Identifying LCD panel that can have ghost screen (Burn-in). LGD and BOE screen - Moto G4 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

After many tests we found this difference in screens that are presenting ghost screen (Burn-in)
All the screens that show the defect are LGD, the BOE screens so far did not show the defect.

Okay, this is what I want to confirm, did not see any BOE with the defect, and some with the defect to seek technical assistance back with LGD screens.

I have the lgd screen and experience from the burn in effect.

@Rkschunk
Why the dpi and inch are different in the two pictures in your post? One show 400dpi/5.51inch and the other 440pdi/5.01inch?
I also have the LGD display and no issues.

The image is of different devices.

I have an lgd panel. .. I had burn in but fixed it by reducing all rgb values down to 220 say rather than 255.... I guess the lgd panels are badly calibrated or something

That's right, when only theory, the more I am very curious, have not heard a single report of a BOE with burnt screen.

So, I have some ghost screen at the status bar at the top, but it is only visible when the brightness is more then 25% in automatic modus.

how's the display?

I'm thinking about switching from the pixel 2xl to this. I saw someone post a grey picture (OLED test) and it was horrible. The uniformity was the worse I've ever seen.
I think it's great. It's better than my old Moto g4 plus and that phone had an impressive screen as well although it was an LCD and not AMOLED. The colors are great and you won't really notice the pixels since it's 1080p and it will give a longer battery as well for that reason.

I just used Dead Pixel Test, and the uniformity is literally perfect with the Silk White edition. All colors were literally perfect.
The screen is great. It looks as good as the one on my S8+ that I just sold. You'll be extremely happy with the screen in the OP6.
I mean look at a solid grey picture and turn your brightness all the way down? Is it still "perfect" ?
Display is avarage.

I just used a website with the pixel test images, lowered the brightness to minimum - it's perfect, there's no change in brightness anywhere on the screen. It's perfectly uniform. Whoever posted that image got a lemon that he needs to exchange.
Are you satisfied?
Love the display coming from my s6 edge.

Perfect screen, compared to my wife S9+ which I would give 9.8/10, I will give the OP6 a solid 9.1/10
I used to have pixel 2 xl but oneplus looks better. I didn't like the pixel because of the blue shifting

Just Google grey test OLED and look for a solid grey image. Turn your brightness all the way down and see how uniformed it is
compare to my old nexus6, my new oneplus6 has significantly better Amoled screen, however it's way to narrow compare to nexus6 which missed a lot.
Also, oneplus6 screen is extremely better than my old nexus5 with that lcd garbage.
S9+ perhaps has a bit better screen than oneplus6 but it has retarded and highly inconvenient and highly uncomfortable curve which is huge deal breaker for me.

Do you want the screen to be bad or something? I googled your oled test business and used 2 different grey images from some posts that had uniformity problems from some other phones. There are zero for this screen. It looks perfectly uniform, nothing like the images for those problematic displays. This is a Silk White limited edition version of the phone. Even if there were problems with the screen in the past, they would definitely be gone for my batch of phones.

Calm down. I've seen pics on Reddit that were horrible. Like LCD bleed. I just didn't want to purchase if the display sucks like my pixel 2 XL. The p2xl was so bad
It's okay. Sadly I got used to the note 8 so it looks blah.
I'll have to play with a custom kernel and tweak the display.
Step up from 200 phone. Yes I can see pixels.

I have this problem since day 1. It looks like LCD bleeding but in an unnoticeable way. It has disturbed me while watching movies in a dark room with low brightness. Upper half of the screen seems like its too bright while the lower half seems too dark... But, no one will notice it with average brightness and lighted room..

Get a replacement, your display is defective.
EDIT: I just scrolled through Westworld Season 2 Episode 3 using VLC and adjusting brightness on the way. There were about 4 dark scenes, and I couldn't see any imperfections with my display. The uniformity was perfect.
Maybe some people got some crappy ass lemons when a factory QC worker was drunk. It ain't the case here.
Case closed for this phone.

Yellow tint at the bottom half of the display

Hello everyone!
Did anyone notice this ugly yellow tint at the bottom of the screen? It about 1/4 of display along from camera side. Could anybody prove that the problem could be fixed by update? I have MIUI 9.5.16.0 ODGRUFA on my phone, official Russian rom.

I have already put the contrast to Increased. It has a little effect, but I steel see the warm tint at the bottom. It visible only on a white background and none-visible on any others colors (tested with Screen Test app). This not interrupting with using the phone and could be ignored, but my old Redmi Note 3 Pro has the clear white color and I don't understand how the top-phone like Mix 2s could has a defect like this.
I have created the same thread on the MIUI official forum and as I see this is the mass global problem, but not everyone notices the yellow tint. Many of users are talking about the same on the Russian forums (4pda, for example) .
install aida64 app and check whether its a 1080p jdi video panel
if yes then its a hardware panel calibration issue and u must try replacement as same happened with me on mi mix 2 in which i had 1/4 upper part red tint and this problem cant be solved by any software update and in worst case u can adjust its calibration by flashing a custom kernel which support kcal color profile but that will only reduce that tint and not completely eliminate it

As far as I know, there are only JDI panels. I did not find more than that when I searched the internet (which just criticized them for their low quality and the bad choice that Xiaomi made with these)
Yes, here is JDI, the only one panel in all Mix 2s smartphones.

Screen uniformity

I checked the Mix 3 oled panel with Oled tools on very low brightness. The reaults are very bad.
Did anyone check it?
I've checked it with my mince pies, and the results are excellent.

Yes. I use the night display on Gentle Alarm every night. The nighttime darkness of the OLED screen is one of the reasons I waited for this device, along with no bezels, wireless charging and too much RAM. The only strange thing I've noticed is purple pulsing when Radio FM is on and the screen is off, but I think that's a "feature" since I updated to the weekly eu ROM.

Screen too warm/too "yellowy"

Am I the only one who has a warm screen for Pixel 4a? I have compared my screen to my Mi 9T Pro and it has better whites compared to my 4a.
Is there a way to adjust the white balance of our screen?
Thanks!

Could be an app that's doing it but without knowing which one you are better off doing a factory reset, its either that or a hardware issue.
I reckon even you contact support they will probably get you to do a factory reset anyways.
You might have a defective screen. Is it like that evenly across whole screen or just part of it? My screen is like that on the right side and strongest on the top right. I contacted Google about it and they're replacing my phone.

Question Always on display on Poco X3 Pro

Hey, we do not have option to set always on display on Poco X3 Pro,but is there any way to do that? Or any aplication? I try some from Googleplay, but they are for amoled screens. Thanks for any answers .
An always on display makes no sense with an IPS panel.

I don't know this device.
Cut&Paste from Quora (I'm lazy!):
Here’s the main difference between OLED screens and LCD screens: when an OLED screen displays black, the pixels are powered off, so the battery is not being drained by the screen but when an LCD screen displays black, it does so by tinting the backlight dark, which means the screen is still generating light and is hence draining the battery.
An always on display requires the screen to show the time (and some extra details) constantly. In an OLED screen, this means only the pixels that are displaying the time are turned on, which results in less battery drain. But when it comes to LCD displays, there’s no difference in battery drain during always on display versus normal usage (taking into consideration only battery drain due to display).

There are no apps for always on display on LCD screen's , only if you move to an custom AOSP rom, you will find that feature (but you will experience battery draining!!!).
Also the led of your ips-panel will degrade super damn fast

Better read my post again, preferably two or three times, and then you may understand why an AoD on an LCD / IPS panel makes relatively little sense. Does it basically work? Yes it does and I have never said anything to the contrary.

yea i know, but give user's choice without rooting or change OS. that what i want or people want (maybe). there is phone out there, has option to turn on AoD. user's already (or must ) know what effect if turn on AoD. if user use IPS panel, maybe u cant longer turn on AoD than AMOLED panel. just need complex setting, simple as that
