Best VR headset for Moto ZF? - Moto Z Force Accessories

Anyone recommend a budget friendly, solid headset for the Moto Z/F?

It would be cool to see a a VR set specifically for the MZF. I see a few possibilities on how they could make the VR another "mod" offering.

Maybe one with a wire...or wireless display to make it lighter and more comfortable

Is the Samsung VR compatible?

Lol I don't think the VR will make your face blow up. Unless using it with a note 7

Sorry had to,but Im curious about vr for this phone, Im curious as to if the daydream viewer will work.

I got this one for $40 and it works well with my Moto Z Force https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KZ1392Y?tag=- It's a pretty neat experience when watching 3D or 360 videos. Only thing to keep in mind and something I was unaware of when I got mine is that some VR apps require a "action" button, which is a magnetic button that not all headsets come with. Mine does not have the "action" button. A lot of apps however let you choose to use a "action" button or to focus. The focus is pretty sweet. You just look at what you want to open.

Looks like daydream is officially supported with the Nougat update according to Moto here . I ordered one and should have it Wednesday. Just hope the OTA gets here in time.

Initial impression is pretty good. Remote is pretty cool and I tried a few apps and quality is good. I've been a little spoiled with my PSVR but this is great for mobile. I had to side load the daydream app and keyboard because play store said it was not compatible but it all seems to be working right now. Most daydream apps I could download but there was 1 or 2 games I had to side load. Quality seems on par with the GearVR but imo the remote is such a better input method than the touchpad on the GearVR. I only tested a little bit because the OTA drained my battery so I'm charging up now to test more later. If there's anything specific you want me to try let me know I'll be trying again in a little bit.
Edit: Guess I should point out I'm using the Moto Z Droid not the force. Not too sure how much of a difference the shattershield makes as far as quality.

Ok. Phones almost charged up so I'll try in a little. I tried one 360 video on YouTube earlier and it didn't look bad. Hulu I have installed but I gotta see if my subscription is still active. Netflix unfortunately wasn't on there yet. Yea I love the PSVR as far as gaming but imo it sucks for media use right now.

Just watched some family guy on Hulu and it wasn't too bad. Screen door effect is noticeable but not too bad imo. It's just like the Hulu app on my psvr and makes it seem like your sitting in a living room and you can change the environment. The YouTube app is pretty awesome too and works pretty well. The biggest gripe I have with this headset is the light bleed which you'll notice in a lot of reviews. It sort of leaves a glare on the lenses but it's not too noticeable when your actually getting into it. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Can you give your impressions on gaming? I have never used a VR headset and don't want to drop the money on a PSVR right now.
How is it playing action games or the new HP game? How is VR gaming experience overall? (In its infancy/pretty sweet/novelty)

So far I tried fantastic beast a little and it was ok but more like a virtual experience not bad for free though. Aside from that I tried VR karts which was fun steering with the remote. Heading out to shop right now but once back I'll try some more games. I know it won't really compare to my PSVR but in my past experiences with mobile VR the gaming isn't too bad.

Im curious, would changing the dpi alter the screen door effect at all since we now have full control over that?

[quick review] Vainworks stand - Turn back facing cam fowards!

hey guys. just got my vainworks stand in the mail. for those who dont know, google it.
basically its a stand with mirrors on it. the mirrors play off your phones camera and gets the image to face you as the phone sits in the stand. you can flip it upside down and do landscape aswell.
phones with cameras closer to the outer edges work better. phones with cameras in the middle of the phone may not see good results. i know the eris is one of these phones. as well as the mytouch 3g.
if your cmaera is closer to side edge, it will work great in portrait mode. if its closer to the top, it will work in landscape well.
i have tried this with my G2, my girlfriends HD2, and my friends mytouch3g. the g2 works. not 100 percent...but definately works. video calling in portrait mode was 90%. landscape mode was 70%. i would recommend this to every1. with a g2. if you have an android in general, i would definately atleast check it out.
the HD2 camera is in the middle of the phone. this affects the landscape mode. you will still see results but they will be minimal. 50%at best. but...luckily.. the camera is kind of high on the phone so...landscape mode works well. 80%
HD2 will work over Tmo 3G. no lag. used tango to make calls.
also made a call to a friend using a mytouch 4G. of course....his FFC worked. but it was the first sucessfull video call to him i've mad so far. (showed me his car after an accident. was pretty awesome.)
tried video calling with G2 and HD2. had to use in landscape due to i wanted to see my girlfriend and portrait mode isnt as good for her. but was win.
downfall...1.complaints of low sound. i heard them pretty well though. little low but they apparently really had trouble hearing me. had to speak pretty loudly. 2. its little enough to bring with you if you have a backpack or something, but its "mobile". i cant exactly walk around with it in use.
ya know what, though... at 1 priced at 17.99$ and 2 for 25.99$...ya really cant go wrong.
Wow, if it is like the first few I saw when I googled it.. looks lame and big. I like this one better http://www.gizmosforgeeks.com/wordpress/uploads/2010/12/onemoreface.png
which was in this forum before but they didn't have money to manufacture it or something

I think most people are looking for something smaller and more portable. Most guys don't carry bags. Not to mention I don't see a lot of people video chatting or even desiring the ability to video chat. Also, your quoted price is a tad off.

i also have a macbook. i could video on that too but...why? people are lookin for smaller and more portable.. sure. but while every1s waiting...im video chatting every day. most guys dont carry bags... but what about bookbags? i know plenty of guys with em. full grown men. i lug a bookbag. i dont carry them.
people are wantin something smaller...more portable... but dont have a desire to video chat? ok...if they dont want to video chat...they wouldnt want a more portable solution to it. would they?
my girl got 2 for 25$. maybe after shippin was not 25$? i dunno. could be a dollar or 2 off. maybe 25.99$?
so as i said before... you can wait for your more portable, smaller version of what i already got.... but while you wait...i video call my girl and my friends everyday.
in fact...heres one now. keep waiting.
The price for 2 is actually $30 plus $5 shipping. I don't know any man that carries a bookbag, heck I don't even carry a purse. So that is a little bulky for my taste. I will wait for a more portable one and buy it and never use it. I see my husband at home no need to see his face on the phone too. Thats nice that you enjoy it, though.

Always curious to hear.
Got mine yesterday.
It's all screen! Lighter, thinner than GS3. Feels more like a small, thin Note 2 which is a good thing to me. Not so bubbly as GS3. Screen is amazing. Bloatware is out of control. The back looks kind of like snake skin.
The speaker is much louder than GS3. So far, I love it. Haven't even tried the features yet!
Anyone else?:good:
Got mine yesterday as well. Extremely nice screen! Gorilla Glass 3 resists finger prints better then advertised in my opinion and the overall 5 inch display is incredible. Super zippy but yes, comes loaded with Samsung and AT&T Apps but this shouldn't be too surprising as Samsung did advertise there software quite a bit. Only natural they put there mark in it. On the flip side all this is easily fixable once a root is out but EVEN with this stuff the phone manages to handle it's memory well and work fast.
Overall I am glad I waited and after a couple of weeks I think there people freaking out are really gonna kick themselves for getting all worked up over stupid problems that are easily dealt with.
Got mine yesterday. see my bloatware thread.
Hardware is amazing and top notch. Software is so bloated and bogged down that, when combined with locked bootloader, I will strongly consider returning.
People might flame me for this, but even with the bloat disabled and using Nova launcher, my gs3 running slim bean is faster on everyday tasks.
Just hit 5% battery life and the phone just automatically reduced brightness to a point that I can barely use it, and phone won't let me crank it back up. Just way too much garbage.

screen is mind blowingly good, i had a HTC one for 3 days before i got my GS4 and honestly the one was closer to the s4 then i thought it would be. the one had less bloat and it stutter a bit less (after freezing bloat my phone has gotten ALOT better). camera is awesome love the quality and wow this phone is so small for 5 inches. coming from a note 2 and a temporary lumia 920 this thing feels tiny and light, honestly one of the major selling points of the gs4 is it's bezel less design (imo). if bootloader stays locked for long i am selling it or trading it for the one or octa core version.... its a shame that the stock rom is so bloated, i traded the one back because i thought sammy software would blow htc out the water but it didn't . One more thing, the GS4 tv remote works 10000 times better then the htc one. htc could not sync to my sound bar or u-verse box no matter what i tried, the GS4 had that working in seconds. i have 3 remotes just for my bed room and the fact that i do not need them is a huge plus.

You might need to play with the settings some more for the auto brightness settings. As for the lag, AOSP ROMs have always been faster (in my experience) to Touchwiz Roms. I'm going to put up with the stock Touchwiz for as long as I can before trying out the first releases of AOSP on the GS4. I'm hopeful we will see some crazy development action if it's true the Quad-core international version ROM's can easily be ported to the US versions and vice versa. The international GS3 had so much to chose from. I was perfectly happy on my GS3 using AOKP, but I'm sure I'm not going to regret moving over to the GS4. I had the same debate when switching from the GS2 to the GS3.
I dont get mine till tonight, but I found one in a best buy mobile store and was surpised at how much stuttering I saw just going through the homescreens.
Im hoping that when I disable all the eye tracking stuff that will all run better.

Here are some photos I snapped this morning in challenging conditions: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oll6vneulv13mz6/TZcApg0pCD
Overall, better than Galaxy S3 by a decent margin. But I used to have an iPhone 5, and my initial impression is that the IP5 takes better pictures than the GS4, at least in these conditions. I feel like it was extremely rare that I got a bad photo out of that phone, even in a relatively dark room as in these pictures, but as you can see in my link, several of these are pretty bad.

Your pics look pretty good to me. I'm viewing them on my 24" monitor at work though. Cute dog btw. I'm sure compared to the ip5 the gs4 will have better detail due to the higher resolution in normal conditions? Is there an exposure setting? Or other settings to help low light conditions?

Now that I've taken a second look, I guess you are right that they are pretty decent, except for one of them. I'm so used to looking at things on a small screen that when I blow it up on a big monitor I expect it to be just as sharp on a big screen as it was on a small screen!

i agree. those pics you posted dont look that bad. that's the problem with the htc one camera (i own one) when you increase the resolution of the pic, the quality suffers due to only being 4mp. the gs4 is 13mp so it wont be as bad when you increase it's resolution (although there will still be some kind of quality drop off).
Just frickin' awesome. After having the Note this "cheap" plastic feels luxurious
Got mine today. Coming from an LG Optimus G. Here's a few thoughts.
1. I really like the keyboard. But since I've been a swiftkey user for a long time that's no surprise.
2. Screen is very good. Wish it was a little brighter when using auto brightness, but it is very good nonetheless.
3. Maybe I'm just not that picky, but I don't notice any lag. At least not anything bad enough to complain about.
4. Seems to charge pretty fast with the included 2 amp charger.
5. It might be plastic, but I can tell you I like the light weight and the feel in my hand better than my LG Optimus G...
6. I thought the 'swapped' menu and back buttons would bother me. But to be honest, I kind of like it better...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
I have a few questions,
1. Does the speaker have 'stereo sound' like the HTC one? Can you hear the base? What about hooking up to the headphone? Does it sound better than S3?
2. Anyone here uses Allshare cast? I have a Samsung LED Smart TV that I stream movies directly from my phone to the TV with a touch of a button on the S3. It does have occasional lags, however. Does the S4 do the same?
3. Does the S4 have the same amount of ringtones like the S3?

I actually really like the button setup. When I got my first smartphone like three years ago, it was a Blackberry, and it had a similar button arrangement. It went [PHONE][MENU][HOME/SELECT][BACK][END CALL]. My current Galaxy S2 is [MENU][HOME][BACK][SEARCH]. So the S4 will be the same as I am used to, and I will appreciate not having to get used to a new setup.
two issues.
1)wifi keeps on disconnecting... very annoying
i have another device on the same wifi, but it's not disconnecting at all.
2) RAM. even if i clear everything, i'm at 1.2GB ish.. i always notice the homescreen widgets refreshing themselves due to low RAM.
anyone else?
everything else is fine.
speedy, beautiful screen, good speaker, very nice camera, etc.
Speaker is very good; coming from S2

Gear VR discussion

If you haven't tried Gear VR yet, I don't recommend it! I happened to be in Best Buy and the mobile guy talked me into trying it. It is so insanely awesome! Now my wait for my phone is going to be so much more painful.
That was worth starting a thead for ...

Yeah I never personally cared about it. But after trying it out at Best Buy... Samsung knows exactly what they're doing. It's a game changer, basically a rift for anybody.
Unless you are somebody like me with a lazy eye. The experience is okay but not great due to the limited vision in one of my eyes. It is a shame as I would really enjoy VR

I don't think so. Everything is blurry in one of my eyes always. Glasses, contacts... nothing helps it. And you really need both eyes for VR to work well...
I'm in the same boat, I have never tried a VR headset and just kind of felt "meh" to it, but who knows maybe I'll be amazed when I try it for the first time. What did you watch when you put it on for the first time?
I am looking forward to giving it a try, if I like it cool, if not can throw the VR on eBay and make a little money back. Wondering how something like Netflix will be with it, does it make it seem as though you are watching a large screen? If so that would be nice for travelling.
Does anybody knows how is the experience for somebody with power glasses using the VR?

That's quite a drag. Would literally drive me insane, I think.
Is there anything/conditions where you get clear vision?
I just messed around with it for 10 minutes, I think I could have spent hours in there! I am a fan of tech more so that most others so maybe you impressions my vary. It really is like going into another world. For the movies you are sitting in a very realistic 3d movie theater all to yourself. It sounds weird, but it is seriously pretty cool. You can look around the room and the only weird thing is not being able to see your body in the chair. I watched part of a preview and passed it off to my wife so I didn't see all of it. She does not really like 3d but she said it was the best she ever saw so I am bummed that I missed it. You can also watch a movie on the moon or a home setting.
I looked at a couple VR still pictures and they were pretty impressive. There was also an animated underwater scene, I was watching some fish and turned around and a shark was swimming at me like he was going to take my head off.
I was surprised how smooth it was, I didn't see any lag like I was expecting. Afterwards the guy told me I was viewing from an S6, so the S7 might even be better. It was a little grainy but didn't bother me much. I hope samsung sticks with keeping this VR compatible with future models and maybe 4K will be on the S8. I think it would be much improved with 4k but this really didn't bother me. I can't wait to try it more! The only issue might be is there enough content, but with Samsung giving out so many VR units, I am sure that will increase development!

My other eye is fine. I was born with this condition so I don't notice it unless things like 3D or VR force me to use my other eye. And lasik cannot fix it. As far as I know nothing can. I guess that is why I love music so much? lol

Bummin. Just had cataract vision correction in my left. Was all hazy / blurry from that. Totally know what you mean by the one eye 3d movie experience.
I'll be curious to see what it looks like...been only a week since I can see clear

Still looks grainy since it's halving the resolution. Hopefully 4K screens will help.

Would you still recommend Galaxy S7?

Hi there,
I'm in the market to buy a new phone and teh S7 is on top of my list. I waited a little to see what problems arise in the first month after launch. I see some problems with front facing camera and rear facing camera video. After using this phone for 30 days would you still buy it or recommend it to someone like me. I had a LG G4 that i really liked but it had some small screen problem so I returned it. The LG G4 is half the price of te S7. In these condition would you still buy the S7? Please argue you answer.
Samsung galaxy s7 have many new features coming one of them is android marshmallow. The other hidden features you are not aware of like:
- Screen Lock Shortcuts
- Set up Gear VR
- Samsung Pay
- Motion Photo Option
- change the icon backgrounds
- Always On Display Option
After getting all these features i definitely recommend you to buy this phone.
I have the Exynos S7 and this is the best phone I've had.
The battery is great (getting 2 days minimum on a charge).
The camera is great although it has a (very) bad tendency to over-sharpen.
Touchwiz is very slimmed down and its performance is flawless.
The 4gb of ram are very useful and I've rarely (if ever) seen apps reloading when switching between recent apps.
What I don't quite like is the design - very slippery and smudgy - I don't recommend ever using it without a case. Coming from an S4, for me it's also a bit on the heavy side.
I'm ~2 weeks in and at this point I'd make the same decision again. I was hesitant to have a phone without root but so far my fears where unfounded. There are a few things I miss but nothing major.
3 weeks in coming from an LG G3 and no regrets. Best smartphone I've had yet.
I have the S7E. Pretty close to each other. It's a pho e with no compromises. Software is fast and fluid. Camera rocks, though it tends to overshapen but still impressive quality. Battery life for days. I cant tell you any flaws with it at this point.
Battery life alone is worth it. Came from an s5.

I'll second this. I've only had rooted phones since the original droid and I was pretty worried about not having V4A, quick unlock, and add blocking. So far, the only thing I've really missed is add blocking but I'm still totally happy with the phone.

Have you given Adguard a try? I've come to like it enough I purchased it. Just be sure to disable battery optimization on it until (if?) they can get that bit fixed. They have new versions on the way which should be even better.

No, I haven't. I looked into some non-root ad blockers a week or two ago (don't remember if this was one of them), and they all had pretty terrible reviews.
I'll give Adguard a try though. Thanks for the recommendation.

For the full version it is not cheap, but worth it to me as I was getting REALLY annoyed by all the ads in apps.
You can check out there progress @ https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForAndroid.
Try adguard available on their site and not via Google play for obvious reasons.

Agree with everything except the design, I love it. I guess you meant the material used? But me too, best phone I have ever used by a long shot.

Same with me. No regrets at all so far. The only gripe I have is how slippery the phone is and the dearth of good case options in circulation.
Edit: I forgot to mention I wish the DAC allowed for more headphone volume.

I'm using the Diztronic matte black TPU case, 4th phone in a row with a Diztronic and love it.
Yeah I wish the DAC had more volume too.

Yeah, I was indeed referring to the materials. I really hate this all-glass trend. All metal or at least plastic back would have been more to my liking.
i seem to be interested with the s7 again. not sure tho. but im open to the idea.

Just download Adguard, click on buy premium and then change the currency to russian rubel.
Now you can buy a lifetime licence for around 4€.
Adguard works like any adblocker on a rooted devices (only the little key symbol is annoying)
You can get rid of the symbol by using tasker and only activating Adguard while the use of Chrome/Apps with Ads
After this little investement I don't miss root at all

This notification is bothering me way more than it should :/
That's why I wrote. Buy the Tasker app.
Then only start adguard while having chrome/ app with ads open.
I can give you the adguard on/off profiles if you want

To all the OP6 owners, need answers

I have a OnePlus 3T 6/64, using it for like 11 moths or so.
Want to upgrade to a OnesPlus 6 Lava Red 8+128 that I've seen used for like 300€.
Wanna ask, things like camera(I know it's great, not best but decent), performance(amazing), screen(compared to my 3T maybe not a lot of difference?), battery(also, I get with my 3T 50% brigthness 3.10h SOT, I've used a MI5 and 2.45h so moderate-hi usage), speaker(3t is meh, 6 maybe a lil better?)... Just wanna see what people says, or compared to a 5/5T but wanna know if I'm going to notice a difference, wanna use the 6 for at least a complete year.
Battery is a priority, I need at least 4.30h SoT with a daytime visible brightness. Can't get a 6T or 7, just have 300€ and I want AMOLED and a 835 at least, I've seen Xiaomi alternatives(Mi8) but I'd rather OP, any suggestion?I will be happy with a OP6? Thanks!
I'm a oneplus user since OP3, & i actually use OP6 (8/128) and I will definitely recommend you to get it.
Compared to the OP5T, I feel more comfortable using this larger screen, I get more SOT @50% brightness (~6,5H music, social networking, mailing & some PUBG), a little bit better camera quality (even if the OP5T is already good at video recording & image stabilisation), and the performances are just great.
If u get one at the 300€ price including the genuine dash charger, then it's a great deal
Definitely get it. You will not be disappointed. Some people get 8 hours s.o.t. but that's usually not very realistic-at least not without major kernel modifications. Most of the reason is, though the screen is excellent, it's large and that's where most of your power is lost. I don't think you'll get 10 hours. But in almost every other respect, you'll be floored with it!

Remember to use a GCam port to really get good pictures !
yeah this will be my first OnePlus device.. I wanted to get one before but was on Verizon before and knew it wasn't compatible.. but now that we are with TMobile i'm gonna give it a shot! I know the camera reviews seem to show its very decent (especially at the price point) and I'm pleased with the sample pictures i've seen on youtube... I have seen some of the reviews about using GCAM instead of the stock camera.. i'm just concerned about having 2 camera apps on the phone and if apps could be confused with it..
I do know the Speaker is pretty weak.. so i'm curious to hear how "bad" it really is.. hopefully its still acceptable to use..
I can't wait to see how well it runs FORTNITE... My pixels has some good moments.. but others its a DOG... so with GAMING MODE and larger screen and 8gig ram.. i'm hoping its a beast!

Fortnite 30fps max stable, maybe even 60?
Spealer meh but i don't think it's worse than 3t, will test it this week (there are some oneplus 6 at fnac) and camera use gcam and you'll have almost exact pixel 3 experience. Just intall it and use it, forget the other one unless you need manual mode or better video stabilization
If youre not picky with photo, go for it. Like said already above, dont forget install Gcam...
Regarding the speaker. If you want to root anyways you can also install the dual speaker mod and viper4android for speaker optimization. Got it installed several months and it improves the sound a lot. Often only by playing sound through the earspeaker while I accidentally cover the main speaker.
For me camera quality is poor, I'm coming from a Nokia 8 which has a way better camera quality... Well it seems like you can't have it all at this price point.

I left it on the settings it did when I first installed the game on the OP6.. which was 30fps / epic graphics / 75% 3d graphics.. and it looks so amazing and runs so smoothe and fast compared to my Pixel.. (20fps / low graphics / 50% 3d graphics)

yeah I listened to the speaker a few times and i'm not that displeased with it.. It is VERY easy to cover an severely mute.. but since I use a case.. I just dremel out the inside of the connector between the hole for the speaker and the hole for the USB.. so the sound can pass through there if I block the hole for the speaker.. makes it work much better.

yeah i played around with it some last night.. trying to use portrait mode.. and it was OK but definitely didn't WOW me like some of the pictures i'd get with my OG PIXEL..
So if you install the GCAM, will it replace the stock camera or just have 2 cameras in the app list? can you set the GCAM as primary so even when using the double tap power or lockscreen swipe to camera, it would open GCAM?
Thank you!

2 separate apps, your camera and gcam, it's better at hdr+ enhanced and night sight, you will notice a lot of difference compared to stock. Also don't forget to tweak the camera settings

what do you mean?
Dude OnePlus 7 is almost here, just go brand new. You don't know how the previous owner treated their device.
Burn-in on oled?
Needs new battery?
Possible water damage?
Non-OEM quality replacement parts or repairs?
Don't do it man, just go new

The OP6 is probably the last decent phone OnePlus will ever make. They have gone the direction of all big phone makers now, bloatware, removal of headphone jacks, caving into whatever the carriers want them to do. I would get one while you can. I picked mine up used from Swappa and am glad I did.

i'm in the same boat.. yeah the OnePlus 6T does have a little better camera and smaller notch.. but no headphone jack was an issue for me.. and now with the 7 going with a pop up camera.. i'd be nervous about motor failure...
so I grabbed a OnePlus 6 and so glad I did
One Plus 6 all the way. I got one of the last ones available online from their web site...black with 8 gigs ram and 256 gigs storage. I saw a tear down on YouTube and it appears to be one of the easiest phones to replace the battery if needed. So I plan on keeping mine for a long, long time!
