[Q] Raise the dpi

halo
i don't see so well and the Resolution in the one s is to high to me
i raise the DPI Through rom toolbox to 260
but i get some error of the system ui "Unfortunately system UI has stopped"
for example when i enter to "recent up" i got this erorr and i can't enter there....
there is a way to fix it ??

If I'm not totally wrong raising the resolution will result in smaller letters. You should lower it instead. So please try it.
And you can change letter size within settings -> display & gestures -> font size. By default it is medium, so you can change to large or extra large.
At least under accessibility there is an option named TalkBack, which will activate a spoken feedback to what you touch, choose or activate. I hope your ability to see is not that bad!

I just checked that out.
What's with the notification about it "collecting" info? Collecting it where? And what? I didn't go any futher.....

I am not sure if this will actually work but if you have root you can edit your build.prop file. In that file there is a line that refers to ro.sf.lcd_density. By adjusting that number up or down you can change the dpi of the screen. Now that does not necessarily mean that all of your apps or even the Sense UI will work correctly, but it might be worth a try.
If you want to easily do this I would download the BuildProp Editor app from the market.

Haven't tried it on this phone, but at least on every sense Rom I've used for the hero changing LCD density has always messed up everything. One of the reasons I allways used aosp

as i said i did it with romtoolbox. it is the same , i raise the dpi to 260....
it makes some problems with system ui and i got some errors
i now replace the rom to miui and the dpi change doesn't Affects the system ui
dpi change can be on a rom without htc sense ui and i think even regular ice !
but..... now there is some problem with the market because Resolution Compatibility i think... there is some app i can't download .....
for now i need to come back to 240 dpi for download some apps and its Annoying
maybe if could change the Resolution to Exactly 800\480 i wouldn't get the market-app-Compatibility issue but i dont know how... maybe someone know how to do it?
my vision isn't so bad and i know the regular options aka font enlarger Etc ...
dpi change is the best choice for me .

I saw somewhere in seething a dpi seething, but never touched, i only set up "small" in display size.
QUESTION:
use smaller screen size and/or dpi will consume more battery while screen active?

Answering my own question:
Small: 423 dpi
Default: 360 dpi
Large: 320 dpi
A 5.5" 1080p screen pixels are actually 401 dpi so would the 'correct' settings for the 100% Android stock experience be 401 dpi with default font size?

401, who is the "natural" dpi for a 5.5 inch display full hd, seems much cleaner and defined compared to the 423 default minimum dpi.

I may sound crazy but I use 500 dpi. Initially I had set to smallest which I later turned it up to 500 after finding it could be changed in the developer options. I have a lot of real estate on my phone now. It kinda feels I'm using my computer on my phone and since I do a lot of coding everyday, it feels natural. Give it a shot. It may feel weird, but give it a shot.

I set mine to 420, which translates to 411 when I checked back in the Display settings

I set my dpi to 480 and battery life did not changed at all, i still have 8/9 hour sot

how to get sot 8/9 hour , i use only ludo king , sometime browsing get 6 h.

Screen text size too large even with settings on small

Anyone else noticed for such a large display the text is overly large, see pics & YouTube clip I have the Samsung tab S 10.5 & more text is filled on the screen than the Huawei 10.8" display (even the nexus 10 shows more text) & that's with the Text size & view mode set to small because of this I would end up scrolling more. This is making me think twice about getting the tablet. The one I reviewed is my parents.
Does not help that the max home screen grid is only 6x5 where as the Samsung tab is 8x6 which is better.

in the landscape picture it mostly is because of the navigation bar you dont need wth the tab s.
I agree with it being slightly less dense than your parents tab s but I only have a old notebook as a comparison (with 1366&768 resolution) and am perfectly happy with the tablet. I suppose this could be changed with a custom rom though.
Edit: btw if it is just the browser you can adjust the scale. in firefox go to about:config and search for font.size.systemFontScale. I've got it on 70 instead of 100 and can fit a lot more content.

First of all which OS is the Tab S running. Is it the old WebView which comes as separate App, or does it already have the new WebView which is integrated into Chrome. Seems as if it is the old one on the Tab S.
Regarding the Launcher grid well yeah EMUI is different to TouchWiz, less rows and columns on the grid, but less lag fest as well. If you want to obtain more rows and columns on the grid change the launcher let's say to Nova Launcher Prime.

I agree, I've done the same. For me, it's the non text items that are far too big. It feels like they've taken the 8.4" tablet and just scaled everything up.
I use a value of 950 - if you go smaller than that, the settings pages can become unusable. Note that this gets set on a restart, so you have to go back to Developer Options and set the value again. Still, how often do you reboot the tablet?

Optimal DPI

Hi,
what is optimal DPI in your opinion, for the OP7 Pro?
And how does variable screen resolution affect DPI set in settings? Times used to be easier when display resollution was fixed at 1080p. Do one needs to disable this autochanges in settings to keep table image size?
I used to have either 390 or 400 DPI set virtually all the time on my Oneplus 3, Oneplus 5 and Oneplus 6T... But with this unnecessarily high resolution that is, absurdly, used only sometimes, I would like to hear your experiences.

In OOS, I use the "Small" setting in display which comes to 470dpi
In AOSP, it is probably pretty similar. I basically move the slider in display down one notch. I am not currently on AOSP so I'm not positive what that setting is or the actual dpi value.

Question Is it possible to get low DPI on most apps, while having default on things like Tiles.

So i really like the DPI at 200, it means I can see more than 4 lines of a text message and dont need to scroll for days to get to options in most apps, but having the GW4 on dpi 200 is a mess, the tiles are just shrunk down and attempting to work in the top left quarter of the watch while sometimes elements from them(like weather) will try to centre making things overlap and ruin the visuals.
Is there any way I can have my low DPI without having janky tiles? am I just choosing bad DPI numbers with the ones I have tried and that is what is causing it? Preferably id like to be able to choose the DPI per app but I assume that isnt possible

Let me put it this way. You use android smartphones for some time, right ? At last 8 years, right ? Have ever seen in any android phone dynamically adjusted DPI per app ?

I'm not sure if it's possible to change DPI per app via ADB, but you should be able to decompile each APK and manually set the DPI in Android Studio. It could be a lot of work if you want to customize a lot of apps, but it's an option if it's important to you.

I am not shure if it is move in the right direction. Lets say you rework app to 100 dpi BUT display will still work in 200 dpi. So the visual will be distorted.
This is not Windows where app can set display of the monitor to required resolution.

I don't know per app but you can increase or decrease all on your SW4.
