If it's paired through Bluetooth then it should. Just like if you're paired to your vehicle's stereo, the calls should be able to go through that device as well.

Yes.
Non-LTE can make calls both via Bluetooth connection to your phone -and- via wifi without a phone (latter needs a voice call app).

Which app? Is whatsapp, Line, Viber or Skype app available for the Samsung Gear S3?

Gear S3 Won't Connect To Samsung S8+ via Bluetooth?

As always; feel free to flame away at this stupid question but please provide an answer as well ... Also, please read carefully because I have a feeling that this might not be as stoopid of a question as one might assume...
I am trying to use my Gear S3 (AT&T) for standalone calls and it works just fine standalone until it connects to my Samsung Galaxy S8+ via bluetooth, at which time it tries to use my S8+. When I go into my Bluetooth settings on my S8+ for my Gear S3 and toggle-off the setting for "Use For Call Audio" my Gear S3 once again can be used in standalone to make calls ***BUT*** (and my question) it then disconnects the Bluetooth connection ENTIRELY from my S8+, which makes it impossible to use S Health. If I go into the "Samsung Gear" app and select "Connect" it then turns the damn "Use For Call Audio" feature back on! What the funk?!
I know that Serial connections are possible as well... not sure if that is my solution...

Think this is related to https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/help/gear-s3-samsung-s8-connection-problems-t3615848 which I posted in. Same type of issue here.....not sure the solution.

Gear S3 and Car phone audio connection

I have a problem with phone audio connection when using my car, Gear S3 by default set to answer calls, also my car bluetooth sets to accept calls when it's on.
Problem is when I get into my car, Gear S3 still connected as phone audio connection and my car cant connect to phone audio.
Is there a way to set priority for bluetooth connections that when I am in my car turns off Gear audio connection and turn it back on when I am not in car?
Or is there any other solution to solve this issue?
Thanks

It's R760
That is strange. I have a note 4, both gear and car head-unit connect to it by bluetooth. My phone audio connects only to the device that answers the call.

Maybe it's because I am using non-Samsung device?
Do you enable phone audio for your watch bluetooth settings?
Watch is connected for phone audio at the phone's Bluetooth setting.

So both your car bluetooth and watch bluetooth have phone audio option enabled and both of them connect to Gear at same time?
How do you answer calls then?
Both car and s3 are connected to the phone so either one can answer a call.

And the audio is routed to the answering device. It would be nice to be able to answer the phone with a swipe on the watch and have the audio go to the device of your choice. My old Moto 360 did this, probably because it had no speaker though. It was convenient.

My car doesn't connect to phone audio while Gear is connected, I have to disconnect gear first. Phone is Nexus 6P
Seems the Nexus 6P has a bit of issues with bluetooth connections with cars, https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=.....1.1.64.psy-ab..0.2.341...0i20k1.cGibaV3ew9Q
Maybe can you can try it with another mobile to see if the problem lies your phone or car.

I can confirm the Nexus 6P bluetooth issues. It drove me crazy. Switched to an S8+ and those issues disappeared. In re to the OP, my gear s3 works seamlessly with my s8+ and my car's bluetooth connection. Which device answers the call, it's gets the volume. I noticed mention about being able to direct the connection to a different device: this option exists for my S8+ but I haven't seen it on the Gear. Maybe because of a lack of screen real estate?
I'm using oneplus 3t and have exactly the same issue, both car and watch are connected and none can take the call. Has this been resolved by anyone?

Connect to phone via BT but not for call audio?

Is there any way to have my Gear S3 Frontier LTE connect to my (Samsung Note 4, Android 7) phone but not for phone audio? I often use another headset for calls etc, and that interferes (and then I have to go into the phone BT
settings and turn the call audio for the S3 off before the other headset takes the call audio.
My Gear S3 has LTE, so it does not not need to take the call via the phone. Either I take it on the phoen viw my other headset, or I take it via LTE on the Gear S3 (at least that's what I want).
I haven't touched an N4 in awhile, and I may not be correct on this (please understand, I am only guessing based on memory). That being said - If you are on Stock Samsung Android7 OS, I believe the version of android you're on does not have the additional controls for Bluetooth devices. The additional controls would allow you to turn off call audio, under the GearS3 BT connection profile. If you've rooted the phone look into a mod that exposes it.
I have the option in the attached screenshot only. I can turn that 'call audio' off in the profile, but that will disconnect the watch from the phone completely, so that not even notifications etc are transferred.
Also, I have to do this every time after connecting. I would loke for the watch to connect for all non-audio (no media nor call audio) purposes automatically.

Gear Sport to phone connectivity on bt/wifi

Getting mixed results when searching on the internet for this, but when the watch is connected to the phone via wifi because BT is out of range, will it get notifications that I got a message or that someone is calling? If so, can I respond to them or answer the call via the watch?

Question Call notification does not work with remote connection

Galaxy Watch 5 LTE and Huawei Mate 9 . I've been pulling my hair off to resolve this simple matter
With Bluetooth connectio everything works normally (messages and calls received on mobile are routed to the watch)
What I really want is to receive notifications of a call, or at least missed call, when phone and watch are NOT connected via bluetooth and watch connects via LTE.
In Settings > Advanced Features I have enabled Remote Connection and or all MESSAGE notifications (WhatApp, SMS, E-mails) are properly received on the watch.
However, CALLS and missed calls notifications are never received.
Interestingly when I turn Bluetooth off on the watch to simulate them being apart, for a breif moment after bluetooth is off (I get the beep that watch disconnected)), everything works.
Watch displays incoming call (if I try to answer it directs me to look on phone) and later i recieve the notification of a missed call. This is exactly what I want.
But, as soon as Wearable app indicates remote connection has been established ...adios notifications. Watch reamins mute on every subsequent call.
One more thing, If I open a Phone app on the watch I see missed calls there. so watch is geetting this info from mobile. I just doeasn't alert me properly.
Why is it such a problem, bearing in mind that it really works in some circumstances, that i get the notificstion of a missed call in the same manner as I get the notification of any other message.
Please help!
I'm new to using watch myself.
I've got Watch 4 Bluetooth.
Phone is S22Plus.
And notifications and calls work for mine.
I turn off Bluetooth and watch and phone are remotely connected over wifi.
Could you show options for remote connection? Mine does not have calls toggle. Maybe this works on a Samsung phone only?

Thanks. Do you have LTE or BT version of the watch? I don't have calling item at all. It could be that I it doesn't work properly on a non Samsung phone.
I've used the Samsung phone and it's the same. No calls or missed call notifications when bluetooth is off. Not even on WIFI.
This is like they assume your LTE would have the same number as your mobile and there is no need to cloud sync..
What a BS that you cannot receive calls (nor notifications) on LTE version (when BT is off) but you can on BT veriosn of the watch at least over WIFI. because there is a bonus option for calls in the remote connection tab.

Mine is a BT watch.
Yeah that is odd. It helps with the battery a lot if we use wifi only.

I'dont mind using LTE for connectivity. You are connected to internet all the time. It's just odd that LTE version is handicapped comparing to BT version that it cannot deal with the remote calls at all. And that is visible by the lack of the call option Iin remote settings on LTE phone.
What is the logic behind this.?If I buy more expensive phone with more connectivity options, in reality Iget less..
This is plain stupid and unfair.
