I need helping rooting my Amazon Fire 5th gen 5.3.2 OS - General Questions and Answers

I have looked extensively for a good method to accomplish this but so far, all I have found is for version older than 5.3.2. Does that mean that there aren't any tutorial available or is it that my device is unrootable? Thanks in advance!!

Looking at Fire OS, all versions above 5.1.1 are just modifications done over Android 5.1.1 so any method which works for 5.1.1 should work for your version too. Try them as per guides which you'll find here.

Does this mean that my version doesn't need to be downgraded before the root??

Hi there!
Since Android OS version remains same it may not have any effect on root methods. My suggestion is to install custom recovery as soon as you make some system level changes like bootloader unlock/rooting. If anything goes wrong you can flash some roms and fix any possible errors.

Nihal

[Q] is this official lollipop update?

Hello on turning my phone on this morning I am prompted with this (screenshot below) and I'm skeptical about installing it as I love 4.4.2 if I install and do not like can I come back to 4.4.2? Is this lollipop?
Yes that is a Lollipop update. The clue is at V20C.
I'm assuming yours is D838? From which country?
Are you using some mods for the data speed and temperature on notification bar?
Don't worry, you will still be able go back to 4.4.2 by using the KDZ or TOT method

Yes D838 TWN model there is a screenshot if you need anymore info, and yes network speed indicator, CPU temperatur and CPU voltage in the top left as I like seeing what's happening at any given moment, the phone is stock rooted and the mods are through exposed, if I update to lollipop will I loose root? And also my mods? I would like to update but I would really dis-like not having root or my mods as they make my phone just how I like it would feel very bare without them.

Thank you I've just had a read and should be fine returning to 4.4.2 if I'm unhappy.
Yes this is what I suspected I hoped I would be able to gain root but I did assume exposed would not work thank you anyway for your helpfulnes! I will install later on and give opinion on how it feels and runs, I will miss root and exposed.

You may get root on Lollipop by flashing zip files (rom and SuperSU) from 4.4 recovery, more information at: http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/rom-d83820c_twn_pure.37488/ . I did this way and got root on my D838 Lollipop device

Well, when you downgrade just exclude data, you will get FC's but that just whilst you are on the lower firmware, once you root, install recovery and flash a pre-rooted zip (Again, exclude data) you will be fine.
Or (For the third time) look in the general section to see how to root lollipop

Cubit S600 update question

Hi all,
I have just got a Cubot S600 to try out Android as I have always been a Windows Mobile user.
The phone comes with 5.1 out the box, would it be possible to flash it with 6.0?
Many thanks in advance.

Official update of marshmallow is not released yet for your phone. You can check for updates in your phones settings if you want.cubot hasn't released list of phones to receive the updates either.
You can flash unofficial android 6 custom ROM if it is available
Look it up

Thanks for the reply, I understand that marshmallow is not available.
When I was cooking my own winmo6.5 ROMs I had to only have certain ROMs. I have been out the game a while, would any ROM work, or would I need specific roms ?

Looking for Official Support [Mate 9 Lite - BLL-L23]

Hey, everyone,
I just bought a new Mate 9 Lite [BLL-L23] and would like some help with how to make it my own. I am familiar with other devices - but, not the BLL-L23.
I am very appreciative, my friends! Here's what I'd like to know:
1. Does anyone know when we'll get Android Oreo (or, at the least, Android Nougat)?
-- I am currently running 6.0; EMUI 4.1.
2. Is there an official support forum for the BLL-L23?
3. Does anyone know how to root the BLL-L23 using Magisk or Chainfire (which is better)?
4. Is there a recent TWRP recovery available?
5. What else should I do to take full advantage of my device?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR EVERYTHING, EVERYONE!

I am currently downloading the latest full firmware, and I know it's not a problem to install it - but, when I check the Firmware Status, it says that the firmware is not approved for installation. Is there still a way to install it? What does this mean? Thank you very much, PalakMi ?

Mate 9 Lite is a rebranded H6x, OpenKirin's TWRP works fine. You can also use Firmware Finder for updating. Magisk works fine too. I think all Custom ROMs on this forum should work. I'm planning to flash RROS but I'm waiting for some bugfixes.
The only thing I suggest you is, if you want to update your Stock ROM, you MUST flash the right ROM for your device.

Has anyone gotten OOS 12 on the IN2019 (Verizon OnePlus 8)?

Been looking for a solution to convert this device to the global variant successfully with the modem working or to get Verizon to release the update. It's been one year since Android 12 has been released and it doesn't seem like OOS 12 is coming anytime soon, so if anyone knows how to get the modem working on the global variant, I'd be glad.
The hardware and kernel source are fundamentally different on the Verizon model. Even if you somehow got global firmware installed with working data, you'd have a lot of other bugs and glitches because the hardware isn't compatible with the Global OS.

It works quite well. on the V model (that's what I have). but you need to back up your modem for data. It's best to reset to 11 factory. Then you can run ROMs that are OS 12.

I did not use a specific guide. I have been rooting the phone for some time and found that I could flash os global using a fastboot flash ROM. If you root your phone and save the stock os the 11 modems you can replace it in the global rom.
I will correct myself and say that I don't remember for sure if global will work (for modem replacement) but you can get custom ROMs to work well with that method.
I would have to go back and sort through for the links or try again to be sure. But if you know what you're doing, it is pretty hard to brick the phone. So play around with other guides. (with your own risk and discretion involved).
You can even run android 13 on the V model( not good IMO. buggy).
