I overclock to 1 Ghz / 56 vsel and my phone is extremely stable. Im on dexters rom by the way. With the stock vsel I notice increased battery life. To increase memory I just use autokiller minfree, it modifies androids native way of dealing with apps. I use it on optimum which gives me around 60 mb free all the time. I also use ultimate juice defender which is really useful in saving battery life by toggling data and wifi for you when your screen is on or off. Give it a try.

Thnx...but I already use juice defender and if you didn't know autokiller consumes more battery and interferes a lot with the android native system so...is not that recommended by everyone!

I agree with you that task killers in general are probably bad, but Autokiller Memory Optimizer isn't a task killer. It's just a GUI to access and adjust the native Android memory manager minfree parameters. You should give it a try!

RAM

Phone specs say we have 512MB RAM.
Elixir says I have 345MB.
Native Android "manage applications" (running apps tab) says I have around 300MB (adding up "used" and "free").
What gives? My phone's not rooted, so I'm guessing maybe a portion of the RAM is not visible to me as a user?
Isn't some Ram set aside for the gpu?

Yes. Parts of the RAM are dedicated for processing graphics. That's why it only shows 345MB.

nice results, and i got excited when i got over 1000:laugh:

you may enable purging of assets as it help to freeing up ram when needed so phone became not sluggish any more
for dont know is it working or not but i pesonally enabled all cm performance options and phone never hangs or lags while playing heavy games and apps too

Samsung's Ram Usage Madness

I think it is normal ram usage for apps until the find out m8 uses only 1/10 it.You can see in screenshot what i want to say.For example whatsapp is using 122 mb ram for m8 same app is using 40 mb ram.I do not understand this.Ok touchwiz is using less ram but why the other applications usage is so high. The other example is spotify .(174 mb) Also greenify using 62 mb ram but for m8 it is only consuming 5 mb ram.
I am using audax 22.3 lollipop with civz kernel.I removed or frozen apps that i do not use and greenified some of them.
Maybe the problem for battery is this situation.Kitkat's ram management was better.
'Ang about, you are running a non-Samsung rom and you blame the memory usage in the device and not the ROM?

You are right but if you are using stock rom and your usage is lower please report it.I used stock it is same.Is it lollipop problem or system problem i do not know.
Please report your usage different roms and kernels so we maybe find out why.

God I hate that "cookie something" font so how come the ram usage of third party apps are different on stock vs. unofficial roms?

It is irrelevant but i hate it too )
Sometimes my ram usage decreasing but it is still too high. I envy htc s ram management...

COS 12s performance profiles

Anyone know where i can find the settings to change the performance profiles?
I want my balanced profile max on 1958mhz instead of 2457mhz.
Thanx in advance

First off, what ROM are you running? Do you have a custom kernel? Are you rooted? If you are referring the CM performance profiles, those are different.

The subject of the thread answered most questions.
Rom: cyanogen os 12s (17L)
Kernel: Franco Kernel 42
Rooted: Yes
And yes I'm referring to the performance profiles (powersaving, balanced, performance)

Because the cm12 performance profiles are supported in many other cm based roms too that's why i must make sure. The best way to underclock is to use a kernel app. You can handle the kernel features with apps like franco.Kernel Updater. For a free alternative, you can try Kernel Adiutor.
The CM performance profiles are like this:
Performance: enables all cores and gpu at max frequency (no hotplugging)
Balanced: Has plugging of cores (turning them on/off) with the interactive cpu governor
Powersave: Runs cores at a very low frequency for desperate users (not for every day use)
The profiles use to be stored in the ramdisk but I can't find them anymore so the above information might be old. Good luck.

Thanx!
In CM11S you user to be able to change them in the settings under "performance"
But in COS 12S it seems you cannot change it anymore, as the only option under performance is "enable per-app profiles"
