Gyro support for Honor 6X? - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Does it has Gyroscope atleast now ?
Hoping to use the VR with it...

Yes, it has gyro. At least in the EU model.

Gyro too depends upon the regions?!!

That's what this threath says https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/honor-6x-quick-specification-t3534457 . I have the EU model 3GB/32GB and I can say that it has gyro and NFC.

I think all android devices released come with a accelerometer or a gyro of some sort.

Accelerometer is there. But manufacturers are skipping gyro to cut coats. Hoping to see gyro in 6x indian variant.

Considering that accelerometers function on the same principle as gyroscopes on mobile devices. I can understand why some device OEMs are skipping them in favor of accelerometers.

EU version has Gyro but no US version as confirmed on some other thready by someone.

Good one buddy. Enjoy

But the gyroscope is very bad. It trembles a lot and is very slow.

Is this the same as Huawei GR5 2017?

Looks like it's only released in Sri Lanka for that name.

I think Bangladesh & Nepal too. Sri Lanka anyway doesn't get the Honor brand much the Honor 5X came as Huawei GR5 a with a Kirin processor instead of snapdragon 616.
Honor 6X = Huawei Mate 9 Lite.
I don't mind the brand, I just want this one fast (in the Netherlands).

Will it come as Mate 9 lite? Back in November I saw that it was rebranded as Mate 9 lite and huawei had a page for that phone on their website, but somehow that site isn't there anymore. I have a feeling they might go with the Honor branding

Huawei and Honor both have different strategy, even though honor is sub brand of Huawei. I have asked this same question to honor president in carnival and got a detailed response on this that cleared the doubts. There is good amount of difference as well in their pricing.
Huawei- higher cost, premium series phones, mostly in house Kirin processor, high end camera with their partnership with lieca
Honor- budget segment mostly (apart from Honor 8 and Magic)with mixup of Kirin and snapdragon processors, started shifting to high end and dual cameras in Honor 8, Magic..

Great explanation. Thanks. In China, there is even more sub brands of HUAWEI, so they categorize the market into more subs.

Is it Honor 6X only? If so, it will be in same section once custom roms are out. And it should support your phone also.

Mate 20X/Install Update/Unbrick - Official FunkyHuawei Thread for Mate 20X

This is the official FunkyHuawei thread for the Mate 20X.
What FunkyHuawei Supports Currently:
1. Firmware Installation / Unbricking
FunkyHuawei supports the Mate 20X for unbricking and firmware installation, but support has not yet been made public. This will be updated when it is.
2. Rebranding
Rebranding is currently not possible on the Mate 20X, even with root or unlocked bootloader. If this changes in the future, it will be updated.
Those who need to install updates and so on are welcome to contact FunkyHuawei support for help while the release of support for this model is still private.
Any other questions, feel free to ask them here.
Can you unlock the bootloader so it can be rooted?
Also, is there any difference in hardware between the 6/128 China version and the 6/128 Global version?
I see people mention google support, but how can it be impossible to install google stuff on a rooted china model?
Thanks
Hi, would these apps work on this version of the phone?
- Gboard, Google Pay(I usually use it for contactless payment), UK banking apps(HSBC, Barclays, etc)

I dont believe there is any hardware difference just maybe 1 let band difference. Chinese model will get updates quicker as the main base is in China so there update that model first . Google pay etc worked fine on my Honor note 10 which came out in August, call it the smaller brother which has no global ROM .
I personally prefer Chinese model , can delete most Chinese apps fine , yes some will remain and some Chinese characters in certain parts but still prefer Chinese model

@duraaraa,
I haven't been around here much since back when we goofed around with the Mi Mix (recall I sent you one I got so you could work on it since you didn't have one). Anyways, really glad to see what you have done with FunkyHuawei and all - impressive you turned your hobby in to a business so congrats.
I am curious about buying the global from your site. I am very likely to pull the trigger for one of these soon, haven't had a Chinese phone since my Mi Mix and Mate 9 (sold the Mi Mix ultimately for being to rough around the edges in terms of software and the mid range camera but kept the Mate 9 and was pretty happy with it for a while with no real issues once setup properly). Can you give us a summary of the finer points you see as advantages to getting a global from FunkyHuawei verse just getting a Chinese version with Play store already installed?
P.S. Anyone looking for a great unlocked Note 9 with bunch of accessories and whatnot send me PM.

I think you might have mistaken me for someone else about the Mi Mix, but I did work on the Mi Mix 2. I've never actually seen a Mi Mix 1 in person
The Chinese version uses various Chinese services instead of Google Services, and some of those can't be changed. For example, for location services. For the default voice assistant. And so on.
I've heard that OK Google doesn't work on the Chinese version, while you can use it to unlock the phone on the international version, and so on.
I had thought that Chinese version wouldn't pass Safetynet, but I'm not sure. I've also heard that the Chinese version doesn't allow you to change the default launcher. The dual app feature supports whatsapp and facebook on the global version, but wechat and chinese apps on the Chinese version, and so on.
If you don't live in China, getting the global version will work out better for most people.

Certain google things can be installed on the Chinese model. But google is baked into the non-Chinese model. So things like OK Google (to wake up the phone), google assistant as default, Google used as location provider, and so on, will be available only on the international model.

As far as I know you can't unlock the bootloader or root these at present.
If 'Enable OEM Unlock' becomes select-able in developer options it would be possible.

Hey guys.. Hope you all are enjoying your new phone.. I just wanted to know its sound quality.. Like playing music on speaker.. So how is it.. Please comment
Hello. The loudspeaker quality is amazing. There is good amount of volume and thumping bass to it. Mids and highs are also good. Overall a good loudspeaker to fill a medium room.

Before buying do check what bands of LTE/3G/4G are supported by your carrier in Europe. It's only made for India and china so maybe not all bands are working.
The same was with Realme 2 Pro. In it's costliest version, it supported all bands so it could be used anywhere.
Search on Gsmarena.com with a phone you are using and this phone.

Its all relative...how high are your expectations and in how far do you believe all the you tube reviews on new phones?
Huawei does like Samsung and Apple a good marketing with the aim of you believing them and buying their devices and this every year.
I had a Mate 9, Mate 10, Mate 20pro and now the Mate 30pro and the only one which I was not happy with camera wise was the Mate 10. The pictures from that phone looked often like oil paintings. I disagree about the Mate 20pro, it improved after upgrading to android 10 and its camera was - is good. Cannot judge the P30pro.
I do agree that some people will never be satisfied and always find excuses to complain, I am sure that these people have nothing better to do than complaining. These people should understand that if you want to take good pictures you buy a proper camera and not a phone with a camera but then we talking again about expectations.

Why do mid-range phones not have a magnetometer?

As the title says, what do manufacturers have against magnetometers ?
For e.g., even the USD 300 Realme 7 Pro does not have a magnetometer.
Anyone who uses, say, Google Maps knows how useful it is. And, AFAIK it won't increase the cost much.
Is there a like good reason for not including a magnetometer?
No one else thinks magnetometers are quite useful ?
Another e.g., Moto G9 Plus. Cost R$2.499 (USD 470 ?). No magnetometer.

Looks like some mid range phones do have a magnetometer/magnetic induction sensor .

Maybe people have forgotten that a phone can have a magnetometer ...
... and how useful it is in, say, Google Maps.
Yeah
I've never had a midrange phone that didn't have a magnetometer. Even my LG G Stylo had one.

Among the recent releases : Realme 6 series, Realme 7 series, Redmi Note 9 series, Redmi 9 series, Moto One Fusion+, ...
EDIT : Correction - Some of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9 models has a "E-compass".

One simple answer...
Cost effectiveness.
Incorporating magnetometer means including more hardware, which requires more hardware/software development as well, which means more money.

To the best of my knowledge, including a magnetometer would not cost much. In a phone costing USD 150+ the cost increase would be insignificant.

My point is, everything a corporation does or doesn't do, is motivated by cost effectiveness, regardless of what you, the customer, believes would be insignificant to their costs or profit margins.

Is a 'Magnetic Induction Sensor' same as a magnetometer?

The answer to that is both yes and no, more of a yes than a no but not a complete yes.

Will it do the job in Google Maps ? That's all I want to know.

Yes, it should.
A magnetic induction sensor is a magnetometer of a sort, but, a bit more specific. A magnetic induction sensor is a magnetometer but a magnetometer is not necessarily a magnetic induction sensor.
