Tethering with Tasker or other automation app when BT connects to car device - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

On my old SM-G900a(GS5) I was able to use tasker to turn on wifi tethering when it connected to my HU via BT. Now with my SM-G955u, tasker cant do it due to a permissions issue. Now i can download a app/widget to control tethering, but i'm nut sure how to have tasker work with that app properly. Perhaps ther is a better method entirely to get around all of this. Any suggestions?
thanks.

[Q] Looking for Tether TO Widget

I have a Bluetooth tether enabled Android phone and Android Tablet.
Does anyone know what app (widget) can specifically connect the tablet to the Phone's bluetooth tether? one click?
without going into the settings?
Try WiFi Manager. There are different set of widgets. You can ask google too.
Took a look at Wifi Manager on the play store, the description does not mention anything about Bluetooth.

Doesn't the device connect automagically when you switch bt on? I only have to pair my devices once and the connect upon turning bt on.
No, Bluetooth tethering doesn't automatically connect.
It wouldn't make sense to.
What if WiFi is already connected?
What if your bt headphone is always supposed to be connected but you don't always need Bluetooth tethering?
In any case, I solved the problem by using Tasker annd secure settings.
It will automatically connect to the cell phone's bluetooth tether when I launch the web browser or youtube or gmail if wifi is not connected.
Gotta love android. You can make your own solutions!

[Q] Automatically turn on BT tethering?

Hi all.
I have just bought a new TomTom, which requires bluetooth tethering to be on so it can connect to the internet through the phone.
However whenever BT is turned on tethering is not automatically switched on as well, and it is a pain to have to go into the settings menu every time I get into my car.
Is there a way to automatically enable tethering when BT pairs with a certain device?
I am currently use profile scheduler to manage my profiles which on the whole is ace but unfortunately this cannot deal with tethering. As I currently have all my profiles setup on PS I would prefer not to need to use Tasker if possible.
Any help most appreciated

Auto Tether or widget to toggle hotspot

Hi,
Is there an app that will auto start tether when it detects a bluetooth connection? I have used a few in the past with previous phones and they would work with KK, but now on Note 5 lollipop they dont seem to work anymore. I've tried trigger, but sometimes it would not work. I've tried "In-Dash Tether" "AutoTether for Automatica" I've tried Tasker, I've tried all that i can find, nothing seems to work.
I'm at a point that I want to make a script that would run when trigger using in conjunction with trigger or tasker.
I need this because I want to use in my car so whenever i enter my car it would auto turn on.
Any sggestions will be appreciated.
Did you find any solution? I'm having the exact same problem

Automate Hotspot? Tasker?

I cannot get tasker or anything really to enable mobile hotspot in an automatic sense. I have used tasker in the past to enable it after connecting to bluetooth in my car to provide internet to my tablet and now it does not work anymore. Has anyone found a way to do this? I can do it manually but that sucks.

Tasker has to have root so that is why It's unsuccessful. Most apps that change system settings require root and that is the problem you run into. Until they have achieved root you are going to be stuck.

Secure settings used to do this, but I think that after nougat, it's not possible with it any more.
I would also like to know if there's a way of doing it.
