Movies, Play Book, etc.
Root you XL then install "Greenify" which will hibernate your apps. It will free RAM to some extend and also give you extra juice..

as i tried to close some apps which am i not using currently like maps.. but it restarts automatic..
nd i have also tried to stop cached process but dnt succeed.. nd one more thing i have noticed is that sum of all memory consuming by different apps are smaller than which they r showing in total used memory.. i dnt know what wrong happening.. when i shut down and restart phone than used memory goes down to 300 to 350 mb and after some using of net and apps its become 450 to 550.. (even i closed all apps by swapping ) as i have bought my phone 5 days ago i dont want to void warranty by rooting at least for 1 month so if any other idea or suggestion you have than pls give me..
you dont need to unlock for using greenify (which is a great idea as it gives you fast performance even with an extremely big amount of apps. to use it a partial root from greenifx is enough. hoohle for it. if you wanna make use of guarantee, you can easily unroot with the same app.
Deacticate systemapps you dont need.
Dont use any taskkiller, android does it good by itself, ram is there to be used and if you clean it, you will run the processor hot everytime you start the concerning apps again and so lose battery and performance as cpu is busy with the new task...
and performance on stock is very good btw...
deactivating (or deleting if you have full root) is the most important step. if you root and delete you must also delete the .odex files from system/app.
Oh and a thread title should describe your problem... like "how to improve performance?"

Performance depends totally on how you use your phone - try a few different ROMs and see which one you like.
I'm Using Lineage OS with Gapps Firekernel and Magisk. Download an App called Kernel Auditor set CPU to the highest clockspeed available. Use the Hyper Governor set low memory killer to very agressive and set Z-Ram under virtual memory to 2gb.

"set Z-Ram under virtual memory to 2gb." where is that? So can a 1GB phone really function a lot like a 2GB phone??? exciting if it can! Thanks!

My bad just set it to the highest value it gives the device more ram to play with making the music player and podcast app not getting killed by the low memory killer. Basically means you can play games and listen to music

Is that in Kernel aduitor?

so I am guessing Z-ram would only go to 1GB on a 1GB phone?

I own 2 years my osprey 1 GB version, i have try many roms and the best so far is the dirty unicorns.
So far is very stable, with no configuration, no random reboots and with best time open apps. Don't believe configuration overclocking is utopia and unstable with constant increasing temperature, if I make a mistake correct me, I will be very happy.

Performance tweaking a Samsung Tab 2 10.1" (i497) - Help needed!

Hi everybody,
I've decided to tweak my old Tab 2 (AT&T SGH-i497 running 4.1.2 stock ROM) for speed, making it fairly usable again. After rooting and flashing twrp I've made a backup and started deleting all pre-loaded bloatware. After that, the tablet seemed a bit faster so I've deleted Google play services, Play store and most of google apps. Also, all apps related to cellular connection / SIM card were deleted since I'm not planning on using those features.
This is the list of apps currently on the tablet:
android system
com.android.calendar
com.android.certinstaller
com.android.chrome (needed for Google Maps Go)
com.android.clipboardsaveservice
com.android.contacts
com.android.defcontainer
com.android.keychain
com.android.MtpApplication (frozen - needed only when connecting the tablet to the PC)
com.android.packageinstaller
com.android.Preconfig
com.android.providers.contacts
com.android.providers.downloads
com.android.providers.downloads.ui
com.android.providers.media
com.android.providers.security
com.android.providers.settings
com.android.providers.tasks
com.android.settings
com.android.systemui
com.diotek.screen_capture
com.dsmartapps.root.kerneltweaker
com.flyersoft.moonreader
com.google.android.apps.mapslite
com.google.android.deskclock
com.google.android.tts
com.here.app.maps
com.infraware.PolarisOfficeStdForTablet
com.jrummyapps.rootbrowser.classic
com.mobsnake.verticalgallery
com.painless.pc Power toggles
com.sec.android.app.camera
com.sec.android.app.controlpanel
com.sec.android.app.popupcalculator
com.sec.android.preloadinstaller
com.teslacoilsw.launcher (Nova launcher)
eu.chainfire.supersu
mark.via.gp (Via Browser)
org.mozilla.firefox
org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard (Hacker's keyboard)
stericson.busybox
Before all mods (after boot) used memory was around 700Mb, now's around 250Mb.
Current settings:
CPU gov: Performance
I/O gov: cfq
GPU gov: Performance
I'm posting this in hope that someone can suggest more ways to reduce memory usage even more. Maybe using lighter apps (compatible with 4.1.2) that can replace the ones I have installed, disabling receivers, etc...
I couldn't find a better kernel and ROM for this variant, maybe someone knowledgeable can help building a optimized kernel with overclocking capabilities, newer governors, etc...
Thank you all and stay safe!
I've managed to get rid of the Mini Apps application and the Mini Apps themselves following the guide posted by miketoasty (Thanks buddy!):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692173
After boot, used memory is around 230Mb now!
Occasionally, I'm planning to use the tablet as a wifi extender so I've installed a hotspot app on the tablet, but there's no shared internet on the connected clients. I've never had this issue on 4.4+, is this related to 4.1? Is there a hack to make this work?
Also, what kernel manager works best with Tab 2 from your experience?
Over a hundred views and not one single reply? Come on people!
When the battery reaches 5%, the screen dims and can't adjust the brightness from settings. Found a temporary solution here (Thanks 0x6A7232):

I can tell you what I've done to improve performance:
Don't install gapps
Use L speed with everything set to performance (except for ram manager settings that seems to mess with stability)

If you read the first post you'll see that I have no gapps...
Today's update:
1. A bit more memory released by turning off some services (telemetry, analytics and pretty much anything that starts with com.google.xxxx or com.facebook.xxxx) and some receivers using Service Disabler. After boot, free memory is around 210-220Mb.
2. I've disabled: "com.android.inputdevices" and so far so good.
3. I've installed L-speed as suggested by lukigno95 and disabled the kernel manager.
Does anyone know how to remove the mobile network signal icon from the statusbar?
Is there a video calling app that works for this tablet with decent video quality?
Hi all,
Is there anyone that can help me getting overclocking an undervolting added to the kernel?
Thank you in advance!
which rom are u on?
Stock?
yes, stock 4.1.2 as mentioned in the first post...
What will help now is:
1. overclocking and undervolting added to the kernel
2. better I/O schedulers and CPU governors added to the kernel
3. remove the mobile network signal icon from the status bar since I don't use a SIM card
I hope someone knowledgeable from XDA can help, thank you in advance for reading this!
Thanks
Hi all,
I found a better launcher with low memory footprint, the issue is it only works on Android 4.2 or newer.
Essential Launcher | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.
f-droid.org
Will it be possible to make it work on 4.1.2? The source code is available, experts, please chime in!
Thank you!

Sorry its been quite sometime and no why tf would someone want to increase post count :v getting it run on 4.1 would be quite hard maybe the dev choose 4.2 as 4.1 was missing somethings? can you not use custom roms as you will get next to no app support for 4.1.2 anyways if you want to still use 4.1.2 and optimise it good luck!
