I have flashed your build and all is well so far except for the Developer Options isn't accessable. I only use this for the Advanced reboot options and root access options. Any way to get this accessable or should I wait for the next build? Thanks

The past couple of builds somehow broke the Developer Options. Im going to guess and say it has something to do with the code for 7.1.2 being merged as there have been a lot of things changed in the Settings repo. Ive been trying to use older Settings and Developer apks but none have worked.

I have narrowed down the boot issue to the sepolicy file inside the ramdisk.

On the latest build developer options is just a white blank screen. . Now I can't figure out how to get into recovery mode, I usually just boot into recovery through adb but I can't use adb without turning on USB debugging

no need to wipe if coming from previous nightly. if u dnt wipe u can keep ur adb and root options without needing to go into developer settings.
to get into recovery hold vol. down and power until the LG screen appears
then let go of the power button ,while still holding the vol dwn. count 1sec then press and hold power again.
you will be brought to a screen asking if u want to favtory reset press yes then yes again.
it will not wipe anything but it will then reboot in recovery

Unfortunately the older ramdisk isn't going to work with the new builds as they're 7.1.2. We're going to have to wait until the issue is found and fixed in the source. Ive tried every workaround i can think of ive gotten it as far as a bootloop with the device being recognized in adb, monitor etc. going to try and debug see if i can figure out why its looping.
Looks like the last workung nightly is going to be 04/14, for now.

Well thanks all the same. You've done great work. We've pretty much handed the answer to the maintainer that you've found and they still have done nothing.

i'm keep getting update error. update completes around 45%.. then E:unknown command in red... anyone knows what to do? it goes to boot screen, then blank screen... does not boot.

Try re-downloading sounds like a corrupted file.

Well some possible good news. The next build should be fixed. The problem was cleared on the regression tracker.

New build is up on the official site and is confirmed working

Developer options still freezes. but, if you do not wipe, your settings should remain

v521-Resurrection-Remix-N-v5-8-x-OMS-LG-G-Tab-X-8.0

Recently acquired this nifty little tablet. I've toyed around and upgraded to stock Nougat (v52120f).
I've followed the dirtycow method for rooting and installing TWRP. I am able to successfully sideload latest nightlies of LOS (lineage-14.1-20170505-nightly-v521-signed) and/or Resurrection (RR-N-v5.8.3-20170509-v521-Nightly). After the flash, both my wifi and bluetooth MAC addresses have changed from the original. Restoring back to stock restores the original MAC addresses.

LOS - 00:0a:f5:23:47:54

TWRP fixes
The TWRP version still 2.8.6 but it's 2.8.7
My encrypted TWRP nandroid backups fail with the following error message:
E:createTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255

This only happens when I use encryption, and it always happens right near the end of backing up the Data partition (the System partition backup completes successfully).
N.B. The percentage of files and MB processed do not increase in-step, like with an unencrypted backup. The MB percentage increases to 90%+ far quicker than the percentage of files processed. When the percentages come in-line with each other near the end of the Data partition backup, it fails, and the above error message is given.
I was using a Titan build of TWRP to create nandroid backups on my Thea device previously, and had no issues with encrypted backups.
This is an issue, as there are sensitive security details stored in the backup, which must be encrypted with a strong password.

This happens to me all the time all of a sudden. I did not change anything at all, except for flashing a new CM version.
I also get a strange stat error, something with google.photo cache.
Yesterday, I have then flashed the new 2.8.6(7). from a few posts above and that gave my phone the rest. It might be because I flashed through TWRP itself into the recovery partition, but now additional to the backup error above when I want to erase dalvik cache, the recovery just hangs. I also can't restore a backup atm.
Now I have reflashed the real 2.8.6.0 recovery and it still hangs when I want to wipe dalvik... wtf is going on here?
And oh yea, my phone does not boot anymore either, it just loops at the flash screen...
UPDATE:
After I found some info on this thread about similar issues, I factory reset my phone with stock recovery (TWRP was not reliable anymore, even the 2.8.6.0 version that was running perfectly before) and then reflashed the latest CM on a wiped internal storage. Now I am up and running again with minimal loss of data due to my TB backups that are scheduled and save to the SD.
But this leaves a very weird feeling back, basically my phone was rendered useless out of nowhere (I was running the previous CM for 2 weeks already), making TWRP backups impossible and forcing me to wipe the internal storage with all media on it without giving me the chance to back it up (MTP in TWPR was also very flaky and died several times half in copy operations). Something is going very wrong with this phone, never ever had that on any of my 5 previous htc devices and the fact that the OnePlusOne users are among the main ones that reported similar issues, I have a feeling it is linked to cheap storage quality. Motorola is a Chinese company now after all... :-/

Best ROM for ASUS TF300T for internet browsing and youtube

Hi everyone!
After three years of a very PAINFUL experience with my TF300T, I was about to throw it out of the window. But I actually thought that I could maybe try to install some custom ROM to make it work better.
The tablet is really almost unusable, because of the fact it is so slow. Youtube videos lags beyond imagination and often the audio desyncronizes with the video itself. Browsing experience is equally sluggish with either the stock browser and chrome.
I would like to ask you guys which ROM you think is the best for these things: Youtube watching and browsing. Of course I could use other apps, but this is the main purpose of the tablet for my actual needings.
I have been reading about Katkiss roms, but there are a few versions around and I really do not know anything about flashing roms and customizing android devices. This would actually be my very first time.
The only thing I did was reverting the tablet to Android 4.1 with the official Asus installation file. After a couple of days, noticing I wasn't experiencing any significant improvement, I let the tablet automatically update again to the latest 4.2 version through the update function.
Considering this, I would also kindly ask you to eventually link me the NOOB PROOF installation guides for the ROMs you will advice me to install. I am quite scared to just destroy the tablet
Thanks in advance to whoever will spend some time to bother answering me! And sorry for any grammar mistake I could have made writing this, english is not my native language.
Francesco
Being on the last Asus firmware update is a good condition to think about installing a custom rom on your tablet. However first of all you have to do your homework as follows:
1. Unlock your boot loader with the Asus unlock tool after download from the Asus web site,
2. Install the custom recovery Kang TWRP [email protected] (http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479). There is also the install instruction!
After done this both successfully you are ready to install one of the best custom rom ever "KatKiss Nougat 7.1 Release" http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t3453702. Download the latest Rom, Gapps and SuperSu there in post #1. Please follow the install instruction given by the developer in post #1 exactly . After that you will enjoy the new life of your tablet.

Thank you for your answer!
I have already downloaded the latest Asus unlock tool (version 8) and I'm waiting for the tablet to charge to 100% before doing anything.
I have also take a good look at the KatKiss Nougat 7.1 version 12 you linked me. I understand this version is quite new, so I guess it could be less stable and optimized than the older Marshmallow version. I have also read a few people complaining about wi-fi disconnect issues (which I would definitely hate to have).
I do not care about a specific android version for my tablet, I just want it to run smoothly and without any issues and headaches considering this, would you advice me to install the Marshmallow version or the latest Nougat one?

Finally it's up to you which one you are going to use. I had been on MM 6.0.1 since version#10. Now I have been on N 7.1.0 since version #6. I have never had any problems with WiFi, Audio, Calendar or something like that. All versions run very well, smoothly and stable.
However in both cases you need Kang TWRP in order to be able to format /data to F2FS. This gets the better performance.

Thanks again for the time you spend answering a total noob
At this point I would like to ask which version do you actually like the most, before deciding myself.
Plus, I'm getting ready to install everything, but I'd need some confirmations first.
I have just successfully unlocked the boot loader.
Now, to install the Kang TWRP, do I need to download something called "fastboot"? I read this on another guide, because the actual link to the Kang TWRP doesn't exactly tell me how to properly install it. Or at least, I feel like there are advanced instructions I can't fully understand.
After installing the Kang recovery, the guide says I should do these things:
1) do a full wipe , if you have issues make sure that you format /data (format is different than wipe). I guess I can do the WIPE from the recovery menu. Should I format /data after said wipe? If the answer is YES, how should I do that?
2) Change /data filesystem to f2fs. The guide once again doesn't tell me how should I change this thing.
3) Flash the rom. I guess I have to install the ROM from the recovery menu.
4) Flash the SuperSU zip. I assume I can do this from the recovery menu aswell
5)Flash gapps. Always from the recovery menu?
6) Wipe cache/dalvik. No additional info is provided, how should I do that?
7) Reboot
Thanks in advance for the clarifications eventually provided I feel like I'm just adventuring myself in a new, huge world.

First of all you need „Minimal ADB and Fastboot“. The USB driver must be installed on your PC.
Download “Minimal ADB and Fastboot”. Make a folder C:/Fastboot and extract it there and install it on your PC. Download Kang TWRP and put it into the folder C:/Fastboot and rename it to twrp.img
Start your device in fastboot mode and connect it with your PC. Open “Minimal ADB and Fastboot” and put in "fastboot devices". The device should appear as "xxx device".
Put in "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.img" without " ".
After that you should have Kang TWRP. Format F2FS with TWRP: Wipe => Advanced wipe, check the box for data then click on Repair or change file system, then click F2FS. But /Data only not /System or /Cache!!!
Finally do all 7 steps. Flash rom, gapps and SuperSU in one run. Wipe dalvik/cache. After that reboot.

And also, if I install for example Nougat, can I eventually revert to Marshmallow if I want to?

I'm trying to install the recovery, but it seems that something is going wrong.
This is what appears on the screen:
C:\Fastboot>fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.img

sending 'recovery' (7126 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.805s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 8.019s]
finished. total time: 10.825s
After that, it seems that nothing has actually changed. I tried rebooting with C:\Fastboot>fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot but it just reboots normally. If I try going in recovery mode, I still have the old stock recovery mode.
What am I doing wrong?

If I were in your boots, I would try a clean installation of Nougatella to see whether it's solved or not.

Thanks as always for the suggestions.
I had some time today and flashed Nougatella. Unfortunately, the wi-fi issue it's still there. No sign of improvement at all.
I'm starting to get a bit mad on this. Is there any previous version without any known wifi issues? I am even open to try other ROMs. I just want my tablet to be good for internet browsing and youtube watching...

I'm so sorry for that because I was very hopeful the issue will be solved.
First of all, please check your tablet within another stable network like a free WiFi somewhere. If there is still the same trouble please make a logcat and send it to Timduru. Maybe it helps to figure out the cause. Using the terminal emulator: su ->logcat. Save the file as "logcat.txt".

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't actually have the time to test other wi-fi networks, and above all, it would still pass A LOT of time between my log sending to timduru and EVENTUALLY him taking care of the issue (provided he would).
I'd need a quick solution to make the tablet work again, considering I haven't been using it for days because of this wifi problem.
Would the Lollipop katkiss version work with the same recovery? Are there still people lamenting the same issue even on lollipop?
Can you please tell me if there are any other decent ROMs I can try with the same TWRP recovery?

So I finally got LineageOS on my Pixel. how do i upgrade it when a new LOS comes out

So the A/B structure of the Pixel (I came from Nexus 5X) took some getting used to, not having a recovery partition was a new wrinkle, and the jimmy jammy required to unlock the bootloader (I bought a Verizon Pixel apparently) was a neat trick. So I got the Pixel bootloader unlocked, booted with TWRP, installed Lineage, rebooted to bootloader, fastboot booted to TWRP, installed TWRP and OpenGapps.. Excellent! Setup the phone, booted to TWRP and installed Magisk. eveything works! great phone!
Then, a week later there is an update to Lineage. So I copy the ZIP file to my phone, flash it and OpenGapps and reboot. Boom. all screwed up. no problem, I'll restore from the backup I made in TWRP. nope. bootloop. then I read that you restore BOOT,SYSTEM IMAGE,VENDOR IMAGE, and DATA. NOT all the partitions as I had naively thought. Turns out I boned the backup and didn't backup the DATA partition so the Restore works but all my setup stuff is gone. My fault.
I went through the entire process again. Phone is working fine. All is well. Heres the question: What is the appropriate method to upgrade Lineage when a new one is released? So that I end up with new lineage, updated OpenGapps, TWRP working, and Magisk keeping me rooted? I can just keep trying to figure it out but I dont want to keep starting at zero with my phone.
Thanks in advance. I searched diligently on the forums but it looks like not that many Pixel users use Lineage.
Cheers
d.
130 views and no one knows how you upgrade LineageOS? is anyone using Lineage on their Pixel? Really?
I just discovered Lineage OS for my VZW Pixel. What build did you use? If I can figure out how to install, I'll try playing with updating, too.
Where did you end up downloading LineageOS from? I'd be curious to try it as well.

I probably should have looked there. I didn't even realize they supported the pixel. It's been a while since I've messed with things.
I've been using LineageOS and it's great. Super stable compared to most of the other ROMs I've tested. These are the steps I take when upgrading to a newer build.
- reboot to recovery (TWRP)
- install lineage-15.1-xxx-nightly-sailfish-signed.zip (no wipe or anything beforehand)
- install twrp-pixel-installer-sailfish-xxx.zip
- return to TWRP main menu and select reboot, then Recovery (whenever it prompts me to install TWRP app I just hit "Do Not Install")
- once back in TWRP, install MindTheGapps-8.1.0-arm64-xxx.zip
- reboot to system (again, I always decline the TWRP app installation)
- once you've booted to system, reboot to recovery one last time.
- install Magisk-v17.x.zip
- reboot to system and you should be good to go.
I always have a recent backup from TitaniumBackup stored on my computer so if anything goes wrong I can do a clean install and reload all my apps.
awesome. I'll try that. I'm using 15.1 10/23/2018 version and I have backed up so I'll do it. one question, do you reboot between installing lineage zip and twrp installer?

No. Install TWRP immediately after installing the Lineage zip, before rebooting. Otherwise when you reboot to recovery it'll be the Lineage recovery and then you'll need a computer to send any other files you want to flash.
Also, they just started releasing builds every 24 hours. You might want to check the changelog every few days to see if there is anything new that's worthwhile. Some days there may actually not be any changes at all.
@CapriciousCrawdad
well I tried it today, just as you have it written in your post (other than what I assume was a typo where you say "return to lineage" in step 4 where I think you meant TWRP) and what it looks like is my working installation is on partition A and after installing as you specified it tried to boot on B and couldnt get past the Google screen. so I finally got it to reboot into TWRP and switched back to A and got my phone going again with my old October revision. the only difference is that I use OpenGApps and not MindTheApps. so tomorrow I'll try it with those.

Whoops. Indeed, that was a typo in step 4. I edited the post.
Not sure about your problem though... I do remember specifically reading that opengapps can cause some issues but I can't find the source of that info and I don't think that it had anything to do with updating the system. I'm on mobile now but I might have time to check it out tomorrow.
If you haven't already, I suggest you check out the official LineageOS thread for the Pixel and Pixel XL. There might be some helpful info there.

yes thats where i ended up. tried to update and got bootlooped, my backup didnt work for some reason (do i backup EFS partition also?) so i started again with the instructions in that post. i used the Gapps package from @razorloves and it all worked. setup my phone again and now it upgrades fine using the Lineage updater although i have to reinstall TWRP and reroot (using SuperSU from Lineage) when that happens. razorloves hasnt updated his google FI compatible Gapps package yet so i will see how/if i can update those when the times come. on a side note, im getting really good at setting up my pixel. got to look at the upside.
thanks for your suggestions.

Unable to boot recovery after Android 10 Open Beta 1 OTA

Hi everyone!
Issue is pretty simple to explain - after upgrading via OTA from the latest open beta Pie (29) to open beta Android 10 (30), I can't boot into recovery.
System works normally, the only thing I'm having trouble with are the generic issues discussed on the OP community forum (autorotate and other sensors, Gboard gap...). It is recommended repeatedly that one should reboot to recovery and wipe the cache partition.
The problem is that I can only get into fastboot mode - tried the advanced boot menu, adb/fastboot and selecting recovery mode while in the fastboot mode but it always goes into fastboot.
TWRP doesn't support android 10 yet as far as I know and I've found no other reference of this issue anywhere else. Only thing that comes to mind is to wait for the next open beta and hope it will be resolved after another OTA.
Thanks for your help!
seems the open beta install was more bad for you than mine. Upgraded from op29 to op30 like you, but i had everything stock. No unlocked bootloader, no big customizations, etc. I just tried entering recovery mode via fastboot and it worked like normal for me, had to enter my pin to decrypt my data, and the rest like normal. I'd suggest to downgrade back to pie and reflash the open beta software to see if the issue is gone or not, but that's your call to do so.

I think you stumbled across the answer everyone has been searching for. How did you upgrade? Did you download the whole zip and flash through updated?
This kinda makes sense. Do you remember how big the update file was? It could have been an incremental rather than a full if you weren't unlocked and thus (maybe) didn't change fastboot.

i grabbed the update file from this news article from xda itself: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-android-10-oxygenos-beta-oneplus-6-6t/
the update zip was the full update and not incremental. i updated my device using the local device upgrader found under the system update settings to do the job for me.
Edit: this part down was meant for OP, sorry for confusion
so far when i updated last night, the auto rotate was tripping, until you mentioned that wiping the cache should do the trick (and it did do the trick thanks for that).
But back to your problem, you should try flashing the file under the link i put into this reply and if it doesn't work, just back up your data, downgrade back to pie, and flash the full update file that is present within that article and you should be back to normal

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, it seems that having root and having recovery isn't possible for me at this point.
I've installed the OTA, got the recovery back and managed to wipe cache and everything worked - except I didn't have root. Then I've installed the magisk boot image to get back root, but then the same issues started happening and I was unable to access recovery.
Now I have to decide what's more important :crying:
Use an older version of magisk and you won't lose twrp

As stated above - just downloaded the OTA Android 10 update file for the right device, installed it and didn't install magisk to inactive slot and I had it back. If I tried to install magisk to keep root I didn't have the recovery mode. My guest guess is that magisk still isn't fully compatible with the new Android 10 boot changes.

To me having a stable phone is much more important than a heavily modified device that's unstable at any given time. I'd say use the msm tool, flash back to a fresh build of pie, download the full open beta 30 zip, after its done flashing, reboot twice to iron out any present issues, then unlock the bootloader, and then you should be good to go. If you want root, just fastboot boot into twrp and flash the latest magisk zip and you're good to go. At the end you should have root, an unlocked bootloader, all while on the open beta android 10 build, with access to the stock recovery

Just because you report it on official does not mean it will be fixed any quicker. See my post in my builds for what I need for people to test if it will be fixed or not. I do not have Whatsapp so unable to test.
I install last version of this rom in h990 ds and when i left the phone in charghe phone freezing and problem is solved after reboot phone i think this is kernel problem
Easy Method to Go From Unofficial Lineage 17.1 to Official Lineage 17.1
Backup data partition using TWRP
Factory reset phone using TWRP (option is under the Wipe menu)
Install Official Lineage 17.1 rom
Install Magisk 20.4 if you wish
reboot and wait for about 10 minutes until Welcome screen shows on your phone
Power down the phone, and go back into TWRP using the manual method
Once in TWRP, restore the data partition you had just backed up
reboot and wait for another 10 minutes
That's it.

I agree with the process you described.. Make certain you are fully working on Unofficial 17.1 before moving to Official version.
Hello all. Brand new to XDA, created an account to join the discussion here.
Dirty flashed this over unofficial 16.0 successfully. Using Nano Gapps, no kernel or anything crazy. I'm absolutely loving it and flying along.
One issue I'm having right now is a lack of audio over bluetooth in calls, or microphone. I can't make or recieve calls over bluetooth with either my WI-1000x neckband, or my car. Calls themselves work fine (Does this have VoLTE or WiFi calling support?) but my bluetooth calling doesn't work at all.
I can listen to music fine, but when using discord or calling, no dice. I'm new, so I don't know what kind of information I need to provide to get some help - but I have tried wiping my cache/dalvik, unpairing and repairing, and turning bluetooth on and off. Nothing has worked as of yet. I can take a bug report or get a log or something if you need, don't know how.
Anyone else experiencing this issue, or are your calls over bluetooth working? What do I need to do to submit a bug report, or is it something I'm missing and an easy fix?
Thanks all!
Hello
I am successfully flash it..now how to enable the quad DAC in this rom?
Do I need to swap recoveries from twrp to lineage one to try this Lineage OS version? Do I need to use the to-x86 zip like the others require?
One last question, can I easily swap between this and Stock 7.0 if I want for ls997? No ARB issues I hope

U could possibly try to add dac with an app called Lg V10 DAC FIX from playstore. I haven't tried yet myself tho, I just read something before about it.

First of all. It's an official build and therefore you shouldn't dirty flash. U need to factory reset and clear cache and dalvik. Do not format your internal storage. It isn't necessary
