QI Wireless Receivers any good? - Huawei Mate 9 Accessories

Has anyone tried using any of the QI Wireless receivers with the Mate 9?
Like this one:
Type C Wireless Charging Receiver, CHOETECH Ultra Thin USB-C Qi Wireless Charger Receiver for Nexus 5X, LG G5, LG V20, HTC 10, etc https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N24GGP5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_SRkgzbMTEWBVK
The Maximum charging current is only 1Amp...so they could be quite slow I guess?

Pretty sure mate 9 won't support qi,metal phone an all

You're quite right. Mate 9 doesn't support Qi charging naively but you can buy Qi receivers that plug into the USB connector and fit between your case and the phone.
Here's a video;

I use a qi receiver and don't have problems.
You need to make sure to get a thick one. Thin ones don't work well with Mate 9. Your experience will mostly depend on the quality of the receiver.

i have one long time ago, it's very slow. but now maybe getting faster.

I've tried a Choetech one and it doesn't charge at all no matter how much I manoeuvre the pad with the transmitter.
Could you share info on the one you have please?
Thanks.

Yes, this is my fear as when you install one you give up the cabled charge option as you end up blocking the charging port with the receiver plug.

Qi wireless charging cover

Since the N9 does not have Qi wireless charging, it would be super if a cover with qi enabled. This exists for other devices and I hope for this device too. Any ideas?
To answer myself: You could of course buy a QI reciever and a slim case: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...ireless Charging Receiver film for micro-USB
If only something like that exists with a micro SD slot along with being able to mod the N9 to have Qi charging. Problem solved.
That doesn't work with most tablets given it's low output. I can test it when my tablet arrives this week to confirm.
I can confirm the microusb adapter pad does charge. I did a few %. Seems to work fine but cannot comment on overall speed. 650mah output listed on the back of my Qi pad adapter.

If you plan on continued use of the Qi adapter could you report on it's usefulness beyond your initial impression? It's nice to know it works but is it worth getting?
Any suggestion as to brand is also appreciated.
I bought this qi receiver from Amazon

Anyone know of a qi receiver that works with N9?

Will the tablet stop charging when reaching 100% or do we risk damaging tablet? Is this controlled by tablet or charger?

It does NOT natively support Qi charging. The Nexus 9 uses a nVidia SoC, not Qualcomm (or the Samsung Exynos CPU). None of the current nVidia SoC's support wireless charging. Attempting to use one of those jankety cases with Qi support would be a laughing matter. Call me in a month when that 6700mAh battery has finally finished charging.
There are Qi receiver available charging with 1000 mAh. And 6 hours of charging would be really ok for me.
Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I need some help.
I looked at a few of the links posted above and it looks like you can ADD Qi wireless charging to the device with a sick on pad that inhabits the micro USB port permanently. Is that right? When this is plugged into the stock USB port can you still have things plugged in via OTG like flash drives, keyboards, etc?
I don't care if it charges slow just so long as it keeps up with demand from the tablet. This would be a fixed installation in a truck as the headunit so it would ALWAYS have power when the vehicle is on.
---------- Post added at 06:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------
Specifically, I'm looking at this model listed below. The Nexus 9 is a "narrow side down" USB device and this one CLAIMS to output 1000mAh. Would that be enough to keep up with demand?

Just found a generic Qi wireless charging receiver for Nexus 6P!

I was browsing on Aliexpress.com than I found this Qi wireless charging receiver and charging Pad for Nexus 6P. I don't know if its good or not, or if it has Quick Charging function(probably not) or not. Just want to share it to everyone that's looking for something like this.
Thanks for this. But there is already a thread about this...

According to the page it outputs 5V at 1A, definitely not fast charging... but I really wouldn't expect that on something like this.
I used to have a similar style micro USB QI charger I used in the past and it worked fine on my Micro USB devices.
For me quick charging is more important to me than the convenience of wireless charging. Unless you plan to use wireless charging exclusively I find having to take off and put on the adapter often a hassle.
Still nice find for those that really want wireless charging.

Don't know if this is even possible, but it would be perfect if there was one of these qi receivers with USB C that had a kind of pass through USB C plug, so that you could have the qi receiver plugged into the phone, but still be able to plug in a USB C cable from the wall when you want the faster charger.

That wouldn't be possible without breaking the USB spec, and making it really bulky. These little qi receivers are easy to unplug, so that shouldn't be a big concern.

That's what I was implying rather than using a pass through. There's still a possibility the receiver will not work if directly touching the phone depending on how it's made, so once it can be confirmed working that should be fine.

Oh ok. I may go ahead and order one and give it a try. I just thought maybe with a case on over it, that the case may pinch the cable of the receiver and not allow you to be able to unplug it from the phones USB port without removing the case first (which would be a pain).

I might order one too since I have a plethora of wireless chargers for my S7 Edge. I'm hoping they made it correctly so it can be in direct contact with the phone (I.e. jts shielded correctly)
I have a bunch of chargers as well from my s6. So excited to get this and use them again.

OK so got mine today and works as advertised. Tonight will be the first night to test. It's slower that's for sure when it comes to charging. The nub that plugs in isn't too big, which is nice. Takes some getting used to.
If you got time on your hands and have a wireless charge handy all the times then I would recommend this. If you dont have time then stick with usb c charging ad it's faster.

Does it heat up at all? Would it be safe under a TPU case? I've ordered one along with a N6P so just waiting for the deliveries now.
Doesn't heat up, at least not that I have observed. I am using a tpu case. The fosmon cases and not an issue at all with charging.

Found some "super charger" cables and adapters on ebay

If you google hauwei super charger some cables and wall adapters show up. They look like they have the purple. Not sure if they are legit. Probly not.
I bought a couple of these on AliExpress, they look excactly the same and they do work with SuperCharge, very happy with them!
I need the cable in a 2M length. That is the issue. I see that there is one it there by Higoo but it is not available in Canada. I wish the charging technology was not so proprietary !

I confirm, ordered car adapter from the same seller. 100% genuine (passes authentication procedure on Huawei site), supports Super Charge. Very-very good price.
Thanks, man!
I've just bought a UK supercharger from eBay and after a quick search it looks like the UK versions don't have the purple. It does the job though (supercharges) and appears to have the quality of a genuine item.

Wireless Charging

Yup. As the title says, what wireless charger are you using and how well does it work?
I've got an old Tylt Vu from my Note 3 and Nexus 6 but I was never really a fan of it. Felt like it killed the battery life span quicker. So I'm a little hesitant about using it with the V30.
that's one of the features I miss the most since since I upgraded to U11
Waiting for the V30 bootloader unlocked version to get released.
Using the pad from Microsoft that I bought with my windows phones (yes plural). It does well, also a JBL Bluetooth speaker that came out at the same time which also works well.

Don't really worry about speed although it's pretty quick. It's cool never noticed hear like I did with the flat little puck style chargers. Charges through my case and I use thick cases 90% of the time. Usually promo codes out there too
Here is what I found, after answering my own question in Q&A...
tekkneke said:
After digging a little deeper, I figured it out. There are two commonly distributed versions of Qi wireless charging right now, and those are five watt and 10 Watt. 10 watt has been widely labeled as fast charging. However, there is now a 15 watt standard that is so new that it is pretty hard to get the pads for currently.
As luck would have it our brand new phone uses the brand new standard. So this means we get awesome super fast wireless charging, but it is very hard to find the pads at a decent price. Older pads do work, of course, but at the 5w speed. I tested and was unable to get any faster result from the 10w pad vs the 5w.
The 2 that I found that existed are an Incipio Ghost 15w, and Belkin Boost Up 15w wireless charging pad. The Incipio one runs $60 and only appears to be available on their website right now. The Belkin one is on Amazon for $60 but is currently backordered. There is another seller selling for $70 on Amazon, but I'm sure those will sell out soon.
Another option is AT&T who has the Belkin at the $70 retail price. They seem to have them in stock in their warehouse but very limited stock in stores.

As far as cheaper chargers if you don't want to spring for the Belkin right now, out of what was on Amazon, Anker's fast charging pad seems to be a good value. If it is still out of stock when you look, there was a Spigen one that also seems to be good quality.
Both have the overcharge protection (according to their respective websites).

I have the tylt vu -- Worked without a case, but when I put the case on (Spigen Rugged Armor) it only works when the phone is in landscape mode, or in portait mode (upside down). I'm using in it landscape mode now, but may switch to a different solution later.
Had the RavPower charger in my cart but decided against it. Not sure why. I've never tried any of their stuff before but there's a really good deal where you can get it for about $11. I think my issue was that it mentions 15W charging a lot in the Amazon page but in the specs it only lists 10W. Might still do the Belkin one. I just have to drive a bit to get to a shop that has it in stock.

I have the Tylt Vu and the Spigen Rugged Armor case installed as well. The phone does charge when put on the charger normally. I've just found that you have to set the phone exactly in the middle of the charger for it to work. If it's off by even a few millimeters, it seemingly won't charge. It's kind of annoying, just have to be extra cautious when placing the phone on the charger.

Ditto on the Tylt Vu with case. Tried it out yesterday. I want to pick up a "fast charger" to see if there's an actual difference in charging rates and behavior of the V30. (As in, will it ever say fast charging or will it just do it and not say it.) I'll probably just pick up one of the cheapie fast charge ones although I notice they all just charge at 10W and not the 15W.

Since I tend to only use wireless charging at night while I'm sleeping, I actually prefer slow chargers, which is why the Tylt Vu is pretty perfect. I've read that over using fast charging can kill your battery faster so I only use the USB C fast charger when I need a quick refill.

Probably the heat from quick charging. I know they've been working on that and that's why charging starts quick when the battery is empty and slows down the fuller it gets now. I try not to leave my phone on the charger when it's full except when driving. For the most part, the drive in and out of work are two of the three times I'll throw it on a charger. I might bring my Vu or one of those 10W puck chargers to work and just top off whatever the drive doesn't get. I don't think I've had this phone get below 80% more than once so far. It just sips.
I have this one and first test got about 70% charge in under 2 hrs. I have a fairly thick TPU case on though. WIll need more tests, but I think it's good. What should the speed be with perfect wireless fast charge?

Charger doesn't work for fast charging Huawei P30 Pro (15W needed). I used the original Huawei charger, the original Huawei cable, then the cable from package.
I bought this one. http://https://mx.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_009634537833.html?wid=1433363
I bought this one for £13.26. "Wireless quick charging" is displayed when using the supercharge adapter. (purchased separately)
Has anyone been able to confirm a wireless charger that actually charges at 15W?
The best I've found, I measure at approx 10W

The answer my friend is 1) The charger you buy has to be capable of Qi charging 15W or above and 2) The supply MUST come from a QC 3.0 (or above) charger adapter with a suitable capable lead attached to the base.
Smart chargers and plugs/wall warts rated at over 1A but not QC 3.0 rated will NOT give you 15W charging on your wireless pad.
I hope I explained this clearly. It is a minefield out there and sometimes it would help if manufacturers made it clearer what's required.

I have both and it does not work. It works at 15W for samsung.
When I ask the mfr, they tell me that Huawei uses a proprietary method to achieve 15W so their "Qi compatible" charger wont work at 15W.
Measuring the INPUT power to the charger, it is about 9.8W
If you have a 15W non-huawei brand charger that is working with the P30 pro, can you let me know the mfr and model number?

Many third party charging pads claim to be 'fast chargers', but 15W or above is only achievable with what I stated previously. The third parties do, mostly, say that you require a "QC 2.0+ adapter to achieve 15W charging" and most of them do NOT supply that adapter.
My understanding on the 'proprietary' thing is that it applied to earlier phones than the P30 (i.e Mate 20 and before) but the P30 and P30 Pro are fully Qi compatible. A QC 2.0 plug in adapter and a base that is fully Qi 15W or above compatible is all that is required. The offical Huawei branded one will charge any other Qi phone at 15W if the phone is capable, so it is not down to some proprietary thing unless Samsung and other manufacturers are in on the proprietary thing too which would mean it isn't proprietary.
Nilkin Charger 15W with cooling fan
I just got this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/15W-Fast-Q...Samsung-10-S10-Wireless-Charging/254321262871
I can confirm that it DRAWS 15W with a QC3.0 charger. Only 10W with my QC2.0 charger.
I also got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S6MVPVL
It only DRAWS about 10W
I am assuming the output power is close to the input power.
Im using the original one and beside its cool i dont see its purpose, its way faster to charge your phone on supercharger.
I'm using the Xiaomi 20W wireless charger which works great
