Phone skins are really great to add style to any phone, plus they’re not expensive, but they provide minimal protection if you happen to drop your phone. On the other end of the spectrum are cases, which are generally more expensive but offer much more protection. Cases are bulky and they don’t let the beauty of your phone show through because they often have to cover all four edges as well as the back of the phone.

That’s where CrashGuard by RhinoShield comes in. CrashGuard is essentially a bumper case, which means that it does not cover the back of your phone but only the sides (thus giving your device a more “naked” feel), but because of how it’s engineered, it provides more protection than most cases. CrashGuard is far superior to the bumpers of the past because it has been engineered to absorb impact. This is done by utilizing a proprietary polymer material that is far more shock-absorbent than plastic, and it also has a protective honeycomb structure within the bumper to disperse impact properly. In fact, within the honeycombs are compartments of pressurized air that act as airbags and deflect impact energy. If that sounds really elaborate, it is, and the net result is that you can drop your phone from a variety of heights (up to 11 feet) and if you have a CrashGuard bumper on the phone, you’re going to have a completely unmarked phone. If you want to see how incredible this protection is, watch this video from David Pogue where he does everything in his power to smash his phone by dropping it from a tall ladder.
Not only are CrashGuard bumpers durable, but they’re lightweight (with most of their bumpers coming in under 14 grams). They’re also pretty grippy thanks to the matte finish, and they come in a variety of colors. Another thing we really like about the CrashGuard line is the pricing: the Pixel XL is priced at $24.99, and you can pre-order a CrashGuard for the Pixel/Pixel XL.

Where is the blue to match VZW true blue? Anyways, good bumper, true bumper, is always welcomed!

Any pictures of the bumper? How wide is it?

Any plans for clear and or orange?

This bumper added a lot of widness/tallness on the 6P and I imagine this will be the same. It will probably be manageable due to the Pixel's smaller size (XL included), but still... I'd like to see them make a more minimalistic bumper too.

Loved the crashguard on my Nexus 6P, so I might as well get this too for my Pixel XL

I just hope this Bumper is better than the crappy one Verizon sold for the Moto Z Force. That thing really was bad. The best bumper ever was the Nexus 4 I think, the all glass Nexus. That bumper was great looking.
I gave a Rhino arriving weds. Amazon has them before Rhinos website does

I can say that this bumper is great, I have it already and it adds very little bulk to the device. I didn't like it in the 6P so much cuz it made it very wide.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

You guys should try it in person, it made my 6P horrendously large and hard to hold that I returned it.

Reviews looks pretty poor on the Pixel Xl version. Is there gonna be a revised 2.0 version?
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

I've received mine today.
I was using a Spigen rugged armor before and the bumper feel so much nicer. It doesn't really make the phone wider and it feel good to touch the glass/metal

I've seen such mixed reviews on this bumper. Right note I'm using a cheap tpu car and it's ok but I'm looking for something more premium. My wife just dropped and shattered her iPhone today and I'm thinking I need to bump up my protection but I hate bulkiness

Yeah, I don't get it. Some are saying maybe it's the first batch that is an issue. I have such a hard time taking the bumper off and I'm even scared that I would damage my phone putting so much force on it just to remove a simple bumper. It's such a shame cause I really like having it on my 6P and it feels real nice on the Pixel except for the tight feel. You can't even put a DBrand skin on it with the bumper cause it'll scrape off the edge.
I've reached out to them to see if there was an issue with the first batch. And if they say no, then I would not recommend them to anyone.

I can confirm its pretty tight.
I tried to remove it and I couldn't. I'm also scared that it will crack my screen from the pressure needed.
Even with the bumper in, I can still use it in my daydream so I won't bother to remove it at all.

So, I just decided to buy another one but from Amazon this time, which has mix reviews. This one still has a tight fit but not as bad as the one I pre-ordered from RhinoShield. Their response to me was to make a video and direct me on how I can get it off. Did not feel like putting that one back on because it's just that dam frustrating. Don't know how many people that had issue actually emailed them but I think they should take the review more seriously and actually test it themselves. At this point, I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Unless they want to test their luck on getting one that isn't so tight.

Those who are using this bumper, is there any problem with 3.5 mm jack? Heard that its difficult to plug in and out headphones and IEMs, is that true?

Mostly an issue with headphones with a 90 degree connector. My favorite IEM has one and I can't use it with the bumper. I am waiting on some adapters to remedy this but they will negate the benefits of the 90...

[REVIEW] Rugged Armor Case - Love Mei: Powerful

I arrived at work this morning and I'd received a new case for my Galaxy Note 4 to review! Happy days!
I'm currently dissecting it now and will update this thread later today, but first impressions.... this thing is BIG!
I've personally never seen anything with such heavy duty protection for the Note series, that's not to say they're aren't others, it's just a new one on me.
If you're scared of damaging your device, then this robust looking thing may be right up your street.
More to follow shortly while I put this thing thru it's paces.

PACKAGING:
The packaging is pretty decent to be fair, and definitely has a premium feel to it.
THE CASE:
Straight out of the packaging, this is what you get, they've included an Alan Key, to actually get into the thing which I think is good of them.
I've had "screw in" cases before, where you end up having to search around in the spider invested drawers of your garage just to get a key or screwdriver small enough to fit these things, so definitely a positive on that front.
Open up the case here is what you get inside:
Two Lanyards
An alcohol wipe
Cloth
Spare screws
And a second Alan Key
It's simply a case of unscrewing the screws and dropping your phone in
The inside part where the phone sits is rubber, with parts of it made into a honeycomb mesh, I'd say there's about 1CM of the stuff that separates the phone from the outside world once fitted.
The other materials used are aluminum for the front and back plate and it also has it's own glass protector which states to be Gorilla Glass, I can't confirm or disprove this but it's definitely glass.
The glass itself is clear and does not impair viewing and because the glass is attached to the case and not adhered to the screen, you do not get the "halo effect" associated with the current tempered glass protectors currently on the market.
Once installed get ready to start weight lifting, the whole thing together is "HEAVY", most definitely not something you'd want to stick in the top pocket of your shirt.
The only part not covered by this case is the rear camera, but is protected to a degree, as it's set back from the surface of the case.
Because the whole phone is enclosed, you have some raised capacitive buttons, to use instead of touching the phone itself, they work really well as does the responsiveness of the screen and the S-Pen on that screen, the S-Pen doesn't work with the capacitive buttons though, not a big deal but it's something to be aware of.
The ports for the Pen, USB and headphone socket are all covered by a cap of some description, the case states to be "Weather Proof" and I think it most definitely is, everything seems to lock together well, but it's not raining here (for once) so can't test this right now.
On a side note, I'm happy to report that all the cutouts for the ports and sensors are precise, everything I can see so far makes me have a feeling they've took care in creating this case.
The back of the case has a raised rubber backing, giving it some friction to stop it sliding around.
It's not as "grippy" to my bare fingertips though.
CONCLUSION:
This case in my opinion is great for those who do a lot of outdoor activities, or work in outdoor conditions and want to protect their device the best they can, this really does feel rugged and up to the challenge, in stopping rain and dust getting to your Note 4.
I personally would use, but only when I'm going to the beach or out camping/walking in the countryside with the family, not as my daily protection, for the adventurers out there, this is thing will be a great investment.
For the average person like myself, it's just two heavy and adds a substantial amount girth to the size of the Note 4 to use full time.
My everyday protection comes in the form of a Spigen Neo Hybrid, which in itself isn't exactly slender, but providing Love Mei don't ask for it back
I'll use the Powerful when I know I'm going to be going somewhere that phones are "allergic to" as this thing feels bomb proof.
Cheapest place I could find to get this was direct from them http://www.lovemeicases.com/love-mei-powerful-bumper-for-galaxy-note-4/ at $49.99
I like he case, but the branding on the front is the big turn off for me.

I know, mental ain't it! you need to have big hands to handle this with one hand, I'm 6.1" have sizeable hands and can just manage to handle it.
These cases were originally copied from a company called Lunatik.
Lunatik really dropped the ball making anything outside of the iPhone only cases.
That Note 4 version sure looks huge. Makes the Defender look slim.
A kickstand would have been nice. If it had a holster I'd buy it. I particularly like the glass protection screen considering there isn't a glass protector that fits properly w/o a halo available and I like the water resistant feature. Did you test it making calls and know your voice doesn't sound muffled?
From a bulk standpoint it doesn't look any bulkier than any other highly protective case like the Defender for example.
I see where others are talking about seeing the case, but I don't see any pictures that are posted. Were they taken down?

We only get the black and glacier in the UK. It's a bit of pain to order from the US because I always end up paying custom fees and the case itself is pricey already. And then I don't want to buy from a reseller because I am not aware of any reputable ones. You never know whether it will be genuine. I bought one for my S4 and it was a really bad clone. Oh well!

I always put a rugged case on my new phones for a couple of months. By then I have my eye on something new. Then I take off the bulky case and enjoy the phone for a while before I sell it.
Thanks for the detail review, firstly I'm hanging on between love mei case and lunatik takkit, now I will go for love mei to have my N4 under extreme protection....
This case seems solid on protection,no other cases will have a better performance on guard...

To case or not to case?

I've ordered 3 cases, received 2 so far. Both are just ok. Nothing looks as good as the naked phone. What caseems (if any) is everyone using? Those who don't use a case, do you worrun about scratching the camera or screen when laying it down? Thanks.
I keep my phone in a sunglass bag and in general it's always worked well. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the S6 because one drop can crack the entire back. Plastic may not be "premium" but it is a lot harder to break. That being said I'm not even sure a case would prevent a crack just from shock rather than a direct hit. It'll be interesting to see how many phones get messed up in the next couple of weeks.

A lot of reviews seem to indicate that the S6 is rather slippery. That alone would warrant a case for a lot of people, I'm sure. It prompted me to order one.
A case probably won't save the phone from a high drop, unless getting something pretty bulky. I'd rather get something slimmer to protect the edges and back from scratches and chips and just be diligent about not dropping it. The case I got is the gunmetal version of the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. Though I think they sent me the slate one by mistake because the color is nothing like the pics on Amazon...
As painful as it will be, I'd suggest using a case. I went with a case from LUVVITT that has a transparent scratch resistant back. So while I can't see the metal sides of my phone, I can at least see the back of the phone, plus at least I know it's safe
I'm going to put a case on first months because I need to get used to shape and form I'm always clumsy first months now I use my s5 without any protection since September nothing happen but on first months the more I take care the more I hit the phone on surfaces.
i've always used the flygrip on my devices but also always used it on a case , i never ever ever have droped my phone once my fingers are locked into the flygrip. i will however be putting a case on this device.

The official Otterbox site says "no" (at least for the Commuter cases), but lots of anecdotal evidence gives a qualified "yes." I suspect Otterbox's flat refusal is so nobody will ask for their money back if the wireless charging doesn't work.
The longest I've ever used a case was maybe two days. I hate cases because they make the phone feel bulky and I prefer to feel the actually phone.
But a couple weeks I dropped my Z3 on tile, cracked the front glass and part of the screen doesn't respond to touch. So, the S6 case is on the way. I'll save money in the long run from having to replace screens.

I said it in anther thread too but for a leather pouch type case I wouldn't look past etsy, some really nice stuff, a lot of it handmade, many sellers will customise it for you and if you choose well you will get a much better leather than you would from a mass produced item unless you are prepared to pay top dollar.
Fitbag is my go to pouch brand. I love the beat black leather pouch as its got a lovely soft microfibre lining but they do loads of alternatives
Their website is in German, so you have to use Google translate or chrome, but they deliver just fine to the UK.
When you order just stick the name of your device in the box and its custom made to suit

No they don't, but the leather is extremely soft and very flexible (not hard and stiff like most pull tab cases), so I just grip the side of the case and push the phone out from the bottom through the case, it is very easy to do

The Fitbag pouches are already on Amazon UK. I really can't decide between the Fitbag or the MediaDevil, the MediaDevil looks like it would add more protection but might be a bit bulky for me

I looked at the fitBAG on YouTube and not sure on the thinner material. The one from MediaDevil is thicker and has a pull tab. That said I stopped using the tab after a while and started to just tip or pull the phone out as the case took shape of the phone.
Being a thinner material and a snugger fit the fitBAG certainly looks to use less space.
I'm a bit worried after seeing the bend, scratch test. Maybe I need a stronger case.

I think these bend tests are ridiculous, if you're putting that much concentrated force into a phone to snap the screen in HALF then in the words of apple "You're holding it wrong".
If you need a case to prevent the phone from breaking when you do load it that much, then a leather pouch, regardless of how thick it is is not going to protect the phone imo
I treat these pouches as form of protection from scuffs and scatches from dust/grit in your pockets, and if you accidentally rub a set of keys over it.

Yeah kinda like that, cos its so flexible I push up in the middle and hold the edge of the case, pushing the phone out.
It feels very much like a slim fabric sleeve but the with water resistance of leather, big bonus if someone spills a drink on it!
I used to have stiff cases that needed pull tabs, but hated the fact that the edges were wider and hard to accommodate the edge stitching
The fitbag one has no seam at all to speak of, the size of case and phone is basically just the phone so it cuts down on the size of the thing in your pocket, which for phablets is a big bonus
Soft MF lining is really nice too, cos its tight to the phone, it cleans the screen when the phone is inside and then when you pull it out its clear of prints

Have used fitBAGs (all Fusions) for my last 3 phones (Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5, and my Nexus 6P.... if it ever arrives). Although they do not provide much pysical protection, and no drop, it has done me very well. I use a hard case when needed, but the fitBAG is my day to day case / pouch.
Hi there,
I really wanted a sleeve from SENA, but I don't believe their Android cases sell very well so I'm not holding my breath for a Nexus 6P sleeve (they themselves told me they wouldn't do a Note 5 sleeve due to this factor).
I snapped some pics of how my 6P fits inside my iPhone 6+ sleeve and also with my FitBag iPhone 6+ sleeve as well. The FitBag is a good fit, the Sena sleeve is unfortunately just a little too short to work well for the 6P.
Here is the Sena:

I received my POETIC Affinity Series Premium Thin Fit case in the mail today. The case was packaged well and was received very shortly after I got my tracking number. I must say the buttons have a good feel to them when pressed using this case. I can feel the bottons and know when they are pressed. This is important to me. It is a lot better than the MoKo clear case I purchased recently. This case provides good protection all around which includes the back, 4 sides and front (small lip to protect the screen). The thin polycarbonate Spigen case I am currently use does not cover the top (headphone jack) or the bottom (the charging port) section of the phone. The 4 corners of this Poetic case has some additional protection from what I can see. It should help against some minor drops. The back is polycarbonate and the sides are TPU.
I also removed the cover a few times and noticed it did not scratch my phone which is awesome. The case can be easily removed if you want to clean the phone. This is important because I have owned other cases where I was scared to remove it. No one should fee this way.
I also slid the phone in and out of my jean pocket without any issues. I have used many different cases in the past and have found some to be very difficult to pull out of your pocket.
There are a two raised lines on the back of the phone which help prevent it from sliding around. I placed it on top of my laptop lid and began to open it. The phone did not slide off which was neat. I assume it will help keep the phone from getting scratched when placed on a rough surface. Ever placed your phone on the ground to tie your shoes?
Overall, I enjoy using this case. I recommend it to anyone who wants extra protection without the bulkiness. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

wondering if I should get this in white or black. I have a graphite nexus so would the black stripes look bad? and I have two clear cases so I'm wondering if I should get another with the frost white. wish someone had photos with the graphite nexus 6p.

Get the black...try something new. Take a chance! =)

I believe I said this in another thread, but couldn't they put their P anywhere else like above the S or below the N?
I got the clear, black one. It's the perfect case with that one blemish mentioned above.
Another review of the black case.
Things I like:
1. The grip on the sides and back while still remaining thin.
2. The black accents on the graphite phone.
3. Button response
4. Cutouts that work
5. Fit finish and build quality.
6. Raised area around the camera
Things I don't like:
1. Too many "tramp stamps". Is there a need for three places of branding.
The "P" on the rear covers the "NEXUS" text. Not cool. The other two I can live with.
2. I would prefer the FP sensor cutout to be smaller.
Overall I like the case and I'll use it as a daily driver for a while.
I have this case with my carbon fiber warp from slickwarp.

Hi guys,
Our production team is working on a new and improved version of the case by raising the "P" so it won't block the beauty of the Nexus brand as well as removing the 'affinity' on the side. Hope that helps. For those who received a case from us - we will be happy to send a new and improved version Please PM us or email us at [email protected]
Cheers!

If we purchased through Amazon should we contact you there or through the email you've provided?
Mine just came in and it looks and feels fantastic. Could do without the extra branding so I'll be contacting Poetic to get the revised version when it is released.
good combo on the frost:good: my main concern is protection as im pretty prone to dropping my phones lol, so could u plz update on how it has held on till now, and how good is it at actually protecting the phone.
Sorry but... these are ugly, inelegant and cheap-looking. Why mar such an elegant, refined device like the 6p with a case for teenagers? Companies really need to move away from selling stuff like this. It looks like a UAG knock-off -- and UAG's are ugly monstrosities.
But, you know, different strokes for different folks. Live and let live and all that. Nice is such a broad term.
I hate to revive a dead thread, but I just wanted to drop my concerns in case anyone decides to buy or try a different case in the future. This case caught my eye since I am rocking the gold 6P. I ordered the clear Affinity case and at first, I was very pleased. After using it for approximately a month, I have noticed my phone wobbles a bit with this case on. Looking at the case on my 6P, I realized that the Affinity is about 1-2 mm taller than the actual phone... like there is a noticeable gap between my phone and the inside of the top of the case. This 1-2mm space is the cause of the case moving somewhat when on my 6P. The price is great for this case, but honestly, I would not recommend this case to anyone. I've also just noticed that the case somehow managed to get the NEXUS wording either burned into the case or somehow imprinted on the case. Maybe I just got a lemon, but this is a horrid case.

S10 Pitaka Aramid/Kevlar Thin & Minimalist Case [Pre-Order Discount]

Probably the best case ever, for me i have to get it whenever i get any new devices, i got it for my pixel 2 xl, s8, s9+, Note 8, iPhone 7 plus, iPhone X & iPhone Xs Max.
and i have never change to any other brands. Right now it's a good time to get the case because of the pre-order discount as it's on the pricey side. Definitely must have for thin case lovers, one of the thinnest out there but build with quality.

The case edge is cut out around the buttons.
I have one on my Note 8 and the vent car mount with Qi charging. Really the best setup I've ever had. The case isnt drop rated, but is SUPER thin and light, and not slick at all. WELL worth the $$

it should be like my s9+/note8 case cutouts for volume button but top and bottom wrapped.
Pitaka has a known problem with not covering the sides very well and also leaving the screen fully exposed. Many other manufacturers are at least providing raised lips on their cases at less than half the cost of Pitaka. They really need to start doing that. You won't be losing any thinness or aesthetics, but you'll gain face down screen protection, and enhanced protection from short distance falls/drops.
Other than that the design, look, feel, durability seems to be great.
True ..it’s mainly for like us who loves the thin profile and the flushed corners and sides.. not too particular about drop protection to be honest

I'm not 100% sure of the known issue you're mentioning. As far as the screen being fully exposed, personally I wouldn't want any of it "Not exposed". These cases aren't at all designed for drop protection, and frankly even if they did provide raised lips, the case material itself gives no drop protection at all, it's all very thin carbon fiber.
I think one of the challenges some of the case mfg's are faced with is these phones with the curved edges and the use of screen protectors. Seems like a design nightmare
I've had this case on my N8 from day 1 and as far as I'm concerned is one of the better cases I've ever owned and honestly is one of the main reasons I didn't get a N9 (they didn't make the case for it)

The goal isn't really drop protection as much as it is gaining the ability to put the phone face down on a surface and not worry about it getting scratched. If they were to increase the vertical coverage of the corners, topside, and bottomside of the case just enough so that it was raised 1mm an upper/lower lip, then the phone' glass wouldn't make contact with a flat surface like a table. If you were to take a naked phone and place it on a table face down and move it around a bit, you'd likely end up with a ton of scratches.
No worries, I'm working on my own 3D printed Galaxy S10 case that should resolve these shortcomings.
I actually contacted Pitaka 6 months ago asking them why they weren't already doing it on the iPhone X, and they mentioned that it would be much much harder for the user to apply the case to the phone. I asked them why Spigen was doing it for less than half the price, and then I was shunned away.
By far my favorite case I ever used. Have had one in my s9+ since the day pitaka became available
Agree, with the low profile and button cutouts it's awesome! Cheers
Looks great except the price. Have to use dbrand alone.

For those looking super thin cases. This is the thinnest in the market.
I got that before for my pixel 2xl, texture of the case feels like cheap plastic but true that it’s the thinnest around.
the pre-order discount would end any time soon.. save as much as possible!

It's fine if you don't drop your phone because it's junk if you want any type of real protection. I've had one in my hands and a piece of cardboard taped to the phone would offer the same protection.
My standard setup for every phone is Pitaka + Whitestone Dome screen protector. This adds roughly $90 to the cost of obtaining a new phone but for me, it's worth it.

Anybody know if this case may affect the reverse charging function of the s10 or s10+ since these cases have the magnet built into them ?

Carbon fiber is expensive. You should see car/motorcycle parts.
