Dualboot patcher help - Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus Questions & Answers

Hi, someone can help me with dualboot patcher???
my actual configuration is: Xiaomi Mi5s Plus (6/128), Twrp Official 3.1.0-1, Miui 8 7.4.20 (global beta), systemless supersu 2.79-SR3 + magisk v11.1 .
I wiped cache, dalvik, system, data, then i flash miui global beta, and then i patched a lot of build of lineage and resurrection remix.
The patching process ends with no errors. When i try to install patched rom into Data Slot i have error. I try to flash from twrp and from the app itself, but i have error in real-update script. Where is my error?

Help
I cant flash roms that dual boot patcher patched them

Same problem, maybe its impossible to get it working. I don't know why. Maybe the kernel doesn't love the patcher or idk. But i tried a lot of time for nothing.

Magisk hell resolved??!!!!!!!??!!!!!!!!!!?? fix/work around

im new at thisxda stuff but i am 90 percent sure i figured out how to keep magisk from uninstalling after a reboot... YOU MAY NEED TO UNINSTALL MAGISK AND ALL MODULES BEFORE DOING THIS USING MAGISK UNINSTALLER basically you have to also install an older version of supersu and it has to be an aroma installer and install as SYSTEM also make a backup of the boot.img just incase you get bricked if you install the supersu app it will say su binary occupied but install should stay install supersu aroma (2.78v2) from https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3879523&d=1474248173 before and possibly after magisk install...only tested with magisk 16.2 beta channel and regular install not patched boot on Axon 7 with RR 8.1 weekly 6.0.0 20180225 (us variant) but should work on others probably...let me know how this goes for you
TRY AT OWN RISK I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DEVICE BOOTLOOPS OR BRICKS
If anyone has a better way to get magisk to hold after a few restarts please let me know
sidenote:this supersu does work with magisk not installed and definately keeps root
(stock boot.img is in initial zip for custom rom) select intall imgs in twrp and flash the boot partition as needed)
ALSO YOU CAN ALWAYS DIRTY FLASH CUSTOM ROM same build or higher IF ALL GOES TO **** AND WONT LOOSE APPS OR DATA AT LEAST ON RR

Bootloop after flashing about anything

Hello!
I have FRD-L09 with latest officially available firmware(FRD-L09C432B360) EMUI 5.1
I have successfully unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP 3.1.1-1-FRD.
I have tried installing custom ROMs, Lineage and the one newer from it. Bootloop.
Magisk. Bootloop.
SuperSU. Bootloop.
On Lineage ROM, i got bootloop despite formatting data before and wiping cache/dalvik after flashing.
On Magisk, i have tried latest stable(v16) and test build(v16.6), both resulting bootloop despite if i wipe cache/dalvik or not. Magisk uninstaller works though, so i don't need to restore the whole ROM again.
Exactly same thing with SuperSU.
And by bootloop, i mean that the Honor intro plays only like 2 seconds and the phone restarts.
Any wild guesses what could be wrong? Apparently the TWRP flashes them right, because Magisk uninstaller works.
I found out o some random thread that the Magisk needs a newer firmware. Coincidentally the newest update 402 came out, so i tried to install Magisk, and it works.
At the same time the TWRP app got installed also.
I haven't found anywhere that all those apps are firmware-dependent.

How to Install Gapps on LOS roms

Ive been trying every way I can think of to install an LOS rom with Gapps. It seems everytime I try to install gapps it gives me a play store or services crash. That or i cannot boot into the Rom. I was curious if anyone had a specific package of gapps that always worked, or if there is a firmware of OOS you needed to be on to be able to use custom roms. Im just a bit stuck because I have been able to use Havoc in the past, but now I cannot even get that to boot (using the procedure that is in every thread).

Wipe
Flash rom
Flash twrp
Reboot into twrp (important.....)
Flash gapps (Pico should be the largest)
Flash magisk if you are using it.
If it won't boot still.....
Wipe
Flash rom
Flash twrp
Reboot to twrp(its still important..)
Flash rom
Flash twrp
Reboot to twrp (yes.. 2nd time..)
Flash gapps (Pico still recommended
Flash magisk if u want root
Reboot and all should be fine..
If 1st doesn't work, then something has happened to a/b partition, should get fixed by 2nd
now it boots but hangs at "checking for updates"

gapps issue most likley OR magisk... what version did you download? could have gotten a corrupted zip
try this first: Flash magisk uninstaller, see if it boots.
if it works, proceed with the setup. after that, reboot to recovery and flash latest magisk (17.1 i believe is latest) see if it works.

if it still giving u issues then dont flash magisk. flash magisk after initial setup.

Magisk issues on Openkirin ROM

Installing magisk without TWRP
Hi,
I'm on the latest OmniROM by OpenKirin and I just tried installing Magisk by flashing modified ramdisk.img file created by the Magisk Manager app. It flashed successfuly and the phone boots up alright, but I can't get Magisk to work. The app either crashes straight ahead or won't turn on at all.
Do you have any ideas what I might've done wrong? I used the ramdisk.img for the Emui 8 rom corresponding with my device (FRD-L09). I'm very new to all of this.

Unable to Install/Flash Magisk Modules

Hey all,
I am rooted with Magisk 17.3 on global hardware and global ROM stock MIUI 10.2.2.0, but I cannot install any Magisk modules or flash Magisk ZIPs in TWRP. I know root works because I've edited system files and allowed a few apps root permissions. But when I try to install something with Magisk Manager (6.1.0 since 7.0.0 doesn't work < v18) I get this error: /data/adb/magisk_merge.img mount failed... abort or it tells me Magisk 17.x+ isn't installed. (I've tried the Magisk Mod Uninstaller, Youtube Vanced, and LKT). When I try to flash a Magisk ZIP in TWRP it gives me Error: 1
I did some searching and some people were getting this due to their filesystem being formatted as f2fs in the past, but I verified that the Mi Mix 3 uses EXT4 using DiskInfo.
Did I miss something during the rooting process? I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP in fastboot, flashed Magisk 17.3 in TWRP, and verified root was achieved with Rootchecker. The Magisk Manager app also says it's installed and passes SafetyNet. Anyone have any ideas?
Do you use a custom kernel?
Try the latest Magisk canary build and see if that works

No it is the stock kernel that came with the MIUI 10.2.2.0 global build. Should I be using one?
Quick update: I am able to install some modules now by downloading them in Magisk, then booting to TWRP and flashing the ZIP there. I was able to get Magisk Mod Uninstaller (mm) and LKT to run for example using this method. YouTube Vanced still gives me the Error: 1 when I do this however.
The try a custom kernel, had the same problems with any modifications to the system with stock kernel.
As far as I know there are only two kernels atm, friendly fire and androplus.
